Where to Eat Out in the Twin Cities on Thanksgiving - Eater Twin Cities

"With seatings at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., Cosmos is hosting a $65 per person ($18 for children 5-12 and free for wee ones under five) Thanksgiving buffet. It has five distinct components: a Flavor Minneapolis station that spots Midwest cheeses and meats, a cold station with a variety of salads and fruits, a hot station that boats everything from casserole to stuffing, a carving station with turkey and ham, and, of course, a dessert station with several classics." - Cinnamon Janzer

So we only had house salads, but the greens were super crisp and fresh. I could tell the dressing was homemade and was very delicious. The waitress was very attentive and answered a lot of our questions about various menu items. Great ambiance very sexy.

We were staying at the Loews and had both to go (Dinner) and in room service (Breakfast) food from Cosmos Restaurant. We ordered our dinner to go at the bar to bring to our room while staying at the Loews. We both had the Loews burger with fries and cheesecake with fresh berries. I had a mixed green salad and my husband had a cesar salad. The mixed green salad was absolutely delicious. Zero complaints. The greens were fresh and plenty of vegetables were mixed into the salad. The vinaigrette was excellent. The cesar salad on the other hand was not. The dressing tasted like it came out of a bottle. Some of the salad had a sad wilt to it and it was just... unappetizing. Neither of our burgers had the fried egg listed in the description. Husbands medium rare was rare. My medium well was very very well. I'm unsure if anything else was missing besides the fried egg as we just kind of unhappily ate about 1/2 of my burger and set them aside. The fries were similar to what you'd get at any restaurant (Perkins style). I'm not sure why the prices are what they are. The cheesecake was excellent. The berries were fresh and the whip cream was definitely handmade and absolutely divine. Well worth it. All in all disappointing meal and we went to bed hungry. Due to the good reviews for breakfast on here we decided to give that a shot to see if the restaurant had any good qualities. We ordered in room service. I forgot to take photos of breakfast unfortunately, sorry! I had eggs, toast and fresh fruit. My husband had French toast. We also had a pot of coffee. The breakfast was excellent. Keep in mind we were extra hungry due to not getting much to eat the night before. It wasn't worth the cost but we may have ordered the wrong items. We tried but this restaurant seems to be priced near fine dining with food near Perkins level. I suggest going elsewhere.

Tony is hands down the best bartender I've ever had, his positive energy is contagious. I came in feeling down but just talking to him before ordering a cocktail made me feel amazing!

I've been here twice, both times around Valentine's day. I really like the look of the restaurant, I think it's modern. I made reservations both times on OpenTable, so we didn't have a wait. I like the food here, I think the flavors are bold and the dishes look great. The service we had was very attentive and friendly. You can order off the menu or do a set menu. I've experienced both ordering of the menu and a set, and I enjoyed both. If you do the set menu, I think it'll be over 100$ for two people, but if you order off the menu, I think you can have a very good meal for under 100$. We didn't know this beforehand, but there is free valet parking. The restroom is very clean and probably one of the nicest I've been to.

Google
Do not waste your money or time here!! We spent 2 hours waiting for our breakfast to come out. Absolutely horrible service. The woman who was our server messed up our order. They completely forgot about half of our order and brought it out 10 min after the rest of the food. The food that did come out was nothing special.

It is far beyond of what you expect from Hotel’s restaurant. We were so happy not to go looking to dine in the city! Ribs and half chicken is what we had. Both great. Ah, and unexpected scrambled eggs burrito for breakfast …

Such an amazing place to hang out and have some really good dinner! From the salads to steak frites you can go wrong!! I'm here a few times a week and the service is absolutely amazing!! I really recommend this for a nice quite dinner!!

Google
Our waitress was so very nice, but not overly attentive. The tables are so close together, you may as well be sitting with the people next to you. We couldn't talk over them and our food started tasting like their perfume. I had the soup of the moment. It tasted good, but was quite sparce in ingredients. Then I heard why. .... The table near us asked about the soup and were told it was gone. I got the bottom of the pot. Not worth the high price for a bowl of soup!

Yelp
Food was wonderful! Very quiet place, however the service was not great. There was usually 2-3 servers working and the restaurant was never busy. Last night we were the only ones in the entire restaurant and we were left waiting to order drinks for 15 minutes. Everytime we went to get breakfast we had to wait forever for someone to help us. They would help other tables and ignore us. Super weird. Room service was better and always came super fast, I would recommend that over going to the restaurant because they are not attentive.

Yelp
It was just ok for a hotel restaurant. Service was great though. Omelet was decent. And it was clean .

Yelp
The chef's tasting was one of the best food experiences we've ever had. Given we spent six years in San Francisco with amazing restaurants that says a lot. Between Will pairing the most perfect wines with every course, to sous chefs Jeremiah and Laura curating the most flavorful and unique dishes, everything about the night was so wonderful. The chef's tasting is done in the kitchen so you have access to the chef's as they cook. It starts with the chef's talking with you about your likes and dislikes with them. Then they design your menu based on your discussion. We will be doing this at least once a year. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fun and adventurous food experience.

