Best Pool Food and Drink in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"The W Scottsdale’s WET Deck is a summer pool destination located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, and the poolside Cottontail Lounge is a stunning reprieve to take a break from a swim and grab a drink. Vibes channel the Las Vegas pool party. VIP bottle service, DJ, and all. Try the Vice, a refreshing summery libation made from Malibu coconut rum, strawberry purée, pineapple juice, and coconut cream. Enjoy the music and the expansive desert view from the deck. Just eat before coming — food isn’t a focus here." - Chris Malloy

12 Top-Notch Rooftop Bars in Phoenix | Eater Phoenix

"Admittedly, this second-story rooftop bar can’t compete, height-wise, with the loftier spots on the list, but such a shortcoming has never kept it from being Old Town’s sexiest, most popular poolside hangout and lounge, exuding a clubby, L.A.-meets-Vegas vibe even in the heat of the day. Dress up for an evening in the upscale bar area (there’s a dress code) and bring your best swimsuit for the pool, where renting a cabana is required if customers aren’t guests of the hotel. Drinks and snacks are available, but secondary to the see-and-be-seen scene." - Nikki Buchanan

Cottontail Lounge at W Scottsdale is one of my favorite rooftop spots in Old Town Scottsdale! The mid-century, chic design, comfy daybeds, and marble bar create a stylish yet relaxed atmosphere. Their cocktails are innovative and well-balanced, and the bar snacks hit the spot. I love the indoor-outdoor space, it’s got shade for daytime visits and heaters for cooler evenings. Whether you're brunching, catching sunset drinks, or dancing to the DJ on weekend nights, it’s elevated, vibrant, and fun. Definitely a must-visit in Scottsdale!

Nice atmosphere here. Asked for a NA mojito and received some fizzy lime juice with a salad of mint on top. I watched her make it and it was clear she had no idea about proportions of the mixer & simple syrup, and never muddled it. To be fair, mojitos aren’t on the menu, but also to be fair, they had no NA options. 1 star for menu not being inclusive to all guests and not knowing how to make a mojito.

We purchased tickets for a party after the WM open. It was 4 women for a fun girls night out. When we arrived and put our card down they asked for our ID. I told the waitress I wasn't comfortable giving her my ID, so she handed one back to me. When it was time for us to close out, my girlfriend went before me to get her ID and they told her they didn't have it. She asked for a manager. The manager was unhelpful, and acted rude to her and gave her no solution except... we don't have it. I finally came up after about 5 minutes and looked in my purse. They had handed me her ID when I requested mine initially, so the issue was solved very quickly and my ID was found and returned to me. I thought nothing of the interaction. We then went downstairs to find our other friend who was helping someone get an uber. When we couldn't find her, we tried to go back upstairs to get her and they barred the entry saying we were inebriated and they could tell because we were "stumbling". I had 3 drinks in 3 hours and was not intoxicated. I am a 50+ YO doctor and have never been treated with such disrespect in my entire life. I argued about getting let in to find my girlfriend. Juan (name he told me at least) insisted that he would not let me back in and to just "text" my friend and even tried to stop us from heading to the downstairs bar. It was the most bizarre interaction I have ever had at an establishment. I finally was able to convince them after about 20 minutes that I needed to find our friend so we could leave. I am still fuming. We paid money to attend this lame party and were treated like drunk 20 year olds with fake IDs. I am a titanium Marriott member and timeshare owner. I will never go back.

Great vibe here. Hung out here before going out and had some great drinks while listening to good music. Lively. Would recommend when staying at the W

Music is too loud by the bar...but by the pool it's fine. Drinks are spendy...but atmosphere was fun and inviting

Wonderful bar, Pool and atmosphere, cabana is wonderful and the bunny photos are a great decorative touch

Was able to order a drink right away, but what I ordered was not made properly and the price was insane for what I ordered, $26 for a sidecar that was not made correctly.

