Big Dom’s Bagel Shop Brings B’donuts, Biscuits, Bagels to Cary | Eater Carolinas

"A taphouse opening this fall at 307 S. Academy St. under Master Brewer Jamie McMillan that blends Southern hospitality with craft beer rooted in the creators' cotton-farming family history. Beers are made with natural ingredients, including hops grown on the brewers' farm in Liberty, NC, and guests can pair drinks with rotating food trucks, offerings from local restaurants, and neighbors at the Mayton Inn. The venue occupies a national historic site built in 1900 known as The Pasmore House." - Katie Toussaint

Google
Super unique spot right near the park! The gentleman working the bar was great and had some really good beer options. Great views out on the back deck area and it's perfect to just hang out. Walking distance to other bars and restaurants in the area but you definitely want to stop by here for a quick beer and something different than the normal bar. There's parking decks and on street parking available but very limited.

Google
We hosted our 30th high school reunion here this past weekend, and it was hands down the best location, people and experience. A big thank you to Cody, Donny and all the bartenders who made our reunion a memorable and fun experience. Everyone who attended thought Cotton House was the best venue! Go IMPS!

Google
This is a cool place. Great location and fun place to sip a beer. The beer selection is a bit limited, 8 were on tap and another 4 were non-alcoholic options. The beers were so-so. The bartender who served us had the personality of a door, but he might have just been having a day. They had some pizza delivery options and chips for sale but no kitchen. I’d happily go back.

Google
What a great place to just ‘be’ and hang out with friends !! We ALL love it here. A great beer and wine bar, plenty of cozy seating inside and out to accommodate everyone. A back patio that looks Downtown Cary Park for additional seating. The friendly chill attitude hits every time !!

Google
What a cool place!! The vibe is really chill, and I've never seen a brewery inside a historic home before. Walking the house itself was an experience, and I can't wait for the haunted tours to come back and explore again!

Google
Beautiful space in downtown Cary. Great indoor and outdoor options - historic house artfully restored. I had their version of a New England IPA which was good but not exceptional. New brewery so I am confident they will improve with time.

Google
We just stopped by Cotton House Craft Brewers for the first time, even though we’ve noticed it plenty of times before, and we were really impressed. They’ve got a super cool backyard area — perfect for hanging out with family and playing board games. Great vibe overall, definitely recommend checking it out!

Vikki M.

Google
This is a really neat place, love the use of an old house for a brewery tasting location. Various seating areas throughout as well as outside seating. Friendly staff. Honestly, not a fan of most of the beers. The Notorious POG Sour is pretty good. And Brett's Porter is okay. Did not care for any of the others, IPA were a disappointment. Again, it is a very neat place to hang out but the beers didn't wow us.

Yelp
This is as quaint and lovely as it looks on the outside. They are in the social district and we got "to go" Cups for no upcharge. Happy we did because this beats any plastic cup, lol! I had an ESB and my bf had a sour. Both are solid. Friendly service with a smile on a day they were about to close for a wedding. Make it a destination and then walk back towards the park.

Yelp
Hubby and his brother wanted another beer after leaving a nearby establishment so we stopped into Cotton House Craft Brewers. They both ordered a Hoppin' Amber. We sat out front at the patio table on the lawn. It was a beautiful afternoon with a nice breeze, perfect beer drinking weather. I tried the amber and really liked it. Smooth and refreshing. They were fans, too. The house was gorgeous, bathrooms were clean and there was lots of outdoor seating. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Yelp
Great beer options, nice sized rooms, rather than a huge single room like so many brew houses are. Service was quick and friendly, even on a busy Friday evening!
google avatar

Kaneka R.

Yelp
It is a charming and absolutely cool event space and brewery. There are rockers on the front porch and tables outside and many options inside. You have free parking in the neighborhood, and you can get beer to go and go to the park across the street. They serve 5oz so you can create your own flight. On this visit, I tried 4 different beers and enjoyed each one. You can't go wrong. There was a food truck outside if you wanted to grab a bite to eat, and the brewery had kettle chips. Make time to stop here. You won't regret it.

Yelp
What a unique brewery experience! Unlike any place I have ever been. Staff was great and very informative! Beer was fantastic!

Ewan R.

Yelp
Bartender was rude, unnecessary attitude. Also was very unimpressed with the beer list. Cary has a number of better options. Skip this one.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
An interesting vibe in this place. The inside is a cozy house that has been repurposed into a brewery. The beer selection is limited, but I think they rotate over time so you could always wait to try out different ones. I'm not a huge drinker, so I don't particularly enjoy the taste of alcohol. But the cider that I ordered was very smooth and hid most of the alcohol taste. Aside from some tables and wall decoration, there isn't much going on here. I suggest that if you are coming here with friends, you should bring your own deck of cards or a board game to pass the time.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in the middle of downtown Cary. Great selection of craft brews and wine, in a historic venue right next to Cary's downtown park. Dog-friendly outdoor seating and an extremely dog-friendly staff! (They gave her treats and even watched her while I used the restroom.) Absolutely recommend this place for people with dogs and/or kids, or just to have a beer in a lovely setting.

