24 Best Hotels in Venice, Italy

"Corte di Gabriela, a boutique hotel, injects contemporary pizzazz into a 19th-century palazzo, with signature design pieces, industrial-chic materials, and splashes of gorgeous color. But this is style without unnecessary attitude: The vibe here is warm, grown-up, and welcoming. And breakfast is simply superb; in fact, it's a true draw for many of the hotel's return guests. The staff will make you feel immediately at home, easing you into restaurants, water taxis, and tours. Did we mention the courtyard? With its smart Paola Navone–designed furniture, antique marble wellhead, and welcome shade from a very old, very large wisteria plant, this is a perfect place for quiet contemplation. Upstairs, there’s a comfortable reading room with a baby grand piano. And luxurious chocolates at turndown are a sweet touch." - Sarah James, Anne Hanley

Corte di Gabriela

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe? Corte di Gabriela, a boutique hotel, injects contemporary pizzazz into a 19th-century palazzo, with signature design pieces, industrial-chic materials, and splashes of gorgeous color. But this is style without unnecessary attitude: The vibe here is warm, grown-up, and welcoming. And breakfast is simply superb. What's the backstory? The owner-manager of this independent hotel is a stickler for details, and cares about his impact on the environment. There’s an avant-garde wastewater treatment system, and cleaning products are strictly biodegradable. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? The 11 suites here are large-ish by Venetian standards, and smart bathrooms with ultra-soft towels are well sized, too. One first-floor suite has a circular bed; another, on the second floor, has a tiny, canal-facing terrace and a frescoed ceiling. All thrust design classics into a beautifully muted historic setting. In an annex around the corner, two self-catering studios, sleeping up to four people, are coolly minimalist – and perfect for families. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? Wi-fi is included in the room rate, and the signal is strong throughout. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? There are guests who return to Corte di Gabriela just for the breakfast, featuring seasonal, savory treats and magnificent omelettes. There are homemade pastries, wonderful preserves, and terrific coffee. Equally memorable is the inner courtyard, where you can start the morning beneath the shade of a massive wisteria. Drinks are available through the day at an unobtrusive bar. And the service? The staff will make you feel immediately at home, easing you into restaurants, water taxis, and tours. You’re made to feel not so much a client here as a guest. What type of travelers will you find here? The typical Corte di Gabriela guest favors sharp design over anything too traditional. Many return again and again, knowing that the welcome—and the standards—will be consistent. The main hotel has a grown-up feel; the apartments can host families. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? The San Marco district is Venice’s most touristy, but step inside Corte di Gabriela and you’d never know. It’s no distance from here to fascinating boutiques, great cafés, and, of course, iconic sights. Any other hotel features worth noting? Did we mention the courtyard? With its smart Paola Navone–designed furniture, antique marble wellhead, and welcome shade from a very old, very large wisteria plant, this is a perfect place for quiet contemplation. Upstairs, there’s a comfortable reading room with a baby grand piano. And luxurious chocolates at turndown are a sweet touch. Bottom line: Worth it? Why? With this kind of welcome and attention to detail, you'll never feel short-changed." - Anne Hanley

Everything about this hotel was absolutely perfect!! The warm greeting you receive as you enter the hotel makes you feel at home! The hotel is just 3 minutes from the water taxi stop. Be careful when you exit the train station to find the water taxi yourself because we were charged to have them carry our bags to the water taxi (new traveler mistake). Each morning you have a fabulous breakfast there! We stayed for our honeymoon and they wrote a sweet note with a bottle of wine and left it in our room. The beds were so comfortable to sleep in. I wish we stayed in this hotel longer!!

This is one of the very best hotel experiences I've ever had!||The hotel is located in a quiet area of Venice but still close to a Vaporetto stop. There are some really good restaurants close by, just three minutes walk from the hotel. It only takes 10-15 minutes by foot to reach the more busy areas of Venice such as Piazza San Marco.||The hotel itself is quite small but so cozy! Our room was spacious and decorated with historic ceiling paintings and antique columns. The AC in the room provided cool air on hot days.||The staff is very service-minded and friendly with a personal touch. They helped us with everything from arranging private water taxi from the airport to the hotel upon arrival to restaurant recommendations and reservations.||The breakfast service is what brings this hotel to the next level. It's an amazing experience to have breakfast in the courtyard. There are new Italian dishes each morning and you won't know beforehand what will be served. The chef and owner prepare the breakfast himself together with his staff and everything is served by the table with a touch of luxury. There is also a small buffet to pick from. The coffee is excellent!||This is THE place to stay when in Venice!

