The Best Restaurants Near the New Orleans Convention Center in the Warehouse District | Eater New Orleans

"If your day has you craving something a bit more gritty, Corporation Bar’s got you covered. This hole-in-the-wall on the corner of S. Peters and Andrew Higgins has all the Louisiana staples: jambalaya, gumbo, muffulettas, red beans and rice, and great po’ boys. It’ll have a shorter line than Cochon Butcher, and you may even meet a character or two. Open ‘til late, making for a fun one-last-drink stop." - Beth D’Addono

Google
To be honest I can't speak to the food or level of service but Google forces me to assign at least a star. Strolled in about 8PM expecting to be able to order dinner, which sounded great based on many of the reviews, their online menu, and most significantly, the MENU BOARD on display outside right by the door under the 'open' sign. The place was completely empty and was informed by the bartender that if we were looking for sandwiches, Butcher down the street was a good option. Butcher was indeed good, but pricier than planned for that night. Corporation Bar: update your website/Google info or at a low tech minimum, take in the menu board and maybe a simple sign outside informing people when the kitchen closes.

Google
Excellent food, good prices, fast service, and a nice atmosphere. Came here for a conference and stopped in here for lunch the first day. Came back every single day after. It’s a 2 minute walk from the conference center, the service is quick, and they have all the New Orleans classics if you’re from out of town like I am and want to eat New Orleans food staples. They’ve got jambalaya (which was my favorite), po boys, gumbo, red beans and rice, muffuletta, all of it. Perfect lunch spot, highly recommend.

Google
The italian beef offered in June was nothing like Chicago style so just avoid. Salty and no flavor. Best part was the edges of the toasted bread the not so much and not so good italian beef. You could pass on the fries too. No draft beer choices to speak of and rather loud. Been there done that as far as I am concerned. Staff was very nice and that was the best part of this visit.

Labor Day Weekend 2023! This spot was across the street from our hotel. My friends found this place trying to grab breakfast one morning. Unassuming from the outside but a lot of love in the air on the inside. Everyone was courteous and accommodating. They had some of the best gumbo I had during my stay. I even ordered some to take home. I can’t wait to visit again.

Google
Very friendly staff. The food is solid and comes out fast. I got a shrimp po-boy and gumbo and both were great.

Jim Hubbard

Google
Food was terrible. I really don't know what else to say.. None of the pictures on the website look like anything that was served to us. Greasy salami on muffaletta.. rice was mixed in with gumbo and was hard ( not even cooked). Only meat in gumbo was sausage. No seafood at all...

Google
Great vibe, drinks are reasonably priced, and the service is fantastic—the sole of my shoe fell off and when I asked Lawrence the bartender for duct tape, he pulled out a whole tub of supplies and proceeded to cheerfully cobble my shoe for me. He saved the day! Corporation forever!

James Carter

Google
Shrimp poboy, gator sausage poboy, tater tots, and the gumbo was best so far in New Orleans at this place.

Yelp
I can't believe after years of frequenting this area, I didn't try it sooner. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu offerings and quality offered at Corporation. I decided to give it a try near the end of the Iris parade. I was immediately greeted upon entering and was told I was free to sit any place. I ordered the oyster po boy and gumbo. The oyster were fried just right and seasoned well. The gumbo was flavorful and had a variety of ingredients. Definitely A grade for gumbo made in a restaurant at a lower price point.

Yelp
My favorite hole in the wall place whenever I visit New Orleans. Walking distance to the convention center so great to pop in for an afternoon pint and a po'boy (I still dream about the gator sausage po'boy). No frills, dive bar in every sense of the word. Bartenders are quick to ask if you need anything. Will always recommend when I know people are in town.

Yelp
If you're over in the CBD (perhaps for a conference, like we were) but want to find a local, hole in the wall place that feels good and local, this is a great stop. Quick, tasty Po Boys and onion rings and tots were our choices. Sandwich portions are large and very satisfying. Service was quick, direct, yet friendly. Giving it a five star for being exactly what it is, a simple, straightforward southern spot. No frills, but was exactly what we were looking for.

Yelp
This local bar in the city is absolutely fantastic! I swung by this place for a late-night libation and some grub, but to my dismay, the kitchen had already closed. The bartender was absolutely amazing and crafted some good cocktails. Don't be dismayed by the hole-in-the wall feel, its a cool place to hang out.

David G.

Yelp
Catfish po boy was good. Would recommend the jambalaya. It was better. Service was quick and staff friendly.

