"A large membership warehouse retailer cited as an example of a place where mask rules were applied (e.g., wearing a mask to the bathroom) during shifting public-health guidance; the mention underscores that following a store's policy for a brief period is framed as a small, sensible courtesy amid broader uncertainty over masking." - ByAlex Beggs

I really enjoyed my shopping experience today. This was the only Costco location that had the Ninja Slushi in stock under $330. Even got the last LED Ceiling Fan that people were grabbing rapidly. If you can’t find your items locally, Merrillville is the store to check out!

Google
this place is becoming the new southlake mall of the 2020's. instead of going to hit on hot chicks out of my league by the arcade, i now force awkward conversations out of the ladies handing out random samples and buy more muffins than a single family could ever enjoy. I love you Costco.

Google
Very good quality shopping. Quick made delicious foods are a real plus and grocery items comprise my weekly shopping ay Costco. I also have a living room of very high quality set of couches bought from Costco last year. Could not be more satisfied with my Costco.

The magic always happens at Costco! Beautiful job by the workers and management to create an atmosphere perfect for buying Christmas gifts and obviously bulk wares. The quality of everything only keeps going up. As in the words of comedian Sheng Wang, it actually is a spiritual experience coming to Costco 😊

Google
Did not have the greatest experience, right as I came in the optical we started looking at glasses and frames, we saw a couple of nice ones and all but as we we're e going down the store we saw some pretty ones on a palate, the were pack in a box and really no way to try them on, so we open the box and took them to the optical department to try them on! Unfortunately they were not a great fit , so we took them back to one of the self check out employees, could not remember her name but she had a lot of stickers in her name badge and was kinda of hard to read because of it! I handed her the case with the glasses and told her that we wouldn't be able to take them because of how the fit, she look at me and with a discomfort face and said, "well shouldn't have open them in the first place" I was shock on the way she responded, I responded, "how are we supposed to buy them if we can't even try them?", she responded, well you "buy them and then returned them" but this time with a more aggressive response! I offer to buy them but at that point she walk away. This is the first time I had a bad experience with costumer service at Costco, usually all the stores that we've visited are super nice, friendly, understanding and sometimes going above and beyond!

Google
Still new to Costco, so getting to know the way around this REALLY BIG place. Learning not to go on weekends as it is very busy then. Drove around looking for parking for like 20 minutes on a Sunday - actually gave up and left. The pizzas and other take out foods in the food court are delicious, and less than half the price of similar items at other venues. Member Services staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Google
There is nothing better than Costco! Which a great variety of items both fresh and packaged! Absolutely love that they brought back SAMPLES!!!! Most recently I brought my mom for hearing aids. They cost 1/4 of what she paid at a different place last time! The technician was very kind and patient with my 88 year old mom. We can’t wait for them to come in for her!

Quick if you know exactly what you want. Went at 11 am on a Thursday and it was a little busy!

Yelp
I love this Costco in NWI. I visit it whenever I'm back home visiting and they have so many great things available for purchase. Visited again last night and wow do they have so many samples available on a Thursday night. It's always very clean, and the bathroom is super clean as well. Their wine section has really expanded over the years, and it's even more impressive, I have to say. They have a pretty steady rotation of different products available, which is super nice. Holiday time it gets hectic and backed up now because of the number of self checkouts. It used to be much quicker with not having those.

Yelp
What a debacle at the checkout. The helper lady comes over and starts adjusting all of the items in the cart. We had already put the upc codes up and available for scanning. Several items we put on the conveyer belt were put back into our cart by the check out assistant. We asked this lady to stop touching all of our items and were responded by a look to kill and and then the check out cashier took an attitude towards me and said NOW , I need to put everything on the conveyer belt. What? The assistant just took items and put them back into the cart. So getting discriminated against and facing the charge to completely empty our cart because the cashier was offended by her assistant being asked to stop arrange our stuff is just WRONG! Punishment! The supervisor was asked to come over and she after talking to the cashier told us we need to empty the cart unto the conveyer belt. That is mot a Costco policy. Nor is it standard operating procedures. What a sham, shame on you Costco.

