Had a great stay here. The room was comfortable, everything was clean, and the staff were friendly and on top of things the whole time. You can tell the place is managed really well: everything just works. Check-in was smooth, the amenities were exactly what we needed, and the service level was consistently high in a way that almost makes you wonder who’s behind it. Whoever that is, they’re doing an excellent job. Overall, an easy recommendation. I’d stay here again without thinking twice.

The Cormorant is one of the best hotels I have stayed at. The atmosphere and service level was awesome all around. Location is great and perfect for a little get away. Close to restaurants/bars and walking distance to everything. The rooms are a little small but its what you would expect from a boutique hotel. The balcony views and rooftop resturant make up for it. Fair warning, there is no on-site parking but they offer valet for $35 a night which is a decent price compare to other hotels. Shoutout to Marina for making our stay feel at home and for the great hospitality!

Pros: Great staff and great location Cons: The oceanside room I upgraded to on the third floor was directly below the restaurant, so there a constant sound of metal furniture being dragged across a hard floor repeatedly. I have no idea why there's no soundproofing put in for these "premium" rooms. I had to change my room after fully unpacking. It was disappointing and inconvenient. Thank you to Stephanie for immediately addressing my concerns and to the manager Derek for making it right the next day. For the price the room I was in was downright shabby. Scuffed walls, a chipped dresser and a shower control that felt like it was going to fall off any minute. There is no counter space in the bathroom and just a tiny glass shelf above the toliet. You can't even turn the shower on without getting wet. Poor design. I read a lot of reviews before taking a chance on this hotel and I regret staying here. I've stayed in lots of very nice hotels in big cities so I know what "boutique" should be. I stayed in the Hampton Inn Cardiff before coming to the Cormorant and that hotel felt like luxury compared to this. If it weren't for the staff and location I'd give them a one. If you look at my review history you'll see I never give bad reviews, but I wanted to save other people from wasting their money.

My love for this hotel goes beyond my visit. Not only does the Cormorant offer large, clean, comfy rooms with excellent views, they also have a rooftop bar and restaurant with super creative drinks. The beach is only a two-block walk away, and the shopping and dining options are plentiful. The greatest factor in this hotel, however, is the staff. During our visit, the staff was super friendly and attentive to our needs. They always greet you at the door! They also totally saved my booty!!!! When I was packing up to leave, I must have accidentally dropped my hearing aids on the hotel room floor. When I got home, they were nowhere to be found!! I tore apart my luggage to no avail. I reached out to the Cormorant as a last ditch effort, and their staff was able to successfully find BOTH of my tiny hearing aids!!! They're currently en route back to me, and I couldn't be happier. It would have cost me and arm and a leg to replace them. MUCH APPRECIATION TO THE WONDERFUL STAFF HERE!!!

Our first room was poorly designed and difficult to navigate. The AC blew hot air, and the fridge didn’t work. We were moved to a second room located directly across from the reception area, which made it quite noisy. The AC initially worked but soon began blowing hot, humid air. The towels were old, rough, and very small, and the duvet had visible blood stains. The only saving grace was some of the front desk staff, who were kind and genuinely tried to help.

A charming boutique hotel just a short stroll from the ocean. It is a great balance between coastal comfort and laid-back California warmth. The Birdseye rooftop restaurant was the best place to finish each day and watch the sun set!

Comfortable and well appointed room with espresso machine. Very convenient to shopping, dining and La Jolla Cove. Street noise was not a problem with hotel-provided was plugs.

I recently stayed at a beautiful hotel by the water in La Jolla, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with exceptional warmth and professionalism, making me feel like a valued guest. Their hospitality was truly outstanding throughout my stay – they went above and beyond to ensure every need was met. The hotel itself is perfectly situated just steps from the beach, offering easy access to the stunning coastline whenever you want to take in the sea breeze or enjoy a walk along the shore. Plus, the location couldn’t be better for exploring the heart of La Jolla, with all the best shops, restaurants, and attractions within walking distance. One of the highlights of my stay was the rooftop restaurant, which offers spectacular panoramic views of the ocean and the city. Dining here was an experience in itself – the atmosphere was perfect for both relaxing and enjoying delicious food. The menu was diverse, and the quality of the dishes truly matched the breathtaking setting. Overall, this hotel provided the perfect mix of luxury, convenience, and world-class service. Whether you’re in La Jolla for a relaxing beach escape or to explore the vibrant local scene, this place has it all. Highly recommend!