Yelp
We came for dinner and it was so bad. We ordered the pork belly bao buns and they were so bad. The buns were heated unevenly and hard on the outside. They were embarrassingly bad. The pork was thin and lacked flavor. It was almost like they were heated from frozen. For mains, we ordered short ribs, pasta and wedge salad and steaks. Well everything was meh but I guess there are hits and misses with restaurants. However this is the Loews hotel and my expectations were high. I guess it's lesson learned. Beware of this restaurant. Oh and service was subpar. Let's move on to another place.

Yelp
Stayed here for a night and had both a late dinner and breakfast. It had a beautiful modern decor with a staff that was ultra friendly and pleasant. I had the beet salad and walleye slider which were both great. Omelet with quinoa was wonderful in the morning. One of the better hotel restaurants that I've experienced. Highly recommend.

Yelp
More people need to know about this restaurant, especially vegans and vegetarians. Don't let the fact that this restaurant is in a hotel scare you away. They have a great menu with creative veggie options that changes seasonally. In addition to fresh salads, you can get a changing assortment of vegan meats and cheeses from Herbivorous Butcher as part of a vegan charcuterie plate. It's a great way to sample HBs stuff without dropping big bucks at the shop. They also feature HB meat-free meat in a well curated dish. My husband had the vegan short ribs with succotash and I had a very nice pea risotto. It's becoming of our favorite places, being one of the few places to have an upscale vegetarian dining experience in Minneapolis. Service is great and there is free valet when eating at the restaurant.

Yelp
Five stars for excellent service, vegan options from Herbivorus Butcher, wild mushrooms and decent cocktails! For a Friday it was not very busy between 5-7:00 so we want to get the word out that this place has really has it all. Cosmos is on the 4th floor of the Lowe hotel in downtown Mpls. It isn't well marked from the street or even inside the hotel. The chef has his own foraging company and as a wild-crafter I was pleased with his *real* wild mushrooms that were very fresh! Delicious fall treat! Only thing I would change is having a vegan dessert option. We will be back! Tip: if you have special dietary needs tell the staff at the beginning to avoid freebies that are not in your diet being brought to your table. Nice touch if you don't have diet restrictions.

Yelp
I ate here for Thanksgiving dinner meal and it was the ultimate disappointment. The food was subpar with the yams and green bean casserole not cooked completely. The desserts seemed to be small tarts from Costco. They charged a 20% tip for a buffet that was automatically included in your check! Will never be frequenting this place again. Save your money and go somewhere with better food that's cheaper (probably anywhere else).

Yelp
Great as always! We love coming here. This is a great restaurant. We chose the tasting menu. It was fabulous. Make sure to ask for recommendations. They will always give you ideas. Dessert was incredible! Service is top notch!

Yelp
Dinner at Cosmos is an experience. Unlike many hotel restaurants, Cosmos serves up ambiance, excellent food, and great service for an all-around wonderful dinner. They start dinner by providing a delicious amuse-bouche, bring out a tasty juice palate-cleanser "shot" in the middle, and end the evening with a lovely chocolate truffle. And that's on top of what you actually order. The wait staff are very knowledgable and friendly, which adds to the feel of an upscale dining experience. I love how clever the chef gets with the rotating menu options and have never had a dish I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Try the tasting menu, which changes frequently. You won't be disappointed. Cosmos is one of the best fine dining restaurants in the Twin Cities and should not be missed!

Yelp
I love coming back to this place because the service is superb. I also love the modern decor and the music they place. They also have great cocktail and wine list. I will come back again.

Yelp
We made a reservation this weekend at this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We went through a bunch of restaurants and picked this one because their menu on their website looked very interesting. When we arrived at the restaurant we were pleased with the ambiance and the hospitality from the staff. The menu they gave us though was very different from what we saw online It is nearly half the menu and it not even remotely as interesting. When we asked about it, they said they didn't update the menu online. We tried to see if there are any items that would interest us. Unfortunately we didn't find any. I think dropping half of their menu (particularly dropping the more interesting half) is a big mistake. We said we have to go and they were very apologetic and courteous to us. We just went another nice restaurant nearby without a reservation, but were lucky enough to get in.

Yelp
I used to come here like at least twice a month for a period of time. It's great because it's always empty or close to it. I'm not kidding, there have been times where we were the only people in the place. Which we never understood because the food is excellent, most of the time. There's been a few dishes that weren't my favorite but we would always get the tasting menu and we came here a lot, so out of 100+ dishes, there's bound to be some outs. The wait staff are awesome and we had a wine there from a suggestion by a waiter that forever became a staple at home.

Yelp
Valentines Day - set dinner - and a horrible experience. Everything was salty. But here the best after we mentioned it to the waitress he said: "I am not surprised, someone else mentioned it already. The kitchen says you have to eat it with the lobster than it is not so bad" I have to say we were speechless. They acknowledge it is salty, expect you to eat it a certain way and do not even bother telling you. If it would not have been for the $85 per person set price i would even have laughed louder.

