Tony Messina Is Opening Costa Covo Osteria Inside L’Ermitage Beverly Hills | Eater LA

"Inside L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, Costa Covo Osteria is a new coastal Italian set to open on September 4 where Chef Tony Messina led the creative direction of a menu that will focus on crudos, cacciucco (seafood stew), and handmade pastas paired with Italian and French wines; although Messina shaped the menu, he will not be cooking there nightly." - Cathy Chaplin

We came here for Easter Brunch. The ambiance and service was good but the food was disappointing. My Dad got the Salmon Benedict and liked his. My Mum and I got the Costa Breakfast which was tasteless. It was a simple dish but I don’t think the Eggs had even a drop of seasoning on it. The potatoes looked like there was seasoning on the skin but once you bit into them no flavor. The sausages were chunky and okay. The service was attentive but we were surprised when the server added 20 percent automatic gratuity to the bill. We questioned it as that charge is normally only added for 6 people or more (only 3 of us were in the party) and asked for it to be removed. Gratuity is voluntary and at the customers discretion. The restaurant staff who answer the phone never informed us nor did the Resy reservation state there was an automatic gratuity added. This underhanded tactic left a bad taste in our mouth especially when the food already was poor quality. This restaurant needs to work on being more transparent with customers and the Chef needs lessons in cooking more flavorful food.

Myself and 3 of my girlfriends came to dine at Costa Covo for the first time last week. I had previously been to L’ Ermitage prior to the renovation and was pleasantly surprised at how bright and airy the new space is. We were warmly greeted by the host and sat at one of their large, cozy booths. The cocktails were delicious and the food was excellent. The octopus was perfectly cooked and had amazing flavor. The pastas were fresh and desserts were to die for. The Chef came out as well to say hello which was a lovely touch. Cannot wait to come back again. I highly recommend this new spot in Bev Hills!

We had a great dinner at Costa Covo Osteria to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. The vibes are immaculate inside. Interior design is well thought out. The music was on point all night, shout out to whoever made the playlist. We started with champagne and two cocktails, the “Golden Glow” and the “Slow Dance,” which were both excellent. For appetizers, we had crudo and oysters. Everything tasted very fresh and was a great way to start the meal. The seafood was so good it inspired us to stick with seafood for the rest of the night. For our mains, we had the branzino and lobster pasta. The branzino was cooked perfectly and came with a creamy sauce that we finished completely. The lobster pasta was also delicious and very satisfying. We also tried the artichoke hearts with aioli, which were light but flavorful—a nice side dish. For dessert, we had affogato and an espresso martini, which were a great way to end the meal. LP and Max provided great service, and we really appreciated the chef’s work. We’ll definitely be back!

The food was terrible. We had a NYE menu for 275$+tax+service charge (in total 400€ each person) for literally one soup, one piece of halibut, a few slices of meat covered by a terrible sauce and an awful dessert. At least the waiters were nice… Impossible that this is a Michelin restaurant.
