The D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings You Should Know About This September | Eater DC

"An apéro-obsessed spot from the Barcelona Wine Bar team pours a 200-plus bottle list sourced from small European producers and cocktails loaded with amaro and aperitivos—think a Golden Hour Negroni with Moroccan spice gin and manzanilla. A robata grill turns out charred seafood and vegetables alongside plenty of light bites, and dinner service runs daily with brunch and happy hour on the way." - Tierney Plumb

Absolutely amazing! Came here for a late-night birthday celebration after work and was greeted by the wonderful bartender Antonio, who welcomed us with menus and the wine list. The cocktail program is jaw-dropping, each creation is both captivating and genius. The wine selection by the glass is extensive, offering something for everyone, and I especially loved the option of 3 oz pours to explore more pairings with each dish. Our server was outstanding, attentive, detail-oriented, and incredibly thoughtful in guiding me through gluten-free options since I have celiac disease. I felt completely comfortable, and there was still a plethora of dishes I could enjoy. Highlights included the tuna carpaccio with its divine Calabrian citrus sauce, an addictive mix of mushrooms (the maitake was unforgettable), mussels in a light lobster-saffron broth, and the Chicken Genovese, which was crispy, moist, and perfectly complemented by herbaceous sauce and fingerling potatoes. Dessert was the perfect finale: my chocolate hazelnut ganache and my partner’s affogato were both excellent. The cocktails elevated the night further. My Pomme au Poivre tasted like early autumn in a glass. The entire staff, from Antonio to manager Emily, to our server and the food runners, went above and beyond to ensure every gluten-free dish was safe while my partner enjoyed the full menu. The ambiance was the final touch. It reminded me so much of southern France, the place I call home, which made the evening feel all the more special. This restaurant is truly a treasure, and I cannot wait to return, especially to explore more of their aperitifs and digestifs.

Corsica Wine Bar in Reston is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like VIPs. Lauren, the General Manager, is phenomenal — incredibly attentive, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about ensuring guests have the best experience possible. She sets the tone for a flawless evening. Our server, Jillian, was beyond amazing. Her knowledge of wine is impressive, and her recommendations were spot-on. She didn’t just serve us — she became our friend for the night, making the experience personal, fun, and unforgettable. The food here is spectacular. We were blown away by the carrot dish (so flavorful and beautifully presented), the meatballs (perfectly seasoned), and the lamb dolmas (absolutely divine). Every bite paired wonderfully with their thoughtfully curated wine selection — which, by the way, is top-notch. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast or just someone who appreciates quality, Corsica has something to impress every palate. Highly recommend this spot for a special night out or just a memorable dinner. We can’t wait to come back! 🥂 #CorsicaWineBar #RestonEats #WineLovers #FoodieHeaven #OutstandingService #WineAndDine #BestDinnerSpot #FineDiningReston #UnforgettableExperience

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Corsica just opened in Reston Town Center and it’s already the best spot here. The food was incredible from the first bite. Every dish was on point, nothing missed. I actually stopped in the middle of my meal to start writing this because it was that good. The off-menu espresso martini was the best I’ve ever had. No contest. Jillian took care of us and she was fantastic—cheerful, welcoming, and super attentive without hovering. And the manager, Madiha (apologies if I’m spelling that wrong), was equally great. She went above and beyond and even annotated a full vegetarian menu for us. That level of attention is rare. I’m already planning my next visit. This place is a standout and an easy five stars.

We really wanted to love Corsica Wine Bar, especially since we’re frequent visitors to Barcelona and expected a similar level of quality. Unfortunately, the food was so uninventive that it was confusing if this was supposed to be Italian or French. Every dish came out incredibly fast but had a heavy sauce underneath that made the flavors taste strange — the sauce under the steak even tasted like fish, which completely threw off the dish. To make things worse, the steak dish we ordered came out tasting like Salisbury steak. The only bright spot was the pasta, which was excellent and easily the star of the evening. The simple bolognese was delightful. Charlie our server was super sweet but unfortunately not all there. How are you going to ask if we're celebrating tonight but then forget to add the candle to the cake..... It’s a nice space and has potential, but unless they seriously fix the food and consistency, it’s hard to imagine this place lasting long. I wonder if their Denver location has these troubles. I will say the red head manager did right by us and removed the horrific mussels dish.

