Costa Sur Wok & Ceviche Bar

Costa Sur is a great addition to Corpus Christi if you’re craving something outside the usual Tex-Mex or seafood scene. The food we had was genuinely tasty and felt very true to Peruvian flavors. We ordered the Peruvian ceviche, lomo saltado, firecracker shrimp, and chocolate cake — everything was well prepared and flavorful, especially the lomo saltado, which had that perfect mix of savory and comforting. The one disappointment was that they had run out of sweet potatoes for the ceviche. If you know Peruvian food, you know how important the sweet potato is to balance the citrus and heat, so that took a little away from what otherwise would have been an excellent dish. I’d also love to see yucca fries added to the menu — they’re a classic Peruvian staple and would be an amazing side here. Service deserves a huge shout-out. There was only one server working the floor and she was absolutely hustling while still staying upbeat, attentive, and friendly. She really carried the experience and made us feel well taken care of despite being stretched thin. Overall, it was a really nice experience and I’d definitely come back. With just a few tweaks to the menu and keeping those traditional elements in stock, this place could easily become one of the best spots in Corpus for something different and authentic.

This fusion on Peruvian and seafood was amazing! It’s been our favorite meal on our vacation. The recommendation came to us by our Padre Boat Tour Captain Jeff. The scallop appetizer was savory and fresh, the perfect combination. The Tuna was citrus light and fresh, the fajita meats were seasoned and slow cooked or grilled to perfection. The Peruvian Chocolate Cake was a show stopper! I can’t recommend this place enough!

Google
Great menu unique to the area. Not your typical fried seafood. Fresh and flavorful here. We sat at the bar and the entire staff was great. We started with some fresh Ceviche then had Coconut Curry Shrimp and Coconut Basil Chicken Fried Rice. All dishes were AMAZING! We will be stopping here every time we're in the area.

Google
I cannot believe this only has 4.3 stars?? I lovvveddd this place. Food: Obsessed. The fish is so fresh. If you sit at the bar you can watch the owner (from Peru) filleting and cooking. The flavor combos were unique and interesting. We got the grilled shrimp tacos, the tuna nachos, and the combo ceviche with the fried seafood. AMAZING. The ceviche had dried corn which almost had a pine nut quality which was an amazing combo with the flounder, mango, and the slightly spicy peppers. Highly recommend. The fried batter was not your typical batter but in a good way. My husband described it as “scrumptious.” (He is an avid seafood connoisseur and that is high praise.) Service: Our server had clearly been working there for quite some time. She was accommodating, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The owner even waved and wished us a good day on our way out. Atmosphere: It’s a hip bar type place. We went for lunch and it was quiet. But I’m sure it gets loud in the evenings. I thought it was so cute and hip looking. Overall: As a foodie, I would highly recommend this place. I will be back again.

This was the most delicious food and drinks I’ve had in a while.fresh fish, delicious flavors, and beautiful presentation. If you aren’t in a rush, this is place to go. Slightly Understaffed but still friendly service

Alright guys, Im a HUGE fan of this place and I have had MANY great meals there...BUT they did us dirty last Saturday 🤣 . Walked in on a packed house and were seated on the patio, we were the only ones out there. 30 minutes passed (an entire game of Jenga) and no one came to take our orders... I went back to the host and reinvested, told us he have someone right there. 15 more minutes pass, and a waiter, who very obviously had been taking the edge off a bit at this point appeared took our drink order and we put in an order ceveich. The waiter returned with waters and disappeared again for about 20minutes... then he returned and asked if we were ready to order, I said Id like to have my drinks and my apps first, and reminded him id been there for over an hour now and I still havent gotten my bar order...or the apps. He said the bar was backed up and they be out shortly asked us again if we wanted anything else. At this point I hadnt received anything, so I decided I give him 15 minutes to come back with the drinks and app (a total of an hour and 15 since we walked through the door) 15 minutes came and went and we left at nearly 9pm on a Saturday without receiving any service... very disappointing. I love that place, and Im gonna assume they were doing really well with everyone else, just not us that night. 😑

Google
Their prices match the quality in my opinion. My friends and I enjoyed the lively atmosphere, we could see the bar and kitchen from where we were seated, and our service was amazing. Our table really enjoyed the Cucumber Poke bites even though my friend thought she was ordering something completely different from the last time she was here. She was quite happy with what we got and they were very fresh. We all enjoyed our meals, pictured and captioned below!