Atmosphere was fun. Service was terrible. Came in for a quick brunch at 11:30am on a Sunday. Ordered fairly quickly, received our drinks, and over an hour later our food still hadn’t arrived. The waitress said she would go check but never came back with an update. Another 15 minutes passed and our food arrives. We look at it and it looks like it has been sitting out for a good 20 minutes. The avocado on the avocado toast had turned brown and the cilantro looked like steamed spinach. The toast on my sandwich was rock hard and the fries cold. The plastic plate that one meal was served on was warped. The eggs started to crust over. It was pretty bad. The manager stopped by and asked us how the food was because he could tell we looked pretty disappointed. I told him it looked like it has been sitting out for 20 minutes and he said when he saw it was done it was brought up right away. He asked if we would like our food to be remade but warned us there was only one line cook so that it might be awhile. At that point we had already wasted so much time waiting around I asked for our tab (a round of drinks) so that we could leave. I’m not sure why he thought it was okay to put out food that was in that condition let alone lie about it not sitting out. I’ve worked in the service industry for years so I know what food looks like when it has been forgotten about. Anyways, attached is a picture of the very sad looking avocado toast because now all I can do is laugh about it.

Yelp
Cottontail Lounge is a bar/lounge located inside the W Scottsdale. We entered and walked through here to get to our dinner reservations at Donabe. I liked the look and vibes of the place and decided we needed to circle back through here before the night was over. After dinner we explored the Scottsdale nightlife and decide to end our night here. The vibe was completely different later in the night. This time we had to go through bouncers. The lounge itself is absolutely stunning. They have an indoor space that is beautifully decorated with lots of different seating options. They have an open air concept with one side open to the rooftop pool deck. The bartenders and staff were scantily clad which definitely had gentleman hanging at the bar too long. That meant long waits to get a drink. For a place that looks so upscale, I was disappointed in the drinks. Online they talk about a next level mixology experience and that was not our experience. We got cocktails served in plastic cups that cost just as much or even more than some high end cocktail bars I have been to. It's kind of what is expected in Scottsdale though. Overall, we had a good time. I just wouldn't go out of my way to come back here next time I am in town.

Yelp
Overly priced drinks but always a fun time at the pool and the pool food is soooo good

Yelp
The reason this place has bad reviews is because a vodka soda is $20 and every single table says "reserved" despite the fact that the lounge itself is completely empty

Yelp
This came up on a Yelp search for bars/lounges so decided to check it out. First off The W hotels have a cool vibe and the lounge fit in very well with the vibe. It is located on the second floor, just up the stairs from the lobby. It is dimly lit and filled with pictures/decor of rabbits (lives up to it's name). The bar area is nice and large and there are other tables and couch areas as well as the pool area. Service at the bar was not quick, instead quite the opposite where we had to flag down a bartender who was chatting with someone else who worked there for a while and was also occupied with his phone at other times. I also was quite surprised to see that cocktails were $20! I know it's the W but that is pretty pricey. Also note that this is considered the pool area so the drinks are served in plastic cups. Aside from that, I like the space and atmosphere and had a nice time sitting in one of the couch areas which I assume are the VIP areas during pool hours.