Came here for a date night and ate dinner on the patio. I loved the concept, it has a relaxed and rustic vibe to it. The menu had a variety of small plates of Mediterranean food to share. We tried different dishes and our favorite one was the shrimp. It was perfectly seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. The service was attentive and our server was very informative about each dish. Also, the pacing of the plates made it easy to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed. Overall atmosphere felt both lively and intimate, perfect for a date night!

Absolutely incredible. The food is great, everything was delectable. My server Charlie was great, and there was another server called Lauren that was also great and very kind. She recommended I mix the pork Milanese and the Caesar salad together and that was so so so good. The sommelier, Olivia, was incredible. So knowledgeable and so friendly. The atmosphere is wonderful. So many different types of seating, perfect for anyone and any occasion. They let me sample a few of the wines which I really appreciated. I highly recommend for anyone in the DMV area. I hope they open one in Raleigh. Note : they do half off on bottles on Mondays

Stopped by Corsica on a whim and it was a pleasant surprise. It has beautiful decor with the most enjoyable libations and viands I have tried in a while. Most def fit for an emperor hahaha. Definitely come through and enjoy this spot before you have to get reservations for even the bar, oof! Those spots are not enjoyable for anyone but the ones collecting the overhead. IYKYK, just saying 🤷🏻‍♂️ I tried the Wolfpack which was a riff on an old fashioned and what may debatably be the best arancini. At least that’s my opinion. Sooooooo many options I am going to have to come back. 🚨 update 🚨 Came back and it was even better! Yeah, we got seated in a banquette area which was a little too close to the people next to is us but it was still a good experience. Definitely get a spot with space.

Google
Great, new casual French/European inspired cuisine. They have half servings of wine which is nice. The shrimp, mushroom, and cacio e pepe small plates were all very flavorful and delicious. The almond cake with the frosting was just ok. The frosting was a bit too sticky.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere was amazing but the best was the service from Gaby and Madiha! They were attentive and entertaining. Thanks so much!

Yelp
Food (5/5): The all day happy hour until 6 is amazing! We had the sangria and lager and also tried the monte cristo and feta appetizer! So delicious even if the portions are small (they are tapas!) Service (5/5): Bartenders are amazing and very kind! Ambiance (5/5): What a beautiful new restaurant in RTC!

Yelp
It's sister restaurant Barcelona is a favorite of mine. Trying this new restaurant and I have to say it is very different than Barcelona. The concept is relatively the same but the tastes are totally different. Case in point, Corsica's mussel are in white sauces and a bit bland. Most of the dishes are Tapas style and there are couple of bigger dishes for sharing like the New York Strip and Pork Milanese. Having tried both, I prefer Barcelona over Corsica food-wise. We went to it couple of weeks after opening so services were still fine tuning. As far as ambiance, it is like Barcelona with a bar in front and seating in the back. My biggest disappointment is that the bread is not free. Worse yet, It is expensive and small when you do order it.

Yelp
2 stars - rooting for them, but the food needs a serious rethink I really want this restaurant to succeed because they're doing so many things right. The ambience is beautiful, the music is on point, the drinks are excellent, and the service has been genuinely warm and attentive. It's the kind of place you want to love and come back to often. Unfortunately, the food just isn't there yet. Last night I had the mushrooms and they were so salty that my husband and I were drinking water all evening just to balance it out. The broccoli salad was almost indigestible - covered in a very heavy, fatty-tasting dressing - and the fish was dry and not enjoyable. The only thing on the menu that truly stood out in a good way was the olive cake, which was delicious. I'm saying all this because I care. Their sister restaurant, Barcelona, is one of my all-time favorites, and I'm a regular there. I know what this restaurant group is capable of, and I really hope management takes this feedback seriously and revisits the menu and preparation. If they improve the food, I'll be very happy to come back and update this review.

