The 22 Best Restaurants in Cork, Ireland - Eater

"Cork Coffee Roasters supremo John Gowan is the godfather of the city’s modern coffee scene. Here the coffee is rock-solid and pastries are thoughtfully chosen, but there is equal pleasure to be derived from the ambience in this tiny space that evokes the cluttered wooden intimacy of a Nantucket whaler’s cabin. Situated at one of the city’s major confluences, it affords a perfect post for watching people and the day go by. [$]" - Joe McNamee

This review is about sustainability only! 🙂 I’m so grateful to have found this coffee shop in Cork, and was especially pleased to see that you offer real, reusable mugs to customers who asked for them. That said, it seems that many customers in-house did not know about the available reusable mugs. Maybe there is more you can do to easily communicate this option to those who may be interested. Perhaps that means having barista‘s ask customers directly if they want a mug for here. Or maybe that means featuring real mugs on your social media, or somehow incentivizing or promoting the use of usable mugs, that people either bring on their own or borrow from you in house. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish, and it would be wonderful to see waterfront cities, such as yours help everyday people be better to our environment. Thank you for your consideration, and for the delicious coffee!

Google
Quite disappointed. Looking for specialty coffee while traveling, this place was recommended. However, nothing about it is specialty coffee. No roast date on bean packages, limited info on origin; No latte art; Cocoa powder on top of the milk. Very bitter espresso extraction. Limited hygiene behind espresso machine. 2 stars because of the nicely decorated interior with the roast machine in the center and the (reasonably) friendly staff. Don’t come here if you‘re a coffee lover, you can get this kind of taste at any gas station vending machine.

Google
Good casual café in central Cork with good vibes. The barista was a lovely Brazilian fellow who loved chatting to everyone, making the experience very wholesome. The coffee was great - I'd definitely recommend anyone to try this place!

Google
Good coffee but honestly this is a 10/10 on the music choice, whoever is in-charge is playing tune after tune, we loved it. One of the staff forgot my order but was so lovely and made up for it straight away 🫶

Google
Exceptional café with perhaps the best coffee in Cork city, hence why they have multiple outlets. This one has a cozy feel and decent seating - the window seats are especially nice. Staff are always friendly and the sweet snacks on offer are decent quality.

It’s my last stop in Cork, but I’ll say it definitely not worth it! The coffee(Americano) is good, but they use paper cups for all customers, which is very not eco friendly. And one of their female staffs is very very rude. She rolled her eyes when I told her I wanna eat in rather than takeaway. I got a wrong flavor of my pastry, and it even tasted like raw dough… What a disappointing experience🙁

Google
Nice staff. Good atmosphere. Has a good selection of drinks, and a few bakery items. About 15 seats inside. A great place to stop for a coffee break

Google
It's a lovely coffee house with great coffee and a friendly weitress, she made latte art for me! I can't wait to come back to taste their pastry. Edit: the pastries are tasty too Edit 2: I have tried the coffee both takeaway and in the shop. It's great either way

Yelp
Coffee is great, however, if you place an order with them, do not anticipate getting it. When you do not receive your order, they will not respond to your email or phone calls to inquire of the status. They also will not refund your money for the order you haven't received in over 3 months. So you will not get your orders and they will steal your over 400 Euros and refuse to respond. Classy, classy, classy.

Yelp
Barista was extremely rude and crabby when asked very simple questions. Caught her rolling her eyes multiple times. Coffee was pretty good, so i'd reccomend a different cork roasters location. Wouldn't go back to this shop with that barista if they paid me, she was absolutely miserable. Don't bother with this location.

Yelp
Shockingly bad. One of their staff decided he would rather serve the girls literally standing behind me than serve me. The funny thing was he had to shout across the cafe in order to get their attention as they were not even in the que. Shame, as the coffee is decent, still better coffee and service elsewhere.

Yelp
Now THIS is a damn fine iced latte! Could be the finest java I've sampled since tasting the nirvana from Fernandez & Wells over in London. Easily the best coffee in Ireland. Skip the chai though; too much milk and not enough chai.

Yelp
One of the bests coffee spots in the city. Bursting of culture when you go in and good views of the city. Always worth a visit but you might be struggling to get a seat

Yelp
Wonderful coffee and had a very lovely experience! It was my first time in Cork and everyone is so friendly, nice vibe, great coffee and lattes art! I love the quiet vibe and honestly I could stay here all day long. It is in the center of town and the coffee was tasty and wonderful, really hit the spot. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
The coffee here is divine. It is a small cafe but you can do take away.

Yelp
This was my first exposure to coffee in Cork and of all the cups I enjoyed there, which was about 8 in a couple days, this was by far the best! The place has a great little hipster vibe, but had everyday people looking dressed for work in business casual all over drinking coffees and enjoying a snack. My friend and I had latte's, perfect foam and the espresso was delicious! You should definitely try a cup, and enjoy your time in Cork! Maybe they'll open a roasters in Brooklyn, so I can enjoy it all the time. thanks for a great cup!

Yelp
Have almond croissant best I've ever had, flat white was spot on and the service nice as well. Pull up a stool or table and linger to people watch or get a take away, you won't be sorry. Trying to decide if we are splitting another croissant one was not enough. Dear hubby proclaimed coffee as grand.

