The Best Way to Snack Before Thanksgiving Dinner | Eater

"A membership-based bulk warehouse where you can buy pre-baked, shelled chestnuts sold in large packages — a convenient, ready-to-eat option that’s easy to stash for holiday snacking. The author recommends incorporating these chestnuts into a simple spread (alongside olives, toasted Marcona almonds, and fruit) because they feel festive, require no extra prep, store well, and can double as an ingredient in salads or side dishes later on." - Elazar Sontag

Free Samples Are Returning to Some Grocery Stores With New Rules | Eater

"After pausing in-store sampling early in the pandemic, the retailer announced a phased return of demos in late May, prompting other stores to consider reinstating trials; some locations now operate with outfitted carts and plastic barriers or offer prepackaged “dry” samples to reduce contact. The move both signaled possible industrywide changes in demo formats and raised questions about cost and profitability for companies running safer, low-contact sampling programs." - Nick Mancall-Bitel

🤗🤸🏾‍♀️Outstanding Delivery Experience🤸🏾‍♀️🤗 Alright, here’s the vibe: Fernando and Marcos rolled up basically at the speed of light—they were at my door in the first 20 minutes of the delivery window. Talk about punctuality goals. They treated my new fridge and washer/dryer combo like it was top-tier treasure. Seriously, they unwrapped everything with so much care you’d think they were handling newborn kittens. They didn’t just drop the stuff and peace out. Nope. They stuck around, made sure everything was working like a charm, and then hit me up with some pro tips on how to keep these appliances in tip-top shape for the long haul. Basically, they made sure I was set up for success. In other words, Fernando and Marcos didn’t just deliver appliances—they delivered a whole experience. And yeah, I’m being a little poetic here, but they earned it. So props to them for making the whole thing smooth, easy, and just a bit futuristic in how good the service was.

Google
Costco is a good store with a variety of clothing, food, tires and electronics. There's plenty of parking. Their food court is very good. Their employees are professional and friendly.

Lulu

Google
We visited this Costco while in California, and it was a little different from what I'm used to back home in Dallas. The layout threw me off a bit—produce and dairy are located in different areas than I expected. One big difference is that this location doesn’t have self-checkout, which I really missed. I’m only visiting, but I definitely prefer our Costco in Dallas where the self-checkout option makes the lines move much faster. Still, it was a typical Costco experience overall—busy but well-stocked.

Victor G.

Google
The worse costco ever that's why they don't have produce employee they don't no about produce really poor quality and service.

Ogy R.

Google
Costco always has great deals! This location has a small parking lot though. Be careful in the weekends it gets busy quick.

Every time I come to Costco here everyone is rude. It’s always a female. They’re not friendly. The customer service isn’t good and I hate it over here. All I wanted to ask was a simple question and she got a attitude and told me to take a number and the time she took me to take a number she could’ve just answered my questionas she was walking past

BLESSING I.

Google
Always an exp to be shopping in costco. Insane crowd

Jonathan S.

Google
I’m up next to pay for groceries. The cashier all of a sudden tells me they’re closed and I have to go to another line me and the person behind me goes to another line, but then the cashier stays open and finishes everybody in the line. Well, I’m still waiting in line when I asked the supervisor was going on. He tells me he just got on the clock and he can’t do anything and doesn’t attempt to find out what’s going on or attempt to help us. This happened at 12 PM today. Probably the worst experience I had at this Costco yet. I hope it wasn’t race related.

Yelp
Stopped into Costco and the place had a great flow that day. Sometimes Costco can feel packed, but the aisles moved smoothly and the prices were strong. I was able to pick up some good things for the holidays before the crowds got heavy. The checkout lines were quick and the staff handled everything with ease. This was one of the smoother Costco runs I have had in a while. Four stars for a solid experience.

Yelp
I've been a member at Costco for over 10 years, most of the time I shop at Torrance Costco. A year ago, I was asked to show my membership card at the self-checkout stand, which I did, but the lady at self-checkout was not happy that I did not handover my card directly into her hand, I didn't want anyone touching my card "why" covid. She was so upset about that every time i shop at Costco of Torrance she and her gang of employees keep harassing and try to intimidate me by running at me well I'm shopping, when exiting the employee checking receipts accuses me of not paying for one or two items. Please I need help from Costco management please reach out to me. Thank you

Mary R.

