Disappointing Customer Service at Livermore Costco Optical Department!
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the customer service provided by a woman in your Livermore Costco Optical Department on Sunday, 8/17/2025.
My son and I visited the department to have his newly purchased glasses adjusted, as they were too loose and felt as though they would fall off. After waiting for approximately 30 minutes, we were helped by a woman who proceeded to adjust the glasses without first having my son wear them to assess the fit.
When I questioned her process, she stated that her experience made it unnecessary to check the fit beforehand. Although I respect her expertise, I believe it is standard practice and crucial to check a customer's individual fit before making adjustments. After multiple attempts to adjust the glasses, with my son repeatedly confirming they were still too loose, the woman's demeanor became visibly impatient. She even warned that further adjustments could break the glasses.
When I stated that customer satisfaction should be her priority, she became confrontational and suggested we get a manager. I agreed, and upon explaining the situation to the manager, I felt he was not impartial and sided with his employee. We ultimately left with a subpar adjustment because my son did not want to endure the wait for a new pair of glasses. While a refund was offered, the time and inconvenience of starting the process over were not a viable option for us.
I found the woman’s attitude and lack of consideration for our specific needs to be unprofessional. This experience fell far short of the customer service I expect from Costco.
