"For dinner on the drive back from Austin, Cork and Keg is a must-stop. Enjoy a charcuterie board, followed by a fig and Hamon flatbread, and finish it with pork shanks. Wednesday nights bring half-off bottles of wine." - Courtney E. Smith, Amy McCarthy

I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. They were sitting in a pool of melted tobasco butter. The shrimp were perfect but the grits were not fully cooked. My husband has the bison burger which he said was really good. There were still Christmas decorations up and other than that a notable lack of decor. The service was good but many items on the menu were unavailable.

Had a spur-of-the-moment lunch here. I’ll be completely honest: we ate here because we couldn’t find another certain place where we had planned to eat. That said, with zero expectations, Cork & Keg was fantastic! Quick service, great ambience, and quaint food. Next time we come, it’ll be on purpose 😉

Google
We ate here one evening a week ago, the food was great and reasonable pricing. The place is small with not a lot of seating so make a reservation. We got in at the time but several groups after us who came in without a reservation were turned away. Great local place we will be back to

Google
The service was wonderful nice little spot very clean but this was absolutely the worst ribeye steak I have ever got it was so tough I could not hardly eat it the picture shows what I ate (carried back to hotel, ended up in garbage)I decided just to leave instead of sending it back for the price i paid almost $40 for a ribeye it was awful ,would not go back.Wife salmon was good but over salted and tortellini was cold .okay good side beer was cold. I am not normally long-winded on post but I was expecting a lot more out of this place. Lastly the Oysters Rockefeller was super delicious but only got four oysters for $16 very overpriced.

Google
Great food, service, and atmosphere! Our server was very nice and fast! The food portions were great. We had the meatloaf and salmon and finished off dinner with the best cheesecake!

Google
We tried Cork & Keg today for the first time for Mother's Day brunch and had a wonderful time. We were greeted by the cutest little boy who handed me a flower. Their brunch was delicious! I enjoyed my biscuits and gravy but my daughter's french toast was soooo good! Portions are BIG! I highly recommend trying them out.

Google
We had some drinks and food. Crab cakes we very fishy and extremely small for the price. Spinach artichoke dip was on point. Taps are not cold. Definitely not worth the money to expensive for their own good! Sent the meal back and we never send food back. Manager refused to come out and see us to see what was wrong.

Google
Great experience and a wonderful menu. Pork chop is out of this world. I'd put the red fish up against anywhere else. Only complaint is that the Old Fashioned I ordered used 'regular' bar ice and had a marichino cherry. Hopefully they can get some craft ice and proper cherries next time we visit.

Yelp
Here's the short and dirty; Great concept, cute place to sit and dine, nice selection of dishes on the menu, great food, but service and drinks -not so much! It takes forever to get even just a beer, much less a cocktail, which weren't very good. What keeps bringing me back are the main plates, especially the salads and the meatloaf, which are really good. If only the service, menu availability and bar were better and more organized it would be a five star spot!

Yelp
This is my second review of cork and keg and after waiting a year to return we will not go back. I do NOT understand the hype. See my photo for my original review. Our first visit we had a table of 7 and few thought their meal was excellent. Just decent was the sentiment. This time we had a table of four and all agreed to never return (our guests were part of the original group of 7). We all ordered something different and none of it was great. Chicken Parm - cold, super tough and flavorless Roasted chicken - it was served hot but not great flavor Bison Burger - completely dry Margarita Flatbread - was good I see so many people recommend this place and it was crowded. I am a huge foodie and for the price it's not worth the hype.

Dee M.

Yelp
Tasty selections from the kitchen! Flatbreads were super good. Nice place to come in for dinner or just a glass of wine with an app. Right seating in small room, but honestly didn't feel cramped. Service was friendly and helpful both times we were there.

Yelp
This place left a lot to be desired. We went here from a recommendation from a friend speaking highly of it especially for waxahachie. Unfortunately my fiancé and i weren't very impressed. The drink i ordered tasted like water and the pork chop i was looking forward to was rare in the middle so i couldn't fully enjoy it of course. My fiancé did enjoy her burger, hence the two stars though. Probably won't be coming here again. Side note: the inside of the place is very nice though

Ebony D.