Yelp
I do not recommend this place to work for. They lie right to your face. They hire people. I am a good worker and always show up on time and do everything I'm told not even 30 days they tell me I'm not working out. I wanted to talk to the manager they wouldn't let me I ask why are you terminating me they couldn't tell me why I think they lied to me. Not sure why they let me go. One of the girls that's in shipping that drives one of them fork trucks she would be texting on her Apple Watch. She got away with that. They would play music on speakers I couldn't under stand. To me that is races. I didn't care for that kind of music but yet they got to play that stuff.

Yelp
I am finally DONE with Costco!! Where to start, I will begin by saying that EVERY ITEM that customers Love and Costco always sells out of, Costco discontinues it. From the best Country French bread to the Tuscan pork tenderloin and tons of items in between....They are all Discontinued!! Then they raise their membership prices, normally I wouldn't complain about that, however, when they announce that they are opening an hour early BUT only for Executive members, that tells me how Greedy they actually are!! They could offer Senior citizens and handicapped folks the benefit of shopping early like they did during COVID, but NO because they don't care since it doesn't bring in more money for this already RICH company! Next....have you checked their prices lately?? If you compare them to other clubs or even the local grocery stores, they are so much more and in some cases 50% more! And I'm not talking about items with Tariffs attached. Have you ever tried to use the Costco website??? GOOD LUCK!! It is the worse website I've ever TRIED to use. NOTHING makes sense and if you try to find an item it usually brings up Something Totally unrelated! I'm not sure what has happened to Costco, they use to be a good company, but now it seems to me that they Only care about their profit's and stockholders and NOT their customers, we the people who are making them RICH!! Well I'm through giving them my business and my money!! There are other places to shop with companies who appreciate their customers.

Yelp
No one takes responsibility for basic Costco benefits. The food court and line out the door is a cluster of madness

Marty M.

Yelp
Best store I've been to in many years. Service, selection and value is second to none.
google avatar

Yelp
This Costco is a well laid out friendly environment. The food court has enough seating. We've always found room for my family if 5. And by the way, where else can you feed 5 people for just $10 and everyone eats until they're satisfied? I digress...They're all set up for Christmas. wreaths, Christmas trees, all the way down to the enormous pumpkin pie which is only $5.99. Honestly you can't make a homemade one that size for that price!!! Do yourself a favor and pick up the new Sriracha spice. Costco's selection is always rotating, so don't miss out!

Yelp
Every now and again a customer will experience the Costco pissed off employee "Cattle Treatment" ..The day I'm giving feedback, was a recent Sunday and busy (to be fair) and Lady at the long self checkout were treating customers like it's the Illinois DMV. Apparently there is a New Policy at the self checkout checking ID's. Witnessed this lady at Self check out yelling with a loud disrespectful volume to all the customers at the "self checkout" in the way she was bossing/directing/yelling at customers to get their Costco ID's out. I had mine out next to my wallet and she came back around to me personally acting like a busy body and stood in front of me demanding I get my id out. Long line that was 15' front the first self checkout and I have mine out and so I checked her on her bossy attitude saying " we are not at the DMV" and that "I won't be yelled at" in line at Costco. She ended her grumpy rant with me with rolling her eyes and very clearly laughing at me (as her attempt to try to embarrass me) playing to everyone in the line. Once I checked out I was in the middle self check out area and pissed at being disrespected and I spoke with two other Costco employees that were nice and I explained her rude behavior and they did not look surprised that I was complaining about her and they said for me to communicate that to upper management. They were busy I get that yet I won't be directed and yelled at like I'm Cattle. Eventually spoke with Store manager Tom today and maybe he was having a bad day too, and he tried to mischaracterize the occurrence and I said check the video for her disrespectful laughter and he refused to acknowledge that occurred. He then attempted to spice up my feedback by acting indifferent, acting like I was wasting his time, and giving comments such as "we watched the video" there are "there are 3 sides to every story" and then I asked him what the 3rd side was? He said "the truth." Told him that I find it funny that he felt that my side was anything but the truth. He continued with the more-or-less defensive petty conversation style. I used some sarcasm (similar to "what the 3rd side is!!??") to Lighten to feedback mood and he stated my sarcasm was "inappropriate" . It really wasn't it was mild, witty, and lighthearted. Honestly, Maybe he took too much feedback that day, yet I do have to question how smart he is to add insult to injury from the feedback I gave to him. Could tell he didn't like the fact that I told him that I've been to the store several times after, and that's it's obvious that since that bossy lady incident that the times I have been to the self checkout register NOBODY was checking ID's since then. He acted like that was improbable if not impossible, and I told him no that is a fact. He definitely did not like that. Was on the phone with the assistant and put on hold while I waited. So the total call was approx 40 minutes and he had to take a jab at me saying that "we have been on the phone for almost 40 minutes" not true IF you consider me waiting for him to come on the line. At that point, everything was fine as I had a perfectly positive, respectable, and respectful convo with Christina, and one of the assistant store managers about the incident so I'm thinking what the heck is the matter with Manager Tom on the day I spoke to him?? Bottom line, stop treating loyal customers like they are cattle Costco.. worse yet and then defending poor behavior from the bossy lady at self-checkout. P.s what happened?? Self checkout was pitched to be this great "fast and friendly" new thing for the consumer for past 20 years!