Yelp
March 2023 What a time was had here . AJ (the chef) let me know that I'd missed the kitchen (closing daily around 5pm) however, there was plenty of crawfish being cooked outback. I made my way and checked out the Louisiana crawfish boil in action! Bartender(James) welcomed me with open arms with a shot of Jamison and a Miller highlife combo for 9 dollars. Although disappointed to have missed the infamous gumbo, the mix of convention attendees and locals was perfect and I felt right at home and comfortable getting to know new people last night. Service: 4 Prices: 5 Ambiance: 5 Taste/Textures: N/A Value: 10/5 Bottom Line : This dive bar gives down home, feels and a welcoming environment to anyone. The owners were on site, active, and respectful. The icing on the cake was the playboy bunny that you'd only be lucky enough to meet and chat up. Thank you all . Local Glenn , Bartender James, and Chef AJ

Yelp
Super cute dive bar with amazing and super friendly staff. Seriously, the bar tender was so nice. It's located across the street from the convention center and by a few hotels. I went here on my lunch break. I got a shrimp poboy dressed and it was genuinely good. Which is a lot as a local. The red beans were also good. They had great flavor and the container was huge. I paid $26 and some change which I think was fair as I only ate half of each. So basically got two meals out of my order. I would recommend and would go here again!
google avatar

Yelp
I come to this place every visit to NOLA! Nothing fancy about the place; it's a dive bar with absolutely spectacular Cajun cuisine! The bartenders are always personable and the crowd always a mixture of local patrons, folks in business attire from the nearby convention hall and other travelers lucky enough to find this place. Classic dive bar and perfect as is!
google avatar

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
A kinda divey bar (in a good way) with great food! The shrimp poboy was on a nice soft roll with a good amount of little shrimp lightly battered. The sweet tea was tasty and the beer selection was solid.

Caitlin C.

Yelp
Roast beef po'boy was good, tasted like beef stew! Very flavorful and juicy, the beef juice ran down my hands while eating. Definitely not something to eat if you're afraid of a little mess. But it tasted good! The service was pretty fast -- you have to go up to the counter to order your food, then they deliver it to your table. The area was dimly-lit with several TV's showing several sports games, typical of a bar setting.
google avatar

Yelp
Drinks where delicious and service was great . Meet this sweet pup . Will definitely be back to try some food

Yelp
Fun little neighborhood bar right by the convention center. Usually some good music playing and they have reasonably priced drinks. If you are in the neighborhood stop in.

Yelp
Great little surprise next to our hotel. Local hangout with great drink prices. Very friendly and a New Orleans local hangout.

Yelp
If you Google "Dive Bar" this is EXACTLY what you expect!! Friendly locals, great food and strong drinks!!! We ordered tots and gumbo while we were drinking. To go we ordered gator and roast beef po boys! Both were fire!!!! I used to live in New Orleans and visit multiple times a year. There are SO many places that sell po boys but this is one my new favorite spots. The roast beef is by far the BEST I've had... better than a lot of high end restaurants. The bread was top notch, the roast beef was seasoned PERFECTLY and we had it dressed to perfection... which explains why you don't see a photo of it, LOL!!! The staff and customers are all friendly and welcoming!!! We had 2 meaty po boys, multiple beers n shots, gumbo AND tots for around $65!! Can't beat that!
google avatar

Yelp
Laurence was the bartender and is very friendly and welcoming. Right now he is grateful for every customer that comes through the door. The bar does everything they can to make it as Covid safe as possible. Just north of the convention center and surrounded by plenty of other places to eat, the Ciorporation Bar and Grill has to be good to get locals to keep coming back over and over. Their formula of basic food and drink served at reasonable prices works. I took a personnal tour of New Orleans with the chicken gumbo, red beans and rice, and shrimp po'boy. Lots of food but I hadn't eaten lunch before I arrived. I recommend everything. My fovorite was how light and flaky the batter was on the shrimp. I definitely recommend.

Kino S.

Yelp
Ordered the roast beef po boy. Came in on a Sunday shortly after noon. There were a couple guys who had finished their lunch inside. The man who took my order inside was courteous and efficient. I had just enough time to use the restroom and get a free glass of water before my order was ready. I must say, this sandwich is WET! Have a safe place to chow down! They gave me plenty of napkins. This is a good sandwich for when you are very hungry and have no care for manners. It is delicious. Don't wear a white shirt.
google avatar

Janet N.

Yelp
Get the roast beef po'boy!!! We got a few sandwiches to go for a picnic. Drinks are good too. Owners/employees are nice people.

