Cotswold House Hotel (Chipping Campden, Cotswolds) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Cotswolds present travellers with a dizzying array of country house hotels, from rustic hunting lodges to elegant period pieces to contemporary-styled designer boutiques. How could one more country house possibly hope to stand out? Cotswold House’s solution is to present a bit of all things to all people — this is an eminently customisable experience, offering separate menus of options for bedding weight, pillow thickness, bath amenities, and minibar items." - Tablet Hotels

Cotswold House Hotel | Best places to stay in Oxford |

"Chipping Campden is one of the Cotswold’s most picturesque towns, and this is its best hotel; a honey-hued Regency building and adjoining period houses, fronting onto the town’s main street. Bedrooms are chic and unfussy, with a refreshing lack of chintz, spread out along the maze of corridors, and as charming, stand-along cottages in the garden. The Bistro on the Square is a lively spot for dinner or cocktails (there are 70 types of gin to choose from), but the cherry on the cake is the enchanting garden that stretches behind the hotel, with loungers and deckchairs dotted among flower-filled borders. At the far end, the former coach house is home to the hotel’s excellent spa, offering soothing Decleor treatments. " - Annabelle Thorpe

Great location . Beautiful grounds . Lovely pubs and restaurants in high st ||Only 25mins drive to Stratford||The bedroom was lovely. Very comfortable bed . Great views ||Breakfast was really nice except i had full english . Got 1 sausage. 1 piece of bacon and half a mushroom ( where did the other half go ! ) only had white or brown toast . No sourdough. And when i ask for a cappuccino i was told “ its £4 extra “ we paid £150 per night , would expect free coffee and more than half a mushroom and 1piece of bacon ||Restaurant staff really nice as was the bartender. Reception staff ok . Every day I passed reception i said “ hi how are you “ they said fine , not one person in 2 days asked “ how are you , how is your stay “ on leaving no one said good by or asked how our stay was ( busy on the phone ) ||Overall we had a great time . Lovely hotel and great location. Would definitely come back

This hotel is absolutely stunning. This was the wedding venue this weekend for my son and his beautiful bride. The hotel were amazing it was so special||Rooms are gorgeous literally everything you need. My son had a cottage with hot tub was beautiful. My daughter was upgraded to a cottage room honestly stunning. The gardens are beautiful with room to be quiet or space where people can sit together. ||The food was incredible and the cocktails are so good. Well stocked bar. Breakfast was also extremely good everything you could wish for.||Loved my stay so much would like to go back to have a look around Chipping Camden and I would definitely stay here

I can’t comment on the rooms as we didn’t stay. We had AFTERNOON TEA here. The service was great, polite and friendly. The scones were the best part of the afternoon tea. Warm with cream and jam - they were fluffy and not too heavy. Sadly we found there were too many cake options and not enough sandwiches/savoury. There were no savoury pastry options, understanding all afternoon teas are different just found with 5/6 smaller (brought in not home made) cakes the experience was very sweet. So if you like cake you’ll love it 😊

We had our small wedding at this gorgeous venue at the end of August. We had a perfect day , the accomodation, the room, the staff were all brilliant. We had a lovely wedding breakfast accompanied with great paired wines. The staff were superb and we would like to thank Mandy for all her help and support on the day. Would definitely recommend the Cotswold House Hotel , we look forward to returning for our first anniversary.

Having worked here many years ago I was really looking forward to returning. Not much had changed except the staff had become so much less welcoming. Apart from the wonderful waitresses we found it had become just a bit "stuck up". The barman was pretty unfriendly, the guy who checked us out barely had a word except for a passing thank you. The hotel was just pretty characterless. It was as if they had decided to go up market but had forgotten to tell the staff to be nice..|Unfortunately what ruined our stay entirely was the fact that they have no double beds. if you, like us, want a double bed all the beds are single mattresses zipped together on 2 single bed frames. Unfortunately ours hadn't been pushed together and was without doubt one of the worst nights sleep we'd had in quite a while. The bedroom needed just a bit of TLC - it looked tired.|The evening's menu was OK except that the cheapest steak and chips started at £39. My wife had the Fillet at £47 and it just wasn't worth it. When a fillet steak at Marco Pierre white in London is the same price you know you are being ripped off!|We left feeling massively disappointed in that apart from the lovely waitresses there was absolutely nothing to return for..

