Yelp
KUDOS to the Chef -- amazing food! Perfect beer & wine selections! Charming view! ...but...
I would have EASILY given this restaurant 5 stars -- it has THAT MUCH going for it! But waitstaff definitely need some coaching up. So this review is not meant to crush, but hopefully to correct some things that need attention. It would appear this restaurant is trying hard to make customers feel they care about a healthy environment, as we were "zapped" by the thermometer the minute we entered, without warning. At least they were trying! We are the type of customers who truly don't fuss about the little things. We know running a restaurant can be challenging, especially in these days -- but these are some things that went wrong... Waitress wore mask, then didn't, then did, then didn't. The other waitress wore hers...on her chin.
We ordered beers and starters first. Beers came out wrong & one had a piece of straw paper in it. But guess what? We fished out the paper and drank them anyway. Never even mentioned it to our waitress.
We ordered wine next, still waiting on the starters. Wine was yummy & we were enjoying the charming view, when the waitress dropped off our side salads and walked away. After we could catch her eye again, we called her back to tell her that we were hoping for our starters first. She seemed irritated with the suggestion and said they were still working on it, mentioned she was having a bad day -- and walked away.
She returned a while later with our starters, which were beautiful and delicious!! Again -- wow, Chef. Everything was wonderful! But, before we were finished, or even begun on our salads, the waitress sets down our entrees. And they were cold. Not lukewarm, but cold. Likely, the entrees were ready before the starters were even finished.
The waitress was clearly busy, but she did not pause to listen, or to write anything down, or we probably wouldn't have had any issues. And sorry, but unless your customer is disrespectful, or has an unreasonable request (which neither are acceptable behavior), I don't understand how or why waitstaff respond with an attitude.
I realize that not everyone is concerned with masks, and that's fine. We aren't always either. But, if you step into my space with taking my temperature without asking, but then fail to wear a mask when you are at my table, then we've got some inconsistencies. And please. I really would love my order to be correct, and delivered in correct order.
Our waitress knew that we were displeased, but it didn't matter to her. And still, we tipped her well, because that's how we roll. Hopefully, the restaurant can coach up because it really is an amazing, charming place with a European-feel, and has so much potential!
