8 Newest Restaurants to Check Out in Savannah, Georgia - Eater Carolinas

"The team behind popular new American restaurant Cotton & Rye is stretching its culinary creativity with a food truck named Hot Rye. The mobile kitchen, which premiered on April 23 outside of the restaurant, serves fun lunch items like chili cheese latkes, Nashville hot chicken sandwiches, and a Jewish banh mi with chopped liver spread and corned beef tongue." - Kiki Dy

13 Best Restaurants in Savannah

"Cotton & Rye is a contemporary American restaurant in a former bank—you can still see the door to the safe. Located in an up-and-coming neighborhood, it was one of the first dining establishments to open outside the tony historical district. The restaurant bakes its own bread, grinds its own meat, and sets wine pairings to all of it—the whole menu elevates Southern classics in new ways. If you want to see that elevation in action, make sure to order the stuffed Carolina trout." - Barbara Skidmore

The waiter had the detail of an engineer in describing things. The wife had me on the app with her shrimp and grits excelling over my octopus despite how good it was once I got into the jalapeño scrudge. With entrees came a new round, though. I went for the coulette/picana and got scared when they wouldn't do medium rare+; the last coulette I got medium rare was underdone so I hesitantly went for medium. Fear not! the chef said,.and it came out, and it was good. I took a bite and it was okay... then my tongue said "hang on a sec...", and things settled.... or something started to wake up... and my taste buds said "yooooo" as the dance party started. See menu snip so I don't have to type the party attendees out. My entree took redemption over the wife's app.

On my Anniversary we ordered Wings, smash burger, collard greens and fried chicken. The food was amazing and Olivia, our server was top tier. I really enjoyed this Restaurant.

Google
Great place for dinner. We had the shrimp and grits (amazing), seasonal crudo (excellent), smash cheeseburger (excellent), vegetable lasagna, and peanut butter pie (pretty good). Everything we got, except the pie, was gluten-free.

Google
Visited for our anniversary last night and had a wonderful experience and meal! For starters we got an off menu oyster special, which was so good it made us order the crudo next! Both fresh and delicious! I got the fried chicken and my husband got the pork shank special. The fried chicken was well seasoned and crispy. The pork shank was fall of the bone tender! To end the meal we got the peanut butter pie which is a must have if you’re a peanut butter lover! To top it all off our server Brenden was wonderful! He was so nice and well spoken and took extra time to explain and elaborate on any items we were interested in! Can’t wait to come back and try more from Cotton and Rye!

We visited Cotton & Rye and tried the wings, smash burger, mac & cheese, and beef carpaccio. The wings, burger, and mac & cheese were all fresh and full of flavor—definitely hits. However, the beef carpaccio was a miss for us. It initially came out frozen, though the staff quickly replaced it. Their take on carpaccio is quite different from the traditional style, with barely any actual beef—personally, I wouldn’t recommend it. That said, our server Olivia was absolutely amazing—attentive, friendly, and on top of everything. Despite the carpaccio, I’d still come back to try more from the menu because the overall experience and service were great.

Came here for my husband's birthday. We ate so much food, wanted to try as much as possible. Had the tartare, delicious. Crab rice was good, tomato based. Grits were so cheesy and had a nice spice. My husband is not a huge fish fan but he trying more. He got the trout and it was amazing. I got the steak with truffle sauce on the side because I'm not a fan of truffle. It was really good and I'm glad our waitress suggested it on the side. Speaking of, Asia was so kind and helpful. She gave great recommendations.

Google
Our favorite restaurant in Savannah by far. We have been regulars since they opened and the consistency in quality is second to none. Amazing flavor in everything I have ever tried. It is food love made by people who love food. What's more, every staff member from hostess to server to bartender is a pure joy to be served by and seem to genuinely care about your culinary experience, which sadly is rare these days. The dining experience is so defined that even the atmospheric background music selection adds to the pleasure of the meal. Ask for the dessert menu early because you will not want to miss the delights it offers, even to take with you as you depart. And cocktails are always mixed to perfection. Making reservations is preferred as a line to get a table is not a rarity, but there is first come first serve seating at the bar if you are lucky enough to beat the masses that already know the beauty of this restaurant.

