Grocery Store Safety: Which Chains Are Doing It Best? - Eater

"Costco, too, has raised hourly base pay by $2. The policy was set to end mid-May, but an employee memo posted to Reddit suggests it's been extended through the end of the month." - Rachel Sugar

the tire shop guy that helped me was not nice he did not like his job. One of my favorite stores to visit in town. Great whole sale prices, good product availability. This warehouse in particular is my favorite because it seems to be bigger more spacious specially towards the back where the toilet paper and water is stocked. There is plenty of room to transit freely and with out obstructions. I guess this is weird to say but I really like the lighting of Costco I go to others stores and lighting it's dimmer and that's kind of depressing. The lighting here makes me feel almost as if I was out in daylight and immediately change into great mood. Prices are very reasonable. The one thing I wish I could change is the size of some of the products on their bakery I can't help having to freeze muffins cookies and partial cakes, we don't eat that fast. I definitively love their food court food is great affordable and delicious. Oh and the rosticery is always a plus sace money on roasted chicken and it's so delicious

We always love to go to Costco. Each trip we find something new or different than the previous trip. This time we went for the Ghost Energy drinks I like. They had some but the flavors had changed. I don't know if that's a seasonal thing or just what Ghost was providing at the time. We got our favorite chicken and supplements. The one thing I wish they would change is adding scan and go so we can skip the lines!

I had the most incredible experience at Costco recently, all thanks to Shane, the deli supervisor. From the moment I walked up to the deli counter, Shane greeted me with a smile that could light up the whole store. He took the time to ask what I was looking for and even offered some suggestions, which I truly appreciated. His level of customer service was above and beyond anything I’ve ever experienced, and it was clear he genuinely cared about making my shopping trip enjoyable. I felt like I was receiving VIP treatment, and it made my entire visit so much more special. Not only did Shane go out of his way to recommend some delicious items I hadn’t tried before, but he also made sure I got exactly what I wanted. I had a special request, and he didn’t hesitate for a second to make it happen, even though it was outside the usual deli offerings. He was patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly professional. As I stood there watching him expertly prepare my order, I could tell he was passionate about his job, and it made me feel confident that I was in good hands. It’s rare to see someone so dedicated and genuinely engaged in their work, and it truly made a difference. Shane’s outstanding service didn’t stop there – he even went the extra mile to check on me later in the store, making sure I was satisfied with everything and asking if I needed any further assistance. It was the kind of personalized service that made me feel like a valued customer, and it left me with a smile on my face. Because of Shane’s exceptional service, I will definitely be coming back to Costco more often. It’s not every day that you experience this level of care and dedication, and I can honestly say Shane turned my average trip into something unforgettable!

I have been so happy to have COSTCO 8 miles from my home. I buy all of my gas and food there!! Love the products. TODAY is Saturday, and I went in to buy paper towels, bath towels (which were on sale), milk, and ice cream for my husband. The lines were long, except for self-checkout. My cart was piled high with about 20 large items. I scanned my card and began checking MYSELF out. A tall woman with a price gun was zipping between customers. She came over to my cart, where I’d already scanned several items, and started looking through it. I asked if I could use her scanning gun, and she snapped, "NO, only I can do this." Okay. She turns and started checking things at the top of my cart. I stopped checking out and turned to ask if she was checking me out. She replied, "I checked the milk," then walked off to help someone else. I put the milk on the counter. A few minutes later, she returned and demanded, "Where is the milk and why are you ringing that plant food up because I already did." I told her, "You told me you rang up the milk!" She denied that she said that. I then suggested, "Why don't I stop, and you finish checking me out?" She hatefully replied, "No, you can finish." Then she walks off again. I was so frustrated and angry. My husband, who has a TBI, came over with the ice cream. I scanned it, and he started wrapping it in a towel in the place where you put items. The woman who was on the other side, runs back and unwraps the ice cream. SHE WALKS TO THE END end of my counter AND SCANS SOME BAR CODE. It hit me then: she thought I was stealing! Then WHEN the towels stopped ringing up ON SALE. I said, "Excuse me, the $2.00 discount didn't come off the towels." She said, "Well, there must be a limit, DID YOU LOOK." I SAID, NO, I DID NOT SEE A LIMIT. People were looking, and she mumbled something to another man in line who turned and laughed. I had her remove the towels and then checked out. She said, I can get this for you SWEETIE…I wanted out ASAP. I said I am very frustrated right now. When I got in line TO LEAVE THE STORE, I gave her my ticket. She stepped back and spent a moment. Then started taking EVERYTHING in my basket apart! I know for a FACT that something was done. I am furious, embarrassed, and have NEVER had anything like this happen. I very well may go back to Sam's Club (where I normally shopped). I called for a manager, and he just said, "Thank you for letting me know," I am so mad. Goodbye, Costco card, and gas!