Yelp
Shown it by a friend and now its tradition to head down and pick one up on the morning before we start into work. As with most things Cork and one of the things I love most about the People's Republic, Cork Coffee Roaster's is a fantastically friendly place. The decor is quirky and weird and not something I would ever have chosen. My friend, being a vertiable native to the city, always has a chat with the server, while I play with the word magnets on the back of the the coffee machine. I am like a child pre-caffeine sometimes, you want to see me but not hear me. Creating a bizarre sentence in magnets before leaving is a must. All this is great you say, but what about the coffee? I'm not he biggest coffee fanatic in the world, but I like a good cup and this place has always delivered. Delivered me from fatigue and delivered me into the world of satisfaction. You can also get your own fresh ground here, if you fancy like?

Yelp
Bridge Street is small, but has a handful of locations that seem to cater for the every whim of the hipster-about-town. CCR provides the vital "cheap people-watching haunt with great coffee" function. It's a little pokey inside, but that just means that you won't have to steep over buggies and shopping bags on your way in. This is a coffee shop for the anti-social and all the better for it. While it might sound like this a place for grumps and grouches, its still a great coffee shop. Their own blend of coffee is excellent, they've a great selection of nibbles and the service is friendly. What more could you want?

Yelp
Perfect coffee hit for a Coffee-addicted Melbournian visiting Cork. Great espresso's and a nice setup inside. Space is tight, so it would suit coffee groups of 4 or less but it just means it's cosier!

Yelp
Hi, i love coffee and once i found the Roasted coffee bar in Cork i knew that it will be perfect and it was...one of the best coffee which i ever had ;-)

Yelp
A good cup of coffee is difficult to find in Cork, let alone all of Ireland. However, Cork Coffee Roasters seems to do it right with taste and decor. It looks like your average artsy coffee shop and serves all of the standard concoctions. I had an americano and it tickled my tongue. No complaints there. Unfortunately there is no wi fi and seating is super limited. It gets crowded, but fortunately they offer to go cups. Overall, a tasty coffee spot.

Yelp
Ok, so I never do this. But today, I went to Cork Coffee Rosters on Bridge St. My card didn't work and the coffee was made. The girl was so nice about this. She let me have the coffee and come in another day to pay them back. Which, I will. I would really like to thank her, and the fact that the shop would allow their staff to allow this. You would not find this in a lot of places any more. please support this local business as they are not heartless and very understanding. To the girl, who showed understanding, fate (that I would return to pay them back) and empathy - thank you so very much. I hope karma is as good to you, as you were to me.

Yelp
CORK COFFEE ROASTERS Super Funky...Super Cool.... So says the current Bridgestone Irish Food Guide in talking up Cork Coffee Roasters in Bridge Street. Not too sure about Funky and Cool, words from the middle of the last century, the fabulous Funk Brothers out of Detroit and maestro Miles Davis with the Birth of the Cool. But the kids in Bridge Street were friendly and helpful and the coffee was excellent. The view out of the window wasn't bad either, Shandon ahead in brilliant sunshine. But it was cool outside!

Yelp
Top coffee. One of my favourites in the city. Bridge street and French church street both carry their own charm location wise.

Yelp
If you ever go to Cork you HAVE to try the coffee in this place. It's unbelievable! I used to pass by everyday to get my capuccino. They roast it themselves and you can also buy the coffee to make it at home. They have 2 different spots in the city centre so make sure to check them out!

Jasmine S.

Yelp
Coffee was good, croissant and scone -tasty! Space was small and crowded but felt homey. We would recommend to other coffee drinkers!

Yelp
This place really has something special going for it. The biggest draw from me are the window seats. What a great people watching spot. The décor is cosy and I love the ceiling. The coffee is just right, the baristas are talented and know what they're doing. Not much seating space but a perfect place to catch up with a friend or for quiet contemplation.

Yelp
Great little unique cafe for coffee- lots to look at around the walls, full of trendy people and coffee is delicious!

Yelp
Great coffee! Great Atmosphere! Quirky Vibe!

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular coffee, maybe the best I've tasted in over 50 years on the planet. Get some cups or bags to go, since your chances of finding a seat in the tiny space are slim.

Yelp
Just off the bus from Dublin, and badly needed coffee! This place was the right choice. Great coffee, easy, relaxed, funky vibe. Very busy too, which is always a good sign.

Yelp
Excellent coffee. The best in Cork by a mile and you would find it hard to beat anywhere else. The best thing is that the coffee is consistently the same quality. The only down point is the qty of the large but maybe that's just me. So 5 stars; well deserved.

Yelp
Just added Cork Coffee Roasters as I love their coffee and the little café! Mapping it went a bit awry though - sorry. It is in the wrong place. Do drop in for a coffee if on Bridge Street near Vibes & Scribes!!

Qype User (ChrisB…)

Yelp
It is the only place in Cork that does decent coffee. In fact it is one of only a handful in Ireland that does decent coffee. Anyone who has lived in Melbourne or Sydney can testify to that. Alot of the cafes down under do not hire Irish people to make coffee as they have a really bad reputation with regards to making coffee and basically not having a clue. So it is great to see anIrish owned company having some passion in this area and delivering with a great product-thank god.
