Cornerstone

"Owner-chef Shane Osborn of Arcane fame calls it an ‘Australian café’ – in fact, it feels more like a hip bistro with its faux-industrial décor. The small menu is a tapestry of global culinary cultures, including Aussie, European and Asian favourites. Though it changes a few times each month to keep things fresh, dishes are always competitively priced and loaded with big flavours and pleasing textures. Online reservations only." - Michelin Inspector

The best steak sandwich in Hong Kong. Excellent casual eatery with the most delightful flavours. The Japanese tomato salad is delicious. The steak sandwich is the best in town hands down. Excellent eggs Benedict. Flavourful beef tartar, and a light dessert, I personally likely their coconut laminations. Great place for any time of the day, excellent brunch choice. Efficient and thoughtful service, convenient location. Highly recommended!

The dishes are innovative. Though I think the price point is a little high for the quality of food to be honest. The presentation is somewhat provocative so I was a bit disappointed by the relatively safe flavors. For a restaurant on the Michelin Guide, I would’ve liked to feel more surprised! The highlight for me The best dish was their crab risotto. The scallop dumplings and potato stacks were also delicious. I think they change their menus often so I’d give this another shot for sure.

Wonderful place. Best steak sandwich in town. Quality of all food is just fantastic and prices are very good value. A lot of vegetarian options as well. One of my favourite places for lunch in central.

Certainly one of the top quality/price ratio restaurant in town. They change the menu regularly. The food is always delicious. The service is very good too.

Brunch menu only provide until 3pm so if you want to eat Egg Benedict or Fired Tofu then you better arrive earlier but so far all of the dishes taste very good and the combination is quite special and you may not tried before. I particularly like the salad with grill peach and cheese. The taste is so good!

Great lunch 😋 👌. Had an a la carte overall food was 4-4.5/5. But Char Siu Octopus 🐙 10/5 , top level, best octopus I have ever tried. Not cheap, but worth the money, great bonus they don't charge 10% service , which in HK goes to the owners. Instead I tipped around 15% to the waiters on a credit card 💳 via paywave which will go all to the staff. Definitely gonna be back, cost 20 pax resto in city center of Central, good for small 🎂 birthday celebrations.

Been thinking about Cornerstone for a while since we’re fans of Arcane. Unfortunately, the experience was a little underwhelming. Service is great. Attentive and friendly service. But the food was kinda meh and I can’t quite figure out what was missing. For example, the scallops arrived a little cold and the overall flavors of the mains also felt nothing special. Whilst it is not crazy expensive, the prices aren’t cheap either and I expected a more unforgettable experience. The pitted olives were great though.

Small but very good restaurant, pretty pricey for what you get. We went for the set menu on new years eve. The dishes were a pleasure to eat, the service was great, very considerate and nice recommendations for drinks, I was feeling well and comfy. There are two downsides - it appeared a bit noisy and unfortunately after having finished the set menu we were still a bit hungry. After paying more than 2k HKD I feel this should not happen. So bigger portion sizes or more dishes, rest is almost perfect:)

Yelp
Heard a lot of good things about Cornerstone and came away after my meal a bit disappointed. The food here is quite simple and does taste good. However, the portion sizes are really small and I could easily eat three plates of food without a problem. So on the surface the price doesn't seem too expensive but if you have an appetite you will end up spending quite a bit. I've been to Arcane as well and didn't love it either. I imagine my palate doesn't particularly love the chef's cooking. Food: 3.5 stars Service/environment: 3.75 stars Value: 3 stars Overall: 3.5 stars Recommendations: steak sandwich (although it is really small) I came here on a Saturday afternoon and the menu was more egg focused and didn't include any of the pasta options. I ended up ordering the baby gem salad, steak sandwich and Taiyouran egg. The best thing was the steak sandwich. The bread was crunchy and had a nice soft interior. The steak is really well prepared. The sandwich though is really small and has maybe 80g of meat at best. Not a big fan of the gem salad and I prefer the more classical approach as opposed to the cooked lettuce. The Taiyoiran egg dish is a take on shakshuka. I liked the bread and the eggs but wasn't a fan of the lamb sausage. If you like your lamb to have that gamey taste then you may like it, but I prefer not to have that flavor.

Yelp
Excellent little restaurant. Delicious dishes with great presentations. Worth a visit. Do not forget to reserve. I have been four times in two weeks. The bill is on the expensive side.