Nice setting place is a little echoish can be hard to hear at times, but still good ambiance. Was there celebrating family birthday. We had the shrimp and grits and wings as starters. The sauce on the wings were really good and they were cooked to perfection! The shrimp and grits were very good as well. Far as the main meal i myself had the duck, it was well seasoned and had a lil crisp to it, which I liked the sauce paired with the succotash was a great combination. The other guest had the fried chicken to which they all agreed the breading(skin) was cooked well with a crunch to it, however the chicken itself seemed to lack flavor. We also had the greens and beans which FOR ME was a lil sweet for my taste buds but the others enjoyed it. Far as dessert i kept it simple with the raspberry sorbet to which i was pleased the other had the coconut bread pudding which I tried and it was good as well. All in all had a great time and will definitely be back. Our server "E.A" took care of us and guided us through the menu, she was fantastic.

Yelp
Came back to visit and was pleasntly able to try many more things on the menu. we ordered: Chicken wings: 100/10. So well seasoned, hot, and delicious. Serisouly some of the best ive had. Burger and fries: 7/10, the special sauce was super delicious, the burger just wasnt special Shrimp and grits: 9/10, definetly not the best in savannah as claimed, but delicious nontheless market fish (battered catfish): 6/10, lacking flavor, cooked well Chicken thighs, potato cracklins, mac and cheese: 10/10 WOW! the least expensive entree, and boy was it outstanding. The mac and cheese is phenomenal, and it pairs so well with everything on the plate. Savannah red rice: 10/10, wow! super flavorful and paired well with everything on our plates black eyed peas: 10/10 very flavorful cheesy grits: 6/10, a little bland unless paired with other stuff. Overall, our server was so sweet and attentive and the food was spectacular. I will definetly be returning!

Yelp
A nice sit-down place, they did not have a wait and we were able to get seated immediately when we went at around 7pm on a Sunday. It was peach week, so we had to get the peach soup, and try their shrimp and grits. The waitstaff also recommended that we get the wings, which is a James Beard award winning recipe. They said that the fried chicken is more of a traditional southern fried chicken, and that the wings are breaded differently, and uses a distinct, slightly stinky sauce. The shrimp and grits were lovely, they had a solid crust of cheese on top. Peach soup was great, probably not worth what we paid for it, but great nevertheless. The wings were quite nice, the sauce was slightly pungent but not offensive to my nose, with a strong aftertaste of honey and notes of something fruity , and was earthy and spiced. I would still prefer a korean fried chicken with soy garlic, but this wasn't bad. Entirely unrelated to the meal, the bathroom situation in this restaurant is something else, though... They have two single occupancy bathrooms, one of which was occupied by someone for most of my meal, and there was a constant line outside the door. I noticed that one of the servers seemed to need the bathroom pretty badly, and every time the line dissipated, she would come by and check the bathrooms, but there would always be someone inside both of them. There is obviously not enough bathroom capacity for the restaurant. I'm quite glad that they had provided wet napkins for us to wipe our hands with after eating the chicken.

Yelp
Cotton and Rye had a delicious menu offering. We loved everything we tasted. We also spoke to the tables next to us asking what they ordered because everything on their plates also looked delicious. The service was great. The cocktails were tasty! The bathrooms were nice and clean. The reason for 4 stars: The restaurant was pretty small with a larger outdoor dining area that they tried to close in with fans and plastic walls. I appreciate this effort, BUT we were seated in a corner that was hard to get in and out of. There were flies everywhere! We were swatting at flies our whole meal. Overall, we will return, but now we know about the seating situation and can make a request to be seated inside or near a fan.