Yelp
Cosmos is located inside the Lowes Hotel(the old Graves Hotel). I liked that they have complimentary valet parking for eating at the restaurant. It's a very nice quiet place to dine. The waiters were really nice, but he could not remember what we all ordered and had to come back to ask us again. And while everyone's dinner was served they made a "mistake" on mine so it came out later then everyone's which meant I ate by myself while everyone had finished their meals. I'm sure they forgot my order!!!! Was not happy about that and I asked for medium and it looked more like medium rare! Regardless, I still are it but I didn't like the mushroom or carrots that they had with the dish. It wasn't good. Overall, the people there were nice, the place is very nice but food was not all that. I wasn't satisfied my first impression there.

Yelp
After a short flight from San Francisco and a quick taxi ride to the city, I finally made it to Minneapolis! First thing was first: check into the hotel, unpack and grab a bite to eat. My new coworker, mentioned a place in the hotel that offers really good food. I had an hour before they closed so I ran over and just in time! This restaurant is located on the 4th floor of the Loews hotel. It's a super dramatic space. Huge pillars, low lit intimate lighting, long drapes and hanging glass pieces to block the bar area. The tiling on the floor and glassware on the table tops really solidify the regal setting. The staff treated me in that same consistent manner. They were very professional and definitely served in the manner of a high end restaurant. For dinner, I started with the Banfi Pinot Grigio for $8. To me, it tasted more like a riesling with a bite. It didn't taste like a pinot grigio I'm used to. I don't know how expensive of a bottle it is, but it was a little too sweet for what I was expecting. As a starter, I got the wild rice soup for $9. It was roasted chicken, porcini mushrooms and wild rice. OH EM GEE! This was a great soup! Super hearty and filled with chicken and rice! I've had a lot of wild rice soups in the past and this has to be one of my favorites! Lots of flavors and textures. For dinner, I got the Pan Seared Sea Scallops for $30. 3 seared scallops, a square of crispy pork belly over parsnip puree, compressed apple-fig salad and arugula oil. I LOVED the pork belly. Talk about the perfectly cooked crispy belly. It was crispy and salty, marbleized and flavorful! So good! The scallops were perfectly seared, loved the crispy tips and soft inside. My only criticism was that it was too salty. Thank goodness for the sweet parsnip and the tangy salad to help cut through the salt. All in all a good dish though! I'm definitely a fan of this place! The food was great for the most part, the ambiance was awesome and I felt well taken care of. I think this is a great addition to a fabulous hotel. If you're downtown, remember that you don't' need to stay at Loews to enjoy this place. Come by and check it out!

Yelp
Wow! Is all I could say. A quiet and upscale restaurant located on the 4th floor or hotel Loews. They offer free valet if you eat at Cosmos, just be sure to let the valet know and get your ticket comped. The menu was small & they change it often. I ordered a tuna tartar $14, beef tenderloin with king crab $40, and for drinks I got the hidden agenda $15. Yes, pretty spendy BUT I must say, it's all worth it. The tuna tar tar came with an avocado sorbet. So much flavor and delicious! It just melted in my mouth. The beef tenderloin and king crab was the BEST I've had in a long time. The beef was so tender and just melted in my mouth! I would definitely come here again! During the meek we also got clam chowder, a palette cleanser (I don't know if that's the correct term) and chocolates with pistachio bites which were AMAZING!! The service was alright. The man serving is practically dropped a wine glass on me. My sister was the last to get her meal because they dropped her steak on the ground so she watched us eat for about 15 min.

Yelp
Oh my goodness gracious, I never expected this fare upon my first trip to the fine city of Minneapolis. Nothing was spared, exquisite is damn appropriate verbiage, and it can easily compare and surpass any upper crustie hangout in Seattle. We shared a plethora of appetizers to start - ...well, actually I had a Bombay Sapphire with extra lime to start, heh. Ahi Tuna Tartare, Wagyu Beef & Maryland Crab Cakes. The Ahi was foodgasmic, rich and savory, yet the fish was sweet. I'm not fan of crab, but loved the seasoning of these crab cakes. And Wagyu beef prepped like this should be as illegal as street drugs. Dizzying. Then salad: I had the Chilean Sea Bass Ceviche. It tickled my palate, and wasn't as tart as some I have had, so I could still taste the fish in a pleasant way, crisp & delectable. I felt inclined to share - only a little however. We then moved on after a sorbet to cleanse away taste I actually did not want to go away... yes, we ate more.... Angus Tenderloin. Knives can be excused. Buttery Bovine perfection. My friend poked me, as I apparently closed my eyes to let it play a round of pro Canadian curling with my tastebuds. She assumed I was asleep sitting up, with beef in my mouth. Dummy. We then moved onto dessert, and tho I said no as to not pass out, I partook of friend's dishes. Helllooo APPLE. Sinful spoonful of heaven to finish the meal. Both wait staff we had were professional, fun, QUICK and knowledgeable. We requested the chef come out so we could fawn over him, and he complimented us back with a chocolate array. And the poster re: the restrooms is right. The last time I saw organic materials used in interior space so beautifully was at a resort in Bali. Nothing was left untouched for your five senses here. Luckily I had a marshmallow bed to land in 4 floors above me in the Graves601 as I should not have driven after the Cosmos experience.

