Cortina Italian Chophouse

Really solid lunch spot for ski days at the montage. Prices are reasonable and portions are on the smaller side esp if you’re skiing hard. I wish they had a bit of a larger menu, but the reason they keep it to this size (and mostly pasta) is to make sure you can get in and out in 45 minutes. Service, as expected, is phenomenal in the restaurant itself is beautiful.

Cortina was one of the best meals I have had here in Big Sky. The pairings were incredible, our server Santiago made sure we were taken care of and the hospitality was second to none. The food itself was very flavorful, well balanced and prepared with exceptional care and attention. Refined cooking with Montana influence. The tartar was one of the best Ive had. Will definitely be back.

The atmosphere is welcoming and pleasant, and they provide good service. Their specialty is Italian food, but they also have good alternative dishes. The meat is cooked to perfection according to your preference. The desserts are good, especially the tiramisu and the chocolate bombe. Highly recommended for a pleasant and enjoyable time.

We dined at Cortina for Christmas dinner and it was sublime. From the moment we walked in, with all the hotel holiday decorations, to the exceptional service, to the incredible food, and stuffed bellies, this was a meal and experience to remember. We sat by the window and had a stunning, picturesque view with lights everywhere. The sourdough bread is a MUST! Bravo to the Chef and kitchen team! I literally wanted to take 3 loaves home because it’s the best tasting, chewy, delicious bread ever. Grateful for the vegan options: enjoyed the Zucca - squash pumpkin & cashew puree as an appetizer with sage - lovely presentation. The Pera Cotta Al Vina was a winner with mulled wine poached pear, radicchio, candied walnuts and pecorino. If you order the Branzino, you will eat the entire plate. Trust me, didn’t think I would but I did. And our incredibly friendly server (ugh, can’t recall her name but she’s from the Philippines and snowboards!) said that no one leaves food on the plate when they order the branzino. My spouse had the Bison Ribeye duo and preferred the filet to the other cut. I wish we had room for pasta because that’s their speciality, but I wanted to make sure we had enough room dessert without feeling disgusted. All I can say is if you are a tiramisu fan, you will NOT want to miss that (but I would also have loved to had room for the Affogato!). The tiramisu presentation is mindblowing and generous! We gratefully took it home and ate off it for 2 more days. Don’t miss Cortina if you visit Big Sky. Besides The Landing it was our favorite restaurant during the holidays and was pure perfection for something as special as Christmas! Thank you!

Had a wonderful meal celebrating my friend’s birthday! Our server Daniel and the bartender Nick took wonderful care of us, providing great recommendations and hospitality. The burrata, sourdough, and bolognese were phenomenal especially when paired with their recommended drinks. It was a busy night and the staff was still so friendly and detail oriented. Can’t recommend enough!

I recently celebrated my birthday at Cortina and had an absolutely incredible experience. The food was outstanding, and the service—especially from Daniel—was truly top-tier. He was one of the best servers I’ve ever had: attentive, kind, and made the night feel extra special. Everything exceeded my expectations. 10/10 would recommend, and I highly suggest requesting Daniel!

We had two wonderful dinner experiences at Cortina during our stay at the Montage Big Sky a few weeks ago. Our waiter, Santiago, was fantastic - super kind, knowledgable, and attentive and he really went above and beyond to make both dinners memorable dining experiences. The food was absolutely delicious and really showcased the wonderful local ingredients Montana has to offer.

Cortina at Montage is an absolute gem! From the warm, welcoming ambiance to the perfectly crafted Italian dishes, every detail felt thoughtful and elevated. The pasta was divine, the cocktails spot-on, and the views? Unreal. Service was impeccable—friendly without being fussy. Can’t wait to come back!

While skiing at Big Sky, we stayed at the Montage hotel within the Spanish Peaks Mountain Club. The ski-in, ski-out lounge was incredibly convenient--I never had to lug my skis and boots anywhere. Our favorite spot in the hotel was Cantina, where the cocktails crafted by the friendly bartender, Peter, were absolutely top-notch--some of the best I've ever had. The house-made pasta, fresh salads, and warm hospitality made dining there a delight. Mornings were just as enjoyable, with delicious and healthy breakfasts, mimosas, green juices, and an extensive wine collection. And, of course, the breathtaking mountain views made the entire experience unforgettable.

This restaurant is SO good and SO nice. Definitely a treat! Don't sleep on the chicken. It's incredible. Our waiter Teddy was so accommodating. We will definitely be going back next time we're in Big Sky!