Yelp
this is the costco i always go for gas on my way to Chicago to visit daughter. It's 1.5 hour away from Chicago, so it's perfect location. In the past, the gas price is always the same as the BP station just outside this costco, i was always disappointed when eventually get the gas after waiting in line. So this time, when i send daughter back to Chicago, i checked the gas price before i drove in, interestingly, now the price is 30 cents less than BP.Wow, this is the first! That's unbelievable! So i also get gas here when i leave Chicago for home on the 2nd day. Good improvements on gas prices!

Yelp
Wanted to leave a review specifically for my sons birthday cake. It was $25 for a sheet and AMAZING. I've had cakes that cost triple that and aren't nearly as good. Ordering was easy, just fill out a sheet and pick your customization and then pick up when you indicate.

Yelp
Costco Tire Center, Merrillville, IN, is a professionally run tire center; however, I would recommend that they hire someone to answer the phone and make appointments. Their tire technicians are knowledgeable and well trained. They offer advice that will keep you and your loved ones safe. And they will call you until you come back for tire checks. Mike Ferjo is very cordial, punctual, and informative. He is an excellent representative of Costco.

Yelp
This is my favorite Costco - oh wait ALL Costco's are my favorite. However, this location has some great people working here. Everyone is extremely friendly and fortunately or unfortunately they know me and my family - because Costco gets ALL my money. The executive membership pays for itself if you spend enough; up to $1000/year. We enjoy getting our 2% reward, which usually arrives about two months before membership renewal. I'm expecting my biggest payout yet this fall and already planning to spend it right back at Costco. In addition to the rewards, Costco is extremely customer focused and will allow you to return items you are unsatisfied with. Items do rotate, sometimes seasonally or just because - so if you see an asterisk on the price label, you'd better stock up if it's a fave. Then, head right on over to the customer feedback box and drop a note. This note should be a whiny one, imploring them to bring back your favorite item; if they have enough people complain, they might just bring it back for you.

Yelp
Sorry sometimes we have to be 'those people' who shop outside the city/state to save money. Yes, renting the car is extra, but we'd have to rent it anyway for any Costco we go to. It could be the principle of the thing too. The store is nicely organized, and usually I get a 60 cent soda but this time I didn't. I love the granola they sell, but didn't see it this time. I think it may be a spring/summer only item. This was a very busy time (12:30 on Saturday!) but despite the crowd people were so polite. They had samples galore, and good portions too. Yes, we saw CHRISTMAS stuff in early October, but we are technically in the holiday season.

Yelp
I've been coming to this location for a few years and a lot of good people work here however the once pleasant Costco experience has been turned upside down with the Covid 19 virus. Many recent eye opening encounters that forced me to rethink my positive opinion of Costco. The recent virus has taxed many of us individually and changed our worlds as new shopping restrictions and safety measures were enacted. Some were needed, while others were over the top. Here are some examples of the horrid treatment Costco staff has directed at customers. I witnessed an older man with 2 roasted chickens in his cart, the limit was 1. Summoned were a store manager and clerk demanding the man put the other chicken back, he did and walked out. It made Costco look small and petty and mean. I've been rudely treated by the entrance door. I'm here to pick up a prescription, I said. I'm a senior and use the cart to walk with. No! If was to take the cart in, I would have to stand in the long line and the pharmacy would close, I left the cart behind. I called in last Saturday as I was nearby. I forgot my mask at home is it possible to come into the store? No! A snarky female voice responded, you can't come in without a mask. That's total bullshit, because I called the corporate office in Spokane, WA and they told me they can not force people to wear a mask. More people should walk away from this store and take your business elsewhere. Some people can't breathe with a mask on for medical reasons. Healthy people breathing through a mask are taking in germs and Co2 constantly. Social distancing and the plexiglass checkouts aren't enough? Stop being sheep by being led into a 24/7 state of panic, fear and control. Do not let COSTCO dictate fear. Shop at another store, plenty of reputable stores in the area that would love your loyal business . If Costco really wanted your business they'd hand you one of those cheap 25 cent Chinese masks at the door, if you didn't already have one. With all the big bucks Costco takes in daily, I think this would be a gracious gesture.

