Recent Listeria Outbreaks, Explained | Eater

"Shoppers at a large membership-based warehouse retailer were informed in late October 2024 that a private-label smoked-salmon product was being recalled for potential listeria contamination after the supplier flagged the issue, leading to product removal and customer notifications." - Jaya Saxena

I’ve been a Costco member for quite some time, and I have to say this location stands out as one of the very best in the country. Every visit has been consistent in terms of service, quality, and atmosphere, but what truly makes the difference here are the people. I especially want to take a moment to highlight Taylor at the membership desk. In all my years of doing business, I can honestly say Taylor is one of the best supervisors I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. From the moment I walked in, Taylor greeted me with professionalism, kindness, and patience. Instead of just treating me like another transaction, Taylor took the time to explain my options, answer questions thoroughly, and make sure I felt confident about my membership. That kind of personalized attention is rare these days, and it made me feel genuinely valued as a customer. Taylor’s leadership style also shows in the way the team operates. There’s a sense of order, efficiency, and friendliness at this location that reflects great supervision. It’s clear that Taylor not only knows the business but also cares deeply about the members and staff alike. On top of that, this Costco as a whole is incredibly well-run. The store is always clean, well-stocked, and organized, making shopping a breeze even on the busiest days. The selection is unbeatable, the quality is consistent, and the value speaks for itself. But for me, what makes this Costco one of the best in the country is the way it combines all those strengths with an exceptional level of customer service. Thank you to Taylor and the entire team for going above and beyond. Experiences like this are exactly why I continue to be such a loyal Costco member

Would like to shout out the team in the tire shop. I've used them twice now and both times they have been kind, understanding, efficient, and damn good at their jobs. I thought I would have to buy 2 new tires for a brand new car, but they were able to patch the hole and saved me about $600. I'll definitely return to them for all tire repair as long as possible. They were my heroes that day and I wish I could give them all raises!

It is generally great in terms of a normal Costco, but their meat department really bugs me. They don’t keep the popular stuff well stocked and often cut the steaks in portions not conducive to spread across meals (much of the point of buying in bulk). This is literally the only Costco this has been an issue for me at, it’s a shame because I like it beyond that, hence why I’m not rating it lower, but beyond maybe gas, I don’t see myself returning because of it. There are other Costcos in the area.

This review is for the cafe. Actually sitting here eating my pizza now. We went in, ordered at the kiosk, and waited for our food. As we were standing here waiting, they put out two slices of pizza for someone and called their number. Those slices sat there for a long time (the person never came to pick up their food), and as they were sitting there, an old man walked up, leaned directly over the pizzas and talked to the cafe employee behind them. He was breathing and coughing all over them. I thought, "Thank god that isn't our food," and then they called out our number and slid one of those slices (again, meant for someone else) toward us. So I felt a bit put off by that and I really didn't want that slice of pizza. I asked for a new one. To their credit, the Costco employee did sub in a new slice for me, even though she thought it made no sense. I am immunocompromised so it was a big deal to me to not have compromised food. So yeah. Credit where credit is due: the cafe workers are wonderful at their job and at customer service. They are quick, and the food is always on point. And they are accommodating in the face of issues. I am grateful to them.

Very negative experience with Costco’s policy of using parents’ membership card. Mom hurt her leg and couldn’t shop, so I went to Costco with her card but was rejected at the front because I’m not the name on the card (it’s my parents…that’s literally family). Luckily we were able to sort it out with the manager Jennifer. Jennifer was super nice and empathetic, understood the situation, and gave us an exception to let us in. She’s great and was the one positive experience in the overall negative experience. Can Costco seriously not let children use their parent’s membership? Are they really losing that much money from that?? Costco needs to review this policy change. But at least the food court was pretty good.

Called this location to get information about a membership and product availability. I was apparently being an inconvenience to the manager and member service director. Decided to get a membership with a different company. A note for the CEO: I am a nice customer. You all know me. I’m the one who never complains, no matter what kind of service I get. I’ll go into a store and wait quietly while the girls behind the counter gossip and never bother to ask if anyone has attended to me. Sometimes someone that came after I did gets attended to before me, but I don’t complain, I just wait. And when I go to a store to buy something, I don’t throw my weight around. I try to be thoughtful of the other person. If a snooty sales lady gets upset because I want to look at several things before making up my mind, I’m just as polite as can be. I don’t believe rudeness in return is the answer. The other day I went to an eatery and waited for almost five minutes before anyone came to take my order. And when she came, no apology was made for keeping me waiting, my meal was served cold and a serviette was not available. But did I complain about the service? Of course not! I never kick. I never nag. I never criticise. And I wouldn’t dream of making a scene, as I’ve seen some people do in public places. I think that’s uncalled for. No, I’m the nice customer . And I’ll tell you who else I am. "I’m the customer who never comes back!" When I get pushed too far, I just take my business down the street to places where they’ re smart enough to hire and train people who appreciate nice customers. And the world is filled with nice customers, just like me, who can put anyone out of business. I laugh when I see you frantically spending your money on expensive advertising to get me back, when you could have kept me with a few kind words, a smile, and some good service. I don’t care what business you are in, may be you live in a different city; maybe I’ve never heard of you. But if sales are going down, your people are finding it difficult to meet their sales target or your competitor is getting the larger chunk of the deal, maybe there are enough people like me who do know you. I’m your once customer, who never comes back! Sincerely, - Your Nice Customer

The customer service at the checkout line today was horrible! I understand we all have bad days but DANG... don't take it out on your customers! SO RUDE!!!!! My receipt says her name is Rebecca S. Costco used to have excellent customer service but I guess that's not a thing anymore 😕

Been a member for years but will not be renewing this year. So many issues lately!! Like the new executive member hours with hordes of people blocking the doors, rude employees, RAW rotisserie chicken that had to be cooked an additonal hour when I got home with it, lack of checkouts open on weekend mornings... things have gone way downhill at this location and its no longer worth the price of membership. Will stick with Sam's.
