12 Adventurous First Date Restaurants in Boston | Eater Boston

"Simple in concept but generally unwieldy in practice, pasties on the menu at Cornish Pasty Co. are beasts (delicious ones) to tackle on a first date. The brave can eat these handheld meals as such, or opt for knife and fork. Try the classic bangers and mash pasty or the meatball version, and get one of the restaurant’s rotating cocktails while you’re at it — perhaps with a coquito (a combination of Fireball, white rum, creme de cocoa, RumChata, and heavy cream). There’s good beer to be had here as well." - Dana Hatic

We had a dine in experience and we loved the food and drinks that we ordered. The service was also excellent and the food was served within 15minutes. The food was so delicious, would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

This place is absolutely beautiful! The food a great as well! I got the Shepherds Pie Pasty and it was delicious. I had ordered take out after a long day at work, so did didn’t eat it here and live 30 min away. But it was still delicious and my husband even loved it. He’s a hard critic. The portions are large, so one pasty can easily feed 2 if you normally don’t eat large portions. Or save and eat the next day. We can’t wait to do a date here in future.

Difficult decision- excellent all around! Unfortunately not much available on the menu for lunch (sold out of many pasties). Excellent service and excellent pub-like atmosphere. Hope to try a location in Tucson soon.

Great place that we visited from out-of-town. Wonderful pub atmosphere, good selection of beer, and the pasties are the main attraction. Eat them by hand if you can. Several of the pasties sell out early on the weekend so the selection is better during lunch on a weekday.

Entered and it was a very slow night. First thing that I noticed was how loud the music was. The music also did not fit the British vibe of the “pub”. Our waitress verbally berated one of our guests for throwing away trash in the “kitchen only trash” that was not even in the kitchen and no signs to not use it. Very bad way to start our experience here. After the verbal lash out we attempted to order our food. We attempted to order multiple items that we were told are “not available right now” despite there being 10 total people in the restaurant including my party of 6. The list of unavailable items include, Sheppard pie, Scottish eggs, the pilgrim pasty, bread pudding and the Carmel Apple pasty. There could well be more unavailable items, these are just the ones we attempted to order and were disappointed we could not try. Now to the good of this place…the food! Despite it being a hassle to get the food we wanted we were not disappointed once the food came out. So delicious, well seasoned, and very reasonably priced. They also had a pool table you could entertain yourself with as you waited for your food to come out. Sticky toffee pudding is a MUST try from the deserts, hopefully it’s available!! Lastly the bathrooms. For a restaurant that was so clean and organized I was surprised to see paper towels all on the ground and graffiti on the trash bins. I would expect that from a circle K, not this place. Overall, terrible service and an unnecessarily loud atmosphere but some great food.

Cornish Pasty is always a solid pick with its cool, dark atmosphere and unique bar and tables. The service was excellent and super attentive, though I was bummed they were out of the Pilgrim pasty when I went. Even though some items sell out and food can take a bit during busy times, it’s still worth checking out my kids and I enjoyed our pasties, even if it had a little too much jelly.

Ordered the oggie pasty and the cubano pasty, both were stuffed with fillings and had flavorful sauces that came with them. The chips (fries) were fresh and slightly crunchy. It was pretty busy but service was quick! Lots of seating available.