Yelp
Store's busy and access is at first confusing but this location is nicely stocked and the customers progress through checkout at a decent rate
google avatar

Yelp
The rotisserie chicken was not cooked properly. This used to be one of my favorites things to buy from this place but this time it let me down. I had to put it in the oven when I got home to make sure it's cooked all the way.
google avatar

Yelp
Tasia @ the food court. Food service is so overwhelming and Costco is so busy. You took care of me. Thank you

Micheal N.

Yelp
Everyone must check your order at Window. Costco at Century is very different than any other one which never had this experience until Today November 9 on Sunday ordered Paperoni pizza unfortunately it looks like someone in side was hungry and eaten part of it. Hope the manager pay attention to them ???
google avatar

Chayan D.

Yelp
Return policies are fair, which is well appreciated. Staff are kind and willing to help when asked. Even in the time of an egg shortage. The lines are VERY long to get eggs. I do appreciate staff coming out to notify everyone that the long line is for eggs only. All other customers are to enter the store and skip the line. I appreciate the staff member that came out to let us know to enter immediately if eggs are not being purchased. A lot of time was saved. Thank you.

Yelp
The manager Johnathan went over and beyond. I appreciate his fast response and quick action! Thank you!

Yelp
The good: My husband and I love going to various Costcos outside of our city so we decided to try this one today. There were so many samples here! The fans were blowing strong for cool air. The sample guy for grilled cheese sandwiches was friendly and urged me to get more than one piece. The lines were long but moved quickly. The bad: This was a super busy Costco with a hectic parking lot. The food carts not in use were lined up by the dairy section and taking up space. We didn't see white vinegar here. They didn't sell the larger packs of eggs. Cartons in the dairy section were messily arranged. Bananas were heavily sorted thru and some mushed. The interesting: They already have Christmas stuff for sale and it just turned September!

Yelp
I mostly have the membership for gas and hotdogs. They now have self serve prepay stations for the hot dogs. You order and pay at the kiosks and then take your receipt to the window to get your food. Note: you must take your receipt to the window; the orders are not sent to them. Very large, yet busy parking lot.
google avatar

Queen S.

Yelp
Good selection of goods. I get batteries, tires, water etc and computers. Their insurance is good on their stuff

Victoria R.

Yelp
So executives get early access but the store still opening wayyyyy after its opening hours... Then at the food court the kiosk aren't working. The associate asking me, "the kiosk isn't working..." like no or else i would have order already. You guys don't have any receipt paper, no syrups in the soda machines, but y'all do have a whole lot of attitude...
google avatar

Ada C.

Yelp
Too crowded. Carts are hard to push through the store. I injured myself a few times. Customers are very rude to you. Very toxic environment. Prices are not that low. Could save more time and energy and spend about the same amount of $ going to Ralphs/Kroger plus people at Ralph's aren't as rude as Costco customers.
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
Costco has the best food court. The food court in Inglewood is outside. My favorites are hot hogs and salad. The Hot Dogs come with a soda for $1.50. The Rotisserie Chicken Salad is super tasty. The salad has Costco's signature rotisserie chicken, lettuce, cheese, croutons and salad dressing. You can sip your drink, eat your food and enjoy the atmosphere.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
Extremely bad customer service at this location. Food court is crowded, understaffed and the food is not made right. There's a lack of black employees now. This is Inglewood, so while shopping at this location I didn't see any black employees while shopping midweek except a single one. Management doesn't seem to think the overhead fans should be on to move air, there's still germs and viruses everywhere. Every time I shop here the fans are shutoff. Rude self checkout, all Hispanic employees. Allowing their brethren to skip the lines and not scanning all of their items.
google avatar

