I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Costco Tire Center in Sterling, VA. The wait times were excessive on both visits, and the front desk staff was curt and unhelpful.
On my first visit, the technicians claimed they couldn’t complete the tire installation due to a cross-threaded bolt. I took the car to my regular mechanic—whom I’ve trusted for over a decade with multiple vehicles—and they replaced the bolt without issue.
When I returned to Costco, I waited another two hours only to be told a different bolt was now cross-threaded. This time, the staff first blamed the issue on my vehicle being a Subaru (despite my never encountering this problem across three Subarus), and then implied that my long-time mechanic was at fault.
The lack of accountability and the deflection of blame were completely unacceptable. I’ve never had any issues with my trusted shop, yet the first and only time I used Costco’s tire center, problems began immediately.
I cannot recommend this location based on the poor service, technical inexperience, and unprofessional behavior I encountered.