Yelp
Walked in -.never greeted -had to ask a employee where to go - who do we speak with to get a table . .. was told it would be 25 min for a table so we opted for the bar - after getting drinks and asking to place an order - the server kept asking us to give her a min. Once I asked for a manager - it was then told it would be another 30 min before I could place an order. Unprofessional - the server didn't care that we had already waited 30 min - she ignored us and continued to serve everyone else- I watched 3 other parties come in - order drinks and two were eating salads -all arriving af It was pretty sad to see the only two black patrons be treated this way

Natalie T.

Yelp
I highly recommend recommend the bruschetta, the cheese board and the flat breads!!! Always fantastic! Service is also very good and I love love the small town vibe. When you walk in it can be confusing, there's usually nobody by the door and it is not clear if you have to wait to be seated or if you can just seat anywhere, but we went to the bar area for assistance and were promptly guided to our table. I've also heard great things about their roasted chicken. If you want some great food in a casual setting make sure you visit them!

Kasey G.

Yelp
Love visiting this little spot when we come through Waxahachie! The food is Sooo good!! This place is tucked away on a side street, and so worth the visit!

Ray L.

Yelp
Great food in a great place, but the service is lacking. At one time it was a great date night place but lately it seems like no one is in charge of the wait staff. Service is chaotic and dressed in sloppy clothes. On one visit we literally had to step over someone on the stairs watching his iPad. The food has always been great but if they could make adjustments and improve the service atmosphere and it would be an incredible place.

Sarah B.

Yelp
It was a disappointing evening. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner anticipating a great meal for the both of us. I had to order three times to find something they actually had available .... He ordered the beef tenderloin. I ended up with the meatloaf which was nit what I wanted but enjoyed. His steak was not good. He would not allow me to protest for him, but if it were my 50$ steak, I would have. We will not be returning. It's too expensive to possible have to pay for nit great food ....

Rusty S.

Yelp
I would give this place 5 stars if you could eat there without smelling like you manned the grill yourself. Food is great; esp spinach dip and meatloaf, good wine selection as expected. Just ruins a nice date night to have to immediately do laundry haha

Steve J.

Yelp
Food was good, drinks were great, staff was pleasant and polite. I'd go back again. Sit upstairs if you aren't in the mood for the hustle and bustle of the bar. Good place with a mix of crowds.

Lana Y.

Yelp
Last minute we decided to check this place out for a special birthday dinner and we were glad we chose Cork & Keg. This is a small place right off the Waxahachie Downtown Square with street parking. I first called to see if we needed a reservation since it was a Saturday night, in which you don't have to have one but it is a good idea. Since we went at 5pm, we got right in without really needing a reservation. There were several tables with guests at that time but we were immediately greeted and our drink order was taken. The food was delicious, I had the chicken fried steak served with a side salad and two sides and my guest had the pork chop also served with a side salad and two sides. You must try this small place out and then take a walk around the square so many great things to discover downtown.

Esequiel L.

Yelp
My Wife and I have been dining at This Restaurant since they opened up . It's our go to place ,the service and food are Great! Carlos the Chef always has a mix in his menu.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
My husband and I were headed to lunch at a different restaurant when we walked past this place and decided to give it a try instead. We are SO happy we did. We've now been 3 times and the menu is delicious every time. The pork chop is tender. The steak salad is perfectly cooked. The chicken pimento sandwhich is juicy. The Spinach Artichoke dip is definitely our favorite starter. The meatloaf is waaaaay better than grandma made and literally melts in your mouth. Whatever you pick you honestly can't go wrong. The servers are all great but Jason is the best by far. Super friendly and attentive. Knows the menu well and just has an overall enjoyable presence. We are happy to become regulars at this spot!

Scott D.

Yelp
The food was above average, but the service was deplorable. We ordered two appetizers and two glasses of wine at the same time. 20 minutes after we ordered I excused myself from the table and walked back to where what appeared to be the bartender, waitress and manager sitting there Bs'ing. I excused myself for interrupting but asked if it would be too much to get another drink. 10 minutes later they brought two glasses of wine. When I inquired as to the whereabouts of our food she said it should be soon. 45 minutes later three other tables were served their food we finally got our appetizers. The service here is low class and worse!

Latecia V.