Yelp
They have a private parking lot right next to their building. Cute little spot inside, looks like they converted the garage into an outside dining area. We are the bar instead because they only had room for those who made reservations. The vault in the corner was super cool, looked like people can rent the room for private events. The crispy chicken wings were delicious! You can see the crispiness in the picture. I had the fish of the day with savannah red rice. The drinks were delicious! Had me a bidi bidi bom bom and I suggested my husband the Miami Nice.

Yelp
I have been a regular here going on 6 years. This place feels like the definition of comfort. The staff treat you as a family member. I can't stress enough how the amazing the staff here is. Their food is top notch; from the chicken thighs, the burger, their rotation of different fish, and the consistency of their James beard award winning wings makes this place stand out. Their building is an old bank and to dine in the vault is truly a special experience. If you can please visit them and experience this place as it truly is a glorious gem within Savannah!!!

Yelp
Okay, Cotton & Rye is AMAZING. Based on previous reviews and photos, I decided to make a reservation for our party of 8 for my husband's birthday dinner. (Very glad I made this pretty far in advance because they book up quickly.) We walked in and were immediately seated and had a truly phenomenal server. Some of us shared a bottle of wine, others got beers - everything came quickly and without any issue. We asked for recommendations on appetizers and main courses because it was just so hard to decide -- everyone loved everything and we all were very happy with our decisions. The wings were *chefs kiss* and my husband was obsessed with his steak. We ate way too much (as you can see from photos) and enjoyed every bite of our desserts, too. Ambiance: not too fancy, very chill, pretty; we were on the covered/enclosed patio area but inside was really nice (our table was too big at our reservation time). We felt very comfortable and were able to joke around with our server and get some recommendations for late night drinks & music, too.

Yelp
I recently made a reservation for my anniversary and from the moment we walked in the door we felt so welcomed, everyone greeted us and told us to make ourselves at home. Our waitress was amazing, drinks were delicious and the food was divine! My wife literally danced in her seat when she bit into the fried chicken thighs. We are literally raving about the place to everyone and already making plans to come back soon!! I would give 10 stars if I could!!
google avatar

Deidra R.

Yelp
Maybe we ordered the wrong thing? We both ordered the market fish and it was just okay. Nothing spectacular, but not terrible. The winners for us were the cornbread and, if I were reviewing the bartender alone, it would be a five-star review. Our server was nice, but again, not spectacular. The chicken wings were very good, but not enough to make me want to return.

Yelp
One of the best meals that we had in Savannah! Although it was the furthest out from where we were staying, Cotton & Rye was worth it. Everyone is so nice and service is very fast! We made a reservation and got to come right in when they opened. You can dress up or more casual- it is not an uptight dress code. There is outdoor dining that is lined with plastic drapes and indoor dining. Outdoor dining has fans and it's very comfortable! They have a large drink menu! Shrimp & Grits starter- 10/10 Absolutely delicious! They baked it like a Mac and cheese and the flavors were delicious. Make sure you order it. Award Winning Chicken Wings - 10/10! The wings were crispy and flavorful! They were not too spicy but they had a great balance between sweet and savory. This is a must try! Get the wings!!! They are so good, but they are mildly spicy. Very satisfied and will be back! The waiter graciously split our chicken thighs and mac and cheese order into two plates for sharing. The mac and cheese was to die for. Absolutely loved the vinegary side of greens. I wasn't a fan of the rye cornbread, just skip it. Would love to return next time we are in town

Yelp
It was so good, I wanted to review this restaurant ASAP. GO, YOU MUST! Everything from the welcoming when you walk in, to the leaving the building was on point. Really great service all around. The food was nothing short of spectacular. I had the panzenella cesar and trout, my husband had the shrimp bisque and roast. Really, the best we have ever tasted for everything. We both had the signature Old Fashioned, and that didn't disappoint either. Again, Go You Must!