We love Costco and the products they carry. Almost all of the employees are friendly, sometimes when you get up front to check out they can be jerks. One guy named Nate isn’t so friendly or maybe I caught him on a bad day. Either way I think the customer service here could be better.

This place is amazing!! I came here with my father and he showed me around! They have huge selections of organic food and a variety of everything, every employee was super helpful explaining stuff to us and telling us where things were!

I am not impressed with their customer service in the hearing aid dept. First appointment had the hearing test done that went fine. My second appointment I scheduled it with the receptionist at 5:00. I get a call at 5:00 asking me if I am coming to my appointment. I was walking in the door when she called me. Then she had two different hearing aids out putting them in my ear so I can try them on again. I asked what was she doing? She said receptionist said you were undecided no I never said that. I had bought the hearing aids and she had to set them up and everything which took her a bit of time to do. When it came to her showing me how to use the app and educate me on the hearing aids I felt like she rushed through it. This is my first time buying hearing aids. Third appointment I had was to make any changes my appointment was at 10:00, I arrived at 9:40 and was quickly brought back. I had lots of questions my appointment ran to 10:45 and he was sighing out loud because he had another appointment. Not happy first time hearing aid purchaser. .

Been coming here for the last year and this place is terrible. No boxes to carry your stuff out . If you want a hotdog and a trash bags you MUST get a cart for those 2 items no bags no nothing. I had 2 things in both my hands while they were attempting to check my receipt. A box of trash bags and a hotdog I had to set the hotdog on top of the box and immediately it fell outside. Unless you plan on spending 50+ minutes and purchasing $500 worth of groceries don't come here go to Sam's there significantly more friendly to those who aren't buying for a family of 8. Overall I've had good and bad experiences here but I used to use sams all the time and I much prefer the selection there than here. I don't plan on renewing my membership unless I have to buy $500 worth of groceries. As a single person household maybe in 5-15 years

Yelp
First off, James has always been a fan of Costco. Decades ago I went to my first one outside Ottawa Canada with my mom and aunt and I was totally impressed with the selection of items for sale, especially the local brands. Ever since I've been a fan and I was one of the first to sign up for a membership when they opened in Tulsa. I've always preferred Costco to Sam's for a variety of reasons, the Kirkland brand has always been better than Sam's Choice and quite frankly Costco takes better care of its facilities. For instance, I've never had a crappy cart at a Costco whether it's in Oklahoma or California or Washington. This location in North Tulsa is perfect for me as I don't have to travel across town through the horrible traffic south of 91st and Memorial. If I have a gripe it is with how Costco figures what to stock. They basically stock what the local populace consumes. For example at this location when it first opened there was a decent selection of seafood. I was able to buy some nice tuna steaks and other fish I prefer at a very reasonable price. Now you are basically limited to salmon, shrimp and some variety of white fish. When asked why there is no more tuna, it is because nobody in the area buys it. Same with a number of other items. Nobody wants to buy the aluminum water bottles from Rain or other suppliers in order to reduce microplastics in your diet and environment, so your only option for portable water is in plastic bottles. When I travel around the country I always hit up local Costco's because they will always have something different than they do in Tulsa. Pricing is also an issue on some items. For example I can buy almond butter much cheaper in California and Arizona than I can here. I can get two large containers there for the price of a single large container here. In the end basically you are penalized for the crap taste of the locals. Gas is usually about $.20 cheaper a gallon at Costco than the QT cartel making it a great value. Overall I'm a big fan of Costco, but Costco in Tulsa could use a bit more work.