Yelp
Now the management/buyer is getting ridiculous about organic- can't find much of anything. Mostly commercially grown/pesticide/herbicide-(glycophosphate-cancer causing)-laden produce. Has organic chicken. Most of the greens are not. No organic brown rice. No organic flax. Organic apples, mushrooms, and bananas and that about it. No organic butter or eggs. have to compare with Sam's club and Walmart since they are getting to comparative levels of commodities. Noticed that the European wines have been hiked about 50% in price recently. Bottle you can buy in Europe for $4 is $12 at Costco. Maybe that's the mafia at work, don't know. It's not really inflation- it's just gouging, like the oil companies.

Yelp
I was in your Merrillville store # 370 ! I am a new member #111960303848 . I was told that I was able to bring my support animal in with me . I had put carpet on the bottom of the cart ( that I had bought at Menards). I put my dog in the cart which I always do ! I was approached by a man who I expect is a Manager, he said that it a law made by the health Dept. That a dog cannot be in cart because food is put in it ! My dog weighs 11 pounds and he cannot walk on the floor with a leash because someone will step on him or run over him with a cart ! I need him with me because of the health problems I have! He should be just as worried about people who put their dirty diaper kids in the carts ! My dog does not defecate in your carts! If I can't put my dog in a cart for his safety, I will be sending my Executive Member card back to you ! I recommend that all carts are completely sanitized after each child is out of the carts ! Dirty diapers and snotty noses .

Yelp
This review is about the company, not this store. We did however place an online order referencing this store as our store. Here's what Costco did. In October they ran a sale on appliances. Costco scheduled delivery November 17' about six weeks later. Just five days before Thanksgiving. Now two days before the scheduled delivery date we are notified they cannot deliver and will let us know when! This leaves us up a creek for the holiday with a large family coming over. Why didn't they let us know six weeks ago they couldn't get the product? This is low class business at the most basic incompetent level of a storefront used car dealer. Moral is that you cannot trust Costco for delivering on time. If you can't but it and walk away with it, don't count on getting it from Costco. All of the other big box stores are saying out of stock, that they won't even take your order. Apparently Costco wants your money and will stoop to any low level to get it. They don't seem to care if they ruin a family holiday.

Yelp
It was 5pm when my tire blew out and I called for a tow. Everywhere I called said they were closing and would be closed tomorrow but Costco was willing to work with me. Even though they closed at 6 they stayed open well past that and ensured my vehicle was safe to continue on my trip. I didn't even have a membership when I called but they assisted me in getting one so I could get back on the road. Very friendly helpful staff that I couldn't thank enough!

Yelp
I went to Costco in Merrillville IN . They have a 3 pack of Duracell LED flashlights on sale in monthly catalogue for $14.99 after $5 off. Store did not have any in stock. I then went on line and the same product was $17.99 after $5 off. How can this be possible? Does Costco need some math lessons or are they just plain lying to us. I called national help line and they said too bad. Online prices can be and most often are different than in store they said. Wouldn't you think on line would be cheaper as there is no associated "big box" overhead? I then called the Merrillville store to see if more would be coming in. They said not expecting deliveries anytime soon and likely would not have the product in time for sale price to hold. No rainchecks. Merrillville Costco did have boxes and boxes of the 3 pack Duracell headlamp lights for the same price and not advertised as such in the catalogue. They were sitting end of aisle where you would think the hand helds would be located. Could this be the ole "bait and switch " routine? Promise them the hand held flashlights in the catalogue but deliver the much less desirable (in my estimation) headlamp which they probably over stocked. ( "Hold on Martha. There's a burglar in the house!! Let me slip on my headlamp device here for a minute or two. Then I'll walk out of the bedroom and be sure I am good head shot target for the burglar" ) I feel this is dishonest in a number of regards by Costco and would not have expected such treatment and flim flam tactics for a retailer with Costco's stellar reputation. Yoo hoo? Is anyone in Costco's Executive Suite reading these posts so as to be sure Costco is not heading the way of Sears and K-Mart?