Yelp
Great little place to eat. Home town feel with a modern flare. I ordered the roasted salmon and my guest ordered the chicken parmigiana. Both were great. Service and greeting by the host were welcoming and attentive. Drink menu features a good variety of craft beer, house specialty cocktails, and an assortment of wine. Only thing missing was dessert-I didn't see any offering on the menu. Overall, great experience and will be back again soon.

Millicent G.

Yelp
The food was fantastic. Service was great. Small place. It was our first time there. Shrimp and grits really good. Brussel sprouts are good too. End your meal with one of their desserts. Definitely going back.

Dawn S.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING! We had the meatloaf and Margherita flatbread. Our wonderful waiter even chased us a block to find our car because I left my credit card!!

Mike M.

Yelp
I was reading reviews and was really excited to try this place. They were closed for a long time. Place is small and it was so Smokey from the kitchen. I had the chicken fried steak & my wife the meatloaf. Just didn't see why their reviews were so good, but clearly they have a following. We may be back to give them another try.

Yelp
KUDOS to the Chef -- amazing food! Perfect beer & wine selections! Charming view! ...but... I would have EASILY given this restaurant 5 stars -- it has THAT MUCH going for it! But waitstaff definitely need some coaching up. So this review is not meant to crush, but hopefully to correct some things that need attention. It would appear this restaurant is trying hard to make customers feel they care about a healthy environment, as we were "zapped" by the thermometer the minute we entered, without warning. At least they were trying! We are the type of customers who truly don't fuss about the little things. We know running a restaurant can be challenging, especially in these days -- but these are some things that went wrong... Waitress wore mask, then didn't, then did, then didn't. The other waitress wore hers...on her chin. We ordered beers and starters first. Beers came out wrong & one had a piece of straw paper in it. But guess what? We fished out the paper and drank them anyway. Never even mentioned it to our waitress. We ordered wine next, still waiting on the starters. Wine was yummy & we were enjoying the charming view, when the waitress dropped off our side salads and walked away. After we could catch her eye again, we called her back to tell her that we were hoping for our starters first. She seemed irritated with the suggestion and said they were still working on it, mentioned she was having a bad day -- and walked away. She returned a while later with our starters, which were beautiful and delicious!! Again -- wow, Chef. Everything was wonderful! But, before we were finished, or even begun on our salads, the waitress sets down our entrees. And they were cold. Not lukewarm, but cold. Likely, the entrees were ready before the starters were even finished. The waitress was clearly busy, but she did not pause to listen, or to write anything down, or we probably wouldn't have had any issues. And sorry, but unless your customer is disrespectful, or has an unreasonable request (which neither are acceptable behavior), I don't understand how or why waitstaff respond with an attitude. I realize that not everyone is concerned with masks, and that's fine. We aren't always either. But, if you step into my space with taking my temperature without asking, but then fail to wear a mask when you are at my table, then we've got some inconsistencies. And please. I really would love my order to be correct, and delivered in correct order. Our waitress knew that we were displeased, but it didn't matter to her. And still, we tipped her well, because that's how we roll. Hopefully, the restaurant can coach up because it really is an amazing, charming place with a European-feel, and has so much potential!

Yelp
A hidden gem! Went here on Christmas Eve. Very pleasantly surprised! Service by Angela was superb. I had the salmon which came with tortellini was wonderful. Husband had the pork chop which came with mashed sweet potato and Brussel sprouts. Very good. However by the time he got to the middle of the pork chop it was raw. Rather than return it we took it home to cook later. The manager, Carlos, took off our bill. Also had the Lemon something martini which was so good I had another. Lol. I'm so glad we found this place! Highly recommend.

Yongie Raines ..

Yelp
Great tasting good, nice atmosphere, friendly and well trained staff. A must go to place if you're visiting Waxahachie or passing through.

Alisha C.