Yelp
It's about time I upgrade this review to 5 stars. Cotton House has always been my favorite place to grab a beer in Cary, and nothing has changed about that. The vibe is absolutely phenomenal, the beers are all top notch, and the staff who work here are always pleasant. Plus, they often times have food trucks! Just check out their website and you can find out what food truck will be there on any given day. All in all, you won't be disappointed with a visit to Cotton House!

Suzette C.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my visit a couple weeks ago with my son and DIL. Spring Daze was excellent and sat outside and the weather was perfect. Definitely will be back with my pup.

Jamie D.

Yelp
This place only hires people who hate working in customer service. So many similar reviews complaining of the horrible service and yet nothing seems to be done. I was here last year when the rude male bartender with the tattoos was still around. We visited again to yet another bartender who must hate his job. When my friend asked where the beer menu was, the bartender responded by yelling to the entire bar area on where to find the menu.. I'm not kidding when I say yelled because he then "apologized" for yelling with no remorse in voice and just annoyance. The small interaction we had with the bartender was extremely uncomfortable and uninviting. I truly could not recommend this place enough. I gave it another shot but will definitely not be returning.

Yelp
Good old front porch sittin'...in a nice little downtown...at a brewery! This is an awesome use of an old house and one of the coolest breweries I've ever visited to just hang out . I tried a flight and all of the beers were good. The sweet tea style one stood out. I have to call this the must visit brewery in the Cary area.
google avatar

Elease B.

Yelp
Such an interesting idea for this old home. Very welcoming. The outside areas are nice as well. We especially appreciate the owners allow 'open mic' for local artists. And of course DOGS. A terrific place to hang out. {{*.*}}

Yelp
Stopped by for a beer here--real nice vibe--I should have taken more pics of the place, specifically I missed the back patio which was really nice. Friendly staff. I'll be back to try some of food I saw inside--it looked very tasty--especially the duck quesadilla and parmesan fries.
google avatar

Falan E.

Yelp
Don't let the name of this place turn you away. I enjoyed my experience, and the staff was the kindest and most welcoming. My coworkers and I visited for a team celebration. I'm not a huge fan of beer, but those who I came with are. We all enjoyed what we ordered. I had the 12oz Semi-Tart Blackberry which is a blackberry cider. I could taste the blackberry, and there wasn't a weird aftertaste. The space is very spacious. There are bar chairs near the bar and rooms with comfy kitchen table-style seating that gives a homey vibe.

Yelp
Too disappointed by most breweries in the triangle area. Cotton house is probably the most unhappy experience. Place has so restriction on social distance when we were in the back yard and their beer option is just limited.

Jon J.

Yelp
Beautiful house/location with a nice bar and sitting areas. The beer was delicious and I loved the atmosphere. Situated in the middle of a beautiful community.
google avatar

Lulu C.

Yelp
Great beer, atmosphere, seating inside and out! Family friendly & a food truck too. Excellent Vienna Lager. It's hard to do a great Vienna lager that has no bitter after taste but these folks do it! Will return.
google avatar

Stephanie J.

Yelp
This house is beautiful. We stopped in to try a flight today, they currently have 4 core beers and 2 ciders on tap. There are more to come once they get more established. We really enjoyed the Houndstooth Stout and Hazy Days NEIPA. There is no free wifi currently but there should be within the next few weeks. This is a great addition to downtown Cary, it was already busy so I'm excited to see how it does. For those that are hungry - Verandah does deliver and they will be scheduling food trucks

Lori B.

Yelp
This place is adorable. Great beer selections. Central part of town. House is really cute and homey. Food truck comes some nights.

Yelp
Popped into the new Cotton House Craft Brewers in Cary on opening night on a whim! Located in in the Pasmore House next to the Mayton Inn, Cotton House is doing beer a bit differently. While the main production facility is down in Fayetteville, they've got the tap room in a residential area of downtown Cary. And the historic house location is pretty cool, offering up a couple of large sitting rooms along with the main bar area. Tried their Hazy Days New England IPA which was very tasty. Cotton House was pretty busy on their opening day and I'm guessing the crowd will be a bit more mature, in the 30 to 55 range. Overall a nice spot offering up some good brews, they are off to a great start!

Yelp
Cute little beer house with a good selection of brews but the customer service was lacking. The guy behind the bar definitely wasn't talkative or friendly for that matter. Felt like we were bothering him by placing an order. Though this place has a nice outdoor seating area under the trees, I don't think I'd go back. Honestly, I think a little walk to Pharmacy makes for a better drinking experience.