Yelp
This Costco is be of my favs in the Chicagoland area. I always enjoy the food court. The cheese pizza can be hit or miss but the Frozen Yogurt and hot dog hit the spot. I have been known to just come here for the food court alone take it to the car and Chow down as you will see in the pics I posted. As for the rest I love me some rotisserie chicken it is just so delicious. Everytime I hope there I overspend buying things I shouldn't but I think will be useful.

Yelp
What is there not to like about Costco? Staff is friendly, and is willing to help you whenever you need help. I love their prices! And don't get me started with their travel agency, they're some of the best agents in the business. I only wish that they did airline ticket only options. No one beats Costco's prices on car rentals. Whether you're in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or here in the states you always get the best deal with Costco travel. Their options for excursions when you're traveling are fantastic and well priced. And don't get me started with the cost of cruises! NO ONE and I mean no one beats Costco on the best cruise prices! I adore Costco! Online shopping is great with them too! So if you need a refrigerator, Toilet paper, groceries, a diamond engagement ring or a Disney Cruise, or just about anything else, Costco is your best place to go!

Yelp
I come to this store all the time. I guess from 9am to 10am seniors get in that are over 60 from what I hear. The lady in front of me said she was 55 and the lady thats letting people in told her to come back at 10am. Then she changed her mind and said your close to 60 so your good, but told me no come back at 10am. You can't pick and choose if you gonna let some in under 60 you need to let everyone in. Just saying smh.

Yelp
Been here plenty of times, always just the normal big box experience. I came today in the midst of the Coronavirus Epidemic panic and this store was firing on all cylinders. All staff competent and helpful. Though the store was packed people were directed to check outs in a very orderly manner and no stress other than weaving through 100's of people whole shopping. Great store, great staff, A+.

Yelp
Very clean and organized. I just felt the the cashier and bagger was just there for their paycheck. Not much of a personality. It was beginning of day also! But I absolutely love the man that always checks the receipts. I'll have to learn his name. Huge smile and always addresses my kids:)

Yelp
Costco = awesome. I had Costco membership for many years in Alaska. Then I didn't have one for quite some time. I was buying new hearing aids and balking at price when someone said, "why not buy hearing aids at Costco?" Costco has hearing aids? Yes. They have EVERYTHING. And just like the good old days, the prices are amazing, the selection is great, there's nothing to not love. So, hearing aid center here is friendly and competent and my hearing aids work well. They have staples critical to my family such as cleaning supplies, protein bars, almond milk and so on. And then the seasonal stuff and produce are all great too. With the Costco membership credit card, we are paying for everything and paying it off each month. We are already at over $400 credit toward purchase of next years' membership with a handy check for hundreds of dollars at the end of the year, and that's ON TOP OF ALREADY GREAT PRICES INCLUDING GASOLINE. There is NO reason to not have a Costco membership in the Merrillville area.

Yelp
I love Costco. We've previously had a membership to Sam's Club and when my husband suggested we change memberships I was a bit reluctant. After all I was familiar with Sam's and I am not a big fan of "change". But he was persistent and I'm so glad he was. The warehouse is bright and roomy. Employees are friendly and happy to help. The photo department is awesome and so cheap. Some of our most favorite items are their lunch meat, salmon and produce. We also use their brand of facial tissue and paper towels. Of course we buy all our "brand name" products... well, the ones that we can use before it goes bad. Oh! I can't fail to mention the cranberry - macadamia nut cereal... definitely one of our favorites. And then there's the cafe. We get the pizza for our son's birthday parties and we also grab a slice on our way out. And their chocolate coated ice cream bars with nuts - to die for! Really. But the very best part of being a member? THEY SEND COUPONS!! =]
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
Prices vary, some are high others are good deals. Do comparisons to make sure you get the best deal. I hate the tester stations. They can be feeding troughs for many. Some of us just want to get through an aisle, get what we need, & get out. They keep the check outs moving fast which is nice & the employees have always been friendly.

Yelp
I've been a member here for awhile and just signed on again cuz I love Costco!! My faves: bakery items the variety of cheese liquor(cheaper here) the take & bake pizzas for 9.99(the margherita is fab) The basics are cheaper here too, I paid $1.52 for a gallon of milk. I could go on and on about this place. I love the samples they give out and just trying new things. Definitely worth checking out.