Yelp
I was shopping for a new mattress and I stumble across a mattress mark for $199.99 and when I went to the checkout. The cashier proceeded to give me a different total than the original price. I explained that, that wasn't as marked and was told they were sending someone to go check if the merchandise was place under that label. Then they proceeded to blame one of the members of moving the merchandise to that label. I went under Costco policy and it says "Yes, if you find merchandise in the wrong spot with a different price and bring it to the register, Costco will generally honor the lower price, as it's considered an honest mistake in the customer's favor. Costco's policy is to honor the posted price, and this applies even if the price tag was incorrectly placed" I then showed the manager on duty Tanya and was totally dismissed, she didn't bother to correct the wrong doing of the miss labeling! I'm disappointed by the poor customer service and the lack of accountability from not only Tanya, but from the team!

Yelp
The Eye glass department is horrible for customer service the lady who waited on my daughter has NO customer service skills she needs not work with the general public not friendly as a matter of fact most of the staff unfriendly not like it used to be unfortunately I won't be going there anymore I'd rather go elsewhere l
google avatar

Joel J.

Yelp
By far the worst Costco in LA. Lines are long, self checkout don't work, food court lines are insane. Go to another Costco this one needs serious new management.

Yelp
Why can't this Costco open on time for Executive Members. It's 9:13 and we are still standing outside. Poor customer service!!!

Yelp
This review is about Costco tires in Inglewood. I am sitting at Costco, waiting for a tire to be replaced. This is the SIXTH time I've been here in the past year to have tires repaired that Costco sold to me. I had my car on the tires it came with for 4 years, and it was time to replace them all. I found a good deal at Costco, so I ordered 4 new tires (Michelin Crossclimate that retail for $296 each). The order was VERY delayed and once they arrived, I still had to wait several days to get an appointment for them to be installed. Costco refunded a little bit to compensate for it. About 2 months later, I was back in Costco because the first tire went flat. They repaired it. That was the beginning of a nightmare. As I said, this is literally the 6th time in the past year that I've had to go into Costco to have a tire repaired. Each time, I have to wait several days to have an appointment for the repair. Then, u have to wait for several hours each time (even with an appointment). Finally, they decided to replace one of the tires and CHARGED me for it! It's like, you sell me bad tires, then you string me along, saying that they can be repaired, and the whole time, you knew that you needed to replace the tires, but you pushed it out long enough and try to charge me for it?! At least one of the times I went it, it was because their repair failed. I have wasted SO much time here, that the discount wasn't worth it at all.

Yelp
Me and my friend went to this Costco and firstly there was a lady that worked there blocking the entrances with carts and as we paid we got asked to show receipts 2 because we pay for our stuff separately and we are the only one they ask to see receipts We felt discriminated profiled and it was a bit racist that wasn't cool
google avatar

Gregory C.

Yelp
It's noon on a Thursday. There is ONE person working at the membership area, with a line waiting!!!! Do better Costco Managment Denzel, you were an absolute rockstar for your patience with the people ahead of me and I'm sorry management is making your job a nightmare . You never said a single word about it, but you should not have had to be alone with that line!!
google avatar

Yelp
This Costco is great... with one hug exception. This Costco is large, nice, and has a good selection. It doesn't feel overcrowded, even on a Sunday afternoon. Which is nice. The food court has plenty of seating, another big plus. There are plenty of check outs and self check outs, and the lines move pretty quickly. So why not five stars? The parking lot (especially the entrance and around the gas station) is a DISASTER. I mean, an absolute DISASTER. Seriously, why can't Costco figure out parking lots? Has there ever been a Costco in the HISTORY OF THE WORLD that had a parking lot that was good? If there is, I haven't found it.
google avatar

Fabiola S.

Yelp
Food court!!!! Need more employees behind counter. I have waited too long in line, I have left because of the long lines. Unacceptable, this was not like this before. One cashier to handle two lines not good.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great store to buy anything from. Will be a lifetime customer. Fully recommend.

