Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park was a great experience. The landscape is stunning… soft pink sand dunes stretching across the horizon with red cliffs and clear skies all around. It’s one of those places that feels completely different from the rest of southern Utah. One of the best things to do there is rent a sandboard or sled from the main park office. They make it easy to get what you need and the gear is in good condition. Sandboarding down the dunes is a blast, especially for kids and anyone looking for something fun and different. The sand is deep and fine, so walking up the dunes takes a little effort, but the views from the top are worth it. You can also bring off-road vehicles if you want to explore the larger dunes on the other side of the park. There are picnic areas, restrooms, and plenty of parking, so it’s easy to spend a few hours or a full day. I definitely recommend it. Whether you’re sandboarding, taking photos, or just enjoying the scenery, Coral Pink Sand Dunes is worth the visit.

Camped in site 31 with our Motorhome and YXZ. We had a group of 13 camping in park and 2 couples in Kanab hotel. They allowed them to come in park there trucks in group area and they left there RZRs in corral at our site at night. Not sure on cost forgot to ask them. Sand dunes are cool if that's your thing. Bathroom and shower facilities are clean and nice. Sites don't have sewer hook up but dump station on site. Water pressure horrible just filled our tanks and used pump. Don't expect wifi it's very spotty so unless you have starlink or something compatible it's hit n miss with Verizon service. Got text but no call reception. So if working be sure you have appropriate equipment. Camp host came over just as we pulled YXZ off trailer telling us don't cut the corners in camp otherwise he has to sweep dirt and rocks back. Lol. Beautiful area lots of deer so be careful driving. We found Sasquatch ❤️😎👊

I was there in June 2025, had a great time – loved it. It was a beautiful crystal clear day. Love Utah, especially the seldom part of the seldom part of the state is very beautiful. Cannot wait to visit Utah again! Definitely will be back to this State park.

This made the third Dunes we've been to but the first one we climbed to the top of the dunes at! And though it's out of the way, as most Dunes tend to be, it was worth the pop in and out. The temps were great for this, being able to walk bearfoot in the sand because it wasn't lava hot, was a first as well! Dog loved it too, and was also happy it was cooler. 🐾 We did not get a sled, but observed others, it didn't seem worth the $25 to get one, let's say that. We all agreed it's not really "pink", moreso orange. The texture of the sand is soft and fine. And if you dig just a tiny bit down, the sand is cool and moist. A fun family trip to check it out was worth it.

I usually don't do reviews of natural landmarks, but this place is an absolute letdown. Utah definitely shouldn’t sell this as a "state park". It is nothing more than a gigantic ATV race track and OHV staging area. If you are looking for good hikes or simply to enjoy a beautiful scenery - as you can expect when visiting state or national parks - this is not the right place for you. I hiked into the dune field and anywhere you go all you can see is those ATV tracks all over the place, hear the roar of the ATVs all around you, and smell the gasoline in the air. Definitely a fun place for those who come here just for that, or who are willing to spend some bucks to do a guided tour! For the average visitor of state / national parks who are looking for a PRISTINE & SERENE landscape: don't come here!

The Dunes are AMAZING the sand never stops moving, footsteps fill with sand in minutes. Worth the drive and hike to the top of the Dunes.

Awesome and must visit. Quiet and calm not crowded. Kids had so much fun climbing the sand hills. Wish we had ATV to ride.

If you already have a state park pass and are in the area, I'd say this is a nice place to make a quick stop to walk out on the dunes. If you don't have a park pass and aren't in the area, I don't think this is worth seeing. They have dune buggy/OHV tours you can do that looked like fun (if you can go deeper into the park) but we didn't have time to schedule one so we just walked out to see the dunes and walked back. There's an overlook area you can stand on if you don't want to walk in the sand too. This is a dog friendly park but please bring a lot of water for your dog. Also - the sand gets very hot very quickly, so make sure their paws are protected.

There's definitely something magical about a sand dune-maybe I'm half expecting the Cave of Wonders to erect itself from the middle of the sand or perhaps I'm just marveling at the sheer amount of sand in one area. The Coral Pink Sand Dunes are beautiful and vast-although they are not quite as coral pink as I had imagined. When you visit, you can opt to rent an ATV or a sled and play in the sand like a toddler. I didn't do that during my visit, but I think I might give it a try another time. Be prepared for hot sand in the summer months and wind, which means potential sand in your eyes. Goggles might be a worthy accessory if you're going to spend more than a few minutes out here.