Yelp
Our dining experience at Cotton & Rye was definitely the highlight of our weekend trip to Savannah. After a full day of eating heavy and drinking sugary boozy drinks, we enjoyed the refreshing and delicious meal at Cotton & Rye. Parking looked daunting but we found a spot in the open parking lot. Drink menu is limited but I loved my cocktail - the Rabbits Don't Wear Glasses was super interesting - nothing I've ever had in a gin cocktail before. And the Ooh Look, Watermelon was super refreshing and fruity. We started with apps to share - the crispy chicken wings & the dill cured salmon. I love how all the flavors came together in one tasty bite in the salmon board. BUT THOSE CHICKEN WINGS?!? Holy crap. So freaking delicious - crispy and saucy and amazing. Do NOT miss out on ordering these. Entrees: fried chicken thighs were crispy and the accompanying hot honey sauce is perfection. Also loved the trout and pork ragu. Ok did we not like anything? Nope. Dessert was the Georgia Peaches & Cream and the perfect way to end the meal. If you haven't been to Cotton & Rye in Savannah, ADD THIS ONE TO YOUR LIST!

Yelp
Holy shit. Hi five for literally everything. Wings, shrimp and grits, chicken thighs.... Hot honey. On point.

Yelp
My childhood friend that had visited Savannah before me recommended Cotton & Rye. Her recommendations never disappoint so we found ourselves here for dinner Saturday 3.23.24 5pm. Service was perfect from the initial greeting of the hostess right thru the entire dinner. Patrick was our server. The interior is clean and attractive. Cocktail selection was varied. I had a hard time choosing. The Chamomile Corpse was so bright and divine. I loved it. Food was spectacular. I never eat fried chicken but I had a feeling I should at Cotton & Rye. I was right. We could not fit dessert. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Excellent choice. My friend and I decided to try several appetizers and sides along with dessert. We started with their two salads and forgot to take photos but loved the house made ricotta with cornbread and strawberries. Shrimp and grits were delicious along with the burnt rosemary cornbread and fried Brussels with house made horseradish. The cornbread was delicious with maple butter. Fantastic peanut butter pie to end it all with. I definitely would recommend trying this if in Savannah.

Yelp
One of the best meals that I had in Savannah! Although it was the furthest out from where I was staying, Cotton & Rye was worth it. I wasn't too hungry so we did appetizers. Buttermilk Cornbread - 9/10. The honey butter was delicious and the cornbread was warm and had good texture and flavor. All the portions were good! I left full. It was busy on a Saturday evening so we sat at the bar because we didn't have reservations. We still got pretty quick service and got to see the bartender in action!

Yelp
Food was very OK. Wings weren't that great. Very crispy, sauce was very heavy but flavor wasn't that impressive. Shrimp and grits was pretty awful but random cheesy bites made it edible. The cornbread was the highlight of the meal with the rosemary. The Caesar salad wasn't bad either but the dressing left a bit to be desired. Honestly I wanted to give this 2 stars because I was seated next to a VERY loud family that echoed through the patio and made dinner miserable with their screaming children. Pretty bad experience and I wish the food could've made it worth it but it didn't.

Yelp
First night in Savanah we chose Cotten & Rye because it was the closest restaurant on our chow downs list to our Airbnb. And admittedly, I'm a sucker for any sort of James Beard accolade, which this place has for its chicken wings. We were able to make a last minute reservation, and from the looks of it it seemed like it was the last available seating available in the entire restaurant when we arrived. This converted bank building space was jammin to the max for a weeknight. Great hostess reception, as we were warmly greeted and seated promptly and that just set the tone for the service we would receive throughout our stay. Our server was excellent, on top of everything and full of earnest recommendations, unlike me at this point, unfortunately I cannot remember his name, but he was awesome from start to finish. Started with their riff on a Mai Tai, Old Fashioned and a local beer. Both cocktails were outstanding and a solid 10; it's always impressive when a restaurant has a strong cocktail program in place, it sets the tone for high expectations when moving to the food portion of a dining experience, so it can be a hard act to follow. As an aside, they have a solid wine list, next time... Now for the edibles. SHRIMP & GRITS, CHEESEBURGER, SPICED SWEET POTATOES, MAC & CHEESE, BUTTERMILK RYE CORNBREAD, BRUSSEL SPROUTS. All had amazing texture and flavor profiles, not one of these items missed a beat, all solid 10's, except for one, the AWARD WINNING (FOR REAL) CRISPY CHICKEN WINGS, this otherworldly dish is off the numbers scale. I'm not even a big chicken wings aficionado, but these wings, adorned with spicy honey, sumac, chipotle morita (and maybe crack!?!) are a once in a lifetime must have, we ordered another. Too full for dessert, next time. We started to worry that all the other restaurants on our list for our trip would not hit the same high note; and they didn't. We even went back late one evening after dinner at another place for some cocktails and sides (did I mention the Chicken Wings?) at the bar. Again, service, cocktail and food, stellar! If you ever find yourself in Savannah, this is a MUST GO TO, even if you don't find yourself in Savannah, make it a point to go to Savannah to eat here.

