8 Warming Soups to Try in Phoenix

"Cornish Pasty Co. has been a Phoenix-area staple for nearly two decades thanks to its pasties, but its soups cannot be overlooked. For winter, there’s no more comforting soup than a classic tomato, and this version with croutons is sure to be an instant favorite." - Jamie Killin

1st time here on St. Patrick's Day. They were slammed! But this guy helped us out. Gave me a free pint of Guinness for the wait. Then I had 2 more 😊 I've been craving a ice cold Guinness🍺 for quite some time, and it was delicious!! Then my waiter asked if I wanted an Irish Car Bomb?? And I said YES PLEASE!!! Oh, it was amazing! I haven't had one in years, and they serve them every day for $5.00?! Then I ordered my Pastie. I was in heaven! Absolutely delicious! Green chili, rice, seasoned pork, and I think cheese. My new favorite food to eat in Tempe, Az. My family and I go at least once a week. The staff was friendly and the tone of the restaurant is chill. I truly enjoyed my evening. I recommend this place if you are in the area. 👍🏼

Simply the coolest restaurants in Phoenix, or anywhere else for that matter. I have said it before, but if you find yourself within 100 miles of Phoenix, the Cornish Pasty Co is a MUST! The pastry part of the Pasty is always light, flaky and perfectly prepared. And the best part is there is a flavorful meal inside that will satisfy any craving. The atmosphere is very cool with the right mix of a hole in the wall meets a little touch of class. I eat here EVERY time I am in Phoenix!

5/5 – A cozy gem with bold flavors! I had an amazing experience at Cornish Pasty Co. in Tempe! The vibe is dark, cozy, and pub-like—perfect for a chill night out with great conversation and unique eats. I tried the Baby Violette cocktail and the Lamb Vindaloo pasty, and both were absolute standouts. The Baby Violette was floral, citrusy, and perfectly balanced—definitely not your average cocktail. It felt elevated and refreshing without being overly sweet. The Lamb Vindaloo pasty was everything I hoped it would be: flaky crust, tender lamb, and a bold, flavorful curry filling with just the right level of heat. Service was friendly and laid-back, and the menu has enough variety to keep you coming back to try something new. Overall, Cornish Pasty Co. is a go-to spot in Tempe if you’re looking for something a little different with big flavors and a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend!

If you want to be transported to a British pub, the Cornish Pasty Co. will take you there. We ordered two types and they came cut in half, which was perfect. One whole pasty was very filling, so we didn't need appetizers or dessert. The crust was thin, crispy and a little buttery which was perfection! I find that too often the crust is thick and too bread-y, which takes away from the filling. These were stuffed with the filling of choice. The quality of the pasty vs. the price point was perfect. Highly recommend if you're looking for a comforting, filling meal in a fun pub-like atmosphere.

Stopped into Cornish Pasty Co. in Tempe for a quick bite and left genuinely impressed. The decor had a cozy dark pub vibe with a large bar and plenty of booth seating that was inviting and looked super comfortable. I sat at the bar area grabbed a wheat beer on tap (solid beer list overall) and had my eye on one of the soups, but they were out of their fresh bread which makes it kind of a deal breaker. Instead, I started with a Scotch egg which was decent but the real standout was the bangers and mash pasty. Total banger. The mash was full of flavor, and paired with the sausage, sage, and grilled onions, it was perfection. The crust had just a hint of flavor, letting the ingredients inside shine. Great spot, I’d definitely come back to try more.

I was in Phoenix and a local told me about this place. It was absolutely amazing. If you don't know what a Pasty is, imagine a crusty bread sealed with food inside it. Similar to a Calzone. The inside is multiple different items from a basic hamburger and fries, to Irish Stew and Shepherds Pie. They all come with a gravy, sauce or something to dip it into. For the beer lovers, the selection on tap was quite large. Sat outside and it was a fun experience. If in the Phoenix area, DONT MISS THIS SPOT.

For some reason, I thought maybe an order of pasties would be 2-4 small hand pies, like, they FIT in your hand. Each is a complete meal, or more. We only had the one encounter, but took home half of my wife's hatch chili burger in a pasty. I had Lamb Vindaloo, and we shared an order of mushy peas. FWIW, English Peas have more protein, and make a pretty nice side dish. I've onky seen these before in Fish-n-Chip parlors. Everything was excellent, except my expectations for happy hour, sip snd a nibble and do it again. Sitting out rush hour, most robust single stop happy hour 'progression' ever. Great pies.

Music, atmosphere, and amazing food makes for a memorable experience. I feel like I could come back 100 times and still find that I have more on the menu I want to try! I had the Guinness Pasty and my daughter had the Italian. We also ordered soda bread and drinks. I could only finish half and had my other half the next day and it was just as delicious!