Juan J.

Yelp
Fantastic Oyster Po'boy. Would visit again when back in NOLA. Ate one a day while sat close by for the Jazz Fest.

Yelp
We visited the WW2 museum. When we were done, we wandered around looking for a drink. Found this hole in the wall bar we ducked into to get out of the rain. Reasonable prices, cold beer and the best gumbo I have had in New Orleans. If I lived close by this would be my hang out.
google avatar

Johnny W.

Yelp
Let's start with the good... dessert but unfortunately that is where it ends. The Po Boys are overpriced and way too spicy! The veggies on them are wilted and yellowing, the fillings like the shrimp tasted frozen. The food was lacking and would not come back if I had seen reviews about the "expensive" and inedible "boys". The two is due to the dessert being home made.

Yelp
Been coming here ever since I started working regularly in this great city. The old owner has passed since but they kept it in the family and the staff they hire is always friendly and of course cheapest beer in town. If your a whole in the wall local dive bar kinda guy/gal like me, this is your spot especially if you are working at the convention center or attending an event there and staying here in the warehouse district. You will always meet an interesting local or a very nice traveler here. And a good place to have a great conversation with anyone you meet. Never had a bad experience. PS: If you go early to day drink try the food. It is really good and best bang for the buck.
google avatar

Tad D.

Yelp
I love this place. Very nice staff. Cheap cold beer. Very good po boys, jambalaya, and gumbo. I had the ham and roast beef yesterday with dressing and gravy, it was darn good. If you are in town for a convention, this is your lunch spot. Far better than the $10 slices of pizza at the convention center.

Erin B.

Yelp
Fun little hole in the wall bar/restaurant. Service was fantastic-bar tender and kitchen were super friendly. Shrimp po boy was good. Not my favorite but not the worst. Price was great for food and drinks!
google avatar

Tatiana M.

Yelp
Amazingly, fresh Po'boy - the bread, the lettuce, the shrimp and oysters, everything was super fresh and you can taste it in every bite. My friend had the lunch special and it was red beans with smoked sausage, salad and bread. Nothing was left lol. Very nice lady taking the orders and also a nice lady at the bar. Great place, won't disappoint!
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
They are so nice and accommodating, and really make you feel at home. It's clearly a home town bar, gives you a Cheers vibe but with the southern charm. Go and hang out! You won't be disappointed
google avatar

Ja M.

Yelp
This bar is like my favorite kind of man: smartly funny, direct and knowledgeable. Their location is great coming from a convention or from the casino, prices are surprisingly fair and kitchen smells good- whatever they're cooking (although only open til 5, so get your orders in!). Do yourself a favor and stop by.

Yelp
Was so glad to find this dive bar on the edge of the Warehouse District for a really tasty lunch. Located on a corner is an old school bar, nothing fancy or trendy here. Inside you will find a bar, some picnic tables and the food counter at the back. The menu is fairly simple, but also has plenty of choices of what kind of Poboy or platter you will get. I was lucky enough to find that they had soft shell crabs as one of the specials. I ordered the soft shell poboy and a side of the bread pudding for dessert. The Crab was the largest soft shell I have seen about 8 inches long and was really excellent. The breading was crisp and the crab inside was fresh and incredibly tasty. The bread they use is crusty, but not quite as good as the rest of the bread I had in New Orleans. The rest of the poboy was decent, but nothing special, fresh tomato, lettuce, pickles and plain mayo added the flavor and texture you look for. The surprise of the meal to me was the bread pudding; for $3 you get a large slab of pudding topped with a nice sugary sauce. The bread pudding was moist and delicious, studded with raisins and diced fruit cocktail. The fruit cocktail made for a nice old school touch and while unexpected I really enjoyed it. Corporation Bar is a great old school dive bar to get some simple, but really tasty food. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Hole in the wall and cheap beer. Food only early in the day and limited. Stop on by and see.

Yelp
This place is as advertised in the positive reviews on Yelp. It's a dive bar, that is quite pleasant. I like the atmosphere. It was moderately populated for Thursday night. We got there around seven and stayed until about midnight. Friendly people. Nice bartender. Good environment. I would've liked Guinness on tap, but they had it in bottles. A lot of the Yelp reviews bragged on the quality of the food, Especially the gumbo. Unfortunately, we got there too late for that. They stop serving food at 5 PM. We will come some other time to try that.
google avatar

Matthew L.