Yelp
The more expensive and ritzy the restaurant, the better the likelihood that its chef is incompetent at cooking vegetables and using his/her imagination to make a creative, tasty dish without meat and butter. Indeed, if you're vegan, you'll often end up with boiled vegetables and sorbet. For $50. That said, Cosmos is slightly better than your average expensive restaurant. I came here with a number of colleagues and Cosmos was super-friendly and easy-going with our frequent reservation corrections beforehand. My table's server was charismatic, smooth and efficient, and somehow managed to make my vegan dishes seem more interesting and appealing than my colleagues' ordinary meat and seafood entrees. Indeed, his descriptions of the off-menu vegan dishes made my colleagues think twice about their orders. The starter salad was okay, but nothing special. My main course showed some signs of competence and imagination in the kitchen: it was a mushroom-rice risotto stuffed inside skinned tomatoes, served atop mustard greens with a side of artichokes. It was artfully presented (looked like a bouquet of flowers) and tasted good, though it could have used more flavoring or some kind of curry sauce. For dessert, I got a sorbet (why can't a restaurant like this make a tofu cheesecake? sorbet is boringly enough the default vegan dessert), but it was lemongrass flavored, which was unusual and got my attention. They served it with fresh blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, which stood out as an excellent, personalized touch. One of my colleagues said my dessert should have been on the menu, as it was so lovely. But, for $40-50, I was not blown away by my meal. It was certainly better than I've had at other expensive places, but it wasn't good enough for me to justify returning, especially not at that price. Also, while the bar looks great and the service is awesome, I was shocked by their pathetic, sports-bar beer menu which was overpriced and had no microbrews (a bottle of Miller Lite for $6? seriously? at a place that charges $25 a plate?). Their cocktails looked appealing, but were hard to justify at $14 a piece. The ambience at Cosmos is decidedly lounge-modern, the type of place where you'd expect to meet runway models at after-parties. I like that it's quiet and spacious. The service is excellent but the food for vegans is nothing to rave about.

Yelp
So I'll definitely be back. I really enjoyed my recent dinner and was surprised that the place wasn't busier. I guess being on the 4th floor of a hotel doesn't help. Anyway, although the gals I was with went for the $55 six course (tastings) menu I went with the a la carte. - the butterhead lettuce (with granola and some hard cheese) was delicious. I've heard of butterhead lettuce, but never tried and I'm glad that I did. It a real tender leaf with mild flavor. Any the salad was very simple, had very little dressing, but I think the simplicity is what made it so good. -for my entree, I got the BBQ pork chop which pretty good. With it came braised beef shoulder which was yummy. There was also a coleslaw which was okay, and a potato salad which I didn't enjoy. It wasn't mayo based. It was just cubes of potatoes with a bit of mustard and lots of mustard seeds. -for the dessert, I didn't like any of the options, so the waiter (who felt was a bit too talkative and intrusive) offered to get me a strawberry cheesecake from the room service menu. He provided the offer of getting something from that separate menu several times to my group. With that said, it's dumb that they even have a separate one. Now getting back to the waiter, Tim, I think he needed something to do. He continuously stopped by just to chat which after became annoying to me. Especially since he always brought a heap of sarcasm and TMI with him. Anyway, I really enjoyed the dinner and the ambiance and the talkative/annoying waiters willingness to accommodate with substitutions. The place is great for a date, friends night out, celebration, business dinner and even a solo dinner. I look forward to the next trip.

Yelp
I had a great experience at Cosmos. I don't usually eat at 'fine dining' establishments due to the cost implications, but I do appreciate these experiences greatly. This being said, my friends and I treated ourselves to a fun outing during restaurant week. We arrived early and had a specialty drinks before we were seated. The cocktails were well mixed, fresh and lively. The raspberry mojito was very good - both visually stunning and very tasty. The Pom Martini was also great - but I'm a sucker for anything that has anything to do with pomegranate! Watch yourself though - a few of these will set you back a pretty penny - the average price is around 13 bucks a drink. The restaurant itself is in the Graves Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. Its a beautiful establishment. Walking into the dinning room you really get the sense that you're experiencing something special; it has a very unique feel to it. I'd call it a feeling of relaxed elegance... comfortable and cool, yet refined. Our service was great. The waiter helped us decide on items (due to the fact that we went during restaurant week we had a set menu, so a smaller choice) based on our food preferences. I chose to go with the confit of Chilean sea bass as my main dish, while my friends chose the beef tenderloin. I could go on and on about the food; from the salad starter of delicate micro greens, to the amuse bouche of lychee that 'popped' in your mouth... the experience was phenomenal. Spendy, but who doesn't like to splurge on something as satisfying as sustenance once in a while!? I highly recommend a dinner visit to this restaurant.

Yelp
Since I was staying at the graves 601 hotel, it was easiest to just go downstairs for breakfast at the restaurant. The menu was your standard breakfast fare. I ended up getting a shiitake, tomato, chive omelet. The omelet was ok - didn't really taste the chives. Oh yea, the fresh squeezed OJ would set you back $8 for a tiny glass. Omelet + small OJ = $25 + mediocre meal. Not the best way to blow your money.