Yelp
Came here to get new eye lenses. There was no one ahead of me and the service was fast and inexpensive (thank goodness for insurance ). I did some shopping and I notice that they had a sign over the meat area that said "prime" but all they had on display was choice. Bummer! Prices for the meat were average for Costco but a lot better than the grocery market. I did find a few good deals on cereal and some other items. The store is clean and it wasn't crowded at 10 AM.
google avatar

Tranell D.

Yelp
This Costco is HORRIBLE ! The food court area HORRIBLE ! The service is horrible ! They told me 30 min wait for my pizza ... cool. It was crowded I understood I came back 32 min later and sat at the pick up window for 10 mins without being acknowledged, I spoke up . Then here comes rude 1 and rude lil ugly 2 . "Well you gotta wait 15 more mins". And walks away ! Don't ask to be hired if you don't want to be there!
google avatar

Abraham Q.

Yelp
The service here is a hit or miss. As a customer that spends monthly the service is not great. It only takes a second for the greeter at the exit to say thank you for shopping with us have a great day and yet they never do! You do realize i just shopped at your store and therefore keeping you employed? The value and selection is always great at any Costco but customer service needs serious work at this specific location. Simple scroll down and see how that's constant issue at this Costco.
google avatar

Brianna R.

Yelp
Pros of this location: - cheap gas - food court - employees are pretty friendly and helpful - even with inflation, prices are still decent Cons: - samples: they're back but I don't see them each time - inventory: I noticed they don't have all the same items as the one in Marina Del Rey - lines could be more efficient as I've seen them stretch all the way back to the meat area - parking on the weekends can be rough, especially when there's a game at SoFi - checkout doesn't always have boxes
google avatar

Looo J.

Yelp
Horrible experience with Brenda in optical. I was told I can't re order Costco frames to fit current prescription. The sales clerk Brenda will laughed at you and make fun of you as you enter the store . Horrible experience never coming back to this Costco again
google avatar

Yolanda T.

Yelp
I wish they would stop charging us for deliveries. We already pay for membership. That should be enough. Take a page out of Amazon. They deliver the same day or within a few days and they don't charge. I ave been a customer for years. I prefer them to Sam's club and I am a business member.
google avatar

Sidra G.

Yelp
I have been a Costco member for 17 years now. I love every warehouse location so far. However, I wish they still had food sampling stations like they did before the pandemic. They're still my number one choice for all the perks. I went to the Inglewood location for tires. They have the best tire deal of you purchase all 4 plus 75,000 miles warranty and the wheels are replaceable. All other locations needed a appointment but this one I did a walk-in emergency. Juan was knowledgeable in his field and helped me a lot.
google avatar

Yelp
This costco is my go to location since its close to my house and is usually well stocked. Im leaving this review because the african american man with light colored eyes in the Meat department is always extremely helpful... (I need to get his name when I return) I was having a special event and needed a case of King Crab from the back since there were none left out in the coolers & He took the time to go across the store to another freezer to grab one for me I Really appreciate that he did this for me when he could have simply said " WE ARE SOLD OUT" I will get his name next but I just wanted to say THANKS 4 Helping me out each and every time

Anonymous P.

Yelp
I like shopping at this location but today 08/24/24. I had an unpleasant experience because I was just adding value to a gift card and the person in charge made me feel invisible and unvaluable. She is ignorant of the fact that I was talking to her and she rather speak to someone out of scope. That doesn't mean I will shop here at Inglewood by Costco. This just means that the people that they hire are dense enough to treat people with no respect. (Was in the Merchandise Pick up) because the registered person told me to head there. Some employees need to learn to deal with customer service class and be mindful that they should not scare their customers away.
google avatar

Yelp
Saturday morning supposed to open at 0930 yet we are standing outside at 0940 with no promise of coming in anytime soon. What is it with business in our areas. When you go outside our areas service is so much better. I just don't get it. On the flipside, the store is always very clean organized and I always find what I'm looking for.

