During our visit the visitor centre was closed, however the 10 km's of walkable trackway winding the bog, was so peaceful, and tranquil, definitely a must when in the area.

An amazing place. An osk road from 148BC, incredible. Some of silver birch still had it bark. It would be so good to know the real reason it was built. A wonderful free visit, the guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Worthy of 6 🌟

Fascinating place to visit. Film first to describe the discovery and preservation of the trackway, then very interesting talk by one of the excellent guides. We did the 2.5km walk around the site to see the bog and vegetation more closely

I visited on the 1st of November just before the centre closed for the Winter. A very knowledgeable staff member greeted me early morning just as they were opening. It is an interesting site that has been on my list to visit for a while and so finally I was able to stop by! The story of the discovery and preservation of the timber trackway is fascinating and most of this timeline is shown on a short film in a cinema room on site. Access to the trackway is via the main hall and I to another dedicated room. It was incredible to see. The guide who took me in was helpful, knowledgeable and through, 5* experience overall and very pleased to have been able to see this whilst in the area,!

Absolute hidden gem. Free of charge entrance with guided tour, include short video explaining the trackway history. Great stop. Guide we had on the day, was really good, interesting to listen to and had a lot of additional historical and local folklore knowledge.

A hidden gem and definitely worth the visit. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was amazing hearing through their enthusiasm about the conservation project and the different theories on why the trackway was built 148 BC. Stunning to be witness of such amazing craftsmanship. And then a lovely walk in the wetlands and learning about the restoration of the bogs.