Yelp
One of the best and romantic dinner places in Mpls.! We came here on Valentines Day and ordered drinks at the bar prior to our reservation which was a good move since they only had bottle options on their drink menu rather than wine by the glass. The food was amazing! We started with the Mixed Baby Head Lettuce and the Spicy Basil Shrimp which has become one of my favorite dishes. Then we had the Ahi Tuna Tartare, the Slow Poached Chilean Sea Bass, and the Bison Tenderloin Carpaccio. The sea bass was everything I had hoped for but the small portion is a little too small for two people to share. We split everything and it was just the right amount of food. The service was a little awkward since they dropped some dishes around our table here and there but overall the service was decent. If you want to impress your date and have a romantic evening at a chic place with nice decor and food, come to Cosmos.

Yelp
The drinks are delicious! Being Cosmos, the happy hour is still pricey, but while the food list is short and tasty, the drinks are great! I got the mango mojito, tequila sunrise, and the pineapple mint (I must have been in a high vitamin C mood). The pineapple mint, I could have done 3 of those, sooo good! Service was meh, we had a 20 year old (yes, we asked him how old he was) serving, and he really was just sooo...young? mediocre? not attentive? I don't know, but those drinks, yum. I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Excellent cocktails (I had "wistful thinking") and great food but the best part is the buttermilk chess pie for dessert. One of the best desserts I have ever had in my life. Comes with sherbet, pistachio crumble (or something) and this marshmallow like cream. Amazing!!!! It can be a little difficult to find as you have to go through Loews hotel lobby to the elevator bank and then up to the 4th floor. Right across from Target Center.

Yelp
Wonderful dinner experience. Our second time at Cosmo's and it was a perfect dinner-date! Our server, Adel, was phenomenal- prompt, attentive and knowledgeable without being stuffy. We each ordered the five-course Chef's choice and were not disappointed. It was SO delish! Dinner began with tea- we don't drink. Right away a small bread basket was brought out to us, then a plate with a single (incredibly flavorful) bite with a fancy name, followed by a cheese platter with all sorts of fun items to sample, all very tasty. One of my favorite things was a caper berry, a fascinating item that tasted like a gigantic caper, but somehow better. Following the cheese plate we had small samples of tuna, roast, scallops, and veal. A variety, and everything was excellent. Dessert was incredible- my significant other had this concoction of layered sorbet, raspberries, and "lime froth" or some such (silly) thing but they knew what they were doing- it was so good! And I got an equally delicious, although completely different, dessert. I'm glad we went with the Chef's Choice & would do it again in a heartbeat! Expensive? Yes. But so worth every penny!!! Additional details: free valet parking; excellent bathrooms (& I'm picky about bathrooms!); not busy on a Thursday night; they serve a "palate cleanser" during your meal and it's citrusy & amazing.

Yelp
Restaurant week + my bday = drunken sloppy dining all week. While we waited for our table, we had some drinks at the bar. Fancy, plenty of seating, and looks like the same drink menu from downstairs...good start...First app was a salad, pancetta, runny egg...say no more, I'll take two...it was fatty and light...like me :)...Wife had the shrimp risotto which was also pretty good...like an Italian fried rice. On top of the restaurant week's apps, I ordered the tuna tartar and shrimp/fish/walnut thing...the fish thing sucked, but the tuna was the bomb diggity...so fresh and so clean. Entrees were salmon and beef tenderloin...beef was super meh. If you see it on menu, ignore the heck out of it...remembered it being bland and very forgettable...Salmon was awesome though. Perfectly cooked (tender and flaky), sweet...Dessert was evil...chocolate/Carmel/salted toffee thing: badass and greek yogurt cream thing: rich and sweet...When we were done...so was my liver.

Yelp
I definitely picked the right time to go here as this place was dead, yet I ended up having a nearly 2-hour dinner. Even while we waited 30 minutes for extremely tardy dinner guests, our food took almost the same interval, and really extended our time there. The first strike against Cosmos was in the disparity of online to actual menus. When you have several picky colleagues, the fact that they cannot get the healthy dish they saw online is quite the drama. Though I'm more flexible, I though there should be at least a reliable online menu. We had to literally read the menu over the phone as people's orders had changed. The second strike was the "all flash, no bang" situation on the actual food. Polling my co-workers revealed about a 3-star average (I know, I'm such a Yelper asking for 1- to 5-star ratings at dinner) on food and generally bland reviews for the high cost. To top it off, the portions are small. Any redeeming qualities? Yes, the interior is really awesome, very modern and trendy. The ambiance was quiet and had the feel of dim-lit cafe, but in 2020. Seemingly, most of the Graves 601 hotel follows this theme, but it's still cool nonetheless. There are a few cool little gimmicks during your stay, trying to be all sophisticated: a tiny fried carrot-and-yogurt treat, melon-and-cherry "shot" (non-alcoholic), and after dinner, some chocolate truffles. These nuances, while interesting, didn't really make up for high prices, small portions, and long waits. Maybe next time, Cosmos.

Yelp
Convenient breakfast if staying at the Loews Hotel. Buffet is ok. They make the eggs in the back. They were fair. OJ is not fresh squeezed. Servers are nice

Yelp
Nice selection for breakfast. Also, the perfect spot to meet up for drinks at beginning or end of evening.