Yelp
What an amazing location, awesome set up in a historical home and fantastic beers!!!! The Park St IPA is crisp fresh and a 10/10! Love this place, check it out if you want a chill place with great brews and an amazing setting!!!!

Gooder B.

Yelp
One of the rudest bartenders ever. Do not go here. Very difficult to talk to. Doesn't even answer questions. If you don't want to serve people, stay home pal. Owner also apparently reports bad reviews. What a joke
google avatar

Jeff F.

Yelp
This is a really cool place to get a beer! It's basically a house, a very old house, with a beautiful front porch, back deck and patio. They don't have huge number of beers to choose from, at least not yet, but the ones I tried were all very good. Plus the price isn't bad for a pint, considering some places are now charging $7. The bar is pretty big for such a small area. And the bathrooms are super clean, which is always a good thing. Parking is on the street, but there are usually spaces open on the side streets. Hopefully this bar works out here, it's definitely a welcome addition to Cary!
google avatar

Yvonne J.

Yelp
This concept is so cool and I've never seen anything like it! Come drink some beer in a historical house and hang with your friends! Because it's a historical house they cannot brew in this building. It is done offsite. The beers are enjoyable and you can sip on them while exploring all the different rooms the house offers. Or you can take your beer out back on the patio, which is large and has 2 different sections. Maybe you want to test your cornhole skills. Or maybe you just wanna chill. Whatever the case, I think you'll find Cotton House a nice change of pace from the typical brewery. We can't wait to come back here as the weather warms up and we can take advantage of that patio! A bonus is that it's located in downtown Cary, which is fairly small and very walkable.

Yelp
As newbies to the NC brew scene, we were not steered wrong with Yelp's high praises of Cotton House. We may have already been here a few times in our short time as NC residents with plans to go back ASAP. I love the POG sour - I'm not big into other types of beer so I love when places carry a sour option! I also had a cider they carry which was good but not quite as good as POG. My husband has enjoyed both the Lazy and Hazy Days, with Lazy being his current front runner but no bad words about either. I love that food trucks are regularly here and the atmosphere is fantastic, with great service to boot!
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
Great brewery. Ambience is chill and laid back. They do a good job with food trucks. Beer is why I go. Best in area.
google avatar

Marielle T.

Yelp
Perfect southern style with tasty beer! The house is beyond charming and I'm loving the events and varied spaces (inside and out!) that they offer. Patio, backyard, and tons of rooms to explore all offering different vibes. You can even bring some snacks here for a picnic if you choose to - they often have food trucks on site as well. *For more, I'm on IG! @mars.eats.world

Yelp
Stopped in here for a drink with friends yesterday afternoon. It's a cute spot with plenty of shaded outdoor seating to have happy hour. There are some nooks within the house that you can sit in and the decor is really cute. With all of the doors open, it's pretty hot inside when the temperature is in the 90s but on the other hand it's good for airing out during covid times. The staff was friendly and masked up. They had 10 beers on tap and a wine selection. I tried two beers: Yellow Velvet ($6) and Hazy Daze ($7). Neither one of them was super amazing but both were very refreshing!
google avatar

Vikki M.

Yelp
This is a really neat place, love the use of an old house for a brewery tasting location. Various seating areas throughout as well as outside seating. Friendly staff. Honestly, not a fan of most of the beers. The Notorious POG Sour is pretty good. And Brett's Porter is okay. Did not care for any of the others, IPA were a disappointment. Again, it is a very neat place to hang out but the beers didn't wow us.
google avatar

Megan T.

Yelp
Such a neat brewery! Literally inside a converted house. They've got bands who come through, food trucks to offer something to eat, and of course plenty of brews to choose from. When we went, they also had vendors selling things like candles and soaps--not sure if that's an everyday thing or not, but it was nice to support local businesses! A lovely place to pass an afternoon with friends.
google avatar

Keith B.

Yelp
Awesome outdoor setup!!! Love the back deck and the "backyard"! I like the Cherry Limeade Gose
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
This was a great brewery. Beers were great. October fest was outrageous. Loved it. Didn't give the fifth star because I'm not into food trucks. Service was good.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Love the location and style. Cider was great but dude behind the bar DEFINITELY needs to work on his personality.
google avatar

Roseena H.

Yelp
Adorable spot in Downtown Cary! I am not a beer drinker so I had a glass of wine, but my partner said the beer was excellent. Bring your dog and sit outside in the shade during a warm day and relax, can't wait to go back! Would love to check it out at night with the lights and heaters on.
google avatar

Ethan G.