Yelp
Before Every Pre Parade party for the krewe of Morpheus, me and my riders love to come here to get a few brews. The people are always welcoming and the drink prices are not that bad at all. I have never tried the food, but one day I will find myself here just like I find myself at every other dive bar and try the food. I will always come here before the pre parade party and I know they love when we come in and cause havoc. Keep on keeping on.
google avatar

William T.

Yelp
Such a lovely spot, centralized to downtown. Perfect little dive bar with friendly staff and a good pour!
google avatar

Drew C.

Yelp
Convenient to the convention center this is a dive bar type of place. I've stopped in here 3 times now. Things to note. 1)There can be a little bit of a wait. 2)Red Beans and Rice is awesome but I don't care for the Sausage that comes with it. 3) Fried seafood is good. 3)Jambalaya feel short for me. There are lots of awesome places in the city. If you on a budget or looking for a solid lunch spot this is a good one.
google avatar

Dena F.

Yelp
Stopped by Corporation after parade viewing. Hubs had this on his list for great po-boys & yep, he wqs right. This is an old dive bar with great food!! I had a catfish Po Boy, which had a crisp cornmeal batter & great flavor on a delicious fresh po-boy roll with a perfect crust. Also had an Urban South IPA, cloudy & citrusy-perfect with my po-boy. Hands down the best po-boy I had in NOLA.

C C.

Yelp
I was in town for a convention and stopped in for lunch because of its convenient location. It turns out the food was AMAZINGLY delicious and beyond my expectations and the service was outstanding! They treated me like family and were super friendly. For lunch, I had a bowl of gumbo and a roast beef poboy. The gumbo was excellent and left me wanting seconds. Their roast beef poboy was flavorful and the meat was tender & on fresh French bread. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We We my bartender, the Chef Antoine & the bar regulars are fantastic. It's the perfect dive bar, festively decorated for St Pattys week located on the corner from the Hilton Garden Inn. I thought it was called Rays Bar from a sign inside lol so now I call it that. Fun pix on the wall & the chalk board says 'Soup of the day: Whiskey' lol! Will be back next week WeWe.

Robert L.

Yelp
If I could leave zero starts I would. The would was tasteless, bar tender was super rude and prices higher for bar food. I've eaten all over New Orleans, hole in the walls to 5 start restaurants. This is by for the worst. Never had food this bad .
google avatar

Mei Z.

Yelp
I visited during the daytime around 3pm on a Tuesday, and it wasn't completely empty to my surprise. It's a pretty dingy looking place but it could've been an amazing hole in the wall place...but it wasn't. I could not bring myself to like taste of New Orleans - the gumbo just tasted sour and wrong. The beans were soooo bland and didn't stand out. Onion rings tasted like fast food onion rings from maybe Carls Jr. The jumbalaya rice was plump and perfectly cooked but I just didn't care for the flavors. Oh, there was a small strand of hair in my beans as well....I was already done eating at that point. The alligator po-boy was delicious though - it was the only redeeming aspect of our meal. The meat wasn't fried and it allowed for us to fully enjoy the texture and taste. I noticed the bartender was a lot warmer to the locals, and the locals seemed to like this place quite a bit. Visit at your own risk! I personally wouldn't bother, especially with the limited time and stomach space I can spare during my travels.
google avatar

Marcy D.

Yelp
5 star dive bar! Aesthetically this is exactly what I expect from a dive bar. We popped in for a post lunch snack because my husband and some of his friends had enjoyed the food so much earlier in the week - and the jambalaya did not disappoint! This food is soooo much better than the dive bars I am around back home which is why I give 5 stars. It was amazing and I would definitely return there to have it again. Plenty of tvs to watch your football, we had fast sand nice service for a Saturday afternoon and the atmosphere was relaxed. This feels like a great place if you are looking to carb up before a night out on the town!
google avatar

Scarlett M.

Yelp
The more I think about it, the more I realize that I really want to knock a star off. Weeks have gone by and the co-worker that I had brought with me still talks about how disappointing the gumbo was. When a local ranks your gumbo as some of the worst they've ever had - or, in my case, considers it a passable "stew" but not a gumbo - that's kinda sad. I get that this is more of a bar that just so happens to serve food, and that po-boys are their main food, but by including gumbo on their menu they've made it fair game to judge them based on that.
google avatar

Yelp
After eating three upscale dinners in New Orleans, it was this little gem that stole my stomach and my heart. It's a dive, but hot damn, get in here for lunch and you'll feel like you've stumbled on the city's best kept secret. After searching Yelp and browsing menus for some of the local staples I found that the pricing is somewhat consistent amongst most places for things like gumbo, red beans and rice, and jambalaya. Well, take away the frills, serve the slop in a styrofoam bowl and you'll be eating those exact classics at Corporation for a third of the price. And guess what? It's f#cking delicious! I did the New Orleans Combo which was a good sized bowl of each of the aforementioned items and it rang in at a cool $12.00, which is what one bowl would cost you elsewhere. The rest of my group picked up things like muffalettas and po' boys and we were all equally impressed. Truly delicious and my favorite lunch spot during my visit. Kitchen closes at 5pm and customers with dogs take over the bar... radical. Just sayin'!
google avatar

Gregory G.