What a gorgeous state park. The sand dunes are uniquely created by the way the hills form and the wind blows (check online for more info). The sand is super soft, clean and just gorgeous. I was surprised in March it was practically empty. People can take private ATVs or you can take a tour through ROAM, which is onsite next to the visitor center. If you want to sandboard the dunes you can bring your own board or rent one from the visitor center. Make sure to bring wax! Also, the air is thinner, so prepare to be tired. Also, I saw a lot of people just wearing sandals as it is like the beach, sand! Other than the sand dunes, there are really pretty areas to hike, slot canyons and a small visitor center. In the visitor center they have some drinks/snacks, a bathroom, sands from around the world, some gifts and information about the park. There was not any internet service at the park, so be prepared for that!

We made our second visit to Coral Pink Sand Dunes in January 2025. We rented 2 sand boards. One of the boards absolutely would not go down the dune despite all of my son's best efforts. He wasted 45 minutes trying to ride it. My son rode the sand board up and down the dunes in 2023 during our first visit. All of us tried to ride the board including an 11-year-old girl, and the board wouldn't budge. The 2nd board we rented ran just fine. When we went back to the office after 2 hours of playing on the dunes, the employee refused to give us a refund for the defective board. She said that we should have come back to the office to get a different board. The hike from the big dune and the office is about 15-20 minutes trudging through the sand. Making an additional 30 to 40-minute round trip trek to the office and back during a 2-hour visit isn't enticing. Except for the defective board, we had another wonderful visit to Coral Pink Sand Dunes.

We were visiting Utah to initially see Zion, but I'm glad we looked around even more and found this gem. We stayed in Hurricane, Utah which is really close to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion and this location. If you need a place to stay this would be the town. The drive here was very scenic. You'll go through several habitats, and see nothing that resembles a dessert, but the closer you get you'll see more dust accumulating on the floras. This sand dune comes with a rich prehistoric history. The park rangers were so sweet and the rentals for the sand boarding was super cheap. Please keep in mind if you choose to do sand boarding you'll have to remove your shoes, also do some stretches prior. Be prepare to walk up that hill. It's more fun coming down than going up for sure. After several passes I ran out of energy haha. We had to return to our car before sunset as it is very dark to leave this park and that walk had me questioning my endurance. Leave plenty of time to walk to the car, but don't worry. It will not be hot.

I just might enjoy state parks more than national parks. They're less crowded, more chill and less money. $10 to park, $25 all day sand board or sled rental and a $5 permit fee if you choose to fly a drone (which will give you much better pics of the dunes than my iPhone photos). They also offer atv tours inside the park but if you have your own you can use it here. There is a protected area for native beetles closed off to atvs. You can also camp here. There is something for everyone to enjoy here. The walk to the dunes is short but tough due to the soft sand. Make sure to go early in the day to avoid the heat. You will get sand everywhere so be prepared. I definitely do not recommend sneakers, we were shaking sand out of ours for days. Make sure to bring lunch, snacks, drinks or whatever else you might need. The visitor center has a few things but not much. Don't forget sunscreen, even on an overcast day you will need it.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes does not have the grandeur, and is not on the same level as nearby Zion, Bryce, or Grand Canyon National Parks. If you have time to linger and explore, Coral Pink Sand Dunes is a beautiful place and worth your visit. Arrive at the park via paved roads, state park fee applies but you do not need a "tour" to visit the edge of the dunes, rental side by sides and guides available.

So the wind blows and the sandstone blows into very fine sand dunes. Very cool state park. You can rent sand boards and slide down the dunes. You can also rent ATVs with a driver or bring your own. Like the beach, with no ocean! Beautiful! A different topography.

Do the roam rental rides it was literally the coolest part of our whole trip to the area. We would spend the money again in a heartbeat!

Sandboarding was a blast! The wind picks up in the afternoon so going early is best. The ATV's are a bit obnoxious, especially near the main sandboarding area. Lots of people were hesitant because of how close and quick the ATV's were. Like I get it, we all want to recreate but ya'll have the whole damn desert. Coming with 10 feet or less of sandboarders and hikers was a bit aggressive.

