Family-owned Colombian diner/bakery serving filling food 24/7 in an old-time setting.
"If you’re standing under a large, multicolored cow suspended over Roosevelt Avenue, you’ve come to the right place. It’s hard not to be in a good mood at this neon-lit, 24-hour diner, open since 2000 in Jackson Heights. Hand-painted cartoon characters, peace signs, and Postobon bottle caps gracing the walls and ceilings make a warm impression—as do the staff, who’ll help you choose from the extensive menu with full-color photos of every item. From seafood fettuccine to cheeseburgers with ham, Cositas Ricas does a lot of things, and does them very well. But we’d suggest you let the cow in the sky guide you: Order a juicy, well crusted steak." - molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim
"If you’re standing under a large, multicolored cow suspended over Roosevelt Avenue, you’ve come to the right place. It’s hard not to be in a good mood at this neon-lit, 24-hour Colombian diner in Jackson Heights, open since 2000. The hand-painted cartoon characters, peace signs, and Postobon bottle caps make an immediately warm impression. So does the service. The staff are eager to offer recommendations, which is highly appreciated, given that the extensive, photo-filled menu ranges from trout, to chicken fingers, to ham-and-cheese sandwiches. photo credit: Kate Previte After dark, the family cafeteria atmosphere transforms into a continuation of whichever party you just came from. (J. Balvin even filmed a music video at the restaurant.) Cositas Ricas is a good choice for any meal, at any time of day, but we’d suggest you let the cow in the sky guide you, and order a juicy, well crusted steak. Food Rundown photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick Sancocho De Punta There’s so much salty (but not too salty), beefy flavor to this soup. The meat is falling off the bone and the chunks of yucca have an agreeable chew. photo credit: Kate Previte Chicharron Douse their wonderfully crispy chicharron in lime and hot sauce, then pat yourself on the back for choosing such a high-protein snack. photo credit: Kate Previte Churrasco De Guacamole This sirloin steak comes sizzling on a cast-iron skillet, which, frankly, would be enough multisensory entertainment to win us over. It also tastes good, and the fact it’s crowned with guacamole and a stegosaurus spine of freshly fried chips certainly doesn’t hurt." - Molly Fitzpatrick
"Cositas Ricas is essentially a big Colombian diner, and it’s ideal for when you need to eat with a bunch of people who all want different things. The menu is huge, and you can get everything from a whole fish to some chicken fingers - but we typically eat steak of some kind with rice and beans or yuca. There are also plenty of TVs where you can watch soccer while you eat, and a lot of neon lights that will subconsciously improve your mood." - hannah albertine, bryan kim
"At nearby Colombian restaurant Cositas Ricas, most diners preferred to eat outdoors." - Tanay Warerkar