Yelp
What an unsuspecting surprise! It is an old farmhouse in Cary with a brewery. They turned the dining room into the bar, but they you can sit and sip throughout the rest of the house. We met up with a Meet-up and there were about 20 of us. We were able to sit outside and chill and people watch. It was so cool! There was a food truck, and I think they have them regularly. It was just a really nice, quaint, and very unique spot to go and relax. This will definitely be a spot we take friends and family when they come down to visit us. I had a flight with the Mango IPA, the Amber Ale, the Worlds Best Boss Coffee Stout, and the West Coast IPA. Loved them all, but the West Coast IPA was my favorite. So, they do good beer, and in a cool spot, and it was relatively cheap... definitely recommend it!
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
What a gem in downtown Cary! I had avoided it for a long time because I'm gluten-intolerant (breweries aren't always the most fun for me) and it seemed like a really small building. But after seeing photos of an event online, I realized exactly how much space is out back - perfect for kids and dogs to run around! It's almost like three separate spaces/vibes. The front yard/porch has small tables and allows you to people watch out on Academy Street. Inside, it's an old house - perfect with cozy nooks for date night, or a "locals" kind of bar where you can chat to the bar tender. Out back is a huuuuge patio and open field with bean bags/lawn games. They always have one cider on tap - my only wish is that they would keep one or two others around for options. There are often food trucks and concerts on the weekend. Such a great addition to the neighborhood!
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
Loved this place. It is seriously so adorable! The house is super nice and there is ample amount of outdoor seating. We brought our dog and sat in the backyard with lots of picnic tables and the porch is even covered seating. I don't know what they had on draft, my bf went inside to get the drinks but whatever he got for me was really good. They also had a dumpling food truck there.. I assume they will usually have food trucks but it was just so nice. Definitely will return for the outdoor seating and beer!
google avatar

Hunter T.

Yelp
I love the cute atmosphere of this "homey" brewery! The inside is really lovely with a long bar and plenty of beers to choose from. They do have a limited food menu of small plates but we didn't stay long enough to taste any. I ordered a flight and was most keen on the taste of the Amber Ale. This brewery is kid and dog friendly with a small front lawn that's mostly fenced in. The rocking chairs are a fun front porch addition. I've only given 4 stars because my beers weren't as cold as I'd have liked and I honestly couldn't tell if it was a brewery or a daycare when we walked up. I'll be back to taste something from the menu and they may get another star from me!
google avatar

Dolline M.

Yelp
Atmosphere and location are awesome!!! Plenty of outdoor seating and cozy seating on the inside. A food truck is available (probably rotating). Fun place to drink a beer and hang out with friends to catch up!
google avatar

Cassie L.

Yelp
Feels like being back in college at a house party-except with surprisingly good beer, music, and superb cleanliness. Indoor and outdoor seating options with Connect 4 to play inside. Definitely stop by and have a drink!
google avatar

Neelam C.

Yelp
From the outside you wouldn't expect what's on the other side of the doors. Charming house in and out, with a friendly staff that provides great service. Good mix of beers. The Hazy Days was Chris' favorite. Much needed place in downtown Cary and definitely worth visiting!
google avatar

Molly C.

Yelp
This is a neat space in an old house, with ample outdoor seating, including open air, a covered tent, and heaters. The beer was decent, but the female bartender working was abrasive and rushed us. We were scolded for standing too close to the bar and heard her snap at an older couple behind us who asked for a sample. ( I know it's COVID but they very politely asked - did not demand- and other breweries have been letting people try beer) It rubbed me the wrong way and we won't be back, but will continue to spend time at other close-by breweries.
google avatar

Caitlin W.

Yelp
A great little brewery right in downtown Cary in a very cool old house that has been redone (while keeping all the charm)! While not the most extensive or long list of beers at around 10 beers they have a good variety from IPA to stouts with some lagers and fruit beers mixed in. They have some inside seating as well as some seating in front of the house and large outside space behind it. They usually have a rotating food truck out front for all your food needs while enjoying a brew. I love that it is in downtown Cary and a great space, the beers were solid but nothing that made me go WOW!

Charlotte K.

Yelp
Good beer and a very cool location in an old house! Felt very cozy with the Christmas decorations too. Nice place to stop in downtown Cary.
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere! Customer service was excellent. The beers were very delicious and flavorful. I would recommend this place if you are interested in a nice relaxing place to enjoy your beer pallet.
google avatar

Adnan H.

Yelp
Awesome place. Grab a beer, grab a rocking chair, & chill! Once done; grab a beer, grab a rocking chair, & chill. Once done, repeat the process....I had to say it more than once otherwise the review doesn't meet character amount.
google avatar

Yelp
I used to love sitting on the front porch watching people go by, sipping my favorite beer. Unfortunately that experience has been ruined by food trucks with noisy gasoline generators. This past Sunday it truly sounded like a jet engine disturbing the tranquility. Why they can't park at back or use a A/C hookup is a mystery.
