"Why we love it: A luxury resort with top-notch amenities in the heart of Malta The Highlights: - A variety of room types to accommodate all travelers - Five on-site bars and restaurants, including the historic Villa Corinthia - A regal pool surrounded by loungers and gardens The Review: In 1959, the Pisani family patriarch bought the historic Villa Refalo, intending for it to be a home for him, his wife, and their six children, as well as a restaurant. When he died unexpectedly, his children took over the property, first turning it into a wedding hall, and then a luxury hotel called Corinthia Palace. Even though the Pisanis have since expanded the Corinthia brand to 14 hotels around the world, they still own and operate the Malta original, running it with all the amenities required of a five-star stay. Here, guests find five bars and restaurants, a swanky outdoor pool and garden area, tennis courts, a deluxe spa and fitness center, and friendly, attentive service. The afternoon tea, served in your choice of British or Maltese style in the Orange Grove Brasserie, is a must, while the daily breakfast spread is generous and tasty. Ranging from superior rooms to executive suites, accommodations feature comfy beds and private balconies or terraces. All come with complimentary access to the Athenaeum Spa, but higher category options also include entry to the Executive Lounge, where guests can enjoy a daily breakfast buffet and complimentary wine, spirits, and canapés each evening. Speaking of the spa, it's currently being renovated and will be unveiled in April 2020 with a new design byGoddard Littlefair, a new parternship with ESPA for treatments, and new facilities includingseven treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge, and a thermal area."
Just back from a very enjoyable week here. Despite a few early minor teething problems with a long wait to get into our room and some key card and safe battery issues (which were all very professionally handled by the great reception staff), everything else went smoothly during our week.||The hotel is in lovely grounds so plenty of greenery around. The pool area is large with plenty of good sunbeds, towels and parsols. Poolside drinks service is available although it can be a little slow at times and prices are high compared to bars locally or in Valletta. Good wifi by the pool.||We had a third floor, refurbished grand deluxe room which was excellent. Huge very comfortable bed, great a/c which was a godsend as temperatures were 32c all week, mini bar, and a super bathroom with walk in shower and always plenty of hot water. Very nice balcony to sit on although our room was at the back of the hotel and the view wasn't terribly exciting, looking over a back street and a neighbouring property pool. There's also a busy road close by so a bit noisy but you can't hear it in the room. Special mention to the housekeeping staff especially Manoj who kept our room clean and immaculate the whole time and kept us well stocked with water, always with a smile and cheerful conversation. All the staff generally throughout the hotel are really nice.||Other than breakfast, we didn't eat at the hotel as we prefer to spread the love and try different local restaurants on any holiday we do (I have reviewed those places separately). Other guests told us the food was very good and breakfast was certainly always very nice.||We used the courtesy bus into Valletta once which was great, but local buses are often packed so better to use Bolt. Check what day cruises are in and avoid if possible as one day Valletta was heaving with two large ships in, but on a second day we went in there were no cruises and it was much more enjoyable. Same with Mdina, get there early, Bolt from hotel is €10.||There are no supermarkets very close by but if you do need water or sandwiches, or soft drinks/beer to take away, there's a small kiosk at the entrance to San Anton gardens across the road which does them.||We'd definitely return and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Malta. Suited us to be just outside Valletta rather than in the chaos of the city or the areas with the mass hotel developments like Sliema.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Corinthia Palace. The hotel is stunning and the staff couldn't do enough to make our time there enjoyable. The hotel is a little inland away from the busier resorts/towns in Malta. We didn't find this a problem and used Bolt most days to take us where we wanted to go. The hotel also run a courtesy bus which leaves at 10am each morning into Valetta. The San Anton gardens are just opposite the hotel and nice for a stroll around. The village of Balzan is also nearby where there's a couple of lovely restaurants and bars. Can't wait to return!

Let’s start with the positives:|The staff could not be more helpful. They always greeted us with smile and tried to resolve all our issues. The service was truly 5 ⭐️ And the rooms are really big. Around 39m2 plus balcony.|But…. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. They provide a shuttle bus 1x day to Valletta (10 am there, 4pm back). If these times don’t work for you you have to take taxi (we used Bolt, great service and no more than 7 minutes wait) and it is around 10-13 € to Valletta, €10 to Mdina and €19 to Marsaxlokk |Having said that, if you don’t want to eat in the hotel, there is no other restaurant within walking distance.|As I said- the rooms are big but outdated. They have handful of renovated ones, but you have to specifically ask for those.|We have stayed on the top floor (3rd) and had to ask for a room change because the aircon units which are on the roof where sending humming and vibrating noise to our room. (The staff relocated us without problem, they were polite and supportive)|The pool area is nice, but (in my opinion) can do with a bit of a spruce up. |I guess my standards are high. I won’t be returning to this hotel.

We checked out of our hotel in Sliema 3 days early as although it was 5* it wasn’t great and we then found this little gem - I’m so glad we did. The hotel is classically beautiful, set in a secret garden. The pool is tranquil with plenty of spaced out seating and shade. The numerous restaurants are perfect and there is something for everyone. A few reviews on here say some of the areas are dated but I disagree - it’s all classically beautiful. For the first time in years I didn’t want to go home at the end of the holiday. Thank you to all the staff for a truly perfect holiday.

Everything about this hotel is fabulous, from the minute you arrive until you leave, the whole experience was wonderful. The location, in the middle of the island, suited us as we hired a car for a few days, but the local bus service, available nearby, is another option. Our room was large with a very big balcony (a couple of sun loungers would have been a useful addition as the table and two chairs looked a bit lost). The atmosphere in the hotel was always calm and peaceful, which was just what we were looking for. Service was excellent, cleanliness the same and our requests for more pillows, and a change of duvet were sorted very efficiently. All in all a wonderful stay for us here and would definitely return if ever we chose Malta as a holiday destination. In fact, the hotel made the holiday. |One mention is the fact that we were in a room that overlooked the area where weddings, receptions and conferences were staged. This was not a problem. We "gate crashed" the wedding from above (we were on the third floor) and had the pleasure of meeting the bride and groom at breakfast the next morning. However every morning and every evening the next door dogs made their presence felt !!!|Wasn't a problem for us, but may be for some.|All in all a wonderful first visit to Malta, made extra special by the Corinthia Palace.|Thank you to all the staff for looking after us so wonderfully well.

Amazing place, extremely comfortable atmosphere and very nice stuff. The rooms are clean and cosy. The swimming pool is like an oasis. The gardens are so quiet and beautiful. The location is on 5 min with a taxi to Valletta. Highly recommend it!

Greeted by Ramesh who was so welcoming and took our bags from us and also was so helpful when we were leaving, such a friendly face. The staff by the pool were so quick to help, service was fast and was such a lovely bunch of people. The PERFECT hotel which managed to blend genuine luxury with a relaxed and warm environment. The lobby and rooms etc were lovely and the main dining area frankly was amazing and lovely experience in itself. The staff, every single one was so attentive, pleasant but also professional whether in the restaurant or just passing in a corridor - this really set it apart for us. Food excellent, location excellent (with many nice restaurants within 5-10min walk). Outside pools were lovely. The gym was amazing, with top quality equipment. Bahia was excellent and not bad value compared to UK equivalents.