Yelp
Food and service were both great, although it was pretty noisy. Recommend the smoked trout appetizer, gazpacho soup and mushroom gumbo
google avatar

Yelp
Omg delicious! The shrimp and grits were my fave, but very. Very decadent. The bacon bits and broiled cheese were so delicious. The pork shank was so tender as well, but it was a huge portion of meat. I actually found the cornbread a bit dry. Service was warm and kind.

Yelp
I had such a great meal tonight at Cotton & Rye. We started with the wings, they had great flavor and were so crispy. I couldn't stop eating them. I had the burger which was very good and was very juicy. I was so full from the wings I couldn't eat much of my burger but I took it home for a treat later. Everyone at the table liked what they had and all left full and happy.

Yelp
Found this restaurant via a google search and it was awesome! It's definitely off the beaten path and too far to get to walking if you are staying on the riverfront so plan to uber back & forth. We had a 6:45 pm reservation and were seated in the room where you walk in near the bar. I loved the vibe & décor of the restaurant. It was very lively inside. Our server was fantastic the entire meal. She was so friendly and gave us great recommendations. I can't remember which cocktails we tried and that menu isn't online however they were good drinks. There were several things we wanted to try so we ordered way more food that we needed for just two of us. To start, we shared the chicken wings. They are worth the hype - I loved the sauce and the chicken breading was tasty. For our mains, I got the shrimp & grits as my entrée and my fiancé got the bone in chop, along with sides of the cornbread and green beans. Everyone thing was the delicious - the shrimp & grits was very rich so I could not finish it but it was awesome. The pork chop was juicy and tender. The pecans on the green beans were a nice touch. My only regret is that we didn't have a microwave in our hotel to reheat our leftovers. We are very happy we stopped in for dinner during our trip. I'd definitely recommend this

Yelp
Another favorite of ours every staff member was kind and helpful the food always great the award winning wings live up to that as well the bartender was great and made our drinks perfect

Yelp
I have been in Savannah for two weeks for now and I have to hold myself back from stopping at cotton and rye daily to give the other restaurants a chance. I was advised by almost ALL the locals to stop here and that I had to have their wings. Their wings, by far, are the best wings I have ever had. I honestly cannot describe them because nothing will do it justice besides eating them. I also had the red bean risotto that was excellent. It was, most likely, the smallest main plate they offered and I knew I was going to have the wings so I ordered it. There are other things I would want to try on the menu but I need to find space or someone to share the wings with. Those will always be ordered by me. The service was great, awesome waiters and bartenders. Friendly staff and setting. A must from me if you're in Savannah, Georgia.

Yelp
Had dinner at Cotton & Rye. The restaurant is nice and we were able to snag seats in the patio. Ordered the massive (thing is about 2 inches thick) pork chop with collard greens. The pork chop was cooked really well and the greens were spicy and flavorful. My wife ordered the steak frites and said it was average. Service was excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
Came her due tot he good ratings and it did not disappoint. Service was good and atmosphere was professional and relaxed. Food was very good. No complaints on any of the dishes but the corned bread I ordered was a standout. Overall I'd recommend for a nice dinner or date.