Yelp
So...this was my 2nd time going here...first time when I walked in the door, they were newly opened, I was asked if I wanted to go upstairs...really not putting much thought into it...I said sure why not...thoughts were running thru my head as...there was no one upstairs but a fairly good amount of people downstairs...so we had a couple glasses of wine ..paid.. then left...so fast forward to today...met a friend, once again walked in and was asked if we wanted to go upstairs..there was a table of people downstairs eating..no one upstairs but me and my friend...my friend said she felt some type of way..another couple entered and they were seated downstairs...we had our food and wine but was then asked if we were going to chill or if we needed our check...we chose the check as we were already feeling some type of way...corks and keg I tried to give y'all the benefit of the doubt but I somehow left feeling again like blacks to the back of the bus...oysters were delicious but I will take my hard earned change somewhere else...and yea I even tipped the waitress even though we didn't get a chance to chill after paying our bill.... Didn't want to give a star but couldn't post without it ...

Wendy S.

Yelp
Loved this place! Was there for brunch a while back and I had the eggs Benedict and a Bloody Mary. Perfect! Second visit for a cozy Saturday afternoon for craft beers and spinach dip. Nice atmosphere, great service, highly recommend!

Lauren R.

Yelp
Due to covid, my boyfriend and are making special date night by support small businesses in surrounding communities. The staff was friendly and the food was tasty. I was bummed that the specials I saw on Facebook weren't offered the day I went.

Nicki P.

Yelp
I hate to give anything less than 5 star reviews on anyplace in Waxahachie..as I love this town..but I can't get over how much the price was inflated on wine. I had my family of 6 with me, very large food order totaling $120 at least, (food seasoned with a lot of cajun seasoning, do be aware if your sensitive to spice like some of my kids were) i enjoyed the shrimp and grits....and a bottle of wine for my husband and I to share and take home. This bottle is what infuriates me, taste was nice, but cost $44. Same bottle I found at HEB grocery days later for $6. What a markup! I eat and shop at small business because I love to support them, but price gouging I cant abide by. Better for me to come here for a meal..versus drinks...but most likely I would not return, just feel too taken advantage of.

Michelle P.

Yelp
what a great restaurant serving fantastic food and an amazing brunch. i love what the new owners (great people) have done to the place as they continue to serve up some pretty solid offerings. everything ordered did not disappoint and a few dishes are on repeat (*) items ordered: fig & hamon flatbread *redfish shrimp & grits *roasted salmon creole seafood pasta bruschetta drunken mussels *bavarian pretzel brunch: creole deviled eggs monkey bread *cork & keg hash *caramel apple french toast eggs benedict (excellent hollandaise) nutella crepes drinks: lemon flower martini nuts & berries hard iced coffee

Tammy T.

Yelp
I ordered salmon but they out so I ordered shrimp scampi. Won't order or go there again!

Trey S.

Yelp
My wife loves this place. She said the food is amazing and the atmosphere is great. Very small place but somewhere nice to hang out friends and family to eat.

Chelsea B.

Yelp
Highly recommend! I Had a great dining experience at the cork & keg last night. My friend and I shared the Bruschetta and cheese plate, both VERY delicious. Cheese plate consisted of so much to snack on such as a variety of crackers, nuts, a honey comb, grapes, apples, and cheeses (Gouda, port, cheddar, Brie, Cranberry). I also highly recommend trying the bacon wrapped Argentina Shrimp! In addition to the delicious menu items, the staff is very kind, our waitress, Hailey, was very attentive and helpful with wine suggestions.

Jonathan D.

Yelp
Visited on Friday. It has an intimate dining space. Reservations were a must to get a table. I'm not sure if it's like that all the time, but every table was filled this night. Great service and amazing food. We had crab cakes, steak and shrimp/grits, coconut creme brule for desert. Everything tasted freshly made. Can't wait to go back. In regards to covid safety. They were above and beyond. Hand sanitizer at the door and took temperatures. All service staff wore masks the entire time. I wish more locations in town took this same level of care.

Patrick L.

Yelp
I have had the opportunity to eat here a couple times over the last few weeks and each time it was fabulous. Then again each time I had the Shrimp and Grits which I'm not sure I'll ever eat anything else at this restaurant. They are that good! Shout out to the service as well! Both Mary Jane and Craig are right there taking care of you the whole time. Found this as a draft...from over a year ago, oh well!

Jean R.

Yelp
The pretzel alone is worth the drive to Waxahachie. We discovered this lovely spot while traveling Antique Alley. Did I mention the pretzel??? Nice selection of wine and beer. The pepperoni flatbread was perfectly crisp and spicy. Whoever slings dough here is brilliant. Oh, and they have this pretzel!!