John B.

Yelp
We went here today. Great that they make you wear masks. BAD on social distancing. Cold room the WORST! People had zero respect, climbing over each other for items. We only go 4-5 times a year...glad that we don't have to do it again for a few months, jb

Yelp
I love this Costco!!! It is clean and the food is fresh. The people who give out tastes sold me on the Strawberry Salad, I brought 5 bags. The parking is plentiful, and the greeters greet you with a smile. I do hope they invest in advertisement with Groupon to offer a discount on membership. Checkout was fast and friendly. I always recommend this particular Costco to family and friends.

Yelp
Just like many other people in the world I have been tremendously affected by this pandemic. Due to this hardship I started to work with insta cart. I live in Lynwood Illinois about 30 mins from the Merrillville location. Friday morning I woke up at 5am to make it to Costco at 6am so that I could get a good batch. I received a $100 dollar batch and was very excited walking on the door. When I got to the door, I was asked to show my batch. No problem. Then the lady at the desk asked me to wear the paper apron around my neck. Because of this virus I was concerned and asked simply "Do I have to?" The lady immediately turned around and told the lady behind her what I had asked. Her name was MYRTLE "the supervisor". She came towards me full force and said "If you don't want to wear it, Get out my store" I replied " I only asked a question. You don't have to be so aggressive. Everyone is going through it right now, you should understand my concern and be a little compassionate" Myrtle then took things to another level and asked me to leave... I asked to speak to a supervisor because I did nothing. I did not yell. I don't curse EVER, so I didn't understand how we ended up there. Myrtle started laughing saying she was the supervisor. But she did bring a Spanish guy over. Her flunky. Young guy. Forgot his name. He wasn't "as" rude But by the time he made it to me I was in tears standing by the door. I had put on the apron after wiping it down with sanitizer. Yet the guy started chastising me. Told me I needed to take my headphones out. I said "ok that's new" but proceed to take them out. After that I stood there until he got done talking to me like a child. I asked could I go in now. Still in tears! He said yes!!! I walk from the back of the store to the front to get a cart and look behind me and it's the Spanish guy following me. He then says " You know I changed my mind, you can go " I was shocked because he just let me in and I did everything he asked. So I CALLED the police. Again this was a $100 dollar batch that I really needed and was previously excited about. I thought I was off to a good morning. Anyway the police came and of course they agreed with employees. Myrtle told the Spanish guy she "didn't feel comfortable and tell me to come back after 10am" So, I'm crying and she felt uncomfortable? Come back after 10am shows that I was not belligerent at all. I'm sure whoever is reading this may not be familiar with instacart but we CANNOT cancel batches once we start shopping. When you walk in the door they ask you to start your batch. That's what I did. When I got in my car insta cart thought I was lying and ended up reporting that my whole batch was "missing" and I got a bad review from the customer. For 4 hrs my account was placed on hold until they investigated it. Due to Myrtle being a Angry unprofessional black women... I missed out on more than $100 dollars and I want to stress that fact, because again it was 6am. It's a pandemic going on. I got up out my bed and drove 30 minutes to Indiana. She made me miss money for hours, yet she made hers. It's sad the way we are treating each other right now. As a large brand Costco I hope you can understand why this is so upsetting. I tried calling the company a few times and I can't reach a human. I also recorded the situation on my phone and have 17k followers. I only share positive content but If no call to action happens after this, I'm considering posting. I believe this is a good company. Who you have working for you is another story. I suggest if you ever need a supervisor visiting this store if it's Murder Myrtle RUN. She will kill the good vibes. She is not a good person. Never in a million years would I have thought asking one question would have escalated so far. I'm disgusted. Myrtle if you ever read this... I pray for you. I pray that your heart is softened & that you learn to have compassion for others I pray that your eyes ... See ... See another BLACK WOMAN that's 2x younger than you NEXT TIME hustling & you give her life through your words. I pray whatever you're going through you Use it to uplift the next generation. I pray you treat everyone with gentleness that you may need You never know when you're entertaining an Angel. May God have mercy on your soul.

Yelp
I love Costco! Everyone is so helpful! I can usually find what I need plus things I didn't know I needed.

Yelp
I don't have enough words to express how much I like Costco. From groceries to gas. They have everything one person could need. Awesome!