This guy bought the house on the corner of me, and for the last 4 1/2 years has ruined my mental health with his loud dogs vicious nonstop barking. Ruined our 20th wedding anniversary last year, and ruined our 21st wedding anniversary yesterday, the 28th. I begged this man nicely and kindly the first 1 1/2 years it went on for it to stop. He completely ignored me. I’ve also eaten at this place before the barking started in summer of 21, and my fried rice was greasy and scallops very rubbery. Much better places to eat on the island and Port A and give your business to that are actually decent human beings and not horrid disrespectful people. My own dog is terrified and runs in the house and pees everywhere when his vicious dog starts up. He’s ruined my life!!! Do not eat here! Horrible human being! Dog is still barking!

Yelp
The fresh tuna was amazing. Poke bowl and poke cucumber bites both had amazing fresh flavor. Lobster roll was packed with meat and delicious. Avoid the firecracker shrimp. Soooo salty and over fried couldn't even eat them. Everything else was amazing.

Paula S.

Yelp
I heard it was good and I wanted to love it. Our server was friendly and mostly attentive. He gets the only stars. No stars for the kitchen though. Our entrees took 1 1/2 hours to come out of the kitchen! And when they did, they were delivered one plate at a time with an inexcusably long wait in between each plate. The curry shrimp was good, the mahi mahi was good and the ceviche was good. The tuna nachos were so salty, they were terrible and would have been sent back, but after waiting so long to get them, it wasn't worth it. Maybe it was a just a bad night.

Yelp
The menu I varied from Bison Burger to the Fresh Catch of the Day. My choice was the bison burger, three pickle slices, French fries.was it a greasy mess--no it was not. For one thing bison is a leaner meat, and I will use the bad word "healthier." When the meal was presented on a plate it was a thing of beauty. On the plate were the burger and fries. The bison burger contained fresh buns, special sauce, bison burger, cheese melted over burger,, bacon strips over the cheese, more special sauce added to the bottom of the top bun. It looked massive when presented. The hot French fries were in a metal cup. I really really enjoyed the flavors. The staff are very good at their job making sure no one is wanting. I will be back to taste other items on their menu. I ate everything on the plate except the metal cup and plate, it was so good. ,

Yelp
The best food in town. Hands down. The dinner plates "Pescado Saltado, Pescado a la Panca, and the Peruvian Poke" are hard to beat. Another Peruvian staple, the "Lomo Saltado beef sirloin and rice plate" is hard to argue against as well. There's nothing served like it anywhere in Corpus. They have a large menu with fantastic appetizers, sandwiches, burgers/wings, tacos, dessert options, and other great weekly specials. Great drinks, multiple TVs, outside covered porch, and fun atmosphere.

Yelp
One of our island's greatest little gems. We love costa sur. The food is always delicious and the drinks are on point!! It does get busy (especially during high season), so sometimes it takes a bit but we run on island time out here, so if you're in a hurry, it probably won't happen. Definitely recommend it.

Yelp
Went for the first time and I wish I had gone sooner! The service was great from start to finish. I had the tuna nachos and they were fantastic!

Yelp
This place came highly recommended by friends and locals. I can see why. We got to the restaurant right after it opened so it was pretty empty. We ordered some appetizers which consisted of the firecracker shrimp (my absolute favorite), tuna nachos (loved it!) and the ceviche fusion (I enjoyed the coconut milk that was part of the sauce). In all honesty, we should have stopped there. It was a lot of food but because we liked them so much, we decided to order some entrees which by we ended up having to take majority of what was left as 'to go'. We asked our waitperson to introduce us to the chef and owner. He came to our table which gave us an opportunity to let him know how much we enjoyed our food. Apparently, they do pop ups on occasion and luckily, they make it to San Antonio every once in once in a while. I'm now following Costa Sur on FB because I want more of what they have to offer. They take pride in their food and it shows.

Loryn C.

Yelp
Best tuna nachos EVER! Adam, the bartender, is so attentive. Recommend if you're looking for something local.
google avatar

Amber A.

Yelp
Service is TRASH! We waited 15 minutes to be seated. The while our waiter didn't clean off tables, he mingled with other patrons, didn't wait on them, literally just mingled. Once we were seated, our waiter couldn't bring out enough cutlery or drinks or menus for everyone. It took six trips! Three of our meals took 45 minutes and the last I r took over ONE HOUR. Service is absolute trash. Total joke!
google avatar

Monica G.