Yelp
Not as good as we thought it was going to be (based on the amazing reviews). The good: - The chicken wings are amazing - Waiter was very friendly - Good parking - Great ambience The bad: - The cheeseburger was underwhelming. We were surprised that it was only one thin patty (all of the pictures showed two patties). It tasted good, but it was honestly no better than what you would get at Five Guys. - Our food took 45 minutes to get to us. - The sides are pretty pricey for the portion sizes. In general, all of the prices seem a tad higher than what I would expect for the quality and size. We would like to give this place another shot, because we really want to like it. This is my honest review for now.

Yelp
Price: $9-$21 Rating: 8.5/10 Dish 1: F.G.T Cheeseburger (Fried Green Tomato) (8/10) Burger was cooked to the exact temperature I asked for. I wish that there would be a little more sauce, not that the meat was dry, but overall needed a little sauce to help with the batter and bread. Dish 2: Mac and Cheese (Side) (9/10) For a side dish, this was bomb. This mac has whole grain mustard which brings brightness to the heavy pasta. It has a beautiful crust that just adds that needed texture as well! Highly recommend! Dish 3: Award Winning (For Real) Crispy Chicken Wings (8.5/10). Now if you want wings, this is it. There is so much meat on these wings and the batter is pretty crispy! I wasn't familiar with the spice blend of sumac and chipotle morris, but it has a slight spice for those who are more sensitive. It feels like it's almost barbecue but not really that either. It was a fantastic dish! Overall vibes were great and serving staff were very friendly. The downside is, that the food does take a bit to come out, but worth the wait! If you are coming here for a quick bite, might not be the spot to get quick food!

Yelp
I made a reservation for this restaurant about a month in advance for a bachelorette party and was absolutely blown away by the service received! When I made the reservation I specifically requested the vault, which is sort of a private room for our party of 8. If you want this room definitely call and ask for it in advance. When we arrived for our dinner reservation, the party before us was unfortunately still using the room. The staff were so nice and apologetic about it, and they covered our first round of drinks for the inconvenience. We had to wait almost 30 minutes until finally the manager went to speak to the other party and politely ask them to leave lol. True Southern hospitality. For the food: the hangar steak and the pork shank were very well-received. Nice big chunks of meat. And we all enjoyed the various drinks we ordered. I will be back next time I am in Savannah. The excellent customer service is what made this a great experience for me and the rest of the bachelorette party!!

Yelp
WOW! This restaurants excellent reviews are well deserved!! I made a reservation months in advance to celebrate my best friends birthday and this place did not disappoint. From the moment you enter you are greeted and treated to top notch customer service. Like it was next level! We had a short wait that we enjoyed our time sipping cocktails at the bar. They make traditional and creative beverages. I tried something off of their main menu and it was delicious. For dinner we ordered the wings and charcuterie. If you do anything while visiting this restaurant, GET THE WINGS. They are crunchy, spicy, saucy goodness. I dream of these wings. They are amazing as they claim, so don't miss out. For my main course, I have the schnitzel which was also crispy and flavorful. The ambiance is elegant with tasteful farm themed artwork. I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Yelp
I wouldn't go out of my way to go hear if you are visiting. Having said that.... Cute restaurant Off the beaten path The wings are delicious The fried flounder special is good The spicy collards are good The black eyed peas were just ok Nothing spectacular to justify going out of the historic district if you are visiting. But if you want to mix things up go for it!

Yelp
Definitely a five-star experience! We had: - The Main Event cocktail (great) - C&R Old Fashioned (good) - Chicken Wings appetizer (good) - Bone-in Pork Chop (great) - Rigatoni (great) - Strawberries & Cream dessert (great) Amelia's recommendations were fabulous.

Yelp
Food always good, lots of energy and great staff. Only con is it's very loud impossible to hv a conversation.

Yelp
Award Winning Wings were so big we had to take left over. It sweet and spicy but it was so juicy perfect appetizer to start. The sever Justin was nice to split the salad so we could both have some and it was actually good Caesar. Georgia wagyu beef was delicious i had mind medium and it was perfect temperature. The sauce hit the spot and the fries was seasoned right. We end up having room for dessert that we had COCOA CRÈME CARAMEL and it taste like a flan in a good way. The meringue was so I wanted more. I recommend to get a reservation for this place because it gets busy quick. I definitely will come back here , the service was great.