Yelp
After a 10 minute wait for a drink order the waiter Simon found his way to us. We ordered "Minnesota Benedict". Walleye Benedict with fingerling potatoes sautéed in butter and sliced. Tea comes - no cup? Cup comes - no spoon? Potatoes buttery and peppery. Asparagus baked to a charred end. Smokey-not in a good way. Egg poached perfect. Muffin toasted too large for the food. Overwhelming. Walleye subtle with a lovely breading. Hollandaise wonderful. Light, and not overly citrusy. Walleye seasoned feels like a hint of dill as a compliment.

Yelp
A sweet place to get a drink, located in the swank fabulousness that is the Graves Hotel. Supposedly this is also a wonderful restaurant, and if the cheese platter that us gals gorged on was any indication, the food here would be very tasty...it came with a very tasty cinnamon roll bread to use with the cheeses and nuts and it actually worked quite well. Much more fun than just a toasted baguette. My coworker had a breakfast there the next morning and pronounced it the BEST she'd ever had and she's a pretty picky foodie...I'm so bummed I missed out...darn early flight. Since I didn't have more than the cheese platter and a drinkie...I can't give it the full 5 stars but I sure liked it. Maybe next time. Trendy, fun, but not pretentious vibe, the bartender made my chambord vodka mojito absolutely perfect. Grab a fun puffy blue couch for your group and order up.

Yelp
My experience here was for breakfast after a stay at the Graves and my breakfast ended up being comped because of issues at the Graves (for more on that see my Graves review). So with that said, I definitely at least got my money's worth! As I mentioned in my review of the hotel, the little touches were missing for a place this highly revered. Take a look at the faux-wood on the pillars in the middle of the room; there are many placed where this is coming loose and bubbling up. Picky? Yeah, but shouldn't you be in a place like this. The seating was an attempt at uniqueness, but when you really look at the chairs their just cheap, uncomfortable seats. The service was very good and the food was quick. Oddly, for a morning after a sold out night at the hotel, there were only three tables with guests at 10:00 AM on a Sunday. I found this odd. My wife ordered the eggs benedict, which she loved. I had a bite and the hollandaise sauce was rich and delicious. I ordered an omelet and was not impressed at all. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. The same could be said for the potatoes that came with it; not bad, but nothing that I'm going to crave in the future. I was going to give three stars but I truly have had much better food in similar environments. Heck, I've had better breakfasts in chain restaurants! That combined with a less than stellar decor makes it hard to judge a restaurant that is attempting to be this high level any more favorably.

Yelp
You know...it's not much fun when you have to travel for work on your birthday....so...I am going to spoil myself with a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant. Since I am staying at the Graves 601 hotel...Why not enjoy the nice restaurant here. Cosmo is definitely wowed me...great decor-modern, fancy, chic....great food....oooo....the food... Appertizer: (Waguy Beef - Seriously? How can I resist? They were so tender and just melted in your mouth. WOW) Rare Seared Wagyu Beef $18 - Peruvian Potato Salad, Black Truffle Foam, Black Corn, Dwarf Truffle Peaches, Tombori Entree: (Good - Duck Breast was seasoned and cooked well. And I don't think I can ever have any complaints about Foie Gras.) 5 Spice Wild Acres Duck Breast $26 - Mushroom-Duck Confit Cake, Spinach, Orange Jam, Dark Chocolate Demi (side of Hudson Vally Foie Gras $8) Service: ---ehhhh----Spotty....Not sure how to best describe my waiter....He didn't really seem to care much about me or my meal... ---I was expecting that he would explain to me about the dishes when he dropped them off at my table, but he didn't said much and just left the dishes on the table and took off...not exactly what I had in mind for nice restaurant service... ---It took quiet some time for the food after I ordered and in between courses.... ---Water never got refilled until I asked...He stared at my almost empty water at least 3 times... Will definitely come back here again next time I am in town. This is a great date restaurant. They have tasting menu (looks like they change it every couple weeks), pre-theater menu, and chef menu.

Yelp
This is where Magic Happens. The place to put some Snob into your Hob Nob. Perfect place to Pamper your Princess. You feel like you are in an Ice Palace at this Ultra Chic Restaurant in the Ultra Chic Graves Hotel. The Lucite and Glass everywhere gives you the Icy feel but the food will warm you, make your toes tingle, and make you feel like you are celebrating something very special even if you are not. When the check comes,it will reflect that you celebrated too,as this is one of the most expensive delights in town, you may have to put off the kids Tuition, but it is worth every penny for the pleasure it will provide.Be Sure to wear your Glass Slippers, & Your ride will turn into a Pumpkin at Midnight, but all is cool, because the shoe will fit tomorrow. Tiara off my Head & onto yours Cosmos, you are out of this Realm.5 outta 5 Tiara's

Yelp
My soon to be in laws were in town a couple of weeks ago, and were staying at the Graves. We met them at Cosmos for drinks on one night and breakfast the next morning. The drinks were expensive, but worth the splurge on a rare occasion. I had the Moulin Rouge and the Asian Pear Martinis. The Moulin Rouge was good, but the Asian Pear was fantastic. It comes with a little drunken pear at the bottom of it that was quite a tasty way to finish off the drink. I highly recommend that one if you're only got the cash to splurge on a single drink. As for the breakfast, I had their Brioche French Toast because, I'll admit it, with the exception of scrambled eggs I'm a carbs-only breakfast kind of girl. Omelets and breakfast meats don't really do it for me. It was pretty tasty, but somewhat over-the-top sweet. Between the chocolate syrup, the maple syrup, the whipped cream, the powdered sugar AAAAAAAAAAAND the butter, even my sweet tooth was crying out for some relief. After the first piece, I knocked off all the whipped cream and other stuff and just kept it classic with butter and maple syrup or I would have had to run straight to the dentist afterwards... I agree with Char - the apple juice I had was ridiculously overpriced. For what my very kind future in laws paid for it, I hope the apples were not only organic, but also on some sort of endangered species list for fruit... seriously. The wait service was good, though. They're definitely the reason I tipped in favor of four stars instead of three. Both servers were attentive and very helpful with suggestions. Everything came out fast without feeling like we were being rushed.

