On the Grid : Coronation Park

"Coronation Park offers running and cycling paths, a pretty active dog park, a softball diamond, and plenty of space for picnics. off-peak, it's a lovely place for a serene moment. Like much of the surrounding area, there are commemorative nods to Canada's military history—many of the trees themselves were planted in remembrance." - NUFF

Next to the marina with a dog park, biking/hiking/jogging track along majority of the park. Lots of shade and seating chairs against the harbor/lakefront area to overlook sailboats, planes, and helicopters taking off and landing at Centre Island Airfield. Best time to plan visitation is fair weather to enjoy the fresh air and leisure view. Paid parking is mandatory unless you have a friend drop off or an Uber.

There are quite a number of mature shade trees in this rather expansive landscape that mainly features a Royal Oak Tree commemorating King GeorgeVI ‘s Coronation and First and Second World War memorials as important remembrances ..there are three ball diamonds and a dog off-leash area..this is a very popular place as the vast green area borders the shoreline of Lake Ontario..

Beautiful fun park where the squirrels are friendlier than the locals and the geese think they’re your personal trainers, chasing you around for that cardio you didn’t know you needed. Perfect for picnics as well, if you like sharing your sandwich with a dozen feathered freeloaders. 🤭

One of my fav Parks in Toronto asides from Trillium Park (next to it). Excellent place for social gatherings; picnic, mindfulness, outdoor sports, and plane watching. This park is very well maintained due to its war history. Offers relaxing shades from old trees (ps some of these trees were dedicated to Canadian soldiers). There's parking space with fees. Though no access to the bathroom.

Beautiful trees along a winding path near the lakeshore. It's a great sit-down or walking area. The dog park is particularly nice. The squirrels are also very friendly which was a nice surprise! Lovely place.

A beautiful park known as coronation park on the bank of lake shore, Toronto. Maple Leaf trees turned colourful just it is the beginning of fall. Quite, clean and well maintained calm place.

Yelp
A beautiful outdoor park located at Oakville lakeshores, this was our go place this summer with our toddler. The splash pad is fancy and huge, my once goes in doesn't wanna come out. And next to the splash pad there are washrooms just makes it easier to change. They have divided the swings into 2 sections toddler and pre schoolers which is clever, so as a parent I was not scared of someone stumbling over my kid. Lol The beach is not good for the dip, although i have seen people going in the water. Otherwise it is a huge park for a group outing. The only challenge is parking on the weekends.

Yelp
Coronation Park is a great multi-use park on the waterfront. You'll often see picnicking families, couples on a date, and runners/cyclists stopping for a break before they continue on the trail that runs along the lake shore. I go there mostly for the fantastic dog park. It is large and fully fenced, with a lovely view and a nice woodchip ground cover. Perhaps because it's a little bit further from the dense residential area, the dog park has not been too busy on the three occasions that I've visited it. With lots of shade and picnic benches, it is almost perfect. The only thing standing in the way of a 5-star rating is the lack of a water fountain. There's one near the bathrooms, not far from the dog park, but it does not have a dog fountain at the base.

Yelp
A decent size park along the Martin Goodman Trail located just east of Ontario Place. Coronation Park has three baseball diamonds, an off-leash dog park, and plenty of benches within the park. There's also a picnic area and public washrooms on the premises with limited parking along Remembrance Drive. I love running through this park as it contains ample trees which provides some shady relief during hot and sunny days, plus it's usually the turnaround point during my short runs, so this park works for me. The view of Lake Ontario is stunning by the south end of the park which always feels very zen to me. Great spot to take in the city skyline, watch the sunrise/sunset, watch the Porter planes land and takeoff, plus see the many boats moored by the two yacht clubs. Coronation Park is also a great space for events almost year round, but the spring/summer months sees plenty of races end at this location because of the vast size of the park.

Yelp
I was visiting Toronto for a long weekend and staying in Liberty Village. This park was the closest to my place and made my morning run a breeze. There's a nice loop close to the water, and another that runs further along the main drive (which is also a bike path). The paths are in nice condition and all are paved. It wasn't too busy in the park during Saturday/Sunday afternoon, or on Monday morning (except the trash man was out and about). There are some nice benches here overlooking the water, a spacious dog park (that was definitely in use), and lots of shady spots under the trees. A poutine stand was parked on the corner of Lakeshore and Strachan (although I didn't try any) if you would need a snack in the park. Not a large space, but overall perfect for what I needed.