Yelp
This was our second dinner at Cotton & Rye (the first in 09/22), and both were absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is beautiful, not too loud - but energetic. Service was excellent (even down to our server offering to provide "comparable" local liquors for our mixed drinks based on our preferences for more well-known brands - she NAILED it, great martini & old fashioned!). And the food... just wonderful! The first time we were there we had the fried chicken thighs (me) and the trout (him) - this was a while ago, but I remember both of us being extremely happy with our dishes. This time he had the steak - which was cooked perfectly. He enjoyed it! I clearly "won" this order, though - the pork shank osso bucco was hands down one of the best, most memorable dishes I have eaten in recent memory! I'm not a huge grits fan, but this dish came close to converting me (alas, had some grits for breakfast the morning after that reminded me the texture isn't always my thing). The sauce was delicious, the meat fell off the bone. I couldn't stop eating it! Absolutely the highlight of my meals in Savannah.

Yelp
Cotton & Rye lived up to the hype. The service is top notch and the food is fantastic. We had the catfish and NY strip w/wings as a start. This is an all time Savannah favorite.

Yelp
Great service and the food was great also. I don't recommend the patio in the heat, but the fried chicken was amazing.

Yelp
Our first dinner in Savannah was spent at Cotton & Rye upon recommendation from McDreamy's brother. We had late evening reservations and were seated promptly by very friendly staff when we arrived. The restaurant is low lit and cozy. Despite it being packed with patrons, the sound level was dampened making for easy table conversation. Our waiter was somewhat new to the restaurant but knowledgeable and very amiable. We were advised to try the chicken wings. If you go to Cotton & Rye and only have time for one thing, then get the wings. We were served six wings for the three of us. They were large and dripping with a delectably sweet sauce. The coating was crisp. The chicken was tender. I'd have smacked someone's hand if they'd tried to take my last wing. We'll be back simply for the wings. Besides the amazing appetizer, we ordered drinks that were served promptly and mains that were delivered to our table not too quickly and not too long afterward. I had chosen the market fish which was catfish over succotash. OMG it was amazing! Best dang fish dish that I've had in a long time and I order fish a lot. McDreamy was afraid of the catfish (because catfish are mud fish and taste like dirt, right?). But he tried a bite and was taken aback. I dare say he had a little food envy. Meanwhile, he had chosen the bone-in pork chop that was gigantic! He shared a slice of it and it was succulent. Eldest daughter ordered the NY strip which was cooked precisely to her liking. To end the meal, we shared a dark and white chocolate mousse dessert bar topped with a chocolate shell. It was an excellent way to end the meal with something light and sweet. We all left Cotton & Rye very pleased. I highly recommend enjoying a meal here. It's high on our list 'must go' list for when we return to Savannah.

Yelp
My husband, father, and I were in town visiting from Tampa, and decided to stop here for dinner. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS and our server was wonderful as well! My favorite dishes were their shrimp n grits, Mac and cheese, and homemade twix bar for desert. If I'm ever in town again, we'll be back!

Yelp
My wife and I have been in Savannah for a few days and have had some great experiences with the food. But nothing, seriously nothing has compared to the experience at Cotton & Rye. Rebecca our server totally blew us away. Her true passion for the restaurant and true southern hospitality shined all night! This is hands down our favorite restaurant we have ever been to Ever! You can not create this experience with out amazing food and outstanding service! Such a cool place with an actual bank vault! The vibe is fantastic. Thank you for the great night!

Yelp
We were celebrating a bachelorette and they seated us in the old bank vault - it was a super cute spot and the bride felt so special. The service was too notch! The drinks and food were all absolutely delicious. We shared a bunch of sides - the Mac & cheese was my favorite. The wings and burger were also a highlight! I'd highly recommend this spot to anyone in Savannah!