We've eaten here for breakfast and dinner. The food is good and ambiance is nice. Staff are attentive. But we had a server named Robert for both dinner and breakfast services. ( they seem to work staff back to back shifts) This young man is beyond exceptional!. He gets 5 stars! He was not so obsequious as most of the staff are trained to be. Our interaction with him made our meals more enjoyable and,as mentioned, the food is above good but not memorable. Thank you,Robert, for making our meals memorable and personal! He actually was called in on his time off to fill in for evening service having just done breakfast service with us earlier , and he came to our dinner table to check in even though he wasn't our assigned person! He's that guy! Hotel needs more "real" people like him!

Came in w/a large table of 11 for a birthday dinner. The reception was very friendly when making the reservation. The restaurant and views are amazing. Service and food was 5 star. They even all signed a birthday card for our friend and came out with a special dessert. Cons: Another large table had some loud toddlers, which was a bit noisy. With a table of 11, we had to sit at two neighboring tables vs one big table to avoid having to eat off of a family style menu - I wish this couldve been avoided, but we made it work. I wouldve marked it to 4 stars for this, but the service and everyone we encountered were so lovely, I still gave it a 5.

Everything about Cortina is excellent! The service is outstanding, the food and ambience is excellent. This is our second time dining here.

Came here while on vacation & it did not disappoint. Every item on the menu was good (we got most of them) but would recommend the bison, steak tartare, & the risotto with the veal- 10/10. Our waitress Kasey was truly one of the best we've ever had, she made a whole experience out of the meal. Cannot recommend enough!

Cortina is a world-class Italian restaurant within the Montage Hotel in Big Sky, Montana.the menu is continental Italian, plus beef and other game offerings, with pasta and vegetables, followed by spectacular European desserts. All are top notch. Service is impeccable, price is what you'd expected in such a high end establishment. Cortina is a drive away from the hustle and bustle of the main Big Sky slopes, but you can ski to and from Cortina via the Lewis and Clark trail and lift. The best!

Our server was absolutely outstanding! He was knowledgeable of the menu and so polished. The burrata had to be the best I've had since I was in Italy! And truly the same goes for the pasta. The last I enjoyed authentic Italian pasta was in Rome. These chefs do such a wonderfully job. Every day is a celebration at Cortina, it was the perfect place for my mother's birthday. My veal cutlet was served on the bone and was delightful. I did find myself wanting more lemon or sauce, as the breading was perfectly crispy but just needed a little extra something. I would absolutely recommend anyone staying in Big Sky or Montage to experience Cortina.

As the main restaurant at the Montage, this is not a restaurant that's yet on the map of Big Sky, but certainly starting to get there. It has a pleasant design with tall ceilings and cozy seating. When it comes to Breakfast experiences, on busy days, Cortina offers a buffet for guests priced at $58 and an enhanced A-La-Carte menu on the days when buffet is not available due to limited guest capacity. The Turkey eggs Benedict is prepared in a very classic fashion and was executed well. Avocado toast has some wonderful bread that is clearly freshly baked and tastes spectacular. Potatoes are very well done. The huevos rancheros was not executed particularly well, with the dish being very heavily dominated by the sauce, throwing the balance a bit off. Despite that, it was tasty, but almost impossible to finish the volume of sauce relative to other ingredients. When it comes to the buffet, selections are fairly basic for the price that it costs and frankly, I would not recommend that option. Aside from the usual bacon and potatoes, the buffet does have croissants and an omelette station, so basics are covered at a five star hotel level, but that's about it. It is far from buffets at some of the other resorts of this caliber and cost just as much. A La Carte is much better both value and quality wise. Dinner was also very well executed, from the filet mignon to the bison tartare and trout. One of the best things here are the staff, like Katie and Manish, who went above and beyond. With that said, on one of the days where the hotel was at higher occupancy, the team really struggled to cover the tables and was majorly understaffed. Thus, I fear how they will be able to handle the load in the rapidly approaching ski season. Lastly, I have to highlight the platters and pottery. Clean presentation on all dishes, with some being served in gorgeous Staub dishes, with even the coffee being poured into Jono Pandolfi pottery. Such details really do make a difference. Cortina is an excellent spot for being fairly new. Aside from suggestions above, it would be nice to see some additional selections to highlight the terroir of Montana, such as a better steak selection, bison and elk. Perhaps some mountain berries and plants consumed by indigenous populations. While it is an Italian restaurant, it's identity is already fairly confused: very little of it is actually Italian and my humble opinion is that an upscale Italian restaurant is not what most of the guests would want coming to Montana anyways. Italian spots are a dime a dozen in big cities where most of the guests arrive from, so not only does it mean the standard has to be higher, but experiencing a high end variant of Montana dining and ingredients would be much more interesting to me personally.

Some things are worth splurging for and the Cortina is one of them. We went for my birthday and am so glad we did. The service was spectacular - the perfect balance between being attentive but not hovering. Everyone was so friendly! And then there's the food. I ordered the petit beef filet (an unusual choice for me) and it was spectacular. I ordered the crispy potatoes as a side - these were the best potatoes I've ever had! Order them! I could easily eat them every day of my life. They are prepared in an aioli sauce but beyond that how they make them so delicious remains a mystery. Thanks to Max, Ryan, Renatta and the crew for a very special birthday.