Yelp
Well I can definitely say go during the week, and not during a holiday. The shoppers here are just self absorbed and rude. My 1st visit I left annoyed with just being around the shoppers. The prices are higher then Sams club but the meat and seasoning section are much better then Sams. You'll also find special items that you can't find other places.

Yelp
I have been a member for years. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience. It's seems like the employee morale is very high and that transcends to their work performance. By employees going the extra mile it helps customers feel welcomed.

Yelp
Costco is one of the best shopping experiences around if you like getting deals. Other big box and electronic stores aren't afraid to raise their margins insane amounts and essentially rob you. Everything is so clean and the employees always just seem happy to help. I suspect because they are getting paid a fair wage. The food court is great and their return policy is still amazing. I haven't tried their auto shop yet but probably will soon. I would literally quit my job today to start working for Costco. It just seems like they have established a great company culture there. I wonder if this is the case with most Costco locations.

Yelp
I love Costco. I just love them. I've shopped with Costco over 10+ years and will continue to; even my casket at my funeral will be Kirkland Signature brand. They cater to the community they're built in and they have good prices for bulk items. Maaaaybe some things aren't the best priced, but most of their items are. The sweets that I indulge in enough of that they have in their bakery have always been great, the seafood I buy always comes out good, their meats that we use in our Asian dishes come out spectacular! The only issue I have is that they never call me back when I apply!!

Yelp
We are at costco every week and probably more than twice a week if I'm guessing right. My wife will only come here for her gas and she'll yell at me if I go anywhere besides Costco for gas because they always have the best prices in the area whether its at this location or any other Costco. The staff here is pretty helpful and the store is well organized. The real reason for the lack of the fifth star is because we will buy produce from here a lot and sometimes its bad within a day or two. That's disappointing and the truth is my wife makes me go back to return it which I despise doing so sometimes we are just throwing it out which is money in the garbage. Other than that, we really like shopping here and love the kirland brand items.

Yelp
Not all Costco's are the same, but I love each and every one of them. Let me tell you why I love this one in Merrillville. I love that there's a Costco AND a Meijer in Merrillville - giving me a place to go when the girl's gigging at Star Theater. DISCLAIMER: I'm going to make a horrible stereotype now; Please stop reading if you're easily offended. One reason I like this Costco is because the clientel are fairly homogeneous, and not of certain ethnic upbringings which teach them that it's OK to pick and choose your produce out of a box which is meant to be sold as a box. Really, this is a pet peeve of mine whenever I see people picking and choosing their mangoes/oranges/tomatoes/etc and placing smaller/uglier/moldy ones in another container and choosing bigger/prettier/riper ones to place into a box of 9 or 12 pieces of fruit/veg that they're buying. HAVE YOU NO SHAME? Anyways, there's none of THAT going on at this Costco, which led me to find the most beautiful pre-packed, un-picked over box of mangos at the extraordinary price of $.87ea. Also, there's no tax on food in Indiana - NO TAX! The liquor, beer and wine selection is decent, however slightly smaller than other Costco's and certainly less varieties and higher end bottles of wine or scotch than the Oakbrook and Lincoln Park Costco's. It's funny how they tailor their merchandise at times to the socioeconomics and cultural tastes of the area they're located in (ie: they don't sell $100 humidifiers like the Oakbrook Costco.) Final plus - THEY HAVE A GAS STATION AND IT'S DAMN CHEAP! So, if you're here to see a show at Star Theater, stop on buy, load up on tax-free food, booze and gas before heading back to Chicago.

Yelp
Love everything about costco. However this location has the worst customer service than any I've been to. Manager has gone as far to lie about no receipt changes blaming it on corporate. I called corporate customer service and they filed a warehouse complaint against the merrillville location. I will continue to shop there and will continue to file complaints if not completely satisfied. We pay to shop there and a few bad apples won't stop me from being a satisfied customer.

Yelp
I love Costco. Coming here for samples is fun and delicious. The prices are all pretty great because you buy in bulk. Also, the food they sell for you to eat there is cheap and not bad. Just make sure you have a membership card.