What a wonderful stay - I only wish we had stayed longer! The room and common areas were lovely and comfortable, and the location was great for being very walkable to major sites but still in a peaceful, less-touristy neighborhood. The breakfast was the best we had in a trip that involved six different hotels (and in the cutest courtyard to boot) and the wonderful chef even shared one of her recipes with me after I asked how she made an amazing tart. The hotel had great dining recommendations and overall felt like they really cared about taking care of the guests. I never said it was my birthday but they saw it on my passport and left a bottle of prosecco and a bowl of fresh cherries in my room! A wonderful experience overall; we've definitely found our go-to place in Venice!

We had a truly wonderful experience at Corte di Gabriela. The staff was incredibly attentive and thoughtful throughout our stay. What stood out most was the seamless communication between team members—no matter who was at the front desk when we returned, they were always up to speed on any previous requests and followed up without us needing to repeat ourselves. That level of coordination is rare and so appreciated. They also went above and beyond to help us navigate a transportation strike by proactively informing us ahead of time and offering helpful suggestions to adjust our travel plans—we’re incredibly grateful for that support. On the morning of our departure, since we had to leave before breakfast, they kindly provided us with a breakfast bag to go. And one small but lovely detail: the towels were especially nice! All in all, we had an exceptional stay and would highly recommend Corte di Gabriela to anyone visiting Venice.

This was the second time staying at Corte di Gabriela and our stay was just as memorable as our first stay 9 years ago. The staff at Corte di Gabriela are very warm and welcoming and had wonderful restaurant recommendations. They were also super helpful with providing information on transportation instructions for us from the train station and arranging for a water taxi to the airport. Gian Luca was especially wonderful to us and even gifted us with a bottle of Proseco as it was our second time staying at Corte di Gabriela which was a touching gift. We had breakfast every morning in the lovely garden which was an amazing assortment of salads, baked goods (baked on the premises) and a choice of eggs, crepes or waffles i(depending on the daily selection) all served in lovely dishes with wonderful presentations. There is also a lovely buffet of delicious baked goods, fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. The room we had (2002) was lovely and very quiet notwithstanding being in the middle of Venice. The bed was very comfortable and had lovely luxurious linens and comfy pillows. The bathroom also had a wonderful shower and lush and fluffy towels and bathrobes. The location of the hotel is also terrific. The Saint Angelo Vaparetto (water bus) stop is a 3 minute walk and there is only one bridge (which is important when lugging luggage) on the way to the hotel from the stop. It is also only a 7 to 10 minute walk to San Marco or the Accademia Bridge and other vaparetto stops. There are many high end hotels in Venice but we prefer the Corte di Gabriela. I can't wait to return!

Corte di Gabriela is a beautiful boutique hotel with a perfect central location in Venice. From here, you can reach St. Mark’s Square within minutes. The rooms are spacious, with large bathrooms and comfortable beds. From the hairdryer to the coffee machine to eco-friendly hotel accessories (like slippers, shampoo, etc.), absolutely nothing is missing. A special highlight was the gel for tired legs – such a thoughtful touch! Apart from the small carpet next to the bed, everything was spotlessly clean! The breakfast was excellent, and special dietary needs were accommodated without any fuss – a perfect start to the day. What really stood out was the service and the people working at the hotel: every team member, including the owner himself, was extremely friendly and attentive. The atmosphere felt a bit like being at home – warm and familiar. 😊 Thank you for the wonderful stay at your lovely hotel!

We stayed two nights at this hotel and had an exceptional experience. The owner, Lucas, was incredibly friendly and attentive—always making sure everything was perfect. If you're looking for an authentic Venetian stay, this is the place to be. The hotel was spotless, with a remarkable attention to detail throughout. Every restaurant recommendation they gave us was a hidden gem—away from the crowds and offering some of the best food we've had in Venice. They truly went above and beyond, handling all our reservations, from restaurants to water taxis. Breakfast was another highlight. We usually skip hotel breakfasts because they often feel mass-produced and uninspired, but not here. Each morning featured a beautifully presented and delicious menu that changed daily. It felt like dining at a boutique café. We can't recommend this place enough and will absolutely return on our next visit to Venice.

