The Quintessential Wholesale Club
It's easy to see why some shoppers go one way or the other, when it comes to Costco: they either avoid the warehouse like the plague, or they sing high praises and stockpile their basements and garages to prepare for the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust. For the uninitiated, Costco Wholesale provides a selection of optical wear, vitamins, body washes and shampoos, clothing, books and toys, miscellaneous indoor and outdoor furnishings, electronics for home and office, candy, clothing, produce, dairy, baked goods, seafood, meat, deli, canned items, snacks, paper products, cleaning agents and H2O in bulk packaging at semi-reasonably-discounted net costs. All this can be yours, if you can find parking.
The Teterboro Landing Costco has a horrendous parking situation, although it is much better than the prior location - Hackensack river front - and it makes its Clifton sister look like a CVS. This Bergen County warehouse experience features no internal liquor store, although a separate entity opened to the exterior east side of the building with a limited selection of wines and invisible spirits presence. This situation is undoubtedly caused by the ancient Blue Laws of Bergen, negatively impacting the internal sales of the store on Sundays; the store is incapable of properly separating its unavailable for purchase inventory each and every Sunday, partially due to poor staffing and layout.
This location does not feature an internal express checkout lane, so all shoppers are left to the mercy of rude patrons; they see you standing there with one item in your hands and make you wait an hour for them to get checked-out, even though they have two full carts with 700 items compared to your one. Unlike Sam's Club, Costco does not have a manager's station to ease lane traffic, and no employees enact an advanced checkout with portable scanner gun. Most days, however, a second checkout person assists with transactions and cart loading duties.