One of the two best restaurants in Big Sky. Perhaps the best tiramisu we've ever had - but everything was amazing from the lasagna to the service. Our server Peter was perfect, an adjective that we rarely, if ever have included on a Yelp. We might stay here at the Montage in the future just to eat at this restaurant, but will most definitely make it a staple every time we return and highly recommend it.

Molto bene! The atmosphere in Cortina was excellent, service was superb. Don't miss out on the lasagna. If I could give it more than five stars, I would. The Bolognese the focaccia bread and the Cacio Bene were all incredible. Food is always great but Vera our server made our experience so personal and special. Can't wait to return!!

Amazing experience with beautiful ambiance and scenery. The restaurant is up in a mountain inside of a gorgeous 5 star hotel. The food was pricey but very good and the service was phenomenal. Everyone was beyond welcoming & nice. The views were surreal. The hotel had skiing, tubing plus they offered us s'mores by the fire! A one of a kind experience overall! Thank you to everyone that made our night so special

Phenomenal atmosphere in Big Sky Montana! Nothing beats fine Italian cuisine like this place. 10/10 recommend.

Excellent service we came for 30 year anniversary,wine list amazing and sommelier was very knowledgeable and very welcoming. We ordered antelope tartare was done in front of us, and the prosciutto was superb. As a main dish we had double pork chop, done to the perfection the portions are really generous, I had a vegetable lasagna, and we had a pistachio with dark chocolate dessert that won't make you feel guilty of not following your diet.

Absolutely amazing! Best place in Big Sky to eat. Healthy yet tastes amazing. Almost everything is either made from scratch or imported from Italy. No need for special club access. All are welcome. Valet parking only.

Superb. The chef was a master. Pumpkin prosciutto pine nut soup, best I've ever had. He combined various meats including bison pheasant and venison together in the bolognese and lasagna which were delicious even for someone not inclined to gamy fare.

The best meal I have had in a long time cocktails superb, antipasta trout n caviar wonderful, my daughters and I ordered family style and uber enjoyed all the dishes the deserts were also wonderful. Vera best wait staff,old world service uncommon these days

Cortina delivered an elegant, delicious, memorable dinner for our family. From our first moment when greeted to meeting MC, our excellent host, to the quality of the food, this restaurant outshined many of the finest places in Los Angeles. The service could not possibly have been better. Always attendant and seemed to pick their moments so they never interrupted conversation. MC was personable, utterly professional and knew every item on the menu, providing recommendations when asked. She was a delight, as were other personnel who took time to engage with us. We had heard about the restaurant from other family members and our experience mirrored theirs. If you have the opportunity, Cortina is more than worth the drive.

Ambience is amazing as well as the food. We did not a reservation but were able to dine at the bar and were seated immediately. The staff were amazing especially Jay , who was serving us at the bar. The lamb shank and tagliatelle fungi were both insane!

First rate meal. Absolutely excellent Italian food. Small things done well throughout the meal. Service was top notch. The tiramisu was the best I've ever had.

Really surprised and disappointed. Supposed to be a very upscale place, but unfortunately not on many levels. Started with an 8 pm reservation that did not seat us until just after 8:30 pm (as we sat at the bar and saw another party our size get seated at 8:15). Ordered wine, that clearly had 'turned'. When we told our waiter, his response was (believe it or not) "yes, we've been having problems with this bottle." Yet it was served to us. Food was marginal to abysmal. $130 Wagyu rib ribeye arrived well done (asked for medium rare). When replaced was still a solid medium. Conversely, beef tenderloin arrived raw inside (requested medium rare) and after sent back, came back less than 5 mins, still raw in parts. Suspect it was microwaved. Finished it off with a mint chocolate chip gelato that had freezer burn and was grainy to taste. Buyer beware. Have been here (Big Sky) a week so far, and have otherwise had superb meals!

Chef Rachel is the best. Everything that is put on a plate is worth eating. The staff and kitchen crew are top notch. Couldn't have asked for a better Thanksgiving meal. The regular menu is phenomenal as well.

This is not a good restaurant and I don't recommend it. The carbonara is not carbonara, no egg to be found and the pork is translucent pieces of fat I couldn't even eat. Zero flavor. Our food took forever and was cold when it arrived. The staff was stiff and robotic. If you're looking for a unique, authentic Big Sky experience go to Horn & Cantle.

I rarely write reviews, but this place was excellent! Try the baby artichokes, the braised smoked greens. Nuanced flavors all around. Great service. Incredible cocktails too. Best food we've had on the mountain.
