Made the mistake of "bigging" the Corinium up in my mind before entering. Big mistake. It could never live up to what my (former) drug addled brain could imagine and when you've taken as many hallucinogens as I have in the past I was expecting to be mugged by an iron age thug or Roman centurian around every corner. It's a museum and is full of museumy things from the past. Daft thing to write as I've yet to visit a museum which looks to the future. Thought it was a tad pricey even though I got the crinkley discount. The staff were nice in the extreme. They put up with the mouthy northern one (me) without banning me from returning at some point. I hope they've forgiven me for leaving my 'up the boro' message before I departed.

Excellent exhibits with great educational elements! The whole family enjoyed it. The people were very informative as well.

An excellent museum with some quite beautiful mosaics and engaging history of Cirencester over the millennia. Let down by some sloppy attention to detail with their timeline boards. Guy Fawkes' assassination attempt was a year later and Edward VII was crowned a whole 3 years before.

Popped in with the family after checking out the market and shops. Friendly staff and the reception area is well presented. Toilets are on site but a bit tucked. The amount of Roman history is outstanding. There are two floors to cover with plenty to see and read. There is also a rolling interactive display with several short stories to choose from. The tickets are all day so if you wish to pop back later you can do so.

A really well done local museum- I was expecting something very small from the outside, but I was very impressed by the size, quality, and scale of the overall exhibit and specifically of the Roman mosaics. They are huge! It was awesome to see a museum that tracked the chronological history of the immediate area. As a tourist to the Cotswolds I recognized the names of all the excavation locations which was very cool. Great for kids too!

Great place to spend a rainy autumn day! Was very impressed with the displays and my boys loved it. Love the local references and being able to see artefacts that were discovered in our village.

Google
A well-laid out museum, truly enriching and preserving the history of Cirencester and the county. I really didn’t know much before I arrived but found it really interesting. My four year old loved it too, as there was just enough to occupy him too.

Yelp
Around £6 gets you access to a wide variety of Roman artifacts. This venue is not small and time well spent. One of the best stops we made during our frequent trips to the area.

Yelp
Much more is here than the humble facade would suggest. There are many gorgeous mosaics, tombstones, artifacts and jewelry from the Roman era when Corinium (Cirencester) was second only to London in size. There were also exhibits about earlier settlements and subsequent Anglo-Saxon and revolutionary era events. Very child friendly. Helpful knowledgable staff. Small shop, a cafe and clean bathrooms. For us - as foreign tourists, I think think this museum really gives you a feel for the great scope of history in these isles. Cirencester is not a terribly large town, yet it has history recorded continuing back 2,000+ years well reflected here. Only knocked off a star for some broken interactive exhibits - really wish I could give 4.5 stars. For what it sets out to do this is a successful effort.

Yelp
Brilliantly done. Went before it was expanded, and it was rather humdrum, but this is now a must when visiting Cirencester. It's council-run, but you'd never think it. Staff approachable and knowledgeable. Currently £4.50 per adult, which is good value compared to similar elsewhere.

Yelp
Great food in a casual relaxed setting. Family of 5 all delighted with their meals and drinks. Worth a visit.

Yelp
This is a quirky structure on the edge of town, but in wasy walking distance of it. This is worth a look at if youre interested in penal history and how troublesome people were dealt with in the past. Recommended for a quick look at. It lies close to Cotswold District Councils offices.

Yelp
Very good museum on the Romans in Britain. Not too big, not too small. Kids loved it but also very informative. Well worth a visit - especially if it's raining.

Yelp
A very child friendly museum with lots of interactive stuff to do. The main emphasis is on the Romans because of the local history. Lots of fascinating displays including Roman dining room and kitchen and some great mosaics. The gift shop is Ok but not fantastic. There's a cafe next door where you can buy coffee or lunch.