Yelp
We came right at 4pm and were the first ones in. Staff were all at the bar, but greeted me nicely when I walked in. The host was gave us a great table that could accommodate my friends stroller. There is a nice happy hour menu. Ambiance is modern and lively. Fun place to meet friends or have a date!

Yelp
Stopped by on a Saturday night around 5/6 and it wasn't too busy! But by the time we left, this place was bumpin. We dined here with our 1 year old so I definitely recommend getting here early if you have a kid and ordering early on, because the service slowed down a lot by the time we left. We ordered: - the chenille (a solid mocktail) - the chicken liver mousse (fine--but I don't love chicken liver) - the salt and vinegar chips (we enjoyed these) - the cucumber salad (loved this--reminded me of a similar cucumber salad I had at Torrisi in NYC) - grilled chicken thigh (really enjoyed the curry yogurt this came with) - rigatoni bolognese (good, but it was missing something? I think the pasta water needed salt or something) - farro risotto (good, love the crispy rosemary) - bastian meatballs (fine, not as tender as the Barcelona albondigas) - NY strip (my father in law loved this) - the almond cake (super moist--like an olive oil cake) I'm disappointed they didn't have the cacio e pepe available and the cream for the almond cake was missing, but I think the food will be better once they work out the kinks. Overall, the vibes are great. The service was good, minus it being slow once all the people arrived. The food was fine/good--I would put it at the same level as Barcelona. Nothing was blow your mind fantastic, but Corsica is a solid joint to eat at with groups.

Yelp
I used to go to the Mon Ami Gabi that was located here, and was excited to try this new restaurant. I didn't realize that it didn't open until 2pm on a Friday, so I just walked around until they opened. I was seated immediately and the server greeted us a soon as we sat down. The menu has a variety of small plates and large plates. We ordered the New York strip, (this can take up to thirty minutes to prepare so I would recommend ordering this early on) grilled mushrooms, swordfish, and mussels. Overall, the food was prepared well and the food was decent. I wouldn't say I was blown away as I was struggling to find menu items that really piqued my interest. Our NY strip was slightly overcooked as we had asked for medium rare and it was more medium to medium well in some spots. I really liked the fries and Caesar salad it came with though. I hope they switch up their menu items and add more options. I would certainly go back if that is the case.

Yelp
I hadn't planned to travel to Reston but my husband became unwell just before flying out of IAD and was taken to the fantastic Reston Hospital Centre. My stepdaughter and I spent a week in Reston and discovered the gem that is Corsica. We began with brunch and returned another three times for the excellent food, great wines and really friendly service. Highlights included the croque madame, Farro risotto, Corsican frittes and the Barbajuan (crispy ravioli). There were no bad dishes and as they offer "small plates", you get to try a lot. I'm from London and have travelled a little in the US; New York, New Orleans, San Francisco and Washington DC. I would say this is the best food/restaurant experience I've had in the US. Reston is a small place but I found some really good places to eat. Corsica was the best, but if I were nearby, I would make a point of visiting for good food.

Yelp
Tried out this new restaurant in RTC and I have to say I am impressed! I was worried there wouldn't be much flavor because it is a French restaurant but that simply wasn't the case. Everything had great flavor! The service was friendly and the manager checking in on us several time to insure everything was to our likely. The ambiance is lovely; low lighting and open seating. Of the drinks, the wolf pack and Tiki baby were our favorites. Out of the small bites we tried, the grilled shrimp and the broccoli we will be ordering again. The steak frites were the best I've had in a while and I will be back to order that again! The mussels and ratatouille did not impress and were not dishes I would order again.