You can't fault the location of the hotel or the service. The staff were lovely. However, I ve got to say I was underwhelmed by our room for the price. When you looked around doors and walls in the hallway and landing there were loads of marks. The paint on the inside of our room window couldnt have seen a lick of paint in years. The radiator was grey. The towel rail and thermostat were decrepid and old. The bath panel was an eyesore. Our hearts sank when we walked into our room. Still the bed was comfortable. I used to be a caretaker/maintainece man at a thirty room hotel. We used to have a plan of works to keep internal and external fixtures and fittings in good up keep. When we left our car on the back car park we walked towards the back of the hotel. My brother in law said, well this place hasn't seen a paint brush in years. If anyone is on Chipping Campden highstreet, take a look up at the top floor windows at the front of the building or the dowstairs ground floor dining room doors. They don't get in that state in a short period of time. Paying nearly £300 a night I didn't think it was too much to ask to have a high standard of finish. Such a shame.

A mixed bag of a visit. We met some great staff, and the guy at the cocktail bar was very helpful and overall we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was good. However, the definition of toast needs revisiting; the cheap bread was not toast, and then there was nonsense around the bloomer toast advertised as a main breakfast dish... You couldn't have that as just toast without a big discussion.||The biggest challenge and loss of rating was the tiredness of the bathroom in our room. The room was ok and had clearly had a "lick of paint" but the bathroom was very tired. The room was dusty (lamps etc) and on a personal level I do not understand the need for cushions on a bed... where do they get out each time? ||Location is good for the area and the many gardens nearby.

Unfortunately no working aircon, despite advertisement. I contacted the hotel to try resolve weeks ago, but have had no response. ||Positives: The ‘Griggs’ Junior suite cottage was really aesthetically wonderful and cosy by appearance. ||It’s a shame it was insufferably hot due to no working aircon and the bed shook if the other person so much as lifted their head, rendering the first night unsleepable. Maintenance couldn’t fix this, so we were offered a different room on the second day, which was a suite inside the hotel. ||The suite room was beautiful, the bed wasn’t cheap and the aircon worked.||I would recommend booking a suite if possible, as you receive the value of the price paid. ||The hotel bar/restaurant could do with a refurbishment. The location of the hotel however, is wonderful, with great local restaurants nearby.

Yelp
This Hotel came highly regarded of which we saw parts. The gardens in the back our pretty, the buffet breakfast was generous, staff were pleasant, and the downtown location was very convenient. However, overall hotel room comfort did not meet expectations. When we checked in, our room was very hot due to the sun coming in the windows. The AC didn't work properly and the front desk was very slow in finding someone to solve the problem. Because we faced the street, it was too noisy to have the windows open at night to get fresh air. Perhaps I would have felt differently if given a room in the back with a view of the gardens. This was our least favorite hotel out of the six we stayed in during a 7-day walking tour.

Yelp
Lovely hotel with comfy beds and fantastic bath and shower! Bathtub fills up fast and so soothing after a long day! The Fig restaurant was good and the bar/pub ok except for the jarring rock/blues that was blaring. Only problem was they are very understaffed so the wait times are long. I made an appointment at the spa but a customer before me was late and I couldn't wait the extra 30 minutes they were behind so I was so very disappointed....especially since they didn't offer anything like a percentage off on a product or service.....they didn't seem to care.

Yelp
This review is particularly for Afternoon Tea at FIG restaurant only. We stopped by after strolling around Chipping Campden without making prior reservation. The staffs were courteous and kindly checked for availability for us. We then were greeted and seated soon after. The service at Fig was great. The tea selections are great. The High Tea set are delicious and quite a lot! I actually enjoyed the scones quite a lot even though I don't like it that much in the States. Quality, Service, and Experience definitely worth more than 22£ per person.

Yelp
Cotswold House is the cat's meow...! The service is impeccable. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The ambiance is romantic and inviting. The grill is lovey and offers tasty meals. And, the setting - right smack in the middle of town - is gorgeous. A bottle of champagne was wating for us upon arrival. Bottled waters were provided with the evening turn-down service. And, the beds and bathroom in our room made us feel like we were in our own mini-spa. I'd return in a heartbeat. This is The Cotswolds. This is an English Rose amongst roses in the breathtaking English countryside. Yes, it is the 'COT's' meow... ;)

Yelp
Me and my wife stayed here for three nights in June. The location is spectacular and the rooms are extremely romantic. The breakfasts were wonderful. Our only complaint was that there was loud music in front of the hotel both our first night until midnight and all day the following two days. The first night was the Olympicks and the second day was a fair, so just beware of these events before booking.