Yelp
Costco has hit a new low. I was at this store yesterday, couldn't understand why there was a line of 20+people waiting in line to get inside the store, then I saw it, 2 scanners. Lurking inside the entrance on the right was a membership table "just in case" your membership was expired. It felt like a sobriety check point. This whole membership dues campaign started with excluding the general public from purchasing food from the food court. Gotta be a member for that. Sad, because a lot of large families living in a shoe string budget could feed their families there. Then the constant agressive push at the entrances & inside the stores to drum up memberships with a "free" cooler bag. Then the beginning of each year to getting in our faces to show I.d. When checking out. In 2019 Costco stock was in the $200's, now it's around $850 per share. The company isn't hurting, even though their customers are suffering from inflation. You'd be surprised what a win fall these membership fees are. Costco (I'm a Priceclub member from 1988) used to be I nice company, it's turned into another typical greedy company like Netflix & Disney who's only loyalty is to their shareholders. This isn't about the customer service, ease of shopping, or the quality of shopping at Costco, it's about the bottomline

Yelp
I've come to return a couple things and i always get the same girl, Herenderia, and when i need to get a super visor or manager, Jahnee, involved everything gets worse. I returned a water cooler about a month ago at this location. I bought this water cooler in July 2020 in San Diego. The second i got called up from the line to process my return, Herenderia, the customer service refund person, immediately says no not possible and if i don't like the answer she'll get supervisor involved. So i said sure i can speak with supervisor. Supervisor comes by, agrees with Herenderia that it's not possible, i push a bit more for it and VERY RELUCTANTLY, supervisor says i will not give you a refund I'll give you a gift card. I feel pressured so i accept the offer. Today, i tried to return a Dyson vacuum that i also bought in 2020 September, and i call Costco before i go to make sure i don't waste a drive only for them to tell me no since last time was a bit of an issue, and customer service reassures me that of course i can go get a refund i just need to provide the date i bought it and show my ID. Happily i drive to Costco and once i stand in line, who do i see but Herenderia. She sees me, quickly gets done with her customer and calls me over, i say my hello and explain my return for my unused Dyson vacuum and hand her my Costco card, ID, and debit card, she only takes my Costco card and says no. And i ask well why not, and she immediately says i can get a supervisor if you'd like, and confused once again i say sure okay, supervisor starts walking over, Herenderia stops her has a word with her and as the supervisor, Jahnee, comes over she says no refund because it's been 4 years. ???? What?? Since when? Costco has ALWAYS upheld their honorable customer satisfaction or refund policy - Time does not matter-, i remind her of that and she says no refund because Dyson won't refund us so no. I ask okay so if i go to another Costco and they actually process the refund for me, then what? She says then they can refund you but not us It's a losing battle, they clearly don't like me or have some sort of issue with me mind you i dont personally know them or anything, but the second they see me it's an immediate no. I am not a very aggressive person, i can handle confrontation and i stand up for myself quite a bit as im a tiny Italian woman who gets trampled over quite a bit, but this is clearly something not worth arguing over. If they say no, how can i, the unsatisfied costco customer, make them realize that they're wrong for denying me without starting a real problem? It's just not worth it. So i sadly and confusedly walk back to my car with my vacuum and i call Costco customer service again to ask what i am doing wrong, and i get reassured from customer service that its not possible to be rejected of a refund as it's Costco's policy and i can read it myself on Costco.com. So i call the Costco location to complain about it to a different supervisor and guess what, i ask to speak to manager or supervisor and JAHNEE answers the call, i ask for another supervisor and she says "I'm the senior manager here so who else would you rather talk to" No matter who i complain to, I'll get this evil cruel woman who makes her own rules as she top boss at this location. Someone needs to go undercover boss at this location and see how the refunds are being handled by Herenderia and Jahnee because this is unacceptable to go against Costco policy and make up their own rules. Costco has always been honorable with their customer satisfaction or return policy and these two workers do not represent their company honorably, respectfully, or professionally. Costco ALWAYS accepts refunds and if they cannot refund they typically put it back on a gift card which to me would have been okay, i wouldn't have been happy with it but it's better than letting this vacuum in its box collect more dust in the corner of my living room. I'm really hurt and disappointed in my recent Costco experiences.

