The owner-manager of this independent hotel is a stickler for details, and cares about his impact on the environment. There’s an avant-garde wastewater treatment system, and cleaning products are strictly biodegradable. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? The 11 suites here are large-ish by Venetian standards, and smart bathrooms with ultra-soft towels are well sized, too. One first-floor suite has a circular bed; another, on the second floor, has a tiny, canal-facing terrace and a frescoed ceiling. All thrust design classics into a beautifully muted historic setting. In an annex around the corner, two self-catering studios, sleeping up to four people, are coolly minimalist – and perfect for families. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? "Corte Di Gabriela is a designer hotel with elegant rooms and a common internal courtyard. The property is around 15 minutes by foot from both the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square. Featuring refined parquet floors and unique details, rooms at the Gabriela include air conditioning, LCD TV and teakettle. Each has a private bathroom complete with bathrobes and slippers. Guests can enjoy free use of an iPad. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room with canal view and includes Prosecco white wine and fresh juices but also homemade quiches, cake and croissants. Omelets and pancake crepes are made to order. The Campo Sant’Angelo waterbus stop on line 1 is a 7 minute walk away. Venezia-Santa Lucia Venice Train Station is about a 20 minute walk away.