Yelp
Huge, huge fan. It's a shame that it's tucked away in a hotel in a windowless area on the 4th floor because it deserves more of a presence than what it gets. Don't get me wrong - the space is v. cool. Big tip: they offer seasonal menus that were once $35 but have been reduced to a STEAL at $19.95 (or is it .99? Whatever) due to the economy. You cannot beat this deal...I don't even think their upcoming restaurant week offerings come at this price. What we got for the Fall '09 menu: -an amuse bouche of pureed salsify topped with salmon and a crispy leek. Nice and peppery, rich. Pretty damn autumnal if you ask me. -appetizer selection of lobster bisque or shrimp. We all got the bisque...a little lighter/less creamy than usual, and thankfully not salty at all. Delicious. -palate cleanser that just smacked of some fancy Manhattan Top Chef-esque touch: a limeade "shooter" with a cherry bomb and Pop Rocks topping! -entrées included Atlantic salmon, vegetarian penne dish, and something with pork or other. The salmon was fantastic - the lemon cream sauce was out of this world. -dessert: gelato or sorbet, chocolate gateau, chocolate cake This seasonal menu is not advertised, and I have no idea about its availability, but the price is MADNESS for the quality of food that we got. Oh, can't forget to gush over the bread...the bread is sooo good...the cocktails and wine list are thorough as well. We plan to go back for restaurant week now!

Yelp
I consider myself a 'foodie' and am from the Bay Area where wonderful, high quality restaurants abound. Cosmos can hold a candle to any top notch restaurant in San Francisco. Service was top notch and on time consistently, food was fresh, creative and excellent from beginning to end. The environment was pleasant, not too loud, but loud enough you could have a private conversation, the hostess spaces the patrons apart when possible. Dinner for two, with no limitations was $240 including the tip. Have a nice meal!!

Yelp
Odd that I'd never been here before. Well, I'd been, but I'd never consumed. I was at Envision last night and popped down for a drink since the lines were a little long. I was very happy with my mojito and service. If my head had been more in the game (i.e. it hadn't been about midnight and i hadn't already consumed a few vodka drinks) I would have tried some of the more interesting drinks that I read about in the other reviews here. But being a little slow I just did a "i'll have what she's having". Oh, and to the man who was sitting at the bar near us: I'm sorry for so annoyingly and drunkingly trying to set you up with my friend. I wouldn't have wanted anything to do with us either. ;(

Yelp
The restaurant was pretty empty when we went (a Wednesday night), but it doesn't hurt to make a reservation. The ambiance was soothing, and the staff was polite. Our waiter was quirky but gave us great suggestions and honest opinions. I remember the amuse bouche being fantastic, and the interesting palate cleanser (not sure what it's called) in between the appetizer and entree to be fruity and tasty. I ordered the halibut which was good, not great. The topping was a little too salty. The second time we went, I got the ahi tuna, which was delicious!

Yelp
**Review for drinks only If you want to take a break from the Irish pubs and want to head to a swanky bar, Cosmos at the Graves 601 Hotel (formerly the Le Meridien) is your place. The drawback is that you'll have to pay for the drinks --you're back to LA prices. Cosmos was the last bar we hit up for my brother's birthday, and I love their drink list and fries! I had their rasberry mojito and espressotini. Yum....slurp...buzzzzz.. .zz . . I'll be back!

Yelp
Great Modern Decor(even by NYC standards). Food was absolutely perfect. We had a Tuna tartar (that came with Avocado ice-cream) . Main dishes were delicious and well presented. Excellent wine selection. I was there with the wife for a nice birthday lunch date. Place was almost empty. Service was great.

Yelp
So, I have been to Cosmos on 2 different ends of the spectrum- breakfast and late night drinks. Breakfast: Ok, its pricey. But its delicious, filling, fancy, luxurious, and the service is very attentive. The breakfast scene is pretty sparse, but that can be nice. The servers are quiet, attentive, and keep the coffee coming. There are little jam jars. I always take them. There are little honey pots, I always take them. *Note, I'm not stealing. I'm just...taking the leftovers home, right?* honestly, the food was totally worth the special breakfast date. Drinks: There's spicy snack mix. I've never been to a bar with snack mix. I'm in love. Anyway, I got a sort of gin/lime juice/mint drink. Nothing extreme, but the liquor was strong, the seltzer water was fresh, and the mint was plentiful. It was a really quality drink. Downside? Cubed ice. It waters drinks down. And if the drinks range from $12-$15, I'd expect a large round or square cube like you'd find at Bradstreet, Eat Street, or Marvel Bar. *This is why I give this place 4 stars*