Yelp
A Tasteful Blend of Italy and France in a Relaxed, Elegant Setting Nestled in Reston Town Center (former location of MonAmiGabi), this Italian-French restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience that effortlessly blends the warmth of Mediterranean hospitality with refined European flair. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance sets the tone--relaxed yet sophisticated, with warm lighting, tasteful decor, and a layout that invites lingering conversation and second rounds. The bar staff here deserves special mention. Friendly, experienced, and clearly passionate about their craft, they elevate the pre-dinner drink from routine to memorable. The drinks menu is both creative and classic, and it's clear the team behind the bar knows how to strike that perfect balance of precision and personality. Now, let's talk about the food. From the Small Plates: The grilled shrimp was a standout--perfectly cooked and begs to be eaten with the sourdough bread. The grilled chicken thigh - I would recommend asking for it "lightly charred" to get the perfect char-to-thigh-meat ratio. It paired especially well with the accompanying mustard sauce, which adds a gentle zing without overpowering the dish. Mussels lovers will find a refreshing twist here. The preparation deviates from traditional European styles, offering a bold medley of lobster broth and fennel greens that somehow still feel cohesive. I recommend it for those with a more adventurous palate. From the Large Plates: The Chicken Genovese is generous enough to split--especially if you've already indulged in a few small plates. The chicken is remarkably moist and flavorful, with every bite infused with the rich, herbaceous Genovese sauce. The accompanying potatoes soak up all that goodness, while the green beans offer a fresher, more restrained contrast, keeping the plate balanced. Dessert: If you've saved room (or even if you haven't), the almond cake is worth it. It's a hefty slice, easily shareable, with a delicate almond flavor that doesn't lean too sweet--an elegant end to the meal. In short, this restaurant is a gem--perfect for a date night, an upscale group dinner, or even a solo treat at the bar with a beautifully mixed cocktail in hand. It's rare to find a place where the service, drinks, and food all hit high notes so consistently. Whether you're there for a few small plates and a drink or the full spread, you're in for a memorable meal.

Yelp
This review is overdue! We had the honor of being Corsica's first guests. They welcomed us with hospitality and warmth. Service was excellent, knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. The interior was refined and comfortable with warm low lighting. The cuisine draws on the French, Italian and Mediterranean influences of its island namesake. We had an incredible meal from start to finish. This is NYC expat approved. I'm so thrilled that quality refined dining continues to come to the area. From Reston to Leesburg, Corsica easily cracks the top 5.

Yelp
Amazing food, drinks, and service! The vibe was amazing! The bartendes are amazing at being fast but also, deliver high quality drinks.

Yelp
Such a loud place! Cannot hear others sitting on the same table. Menu is printed with small fonts that cannot read. This is built for younger generation. Or maybe I am getting too old.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to visit Corsica Wine Bar on a Friday evening. We were immediately checked in with the hostess and led to a table near the open kitchen and interior dining area. The atmosphere had very low warm lighting which made it particularly hard for someone like me with poor eyesight to see the menus so I used my phone light. Although the atmosphere is warm and cozy with moderate noise level. The staff was prompt with service and had great recommendations on what to order as this was our first visit. All plates except the larger entrees are served tapas style and are shareable (this is the same team behind Barcelona Wine Bar). The larger entrees are family style shareable as well. The options we ordered as shown in the photos below were amazing - everything was delicious well balanced, flavored well, and filling. My favorite was the baked lumache and the grilled shrimp. We tried two non alcoholic cocktails and I appreciated the mixology of the drinks which had distinct flavors and presented well. My favorite drink to have with this type of cuisine the red Clericot was so rich and full. I will definitely be visiting again - it's high on my list as one of my favorite restaurants in the northern Virginia area. $$ There is a paid parking deck nearby (which is free after 6 pm) there is some street parking but since it's in the Reston Town Center the deck parking is pretty easy to access the restaurant and surrounding shops

Yelp
Service was great, wine was great. Cucumbers and fries delicious- but our main course, the Steak was very salty and gristly. And the mushrooms were a bit too salty too. I'd give it another chance- but wouldn't order the steak and shrooms again.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
intimate vibe, family style tapas. staff was incredibly attentive (like 5 employees checked on me throughout my dine...) & they took time to cross out my menu with anything that contained gluten! my server charlie was a literal angel, so sweet & energetic. the food was incredible, especially the carrots! they also offer yummy mocktails & a small portion of a rotating wine at the beginning of each meal for $5.
google avatar

Danielle D.

Yelp
Everything I've tried on the menu is so good, the grilled mushrooms, mussels, cannellini beans and farro risotto are my faves! The ambience is really cool and the bartenders are super nice! I definitely recommend coming here!