Yelp
If you've ever walked by the W on a Friday or Saturday afternoon or evening you've no doubt heard the pulsing club music and thought, "Where's THAT coming from?" Meet Cottontail on the second floor of the W. Cottontail is where you would have access to the various bars and pool area. Frankly, the views aren't amazing but the W knows how to create ambiance. It's fun and carefree. When it's busy, there is no better place for people watching. You find a mix of tourists and locals doing staycations here. When Cottontail puts on special events, they're masterfully executed. This is a classier (albeit more pricey) option that the nightclubs around the corner. You get what you pay for! Other Yelpers have written that you need to have reservations to get in. I'm not sure and it would be worth checking during busier periods when they'll want to cater to in-house guests. Besides being a bar, Cottontail is also a restaurant and they serve brunch. Being the W, drinks are expertly mixed. From glasses of prosecco to negroni's, you are going to have quality. Honestly, it's fairly priced for the environment. I have visited many W's around the world (the rooftop in Shanghai inspires awe!). Sometimes the staff can be a bit uppity. I was worried that a similar vibe might be present here. Nope! Just the opposite. The staff is friendly and pleasant. Some have even remembered me from past visits! This was a really pleasant surprise. Only one issue cropped up from a recent visit and I can't even say that it is the hotel's fault but beware. We started a tab and cashed out at the end of the night. The next morning there was a hold on our credit card for triple the amount. I went back to speak to the manager who shrugged and said it was normal and that the hold would come off four days later...which it did. Not sure if this was caused by the bank or the hotel but it wasn't the most happy of surprises. Pro tip: don't open a tab and close out each round! All in all, Cottontail is worth visiting at least once. The energy on the deck is great and something you won't forget!

Yelp
My girlfriends & I stayed at the W & made a resy for dinner here on a Thursday night. It is a gorgeous lounge next to the pool. We heard the lounge was the place to be but when we came, it was empty.... We had the entire place to ourselves. We were also looking to have dinner but it was mainly apps so we just left.

Yelp
My close friend from home was in town for a conference, and I was excited to show him the nicest place in town. So I took him here, showed him the place, and bought him a drink. Food poisoning: I'm almost sure my close friend got food poisoning here as we had exactly the same food and drink the entire night (I was DD) and the only difference was his drink, the gin martini with the olives, so we narrowed it down to that, especially the olives (yes, it is possible for olives to go bad. I didn't think so either until I looked it up, which caused more concern). We should have been suspicious when they said they didn't have any martini glasses and it took a long time for them to make the drink. It also came out in a small plastic cup which felt off. I didn't realize how bad it was until I met back up with him later the next day. Even as I was making the phone call to try to report this to a manager here, he was still vomiting. His symptoms were even worse earlier in the day causing him to have to leave the conference early on. I was able to reach someone in security on the hotel side, who then followed up with an email including management on the bar/lounge side (separate companies). They asked for details, copy of the receipt, etc. and I provided all that promptly. I expected prompt attention to be paid to this and for adjustments to be made at the very least. Sadly, I didn't even hear back from anyone on the bar/lounge side. I followed up multiple times over the course of multiple weeks to the point that I gave up, and it has now been over a month. I much prefer giving credit where it is due, but in this case I felt obligated to share this experience. It really did ruin my friend's special visit from the east coast to hang with me here. I informed the staff as soon as I could in the hopes that this would prevent anyone from going through the same thing, and I'm publishing this review for the same reason.

Yelp
While it's a great location and wearing a jockstrap the decor is nice, the service is terrible! We asked for a server they said they'd be right here. They never came. We asked a girl in her bikini and she says I don't serve this area. She said will check with the bartender. No one ever came over. I ended up going up to the bar to order myself... took forever. Time for management to train their employees.

Yelp
I would give it 0 stars! Literally get better service at McDonalds! Don't be fooled. The place looks nice and has an expensive menu but it all is absolute shit! Cocktail is $17 and they bring it to you in a plastic cup. Can't even get silverware...also plastic ware. Awful service too. Never knew who our server was because we were always trying to find someone just to get help. Never were given water, took ages for the food and drinks to come out and the food was disgusting. Management was awful and when trying to speak to the manager he wasn't helpful in anyway. This is my first time leaving a yelp review but I've never had such horrible service that I had to make this my first place to review. Do not waste your time with this place!

Yelp
The door guys are not kind. Very rude to my friend and me. Think they are better than you type of attitude. I do not recommend this place. Horrible people. Horrible staff. Very unfriendly. Do not waste your time coming here !!!

Yelp
Best place in Scottsdale by far. Great people, great drinks, and the landscape is beautiful.