My favorite hotel of our trip. The room was cozy with all the amenities anyone could need. The inside of the hotel was gorgeous. The breakfast every morning was delicious above and beyond other hotels, we’ve stayed at during any of our trips! They had 24 hour reception and the staff were wonderful! Highly recommend this hotel for your next day in Venice💕

Yelp
This luxury boutique hotel is amazing. Rooms are so different and unique with state of the art lighting and door locks. Hotel itself is beautifully decorated with incredible attention to detail. Breakfast is Michelin quality. Not kidding.

Yelp
I wish I could go back to my hesitating-self when I was unsure of whether to book this hotel or not. I loved it and would be back here in a heartbeat. Location is convenient, has 10 boutique rooms, the staff goes above and beyond to make you smile, on a quiet street and the hotel is spotless! Finding a hotel this clean in Venice is not an easy feat. You feel like you are at home here. Bed sheets are crisp, the towels are fluffy, the floors are squeaky clean and bathrooms fully modern and renovated. The water pressure is the best I've experienced in Europe (strange thing to noice I know...) We came here for our wedding anniversary and staff found out about it by an offhand comment my wife made. They surprised us with a complimentary bottle of champagne and a hand written note. They have a beautiful little outside breakfast area, and the Italian coffee they freshly brew for you is to die for. The chef Luca will come out to greet you and make you smile. His custom made omelettes and eggs are spectacular. You get your own little pot of coffee too! I'm going to miss this place... They really do make your stay special and are incredibly helpful with any questions you may have. It's easy to get anywhere from this location. Conveniently located and lots do do nearby :)

Yelp
Conveniently located near San Marco (St. Mark's Square in English) and the San Angelo water bus station, this hotel is one of thee best hotels I have ever had the opportunity to stay in. Without being blatantly insulting the European standard of sanitation, public health, and overall cleanliness is just at a lower scale than what Americans are used to, so a simple Motel 6 in the US could easily be ranked a 3.5 - 4-stars in Europe...at least in Italy. However, Corte di Gabriela couldn't stand further from that statement. It has the homely-warm feel of a B&B, but the luxurious comfort and attentive service of a top notch American hotel. Did I already mention that it's clean? I'll say it again...the upkeep of this place is impeccable. I think I remember seeing that they we're also top ranked on TripAdvisor too. The rooms were extremely spacious but the overall hotel was extremely tiny. I think there were no more 15 rooms total. In fact, our floor had 2, possibly 3 rooms max. So, if you're planning a trip to Venice, book early because they reach max capacity easily. But the best part of the hotel is the complimentary breakfast served every morning between 8am-11am. AN ABSOLUTE MUST TRY if you're a guest here. Tray after tray of freshly baked pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, salads, cereals, spreads...crepes and omelets made to order....freshly squeezed juices, unlimited prosecco for mimosas or belinis, and of course cappuccinos and espressos to top it all off. It was by far the best breakfast during my 17-day trip in Europe trip. Additional amenities include free wifi during the duration of your stay, fresh fruit upon check-in, and a gondola ride station from inside the hotel. If you love boutique hotels and love the decor of Pottery Barn meets W Hotel....this is your place.

Yelp
I went the extra mile and added this business here so at least Americans stay away from that upgraded air bnb.. The stay there ruined a magical trip we had for 8 nights when the last night was there and their attitude and disgusting behavior completely ruined it all, don't get me wrong they invested on fancy linen and nice breakfast but they'll treat you like crap and you can NOT report it anywhere since they advertise with a bunch of online booking sites and they'll do everything to block your reviews. Beware! You might end up just like us stuck between the street and the receptionist where you'll have NO privacy or any hotel feel and you pay almost as much as you'll pay for Danieli which is the fanciest hotel in Venice

Yelp
Who wouldn't fall in love at this romantic and elegant place. All the details to make us feel welcomed were in place. There were even welcome notes in our room. It was so peaceful and quiet (aside from the church bells we heard in the distance outside our window) There aren't many places that I've slept as well as I slept here. The shower in our bathroom was invigorating and refreshing after our overseas flight. The location was ideal for exploring Venice and getting to and from the airport with ease via water taxi. I adored the view from our room and their breakfast was the perfect mix of savory and sweet to please every pallet and appetite. My favorite was the made to order crepes. There are plenty of seats in the dining room to enjoy breakfast but I recommend the heated courtyard under the Japanese wisteria trees, espresso optional. The heart shaped soap they gave me as the parting gift was a thoughtful touch and made me love our stay even more.