David B.

Yelp
Service was very attentive and vibe in the restaurant was vibrant. As others have said it is loud and the lighting is terrible. We started with the Apericena Platter with Jambon, Bresaola and La Sur cheese. Very good and a good size We only did small plates- broccoli ceaser was delicious and bright and plentiful. butternut squash ravioli with fresh black truffle and pecorino cheese. First there wasn't any black truffle. Asked why and waitress said it was the oil but not what menu said. , she cold with the manger who came over and said they put some on top which was not true but offered to put more on which looked more like powder as opposed to fresh. Also the ravioli was very average at best. Overall not worth it. Also ordered the Bavette steak. While cooked as promised it should have been sliced before serving which how it normally would have been brought to the table. Overall a nice vibe and great service but the food was just ok

Antonio V.

Yelp
It must have been at the busiest time, but the noise level was totally unberable. Could not hear my table companion. The food was decent, nothing special and the portions on the small size for the price, or viceversa, pricey. A glass of a regular white wine was $18, the most expensive I have paid in the Reston area. In summary: noisy and expensive. Still prefer Barcelona (as noisy) or Six Vines (tiny wine portions), but with better food.
google avatar

Rush R.

Yelp
Barcelona spinoff taps are decent for sure but the punch bowl and entrees took the cake, beautiful facility and great service

Gaylord F.

Yelp
Went back last Friday and sat at the bar. Still pretty underwhelming. The bar stools are awkward and borderline unsafe--we actually saw a woman fall while trying to sit down. By 5 p.m. it was already uncomfortably loud, with the music blasting for no reason. Honestly, not in a rush to go back.

Judy P.

Yelp
Thee food was very good but the service was chaotic and disorganized. We are hoping this will be fixed because the concept is quite good.

Kevin M.

Yelp
This location used to be Mon Ami Gabi, which never really created a cozy ambience due to its poor use of space. Corsica has reinvented the space and done a great job of making it a place to visit. On to the food, which left me completely confused. Corsica is a French island, and has been since the mid 1700s. The menu is largely Italian, with nothing French at all, apart from the 'Corsican' fries. Don't call your wine bar Corsica if the food's not Corsican. My SO and I found talking to each other at the bar just about achievable. It's noisy in there......poor acoustics? Finally, the pricing. The menu contains 4 big plates and multiple small plates. It's expensive. A small plate should not cost $14 with 'Corsican' fries $7. We won't be going back.......and please don't call it a tapas bar; you get them in Spain.

Grace E.

Yelp
Really the only thing to complain about at this restaurant is the volume - it was really difficult to hear anything and we were seated outside, not in the restaurant... it seems like a strange choice for a restaurant that otherwise would be high up on the choices for date night. The staff here were friendly and attentive - we tried a variety of the starters and small plates and were really pleased with everything. Our favorite dish was probably the white beans, but really we enjoyed our pastas, mussels and various vegetable dishes. This is easily our favorite place in Reston Town Center.

Nana B.

Yelp
This loud, dark wine bar isn't for anyone serious about food or anyone who likes to see what they're eating. The small-plate concept sounds promising, but dishes arrive one by one, making it impossible to enjoy a proper meal. The grilled shrimp and beef bavette were the highlights; the swordfish was dry, and the chicken thigh could've passed for a sample. When we asked for bread, two slices of store-bought rye appeared. Ouch at an Italian-French restaurant famed for its bread! Dining by phone flashlight amid blaring noise for $200 (one glass of wine and three soft drinks) made the evening anything but memorable. The servers were attentive, but the ambiance was disappointing and suffered from the overly dark setting.

Feri F.

Yelp
service was ok. waiters friendly and helpful. food: terribly salty. basically most menu is fried. we have tried 5 items, 2 glasses of wine. small plates are tiny tiny portions . mussels were salty and crunchy sand under your teeth. terrible experience: expensive and tasteless. too bad for the location . no repeat

Scott E.

Yelp
See you're out of town. It's a good friend and my birthday. All the small place big place with great server was good manager. Emily was awesome if you're in the area you need to check this place out.