We checked out the dunes today and it was beautiful but also cold due to the wind. We rented sand boards , $25 for all day. I recommend doing stand up , the sitting down collects too much sand and I found it difficult. We also got to see some deer on the drive down and dogs are allowed but have to be leashed !

A great place to check out in the Kanab area if you have time. Parking costs $10 and if you want to fly a drone, permit is $5. My friend and I wanted to try sandboarding ($25 to rent a board) which was so much harder than snowboarding. It definitely takes a lot of practice and climbing up the dunes is exhausting. I definitely recommend coming here in the morning since it's less crowded and less hot. It's a fun place for kids and you can bring your dog here too. I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area!

Worth $10 to get some sand in your toes, watch the people boarding down the dunes and see the utv's go by. We took our 2 and 4 year old and they absolutely loved it. Totally unique spot! We might not return but I am really glad we stopped to see it!

We didn't originally plan to visit Coral Pink Sand Dunes SP, but on our road trip north out of Kanab we saw the sign and decided "why not?". Our detour drive took a little longer than expected, but we did spot some pinkish "teaser dunes" to keep us interested. We eventually reached the main entrance and paid the fee. The headquarters area and parking lot was small but clean and tidy. It was obvious that many people (mostly families) were here to spend much of the day; some to slide down the dunes on boogie boards, others to ride ATVs on a cordoned-off section of dunes. We were here for just an hour or so, completing a short nature walk and reading the plaques on the elevated viewing platform. To me, the most satisfying thing was finding the answer to the burning question: "Why are these pinkish dunes even here?" This was surprisingly straightforward: Prevailing winds have been speeding up through a notch in the mountains to the south (via venturi effect), picking up sand from the reddish cliffs, only to lose speed again in this open valley. Thus they've been dropping their load here, and doing so for tens of thousands of years. I love me a good factoid! In the end, I was glad we visited, but I was a little put off by the wide-open public access. It seemed people were allowed to tromp pretty much anywhere, and the sounds of ATV motors was strange in what could have been a peaceful landscape. I note that less than 8% of the park is set aside as conservation area, which seems meager, considering there are some animals and plants here that live nowhere else in the world. For me, it seemed Coral Pink Sand Dunes SP could do better in reaching a balance between recreation and preservation.

Omg. Hubby and I were in Kanab for a short trip and wanted to visit Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park and I am so glad we did. It is the most beautiful state park. The park is over 1200 acres of dunes. A one day pass to enter the park is $5. The park has beautiful hiking and walking trails, campgrounds, and about 90 miles of space to ride your quad, motorcycle or any OHV. The weather was only about 60 degrees but windy but the sand was warm to touch. It's very fine as well. Just a beautiful color Pink. We had so much fun riding in the sand with our quad. Definitely will be going back

One of the less populated dunes I've visited. Definitely makes it better for pictures as most other dunes you can see the foot prints of people. There was a pullout if you just want to take a quick glance of the place. Oh and the sand isn't so pinkish in my opinion. Ha.

Stopped here after spending some time at Bryce Canyon. My group really wanted to go sandsledding and I had no idea what that entailed. I called the visitors center that morning and received confirmation of their closing times (which can vary) and information about sled rentals. The bathrooms were very clean and the people working at the visitors center were very nice. We rented a sled and was told we could swap it out for a sandboard (the one where you stand on the board) when we were done with the sled. Sledding down the dunes was fun and looks scarier than it actually is. Climbing back up the dunes was definitely a workout. I'd recommend bringing goggles and a face mask with you while sledding since it is very windy and the sand grains can get into the eyes and nose. By the sand dunes area there were some bleachers for people to sit and watch people slide down the dunes from afar. I would recommend visiting if you're ever in the kanab area and have a few hours to kill.