Yelp
Had an awesome lunch today at Corporation. Catfish Po'Boy with fried okra was delicious. Everyone was very hospitable! Wish it was a little cooler inside but it was comfortable enough. Very good prices on food and driving drinks. We will definitely be back! Great dive bar.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Now this place is more my speed when it comes to getting a drink, at a great price, served by great people. I've come here a number of times over the years, whether it's escaping from the Mardi Gras madness across the street at Generations Hall, to pre-gaming before a Howling Wolf show, or grabbing a bite to eat before an off season parade rolls by, the Corporation serves up cheap bites, ice cold drinks, local hospitality and plays host to a mix of all those that enjoy the same.

Yelp
Been to Corporation Bar & Grill many times and we've always enjoyed it every time! The grill makes a variety of local dishes from po'boys, jambalaya, gumbo, and red beans. Try the alligator po'boy. Everything is great, fresh and they only use autunitic New Orleans family recipes. The bar has local brews and a full bar to satisfy any drink options all at an excellent price. The staff is friendly and cater to everyone's needs. From the outside, it looks like a corner bar but inside it feels like family. Corporation Bar is at the corner of Andrew Higgins Dr. & S. Peters St. Only 2 blocks away from Convention Center. It is a great place to catch a game, meet a buddy, hangout or hookup. If you are in the New Orleans looking for a place to gather of enjoy the local flavor of New Orleans there is no better place than the Corporation Bar & Grill!!
google avatar

Gloria H.

Yelp
So happy to come upon this place - a neighborhood bar with good home cooked food. The fried chicken wings was the highlight - cooked to order, crispy and juicy. You can order by piece - $1 each or have as meal with a side.
google avatar

Matt U.

Yelp
A Haiku about the place: When in New Orleans Po Boys, Jambalaya, Boss Alligator rocks As others have stated, if you're near the convention center, this is a place you must visit. Total hole in the wall on a corner a few blocks from the convention center. We sauntered in for lunch and a couple of shared an alligator Po' boy and a sampler of Jambalaya, Red beans n' rice, and Gumbo. All were excellent and the prices were super reasonable for the area. The Jambalaya and Gumbo were exceptional and either is worth getting by themselves. Great folks work here as well - very friendly and definitely down to business. You order in the back, pay at the bar and then find a spot to sit. Word to the wise - grab seats when you come in to make sure you're not kept standing. Definitely a place to hit up to get some good Bayou cooking! Kitchen closes early a number of nights so best to grab lunch here or get it to go.
google avatar

Acie Chase H.

Yelp
I love this place. Working in the past in and around the convention center, I stopped to eat great food and enjoy great spirits. Both Ray and Nancy did a wonderful job with this place. Some consider the Corporation a dive bar and Cafe but I see it as a working persons place to enjoy that something special

Yelp
Was drinking at the hotel bar the last night I was in New Orleans. Talking to the bar back and telling him I haven't found decent gumbo and jambalaya during my time here. If it wasn't for his suggestion, I would have never found this gem. Came here the next day before my flight, got their gumbo, jambalaya, beans and rice combo, and alligator po boy. Probability the best food I had during my entire visit. Hole in the wall and not a hyped up tourist trap. The one thing I truly wanted to do in New Orleans was to have some straight forward local traditional simple gumbo and jambalaya. And I found it here, finally, after 4 days of searching. This gumbo over the fancy cup from peche around the corner, all day everyday. Best of all, they are also a bar! Always a plus. Food 5* Price 4.5* Service 4* Location 4.5*

Yelp
Don't judge a book by its cover! This place is great for a drink and food. They have a nice selection of PO'Boys and other local favorites. This place is a must try when your in the area.

Yelp
The barmaids are Awesome!! We had a great time. The drinks are flowing and the food is always great. This is a wonderful place to just hang out and enjoy the evening.