Yelp
We enjoyed this food so much that we came by twice and got more folks to join us the next day! Everything is really so fresh and tasted so so good. We heard of this place from people in San Antonio, so we knew we had to try it out once a local directed us here as well. We liked the ambiance. The food was, of course, delicious and had decent service. If I make my way back to corpus, I'm sure I'll stop in again for that jumbo sized shrimp!

Peter R.

Yelp
Excellent food!!! We had Ceviche and a plate of scallops which were very tasty. Both meals exceeded our expectations. Wait staff was very attentive, even though there was a large party requiring their attention. Place is not really setup to handle parties of 10 or more due to size constraints. Very definitely recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Ana M.

Yelp
The food is simple scrumptious and service was excellent. I had limo Saltado so tender. Ana
google avatar

Alisha M.

Yelp
We had the ceviche fusion, guacamole, and shrimp curry. Everything was great and really loved the fusion ceviche with wahoo. The wait was a little disorganized but they took great care of us in the end. We will definitely come again.
google avatar

Pamela O.

Yelp
I typically love this place, but tonight my boyfriend and I waited for an hour from 8-9 pm for our meals to arrive. For a Tuesday night, this is unacceptable.

Rick M.

Yelp
Great service again by Skyler !! This is one of our go to places on the island. The food is always good and service is great which is hard to find these days . They will cook your fish that you catch which is a plus for us as we do not have to cook at home. Another good outing at Costa Sur !!
google avatar

Ketan S.

Yelp
Dont forget to Check in here - Yelp gives a 10% off coupon! We were a party of 3 for lunch and found this Peruvian place which looked to have good tasty food. We went in and the ambiance was very good. It's all black in the inside, roof and walls with good lighting. We ordered Firecracker Shrimp and Tuna nachos for Appetizer and they were both very delicious! Then we ordered Coconut Basil Chicken fried rice and Pescado Saltado. All of the food was very good! Service was great too! Would definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Yelp
Unique plates, outdoor seating, service was okay, I will be back. I rarely give 5 stars, but this place makes a fancy city plate of food on a tropical island..and I cannot wait to return...
google avatar

Patty S.

Yelp
A local took us here. We were blown away by the drinks and the Top notch Ceviche! Great staff service. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Grettel K.

Yelp
My fiance and I decided to try this place out on date night. At first we were a little discouraged on the wait time for a table since it was on a Saturday night but man was the food worth the wait! We ordered the arroz chaufa (peruvian fried rice) and ceviche mixto (mixed ceviche) which was plenty for 2 people. This is the closest restaurant we have found that offers authentic Peruvian ceviche which left our palate watering since our last trip to Lima and that actually uses the limo peppers for their dishes. Thank you it was a great experience since we live in San Antonio. We will definitely be back on our next drive to CC.
google avatar

Raquel D.

Yelp
The food is definitely a 5, but I always prefer not to eat in restaurants that are also bars. We loved the ceviche, the quinoa salad and pork sandwich. I put a 4 star, but that is in no way taking away from the extremely clean and friendly environment. The ingredients were super fresh. I'll order takeout next time because the food was great.
google avatar

Stephen T.

Yelp
Came here and the food toook forever to get out to the table. My eyes were watering from the lack of ventilation from this place. They got smoke lingering. The quality of the food was freaking amazing. Like really good... However the service from the wait staff was horrible. Table turn over is a thing. Get people in feed them and cash them out and open a table for the next set of people. Which is important for a restaurant to make money. Had people waiting forever for a table cause the wait staff was lacking.

Taylor R.

Yelp
order the coconut margarita then add a pink drink from Starbucks. Delicious 100/10 . Cute outside bar and patio setting. The service is very quick and they are very accurate.
google avatar

Tina D.

Yelp
Great food. Tuna nachos had great flavor. Ordered the coconut shrimp curry. Will be back
google avatar

Ellen E.

Yelp
Wow this place was amazing. My server was extremely helpful and made recommendations and answered all the questions I had. I was torn between probably four choices and he recommended the tuna nachos with the oyster sauce on the side and they were delicious and a large serving for the price. I also tried two local nueces beers which were both very tasty. Great service, really cool Peruvian vibes, and amazing food. Definitely recommend next time you're in the area!
google avatar

Brad L.