Well, this was a hidden gem and great surprise on our trip to Utah. The dunes are beautiful. The pink sand set against a blue sky is stunning. It is windy, and you have to share the park with ATVs, but there is plenty of room for everyone. Park admission is $10. It is $25 to rent a sled or sand board, which is kind of steep. Pro tip is to bring your own sled, boogie board, or whatever else you have that you can slide on. Be prepared to have sand everywhere - hair, mouth, clothes, shoes, car, etc. Hiking up the biggest dune then down into a bowl was amazing and a bit disorienting. I could not see anything but sand and sky. Climbing up the dune and then out of the bowl were a great workout. In fact, just walking into the dune area is a good workout given the sand and the elevation. I would definitely go back if in the area. It's a nice break from hiking the national parks. Highly recommended.

Drove out here while visiting Zion National Park. The drive is about 45 minutes because you have to drive through the national park. We went during Labor Day weekend and temperatures were over 100 degrees....so yes we were crazy. We went first thing in the morning and I was already dreading the heat. As soon as we stepped onto the sand...my fear disappeared. The sand is cold! I guess the sand cools down during the night. The deeper you bury your feet the cooler the sand gets. And if you find a patch of shade the sand even feel more amazing. We paid $10 to get into the park and spent about 1-2 hours just walking around the sand...the longer we stayed the warmer it got. By the time we left the sand was starting to warm. My recommendation is to get there early. You can rent sleds to go down the sand dunes too.

My daughter and I took a trip here in august and we loved it! The actual dunes are fairly small so we were glad we didn't bring paddle tires and I wouldn't recommend them with a SXS because there are so many cool trails that lead out from the dunes that you don't want to miss! We stayed in town about 30 mins away and drove to the dunes every morning. The camping /Rv area looks very nice though! We plan on going back this summer and camping. The staff was very helpful and kind as well. FYI you will need flags to drive in the actual dunes, but they do sell them at the entry station if needed. You can also rent sand sleds/boards which we pretty much saw a consistent amount of people using them throughout our trip. So be cautious of people walking through the dunes to go sand board if you are driving /riding. Overall a great experience and the natural beauty is hard to beat!

Super cool. However this sand is super soft if you go to the left out of the main gate. The best sand for your side by side is to the right out of the gate and the route the rentals go on. Not like other dunes where you can run all over. I would not recommend this place unless your with a buddy. RV area is nice but there are no full hook ups only power and water. Super hot in the summer months. These are beautiful and hard to beat the sunset here. Unfortunately many people get hurt here each year. The store at the camp site has rentals for sand boarding and disc. Keep in mind it's about a mile walk around trip to the sand. Then every time you go down a dune you have to walk back up. Highly recommended you got super early in the morning. The sand is not hot then and you can go up and down barefoot and it feels lovely. Bring goggles & water. Don't go in the afternoon during the middle of the summer as the sand is too hot. So either early AM or late in the evening. Call the state park office to verify their desk hours for rental.

We came here along with my younger sister who had seen some amazing pictures online and knew it was something we needed to check out while in the area. There iThey offer sand boarding and a board to sled down as well for $25 each. It was a very quiet day (Monday) and we only ran into one other couple. We took along my 4 year old as well. It's quite a trek to get to the really high dunes. We only made it to the somewhat novice dunes knowing this was our first time. The walk up the dunes is well worth it yet very exhausting, especially on such a cold day. We were able to get a few rides in and decided to call it a day after about 1.5 hours. You can also rent ATVs and take rides through the dunes which looked pretty knarly. All in all a great experience.

If you are ever on your way to Zion or Kanab, you gotta stop by this place! There is something so magical about the desert. It definetly is my happy place. I get more enjoyment out in the desert probably more than the oceans (oceans here at least). I loved how the dunes are tucked away from civilization - you will have to drive on this narrowish road to get there, & have no fear, because there are signs! So don't be scared when you loose signal on your phone. I seriously felt like I was somewhere else when I came here. It didn't feel like the US at all. It was partly cloudy on the day we went & it was still quite warm. Wear sandals because there's a good chance you will be taking them off when walking in the sand. Also bring a towel because the sand gets everywhere, it's finer than beach sand! Also regarding the ATV's - as long as they aren't destructing the natural vegetation or ecosystem - they have every right to be there. I'm not sure why people are complaining? TBH I wish I could have gotten a ride from one. There's no place that provides sleds so you will have to bring your own! The dunes are steeeep & I definetly got a nice cardio workout walking to the top! Dogs are allowed too which is great. The sand is indeed pink - not baby pink. Think like orange pink. I have some sand I collected from the Arabian Desert in Dubai & compared the two - & yes the sand is indeed coral pink! FUN FACT: the sand grains of quartz has a hematite coating giving it the beautiful coral pink color. Also these dunes are estimated to be 10,000 - 15,000 years old!!