Terry T.

Yelp
Been to this place a while back, was amazing with Pretzel. Decided to go back tonight, got in early, ordered, got salads before apps. Then paid 40 dollars for a ribeye. Thinking it would be thick an juicy. Not at all. 1/4 in ribeye and my friends ordered the meatloaf. Dry and terrible. Taste like BBQ. Would not recommend. Which is sad!!!! I am always looking for good non chain spots.!!!

Dawn B.

Yelp
The food was a little $$ but was ok. Took our boys there for lunch. Nothing memorable and I won't go back. But it was a nice lunch

Lisa D.

Yelp
We've eaten here several times and the food and service are always excellent! Have tried a variety of dishes as well; all wonderful!

Scott D.

Yelp
Properly cooked, flavorful dishes with good service. If you sit outside, beware of the mosquitos but other than that we have always had positive experiences here.

Whitney S.

Yelp
My husband and I loved it soo much!! Waitress was soo friendly and super helpful! It's an intimate setting and we liked that a lot! Nothing disappointed!! We will def go back!!

Z B.

Yelp
Service was good. It's nice to have the restaurant open again. Great food! The blueberry old fashions were great! My only suggestion for them would be to use the good ice balls and the black cherries in the regular old fashions instead of chipped ice and maraschino cherries. Overall, it was great food and service as usual!

Ryanne D.

Yelp
Good ambiance, friendly service, good chat and learning of history of the town while enjoying some yummy treats and wine! Queso and hummus....delicious! Quaint, cozy and comfortable. Restroom is clean.....listen to ghost stories while chatting, very interesting

Mary P.

Yelp
We came late afternoon and had an appetizer, dinner and drinks. Everything was excellent!! We will return without a doubt!

Cory K.

Yelp
No complaints about the food we actually got here..which was just an appetizer...30 minutes after being seated. We got our drinks after we finished the appetizer. Bottom line, an hour and twenty minutes, never got our entree. Worst service we have ever had....period. We will not be back.

Milly C.

Yelp
Not what I expected. Too expensive for what we got served total rip off. Very disappointed with the food.

Judith W.

Yelp
So disappointed! No crab cakes? No Hummus dip?No steak?, because they are too expensive to buy from their current supplier? $10.95 wedge salad was tiniest we have ever had. We have been there 3 times before and it was great, but it felt like the restaurant is getting ready to close? Just not the same vibe that it has had the last 3 times we visited. Hoping that we just got there on a very off night. We have no problem paying for a great meal, but our meal overall was a 2 out of 10.

Rhonda L.

Yelp
Really neat place in downtown Waxahachie. Cool vibe, really good food. We had the crab cake appetizer, which was delicious! My husband had the salmon, and it was awesome. I had the shrimp & grits. Good menu options. Our only suggestion....more beer on tap please.

Laurel Y.

Yelp
Service was horrible. I don't want to be mean so I'll leave it at that. Food did not come out hot. Which goes back to the service. The waitress didn't even bother to check on us after the food was (dropped off). The photos of the food were gorgeous. And I feel there is a lot of potential here. My ribeye left a lot to be desired however it was not bad. Our meal for three was $110.04 and I would have been more satisfied with the service at a McDonalds with a broken ice cream machine.

Chris R.

Yelp
Great place for a date night! Food and drinks were great. It is an intimate place, so definitely call for a reservation in advance.

Dawn B.

Yelp
This place is awesome!!! Best food. Perfect Filet Steak. Terrific atmosphere. Great Wines. Great Service

Kathleen S.

Yelp
I'm new to town and decided to try this place with a few of my friends who recently moved to north Dallas area. We were all super impressed! I have to admit I'm super critical, but only have positive things to say about my experience. Waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. Food was outstanding! Can't wait to visit again - this will definitely be a regular hot spot to bring friends and family!

Tina F.

Yelp
Food was good; slightly overpriced. Came at 9pm and based on Google they are open until 11pm. -5 minutes after we ordered our 2nd bottle of wine we were told we needed to leave.....with the lights being turned off. When told we had seen the hours online the owner argued with is. Unfortunately we will have a bad taste in our mouth now for a local place that could have been great.