Yelp
Restaurant 3/4 for Restaurant Week. I've been here before and loved my experience, so I had to come back for the deal! Last time I was there, it wasn't as busy so the staff were extremely attentive. This time, it was sporadic service. Last time, my food was great! I loved every course I had -- too bad I can't remember what I had :) It was too long ago. My favorite part of the whole experience are the shooters. The Palate Cleansers are so freaking awesome. I am so curious as to how they make them. I love how they burst in your mouth. For dinner last night, I had Seared Diver Scallops, Beef Tenderloin and the Panna Cotta. The scallops were amazing -- perfectly cooked and seasoned. Presentation was so pretty I didn't want to eat it! My tenderloin wasn't very good at all though. It was extremely dry, I probably wouldn't want to eat it again. Dessert was scrumptious. Texture of the Panna Cotta was so smooth that it just slid down my throat. (I was also excited to learn today that their pastry chef is a local Vietnamese person!) I love the decor in this place. I wouldn't might just sitting there to lounge on a random day. Everything is so intricate yet simple. :) Last experience was a 5, this experience is more of a 3...so averaging my rating out as 4.

Yelp
We stayed at the Graves 601 and had dinner one night while we were there. My husband and I started our evening out in the bar (unfortunately Bradstreet Crafthouse had a private event). Tried their "cosmos martini" and shrimp tempura appetizer (8 large shrimp for $10). Both were outstanding. We were seated in the dining room and had a cozy spot but the restaurant was not very busy that evening. Our meal started out with a special treat from the chef (crab with almond crumbs and apple twist). Also had the grilled romaine with infused croutons. (The dressing was inside each crouton). Before dinner we had another surprise (the apricot infused fennel explosion). For my entree I tried the lobster pasta with broccolini. My husband had the sea bass. Both were excellent although mine could of come out a little hotter. The chef provided truffles to top off our dinner. Service was good. Overall this is a perfect spot for a "special occasion" but I enjoy a more casual dining experience. Also a great spot if you're looking to get a bite to eat in the bar area before or after an event at Target Center or after a baseball game. Keep in mind that this place is upscale.

Yelp
Occasionally The Fiance and I like to dress up, go out and pretend we have money. It usually makes for an interesting night. Anyway, he decided on Cosmos a couple weeks ago and it was really nice. The food (Chicken Sausage Stuffed Chicken and the Duck) was prepared wonderfully. Everything was great, including the famous Chocolate Globe. Although quite pricey, for the Chocolate Fanatic (ME!!) it is well worth it. I don't think I've ever had better quality chocolate in my life...even The Fiance loved we. We kinda fought over it, so you know it was good. Our server was wonderful and attentive and the atmosphere was very cool. Overall, it was a really fun night. I hope to actually stay there someday.

Yelp
I moved here from Indiana and needed a nice place to take my girlfriend for her 21st bday. I was told that comos would be a really nice place for us and a small group of friends to go and get a nice meal. Man was I wrong. When I made the reservation I booked the private V.I.P room for all of us..little did I know that VIP must secretly mean a nicely decorated box that servers seem to forget exists. The whole dinner took over 2 hours and none of us ordered appetizers or dessert. It took the waitress over 20 min to bring us drinks and the restaurant and bar wasnt even busy. The portions were extremely small and the steak I ordered came out luke-warm at best and full of fat. For $130 I thought they could at least give the two of us a filling meal. The only saving grace to this experience was when my girlfriend e-mailed them the next day to complain about her birthday experience they did send us a gift card for $100 in hopes of our return. We did go back- we ended up getting a whole 7 drinks at the bar. I also would like to compliment the forgien man who refilled our waters, he may not have spoke much english but he was the most attentive person in the whole place. Word to the wise, if you stay at the graves 601 (which was wonderful) go someplace else to eat.

Yelp
my first experience was 5 star, this time was a 4. besides the beginning service, everything else flowed well. food came out at a perfect pace which made our dinner experience 2 hours long (didn't feel like it though). we came here for restaurant week so i can't say if our portions were full or maybe 3/4. i saw someone else order tuna tartare and it was presented differently. ah well. onto the menu: amuse bouche. an enjoyable surprise. ahi tuna tartare: the best! fresh and satisfying. crab cake: a-ok; not the best i've had. palate cleanser (can't remember if that was before or after our entree) that bursts in your mouth for a fun treat. chilean sea bass: not much to say besides the cauliflower "risotto" was better than i had expected. (i don't like cauliflower) tenderloin: grilled perfectly! truffle pommes paille were the best ever!!! chocolate cake with ice cream: double treat is always great creme brulee: burnt with enough taste with no burnt taste.. complimentary chocolate truffles: who doesn't like chocolate? overall, the experience was wonderful and i'd go back again if someone wanted to go. if you could request a server, i'd ask for the older gentleman with glasses and gray/black hair. he seemed to be engaged with his customers unlike our waiter. he barely came around and he didn't even come by to ask if we wanted another glass of wine! we were not at all particular with anything and didn't even ask for anything extra (except for a steak knife) so we were easy dining patrons :)