Annoying experience renting the sandboards. Youd think the federal government wouldn't scam me on my vacation but taking 1/3 of my paycheck isnt enough. Frankly, the boards aren't worth $25 each. What was the tipping point was that I got a damaged board unknown to me while my girlfriend got a functioning one. We walk 1/2 a mile in the desert to the hill and mine doesn't even budge. Extremely frustrating so me and my girlfriend had to rotate off her board. When i returned them the park ranger or whatever the hell you call them didnt see the need to refund me for the non-working board. Ridiculous. Typical federal worker who think their entitled because they service the taxpayer. Its worse as its a customer rental and noone teaches these clowns basic customer service.

Nice ATV and Dirt Bike Park In The Sand This park in my opinion is best suited for sand riding of Dirt Bikes or ATVs. There are lots of fun sand features to go riding on here. If you don't have off road toys its a nice spot to stop and check out if you are driving by for a little leg stretching. They have really clean bathrooms which I appreciate also!

So no one seemed to mention this was going to be the best workout of my life! Unreal fun and laughter and can't believe we pasted this gem the last 5 years on the way to Zion and never knew it was right under our noses! So here's the skinny... 9 miles off the highway lies this oasis of tons of soft soft sand. (Well until you fall on your bum from trying to look cool sand boarding!!) $10 entry fee to the state park $25 per board or sled you can rent (highly rec one board and one sled so you can do both of w a family!) = $60 for my son and I - yes a bit pricey but we were there 3 hours and omg did we make memories!!! ( you wear socks or go bare foot) Watch out for the bees in the parking lot- keep your car doors closed when getting changed after. Bring a case to put your phone in to protect from the blowing sand! Water water water!!! Imagine you are walking in the Sahara - b/c that's basically what you are doing. Before you get to any hill high enough to sled down. You walk about 1/2 or more miles to get to decent hills in thick sand! But it's friggin awesome!! Now would i do it again? Hmmm yes def but with a sled only - not the board. It was exhausting with the sand board - aka snowboard. Sled would have been way faster and more fun!

The best thing about traveling is that everything you see and do is a new experience that will most likely always leave a lasting memory. Coral Pink Sands is one of those places. I didn't even know about this state park until my homegirl mentioned how close our hotel was from here when we were in Kanah, Utah. Coral Pink Sands Dunes is over 3,700 acres and can be seen from many different entrances. This park is pretty quiet and isolated from everything else. I hear that many people like to camp here. It's a great place to stop if you are heading to take a ride to Zion National Park. The park is stunning with its coral-colored dune fields that are perfect for ATV riding. Many people mention that you pay $10 to enter, but we didn't actually pay anything (maybe because we actually didn't enter into the park but went to the back?!) IDK I was surprised to see that although the name mentions pink sands, the sand was orange. Luckily the weather was nice the day we arrived so the sand was fine to walk in without our shoes. There wasn't much to do here other than take pictures and leave. I hear that if you are open to it, many people hike the park. If I had to choose either the Coral Pink Sands or White Sands in New Mexico, I would rather spend more time at White Sands. The sand wasn't as soft as the White Sands. This is a great place to stop and check it out, but you are warned that there is nothing for you to do here unless you plan to ATV ride all throughout the dunes.

Let go & be a kid. An absolute BALL. So glad we did it! We did it old school - not via Dune Buggy. The dunes were amazing - it's such a gorgeous place - stop to really take in the surroundings from atop a dune. Park staff was friendly, informative & enthusiastic - plus they have some neat exhibits. Be prepared for some physical exertion - but it's Good for you. And sand Everywhere for Days - but 100% worth it. We did consider the Dune Buggy thing, but it was expensive & not exactly good for the planet - which I was there to enjoy,... - From a fairly inactive & sometimes curmudgeonly 50 yr old.

A must stop state park .The dunes are beautiful. I noticed kids and adults alike brought sleds and saucers to slide down the dunes with. Be careful of the deer population though .on the way we almost hit one ...we probably saw about 30 head of deer there.