Yelp
Whenever I think, " I really wish they have ____ at Costco", during my next visit, whatdoyouknow, they have it! Just when I had a taste for firm organic tofu, wow!!, it's a new item :) When we needed a paint sprayer to paint our lovely popcorn walls, ohhhh, look what's now in stock! Time and time again this store never ceases to amaze me. We've purchased electronics, appliances, laundry detergent, booze, delicious meats and seafood, fresh produce (have you seen the size of their asparagus?), toothpaste (I just got 5 packs for $7.99!), garlic infused organic olive oil, I could go on forever! Extra bonus... they mail you coupons! On top of their great prices, expect to receive about 4 coupon packs per year for additional crazy savings. The coupons alone pay for the membership. The cafe rocks, and everything is sooooo cheap! For a quick meal, their $5 rotisserie chicken is huge and fabulous - large enough to feed a family. The chocolate dipped, almond-covered ice cream bar it sinful! The berry smoothie is so good I get a brain freeze every time, because I drink it too fast. Digital pictures only cost 16 cents to print!!! I can't print them at home that cheap. Plus, if you want to make those cards with a family photo, they do that too... Gas is usually 10 cents cheaper then anywhere else around! I usually frequent the Costco in Lincoln Park, but you can't buy gas there, and I have to give Costco 5 stars, so this is my tribute to the Costco homies in "the region".

Yelp
Please take this review from the single and party of one perspective. I don't think Costco was meant to attract the single 20?somethings of the world, because honestly the large bag of frozen chicken tenders have started to freezer burn. Someone like me that cooks for one and occasionally two doesn't necessarily get their money's worth. While I love some of their select items, it's very difficult for me to justify the membership price. Last year I went thrice. This year, if my neighbors happen to go, I simply tag along like their adopted child. If I drank more wine or had a healthy fascination for stock piling TP or cheese, then maybe I'd have more of a copacetic relationship with the chain grocer. I seriously think corporate would benefit from selling 5 and 10 day non-consecutive day passes...that's where the honey hole is! If you indoctrinate this idea corporate, please give me a shout out, until then...bulk on!

Yelp
I love shopping at Costco and rarely get out of there spending less than $400 but I have to rethink about buying produce and non frozen perishables from here. I expect more from Costco due to the fact I pay $110 a year to shop here. On my most recent trip I purchased a half gallon of half and half that expired 2 days after purchase and a 4 pack of Kirkland bacon that expired 2 days after purchase. Although I didn't buy any I noticed moldy raspberries, potatoes with all kinds of eyes growing out of them, and soft apples. They should deeply discount these short dated perishable items, donate or toss them

Yelp
This is a nice location. We enjoy the free samples when we go. They are also very sanitary with them. The prices are decent. The employees are friendly. I'm so glad we got a membership there!

Yelp
It's close to home. I love buying in bulk especially because I have a family of 5. Lots to choose from.

Yelp
Preface: I love Costco. I am possibly one of Costco's biggest fans. I spend $500-$700+per trip, amounting to well over $10,000 in the store per year, and if you include online purchases, total spending may be double that amount. However, in my experience shopping at five Costco locations in three states, the customer service at Merrillville is the absolute worst I have encountered. The two black women who man the customer service desk are unbelievably slow and inefficient. The younger one especially is absolutely inept and does not seem to value her job at all-- she chitchats with coworkers as if the customer isn't there, and takes close to 15 min to do a simple return. Whatever they are paying her on an hourly basis is too much, because of how little work she actually gets done. I understand that if you are an efficient worker, some socializing here and there doesn't make much of an impact on your productivity level, but if you are already slow, perhaps you should focus on doing your job. Part of the sales proposition that Cosco provides is the amazing return policy, because let's be honest, it is not always the lowest priced retailer. My basket size increases significantly because I am more willing to try new products through Costco, and perhaps discover a new love. But when some of those products inevitably don't work out, there needs to be a streamlined process through customer service. Of all the customer facing roles at Costco, customer service is most critical. The customer service desk at this location is so bad that I have begun diverting purchases to other retailers, or driving to a different Costco store location. I sincerely hope that the hiring manager does a better job of training and supervision, because as it stands currently, they are clearly asleep at the wheel. These sentiments are echoed in other customer reviews on Yelp-- love for Costco, distain for the customer service at this location. Personnel here needs an overhaul. Update: Finally encountered a capable, efficient, high quality customer service representative here-- Mohit. What a breath of fresh air, but unfortunately he is being moved to a different department. Thank you Mohit, for a job well done! I sincerely hope there will be others of your caliber to replace you at the customer service desk.
