The 10 Best New Hotels Opening in Europe in 2019 - AFAR

"Restoring a vacant 19th-century landmark formerly known as the Grand Hotel du Boulevard in central Bucharest, this extensively renovated property will reopen under a well-known upscale brand with about 34 rooms and suites, a grand ballroom and multiple dining options. While full specifics remain limited ahead of its late-2019 opening, the project follows the brand's track record of sensitively reviving historic hotels." - Sandra Ramani

Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard Bucharest (Bucharest, Romania) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"At the intersection of Calea Victoriei and Elisabeta Boulevard, this 19th-century landmark returns to form under Corinthia. Originally opened in 1873, it was the first hotel in Bucharest to install electric lights and an elevator, and later became a center for royal receptions and art exhibitions. Today, just 30 suites occupy the building, each with high ceilings, bespoke furnishings, and views onto the city. Original features of marble staircases, carved columns, and statuary remain, carefully restored. Boulevard 73, the ballroom restaurant, continues the sense of occasion. And once again, the building is doing what it was built to do." - Tablet Hotels

I am speechless, and I am never speechless. Even if you had no intention of ever visiting Bucharest, you should go just to spend time in this hotel. The decor is gorgeous and manages to modernise a bygone era with style and charm. The staff are attentive and helpful with service that feels like you have travelled back to a time when hotels understood guest care and customer service. ||I travel all of the time and sometimes, I mess up arrangements. But this time I really excelled. Upon arrival it transpired that I had booked Budapest and not Bucharest. Even I am not normally this stupid especially since Geography and travel are my special interests. The staff were truly amazing. They found us a room and even upgraded us whilst also calling the other hotel to arrange for a refund. They were kind and caring and supportive whilst also being incredibly professional. A combination rarely found these days I find. ||We loved the tranquil atmosphere of the stunning bar and yet more delightful staff. We will return as soon as possible to try the restaurant with its selection of taster menus. Expensive compared to the city, but if the restaurant resembles everything else, then I am sure it will be worth it.

One of the finest hotels in Europe! The suites are absolutely stunning — beautifully designed and exceptionally comfortable. The staff at both reception and the restaurant are incredibly courteous and well-trained, offering top-tier service throughout my stay. I also visited the bar and had one of the best coffees in Bucharest. The atmosphere there is calm, stylish, and perfect for relaxing or working. From cleanliness to service, every detail is executed flawlessly. Truly an outstanding experience — thank you to the entire team! I will leave you with a pictures and video😍

My wife and I stayed recently at the relatively newly opened Corinthia Bucharest for 3 nights.||We had an amazing stay, the properly is spectacular, lovingly refurbished over several years, only opening in late March this year.||All of the rooms are suites and we were fortunate to stay in a superior suite. Fabulously comfortable and luxurious. Extremely spacious, with separate living room with sofa and table chairs. Amazing views to the city of Bucharest.||The staff are without exception excellent, they really seem to care about you as guests as well as the hotel, with genuine interactions from housekeepers, reception, concierge and management.||We ate at both restaurants for dinner and would thoroughly recommend both, with contrasting styles and cuisine but great nonetheless.||We saw the gym and spa which again looked in keeping with the 5* nature of this hotel.||Location is excellent, you can easily walk around Bucharest, yet only 30 minutes or so from the main airport by car.||We would highly recommend this hotel, we hope it does well and we look forward to returning in the future. Certainly looking at the comparative properties in Bucharest this must be the best.

By far the best hotel in Bucharest. I highly recommend as the entire experience is the highest standard of luxury. The amenities are top of the line, the spa is very comfortable and enjoyable for an afternoon rest. The dinner was exquisite. 5 stars alll around

From the moment we checked in to the moment we left, we had a 5* experience.||As we were staying for a night to celebrate my wife’s birthday and a wedding anniversary, we were amazed to receive a complimentary upgrade to a luxurious suite.||The drinks, food and facilities in the room, the bar and restaurant were fantastic and staff were incredibly attentive. A special thank you to the concierge Christina who went above and beyond to make our stay that extra bit special.||An amazing experience we will never forget.

I thought the Corinthia was pretty good - very pricy by Bucharest standards, but the rooms were nice and the location is convenient. My biggest complain is the limited dining options, especially since even as a hotel guest it was totally impossible to get a table at Sass, which in any event was super loud and not the kind of place I'd want to have dinner. I tried the restaurant by the lobby (I forget the name) and the options were pretty limited.

My stay at Corinthia Bucharest was absolutely world-class – a clear 10/10 and without doubt the best hotel experience in Bucharest. I know all the other leading hotels in the city, but none reach the level of Corinthia. The front office and concierge team were beyond outstanding. This was truly boutique luxury, with service on a level I usually only find at Four Seasons, St. Regis or the Ritz (Paris & London) – but here with even more personal touch and warmth. Cristina (concierge) was exceptional: she not only gave us a spontaneous bilingual tour of the hotel, taking time to explain everything, but she also handled my check-in when my Amex didn’t work and immediately found a smooth solution – professional, calm, and very kind. Alexandru (head fo) was a sensational host – he personally took my booking and everything he promised was delivered exactly as stated. Extremely professional, experienced and at the same time very approachable. We even bonded when he noticed my festival wristbands – such a human and authentic connection. Alexandru (concierge) was equally remarkable: always attentive, friendly and very professional. He managed my late check-out perfectly, even though I was a bit late myself – staying calm and polite at all times. On top of that, I received an extraordinary upgrade – many thanks to the management and the front office. Small but meaningful touches made the experience unforgettable: a bottle of Romanian wine with a handwritten turndown note – the wine even came from the region of my mother, which made it extra special. I don't know if it was planned or coincidental, but the gift was a hit and I gave the wine to my mother. The hotel itself is stunning: the high-quality flower décor, the sense of heritage and history, the beautiful paintings, statues, and preserved architectural details all create a truly grand atmosphere. The Heritage Bar was a highlight – with its private rooms, elegant design, fantastic cakes and warm service, it felt like stepping into another world. Housekeeping was invisible but perfect – everything spotless, even details like dust-free frames high up on the wall. And one young blonde staff member of the spa (around 30) even remembered me just from a previous visit to Sass months ago – that kind of memory and personal recognition is simply world-class. If I had to mention one improvement for management: Amex acceptance should be standard in a hotel of this category. Many luxury travelers prefer American Express, and it was surprising that neither the hotel nor Sass accepted it. I have been staying in the world’s top luxury hotels for over 15 years and know how to compare at the very highest level. In Bucharest I know virtually all relevant houses – and Corinthia is the new superstar on the horizon, raising the bar significantly in terms of service quality. Absolutely recommended – and I have already shared my experience with many followers and friends. Several of them are now planning trips to Bucharest just to stay at the Corinthia, which makes me happy to see. Corinthia is the clear winner in the city, and I cannot wait to return.

The Heart and Soul of the Place – Petre Makes It Unforgettable!||From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was buzzing with a fun, sassy energy that made us feel instantly welcome. But the real standout of our experience was Petre — what an absolute gem!||Petre’s service was not only flawless, but it came with a warmth and friendliness that’s rare to find. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, entertained, and always smiling. His charm, humour, and vibrant personality truly brought the place to life — he’s the kind of person who makes everyone feel like a VIP.||Petre isn’t just a staff member — he’s the life of the party and an absolute asset to the company. If you’re lucky enough to be looked after by him, you’re in for a fantastic time!||Highly recommend a visit — and here’s hoping Petre is on shift when you do!