The pictures don't do it any justice but what a beautiful place to spend some time. I loved that it was pet friendly so we were able to walk our dogs and they had a fabulous time. Bring sandals or something easy to walk in that you don't mind getting dirty.

Saturday August 15th, 2020 Staying in Kanab, Ut, we were looking to do some sightseeing and a picnic. We started out in the am with a lunch in hand. We traveled several suggested backroads. We saw a sign fir Coral Pink Dunes state park. We drove some backroads and arrived at the gate. It had said picnic areas on the website. So we paid a 10.00 fee to enter. We drove the camping and picnic areas till we saw an available table. We noticed a large number of Hornets and bees as we got out and sat DC down. Within 5 minutes we were swarmed by hundreds of bees. It made eating impossible. We packed up and got back into the car. We noticed that the entire area was overrun with bees, and even had bee traps everywher. We left. If your intent is to use the sand dunes for offroad vehicles, then the 10.00 fee is well worth it. If you intend on a picnicking or home, it would be impossible due to the large number of Hornets and bees. Pretty area and worth the drive.

This was fun! However, they allowed Atv's to drive through the area that we chose to sled down. To close for comfort actually. We want to talk to the rangers however, it was in the Ride area that we were going to sled on as per the sign. It was a short after noon. Walking in sand can tucker you out easily. The sun was out but it was cold & Windy outside temperature 55* F

This was one of the most fun places we visited while out UT/AZ. Beautiful dunes of all elevations. Interesting things to do and look at, and plenty of perfect sand to photograph. There are ATV rentals about a mile or two from the main park entrance if you'd rather explore via 4x4 and have some fun. We explored barefoot and it loved it. The red rock sand is just incredibly beautiful and fun to explore.

It's a fun drive from the freeway to the park. There's wildlife all around, so be careful driving down the paved road. It's $8/vehicle to get in, but you basically have access to whatever and wherever. Watch out for the ATV's and motorbikes because they have free range of the sand dunes as well as pedestrians. We met a few on ATV's and everyone was respectful of each other. We stayed for sunset, and I'm happy we did. Tips- - You will get sand everywhere. - These are not really "pink" and if you are expecting pink, look at the pictures people have posted before complaining. - Dogs are not allowed - prepare for a strenuous hike up very fine sand if you want to feel the sandy wind blowing through your tangled hair.

Stopped by during the drive from Bryce to North Rim. It was kinda rainy/snowy and cold. So we only wanted to get a couple quick photos. Our thoughts of building a Barbie Doll Sand Castle had dissipated as the weather deteriorated. Fortunately the nice man at the entrance booth told us it would be a long walk from the parking lot to the dunes, so we were able to turn around and save ourselves the small admission fee. On the drive in, we had seen many areas where we could pull over plus a few 4WD roads as well as a BLM camping area. So on the drive out we stopped at quite a few of these areas. Had the opportunity for photos. Got to take our shoes off and walk through the fine sand. If the weather had been better and if we had more time, this would have been an awesome place to spend a day. As you can see from the photos- the sand really isn't pink. It's coral orange. It's sandstone colored. I had been expecting PINK. So that was a tad disappointing. But it was still a different experience from the tannish whitish sand dunes we are used to seeing.

Honestly, I thought this place was going to be very boring and lame. I WAS SO WRONG! I had the funnest time at the sand dunes. Your inner child will come out in this giant sandbox.

Pink sand here is so powdery fine that it felt like sifted pastry baking flour falling from between my fingers. This sand is softer than any beach sand you're used to feeling between your toes. Absolutely incredible experience! Be warned it is hot here! Make sure you have a hat or visor plus sunglasses and plenty of WATER. We visited here on the way to Yosemite and I am so glad we stopped by to see this natural wonder.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park is in an interesting place to spend time. The dunes really are coral pink in color. The trails are mostly in the sand, so not good for those who have mobility issues. We found there was no cell phone service here, at least for Verizon.

Very fun family stop just outside of Kanab. Ten dollars to get in and view the dunes. $25 to rent a sled for the family to use. Sliding down the dunes was a riot, but walking to and from and climbing up them was a workout and not for the faint of heart! The woman at the gate was very friendly and helpful. The park was not crowded. They also had a wash station to get the sand off after you sled.