Yelp
It all starts with good servers and food, and this place is amazing! It is very cozy and definitely passed the ambiance test. I would definitely come back here whenever I come! My favorite thing was how the servers were so friendly to our dog and one server named Asia was super friendly! I love this place.

Yelp
This place is one of my absolute favorites. Never a disappointing moment. The meals are unbelievable! The cocktails and wines are superb. If I were forced to pick a favorite meal it would have to be the fried chicken thighs. But I can't be forced so I love to try something different every visit. The wait staff and bar tenders awesome. Pick a cocktail from their eclectic menu or tell them exactly what you want. Either way you won't be disappointed. Do yourself a favor and reserve a spot for yourself and someone you love.

Yelp
I loved this place. I was in town for a few days and researched where to eat, as I always do. The wings absolutely lived up the hype. That sauce was just finger licking good. I wanted to kick it off the plate. Their burger was tasty and I loved their mac and cheese. When many Mac and cheese dishes fall short, this one was worth the calories. Their wine list was very good and they even had sauternes and Madeira after dinner. I was so full and didn't have dessert, which was a hard decision to make! I'd go back in a heartbeat if I lived close. I also appreciated that it wasn't in the busy historic district.

Yelp
Highlights: great food, friendly service, inviting ambiance. Food: Starters - chicken wings and cornbread. Both were absolutely fantastic, especially the crispy breading of the chicken wings. The seasoning on the wings is perfect, with just the right amount of heat. Main - red snapper. Very good, though I wish it had been served with some starch like mashed potatoes or atop some arugula. Just needed a little something. Dessert - gold dusted Twix bars. Amazing, just order Ambiance: Experience: Fantastic.

Yelp
This was a perfect dining experience. We had a 7:45 reservation and arrived at 7:15 to get a drink at the bar. Great selection of spirits and wines by the glass. Ended up eating at the bar with Amelia who was incredible. Wife had questions about gluten/nightshade issues and they could not have been more accommodating. We had trout, green beans, fried chicken, and spicy collard greens. Everything was magnificent. The chicken was perfectly marinated and fried served with a house made Ranch and hot honey. Honestly best I've ever had. Bottom line: go there. Everyone is amazingly friendly, ambiance is high vibe without being overly loud, and the food could not be better.

Yelp

Yelp
Best meal I've ever had! Fried chicken, amazing mac n cheese side with depth of flavors from various cheeses. Grilled trout with garlic and pine nuts was delicious, sides: black eyes peas, rosemary corn bread, and lemony green beans with pecans. All amazing...couldn't stop thinking about the corn bread. For dessert: strawberry rhubarb compote with honeycomb ice cream and pie crust lattice cookie- outstanding. The drinks looked amazing but we didn't have any- prices are very reasonable here. We were shocked with the small ticket.

Yelp
My husband and I made sure we only ate at local businesses during our trip to Savannah. Cotton and Rye wasn't too far from our hotel on the Riverfront, and was easy to find. We had reservations for our Tuesday evening dinner (6:15), and everyone we interacted with was friendly. Olivia was our server and she was just super with recommendations and suggestions. I ordered the Treehorn from the beer menu, and loved it! A hard cider with a dry finish, so refreshing on a warm Southern evening. We started with Corn and Shrimp Chowder and Boudin Balls. The (5) Boudin Balls were deep fried meaty goodness mixed with rice, and so tasty I had to give a whole one to my husband. The Corn and Shrimp Chowder was great, not heavy. I had the Fried Chicken Thighs (2) with mac & cheese, and my husband had the Roast with buttered potatoes. The fried chicken thighs were everything you'd want in Southern fried chicken, hot, crispy and golden. The mac and cheese wasn't as creamy and cheesy, but still tasty. Dipping bites of chicken into the hot honey was my favorite. My husband said the roast was tender and delicious, the potatoes were exactly what he was hoping they'd be. We didn't leave room for dessert, but truly enjoyed everything we ordered. A great experience all the way around.