Yelp
Super impressed with the seafood here and would come back again and again every time I'm in Padre Island. Never had tuna nachos before and would highly recommend for an appetizer. It was enough to start for 4-5 people. I had also had the shrimp n chips and it was deep fried shrimp that was huge and could tell that it was super fresh when I bit into them. Super filling and will order it again. I'm not lying, that it was some of the best shrimp I've ever had. Our buddy had the Peruvian poke and had a couple bites of that and was very good. This place was recommended by locals for seafood and glad we followed their advice.

Barron H.

Yelp
Great fresh food. Excellent service. Only negative is that stinking parking lot is so small sometimes we can't find a place to park.
google avatar

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Wow! What happened here?!? I've never had Peruvian food so I can't stay if it's authentic or not, but this is some seriously intense, flavorful food. We had the Arroz Chaufa and Pescado Saltado. Both had familiar flavors (like fried rice and coconut curry fish) but with unique citrusy undertones. We had to force ourselves to stop eating because we were getting full! Generous servings, good prices. Noah, our waiter/bartender was soft spoken and professional. He makes a mean mojito! Travis and JT in the kitchen put out amazing food. The regulars at the restaurant suggest starting with the ceviche... which they say is the best anywhere. Can't wait to go back!

Joe T.

Yelp
It was our first visit to this establishment, recommended by our son. This place seems suitable for small groups of two to four people. However, we were part of a group of 14 and had a disappointing experience. We waited over an hour just to receive our appetizers, followed by another 45 minutes for our meals, which were served 10 to 15 minutes apart. Some members of our group didn't even get their food. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. There were 47 customers and only two waitresses, who were clearly trying their best but were overwhelmed due to overbooking.
google avatar

Alejandra D.

Yelp
Wow! I was so surprised to find this place really has authentic ceviche I lived in Lima when I was little and my honeymoon was in Lima, Peruvian food is to me the world's best cuisine and this place did not disappoint! The ceviche was perfect, the scallops with Parmesan were delicious and the alfajor for dessert was so good, felt very homey I loved it and we will definitely be back. The waitress ( I think her name was Kim) was so nice and attentive what a wonderful lady!
google avatar

Kristal B.

Yelp
My husband and I live in Austin but we love to escape and live on island time every now & then. Costa Sur is one of our usual spots because the food is to die for. We always get the ceviche fusion which is so fresh & bright. It's served with your choice of whatever fish is available that day; it never disappoints. Our server was very open about the wait time for food due to the number of people already seated, which was much appreciated. We started with the Spicy Margaritas which were larger than expected which was a nice surprise. The firecracker shrimp are fried to perfection & have such a beautiful bite to them thanks to the Serrano peppers! We ventured this time & instead of getting our usual fish tacos, we ordered entrees. The Angus filet was prepared to a perfect medium as requested, was flavorful, juicy & complimented by the chimichurri sauce. The Coconut Curry Shrimp was absolutely divine. The sauce was so creamy & the side of rice is the perfect vehicle to soak it up! If you are ever in town please don't think twice about this spot! This place is so vibey, it could work for a romantic date night or a gathering place for cocktails & bites after the beach! Kudos to the kitchen staff for keeping such a high standard for cuisine & also the staff for being so friendly.

Cliff F.

Yelp
This place is great. We have been here many times and the service and food is great. We just moved from San Diego and this is the Best Guacamole!

Karen K.

Yelp
Food: For appetizers we order the cucumber poke bites - amazing, the fire cracker shrimp - not too hot, just right, and the Peruvian poke with chips on the side - perfect. More than enough for three people. Our waitress, Andie, was amazing and attentive. Easy place to have conversations. Will absolutely go again!
google avatar

Debbie B.

Yelp
The food is always fresh perfection! Service sometimes slow but for most part pleasant dining experience! A lot of deliciousness great neighbors
google avatar

Altovise L.

Yelp
We got food to go so I can't comment on the service. As someone already stated it looks like a hole in the wall bar. Don't let that stop you. The food is delicious. I ordered the ceviche peruano with the whitefish. My other friend girl had the ceviche peruano with tuna. Both were amazing. The desserts are great too.
google avatar

Erica V.

Yelp
I took a quick getaway trip from San Antonio to Corpus for a few days and stumbled upon this hidden gem. All I can say is... wow!! It has a small town sort of vibe. The service was incredible - shout out to Kilee who gave us some awesome recommendations! The food was absolutely incredible - the fish was so fresh. We went with the fish tacos, pork belly steamed buns and, of course, had to try a ceviche! I washed it all down with a coconut margarita and it was all heavenly! If you haven't been to Costa Sur and find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and check it out!
google avatar

Stacie B.