This place is under rated. We found this place by accident when a guy at the gift shop of Thunderbird Rest suggested to see their local sand dunes and best of all its free. It was 15 mins away from the restaurant and decided to check it out. Upon reaching the place, it was such a vast area and was lovely. The only thing it's not pink in color but more of light copper. It was all to ourselves. Had fun running like 2 kids. The curvy appearance formation was such pretty site and left our shoe prints everywhere. If you're bringing your 4 wheel vehicle, it would be fun. A place to check out

An unexpected treasure found outside Zion National Park. My son and I took the 9 mile detour (I think it was 9 miles) off of the main route to this treasure. Fun hike to the top of the sand mountain. Fun to see people sandboarding on the dunes. The sand is very fine - easy on the feet. Kids will love this adventure.

This State Park has come along way since I last visited over 15yrs ago. The road is narrow and fun to drive on. They now have an observation deck with bleachers to enjoy the sights and action. They've also posted information markers along a mile loop which made the experience even more enjoyable. I have to admit watching other's play in the sand dunes with their bikes & ATV's made me jelly....One day one day. All in all it's worth the detour between Zion and Bryce Canyon to walk in this fine sand dunes.

Having tramped and played on sand dunes in Mojave, Death Valley and the Oregon Coast, the "Pinks" pale in comparison for size and beauty. But the color is impressive and worth seeing, walking on, and napping on in the warm sun even on a brisk windy day. Very fine sand! The coral color is unique from any sand dunes we have sunk our bare feet in. What is not impressive is the noisy, gas-polluting ATV's permitted in the adjacent sand dune recreation area. Obnoxious! The state park campground is A-OK too! Good for a stay.

Beautiful state park with nice facilities and friendly park hosts. Viewing platform to sit and enjoy the panoramic view of sand dunes. Open to hiking. Ultra-fine sand may be difficult for some to hike through. Clean bathrooms, hot-water showers. Amazing experience as my friend and I reached the summit of the largest dune, a full moon was rising. ATVs are permitted but none were running making for a nice quiet early evening hike. My stove was out of commission so the camp hosts were kind enough to let us heat up our hot dogs on their stove. Camp sites filled up later in the day.

We heard from a friend how much she liked this park so we turned off the main road to visit this park. We parked in a small lot and didn't see any signs for cost of entry so I assume it is free. We set out on foot to take in the sights. Walking sand dunes uphill it slow going so we didn't get far but we got a good view of the place from the top of a hill! Brilliant pinkish-orange sands remind me of Bryce Canyon hoodoo colors. It was nice getting a little hike to stretch our legs on our road trip.

This place is beautiful! And empty! We had the dunes all to ourselves. They have water stations near the parking lot, so be sure to bring your bottles. We hiked the 2 big dunes & probably spent 2 hours here. Next time I'm bringing the snowboard! Great activity if you have a few hours to kill in Kanab.

We only went to Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park because it was 10 minutes from my apartment. That's probably the only reason you should go unless you like ATVing. We did hear about how the night sky is really clear here so we decided to camp to see the stars and to try out our new camping equipment. There is a fee to enter the park but it was like $5 and camping was around $16. On the road to the park, however, we noticed you could get to the dunes well before the entrance and there was even bleachers set up, presumably to watch the night sky. So if you didn't want to pay a fee and just check it out, you could probably do that. Anyway, we soon learned that this was ATV central. We were the only ones camping; everyone else was RVing it with trailers that held thousands of dollars worth of ATVs and ATV accessories. Pretty place. interesting geography. Not a fan of the rednecks driving all over, with it being a state park. Should be a recreation area.

The large dunes are fun to hike up, but not really too much else to do. Not a destination trip by any means, but it's fun to stop on the way to Zion or Bryce Canyon if driving up through AZ

On our way back from Zion to Page we found this sign that said "Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park" so we pulled in thinking it'd be coral pink and it was not. It was orange just like the dirt out here so not very great unless you just want to run around. Super misleading sign since it's not even pink!! I would say if you want to see sand dunes go visit the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado, it's so worth it and should definitely be added to your list. Scratch this and add the sand dunes in Colorado.