Yelp
Today, they get one salty star for their incredibly poor planning and customer service. I exited feeling like it might be ok to burn this place to the ground. Despite the city bosses allowing SoFi to be built practically across the street, routinely immobilizing traffic for a mile in about any direction, this is the store I usually visit. There is absolutely no care or attention given to checkout queues. I just waited 23 minutes in a line that began halfway to the back of the store only to be told I wasn't in the 'right' line. Most annoyingly, the guy called me 'bro.' What the fuck is up with that bullshit, huh? So yeah, I was angry. I just left my cart there in front of the guy and said "Cool!" as I left. This is absolutely bullshit and worse customer service than I've ever received at any Costco.

Yelp
Today it reminded me why I never go to this Costco in Inglewood. I was looking for Kleenex that went on sale started today. It says this location has it in stock. I called the store and they said yes they have plenty of them. I went to the store right away & I went to the Kleenex section and they have the other 2 kinds but not the Kleenex on sale. I asked the employee that was working around the area & showed him the picture of Kleenex I was looking for. He replied so rude, "if you don't see it then we don't have it." I told him I asked & shows that you guys have it in stock, then he replied " this all we have" then started walking away. Never even bother to see if they place a pallet of them elsewhere or really check if they have it in stock. Surely enough they placed them in the different aisle near clothing area. Employee was not helpful & don't need to reply to their customers in a rude way. I used the self-checkout. So many empty self checkout registers. The employee name Teresa said get in line. I asked her where is the line then she just pointed there. Clearly there was no line for self-checkout at that time. This place is full of bad customer service employees working here.
google avatar

Nayeli C.

Yelp
I was on the self check out and was going to pay for a item due to my injury in my leg I was using a automatic cart and the employee Agustin stated that I had to wait in another line to pay for my item that self-checkout don't accept that item..i felt intimidated because even-though we waited in line for a long time he didn't let me pay for my item he said I had to wait in another line again no matter what.

Yelp
Everytime I go to Costco with my mom there's an employee that's always giving us a hard time everytime. He's so rude and I feel harrased by this employee. This is the last time I go to Costco. I already cancel my mom membership. The guy needs to get fired or something. He's an older Hispanic guy and kind of big unfortunately I don't have his name.

Yelp
This costco store is nice and organized. Every time I go I find the store clean and the inventory in stock. Theres always workers cleaning and organizing which is good and so far no employee has ever been mean. I am kind of sad that they removed the photo section but they did that everywhere. Pros -Organized -Clean -Nice employees Cons -Always traffic on century

Yelp
Here I am on a Sunday...... Palm Sunday! Here in the old neighborhood so I decided to come to Costco. Parking, parking ,parking was an entire mess! It's a damn circus here. So overcrowded and so many people just straight up disrespectful, Lol! Going in there was so many people busy doing their shopping. Wish I had a Valium because my anxiety level was high I was able to maneuver my cart like a gangster get my things and dip. For those that are visiting and are going to a game at SoFi stadium this Costco is very near. So long Costco!

Yelp
I hate this location. The morale of the workers are terrible and the wait time is always terrible. I've been in line for almost 10 minutes and now they want to switch cashiers. Also, no has any courtesy just walk right in front of you not saying excuse me. Never again. A total of six employees or more have walked by.
google avatar

Yelp
Kinda disappointed I saw 10+ people looking and ask for the water gallons but told us it would be over 2 hours to get it out. I understand it would take some time but 2 hours is so long when so many people are there right now!!!

Yelp
-Workers are kind and helpful -Lines go down fairly quickly even though it's always crowded -A nice go-to spot for groceries in bulk especially for huge family and friends -Great item selections

Yelp
Do not go here for your optical! Carina stiff like a brick needs better customer service. The meatball that was working next to carina. Needs to not insert herself in people conversation. Didn't ask for your help. And couldn't let me finished my sentence and moved on with another customer. Trying to be petty. Cute. Did not know today I was going to meet Timon and pumbaa from The Lion King. Anyways great manger. Higher manger needs to relax.

Yelp
I ended up on the sloooooowest line with lovebirds soledad and brandon. Talking about their like or dislikes. She over charged me bcause she was on a date with brandon ....