Yelp
Delicious food!!! The ceviche was excellent and reminded me of visiting South America! We also had the snapper!

Justin M.

Yelp
This place is more of a bar atmosphere. Very loud and small with very few tables. Not really kid friendly. We ordered fried fish n chips and fried shrimp n chips. Needless to say the fries were the only things that had descent flavor to them. Tartar sauce was our friend for flavor in this meal. Our bill with tip was $45.00.
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
The best restaurant in Corpus Christi, should be in the top 5 in Texas. Unbelievable quality and selection not a heat and eat restaurant fresh fresh specialties daily. Never a bad experience.
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
I love, love, love Costa Sur! The fusion ceviche is incredible! The coconut curry shrimp is fabulous, the Pescado a la Panca ahhmazing, pretty much everything I have had here was fantastic! The service is good, these bartenders and waitstaff work their tails off, so be patient, it is worth it! The Pisco sour is the perfect drink!
google avatar

Ted F.

Yelp
Best peruvian food in Texas! I got Leche de Tigre a lo macho, Ceviche Mixto and peruvian style Key lime pie. The food was so delicious and I am planning on going back every time I am in Corpus Christi. My husband got the house salad and it was amazing as well.
google avatar

Paul Z.

Yelp
Fun casual evening after a walk on the beach! Food was great and the Pisco Sour was so good I needed a second. Shea is an amazing host, bartender, waitress, and server. She does it all and never seemed stressed. We had different meals and all were perfectly prepared. The tuna nachos were a great way to start the evening. The DJ entertainment was an extra!
google avatar

Andrew K.

Yelp
Have eaten here many times and normally good experience. Love the tuna nachos, chaufa, ceviche etc but I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT ORDER the Tallareen Saltado or Peruvian lo mein. It was one of the worst things I've had anywhere. Boxed linguini tossed with a few veggies and pieces of chicken. Pretty much inedibly bland and a waste of $15.
google avatar

Emily P.

Yelp
Great Ceviche and service! A must try on the island! They also have a bar if you are feeling like a drink. My favorite was the tuna nachos.
google avatar

Arielle G.

Yelp
Great tuna ceviche and wok-fried rice. The server/bartender was super attentive and makes delicious caipirinhas. Looking forward to coming back!
google avatar

Jon C.

Yelp
It was my girlfriend's birthday we stopped in to get some lunch and drinks. They had some decent drinks. The food on the other hand was to say the least just disappointing. We ordered ceviche first thing with the mahi-mahi the chunks of fish were about an inch thick and didn't have enough lime so they were very raw and towered in the middle of the plate with barely any of the other ingredients. I ordered a sandwich and she got the fish and chips, both were barely worth more than two bites.
google avatar

Joel P.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. It's not the normal Mexican-style ceviche you'll find on the island. Their tuna nachos are insane! Give it a shot you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Taylor D.

Yelp
We stopped here while vacationing in the Corpus Christi/Padre Island area! We had our two big pups with us so we decided to sit on the patio. The only issue we had was that the patio was very tiny and hard for us to navigate as there was another dog blocking entry way. However, once we got adjusted everything was comfortable! We enjoyed the leche de Tigre which was a great hangover cure, super citrusy and topped with friend squid and shrimp! It was delicious to sip in the drink! For an appetizer we ordered the Ceviche Mixto, although there was a mess up with our order so we ended up just having the Ceviche Fusión and adding the mango and avocado toppings. THE CEVICHE "BROTH" WAS INCREDIBLE. I ended up just dipping the chips in this once we finished our fish of the day in the ceviche! For our main course we enjoyed the Coconut Shrimp Curry which was apparently the Seafood War Battle of the Champs Winning Dish? My boyfriend and I had never heard of this so we did some googling. The curry sauce was amazing, the perfect ratio of sweet to spicy flavor, and poured over the whole dish. We shared the meal and it was the perfect snack before a day on the beach! Our pups even enjoyed some fried rice with chicken...of course...they approve!

Kate T.

Yelp
Waited about an hour to get the food out on our table. They rejected the 10% coupon, because the owner wasn't at the restaurant? That's not customer's business in my opinion. Why even on the yelp app? Customers do not want to be treated this way. Would not come here again!!

Jasmine S.

Yelp
Right Off the bat with a roach on my drink. Gave me the ick did not want to eat the food. Partner wanted to order so we did still. Had the Lomo Saltado did not eat it, did not smell good. We paid full price but left without touching food or drink. Dirty place.