Yelp
We love Costco. Great place for cheaper fuel. They have a very nice selections of meats, home goods, and snacks. This is our go-to place for milk, butter, snacks, and comfy lounge clothes.

Yelp
After seeing a "special" for a discounted Membership to Costco, I decided to go ahead and purchase. There was some problem with online sign up, so I sent to the store and was told that they would not honor the special online membership purchase price b/c it was from a 3rd party. But went ahead & purchased one from the store. I was rather disappointed after looking at merchandise on pretty much all the aisles. Costco was really not much cheaper than Walmart or other local store's prices. It seems that Costco has a larger variety of big ticket items than Sam's Club, like furniture, mattresses, appliances. But if looking for everyday items that most of us use all the time, like milk, eggs, butter, meats, frozen foods, I think Sam's Club does a better job at stocking those types of staples. Sam's Club also has better pricing for meats. But Costco does offer a Money-Back Guarantee on Membership, so if you cancel before 1 year, you can get your money back if you're not happy. Also Costco has special sales prices, but as they usually are only for 2-4 days, it makes shopping more frustrating. Just give discounted prices all the time. That's why people purchase Memberships!

Yelp
Costco has the best policies. I purchased a leaf blower a few weeks ago for $249. A couple weeks later an instant rebate for $50 appeared on the same leaf blower. I brought the leaf blower in thinking I would have to return it, and then re-buy the new one at the lower price, but they simply issued a credit to my account for the instant rebate. That's awesome customer service. Thank you Costco.

Yelp
It's a Costco, so you know what you're getting. It's new, so everything is fresh and sparkly. It's also the 2nd biggest Costco in the nation, so yeah.... they have a LOT of stuff. Except for chicken, I can pretty much move most of my business from Sam's to Costco. I just don't like chicken in those vac sealed plastic bags. People have been really friendly the two times I've been there, and miracle of miracles, we went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. And the close proximity to 169 beats the hell out of the trip to Bixby.

Yelp
The new location in North Tulsa is amazing. So clean and friendly staff. I highly recommend this location for all your shopping needs.

Yelp
I went to the Costco in Owasso. I thought I might get something to eat before shopping. I seen a opening where the customers take carts through. A employee started yelling at me that I couldn't walk through here to the snack bar. I thought this is very rude to be yelling at customers. If this is a rule you may need to put up signs where you want people to walk. The employee was very unprofessional.

Yelp
Costco is great but watch out for the fountain drinks. The lemonade and Star E and sprite all dispensed some black stuff. Maybe dirty filters ? Not sure I told one of the workers. They pretended to mess with the machine but didn't do anything. Didn't even see them fill up a cup to see if it was still happening. Snapped some pics so y'all know what to look out for

Yelp
This place has no scan and go app. They have mostly the same things as Sam's, but the constant vigilance over cards and ID's is very annoying. Having to go though checkout and be marketed to every trip is beyond inconvenient. The GM, Bill is also a sanctimonious arrogant human being lacking any semblance of retail sales skills. We cancelled our membership today because of him. The combination of annoyance and Bill getting in the way of his staff by acting as a task master to the poor staff to ensure the annoying policies are carried out in the most disruptive way possible is way too much to put up with when Sam's is right down the road.

Yelp
2nd largest Costco warehouse in the country. Clean, bright inside. Plenty of parking. Gas station, food court, hearing aid center, and optical services onsite. Very competitive prices.