Yelp
Really disappointing - you cannot get in here just to have a drink. It's for hotel guests and bottle service reservations only. You apparently have to text a random number (not associated with the hotel) and the VIP host then tells you the price for a table. We had a mixed group of males and females and weren't let in, but that shouldn't even matter in this day and age. If you're just looking for a classy spot to have a posh drink, go elsewhere. $800 to secure a reservation for four just isn't worth it.

Yelp
Had the waygu potstickers and they came out ice cold!! I'm not sure how long after cooking them they were left out before bringing them to me. The fries are frozen crinkle fries and we're not truffle fries like the menu said. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place.

Yelp
Hey so babe and I had date night. We decided to check out this place. We are always in the area but we never went upstairs. This place is nice but PRICEY. Babe and I got a bottle of Moët which was (I'm not sure because he pays the bill majority of the time) but I think it was $185. Which to me from my Atlanta, Vegas days when I was single is not bad but to him it was "PRICEY". Anyways this place is a vibe. If you want to have a good time with the fellas it's your ladies or a date night this is the place. Good view, good music, nice pretty bar and room. I enjoyed and I will be back. All and all. It's nice - The Tough Chicago Critic.

Yelp
The doorman/bouncers at this place are absolutely atrocious. My wife and her friends were having dinner and drinks here, they requested we join them and when we arrived the bouncers denied us access unless we were staying at the hotel. I let my wife know that they denied us access and I was going to book a stay at the hotel so we could join them. My wife came down to verify with them that we are with their party and they literally told her that she wouldn't be able to go back up now since she came down! Her purse and other items were still up there with the rest of the group they denied her access to her personal items! Further when other members from our party came to find out why weren't joining the bouncers allowed them to freely leave and go back up without any impeding whatsoever! Guess what? Me and my wife are black, our other party members were white. This is the first time I've experienced discrimination at this level! Stay away!!!!

Yelp
The best Scottsdale lounge! I have been waiting to check out the new renovated space and it did not disappoint. Fantastic service, ambiance, and delicious dining. The customer service experience is like no other. The staff is not only professional but very approachable. With the lively Dj and yummy drinks flowing- it was a recipe for a great night. I recommend making reservations ahead of time. I can't wait to check out the new brunch menu.

Yelp
Lauren is the most amazing manager. I have never met someone who is so accommodating executive I encountered. lol lol P ppppo

Yelp
You have to check this place out! This has got to be the best new lounge in Scottsdale. Everyone is inviting and the service is amazing. The manager, Tatum, made sure that we were treated like royalty. I've been staying at the W for years and I am so happy that the new lounge will continue to attract good energy to the W.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. And it made my trip to Scottsdale the absolute best. Tatum, was FANTASTIC, and made our experience that much better. Would highly recommend Cottontail and their elite staff to anyone

Yelp
We were staying at the W hotel so we decided to grab drinks here after dinner before calling it a night. First impression we liked it a lot. Great bartenders and nice ambiance. We were sitting at the bar when a girl starts fighting and yelling at the guy she was with. I turn around and she starts telling me and my friend things trying to fight us. I ignored her and turned around. Bartenders immediately informed security and were great about it. However the security were complete idiots I have no idea what they were hired to do. They did completely nothing about the situation. The bartenders told them a second time and they said the couple we getting kicked out in five minutes. ughmm you have a belligerent drunk girl at the bar starting fights with paying customers and you are going to do nothing about the situation. I went up to a second security guard and again nothing at that point we excused ourself while the intoxicated hot mess girl stayed and security stood around and did absolutely nothing. Will not be back and will tell all friends to stay away from this place. So many great places in Scottsdale to return to a place were this girls behavior was accepted.

Yelp
Beautiful venue. Horrible "tools" at the door. You guys are working at a beautiful bar in Scottsdale....this isn't 2015 at a club on the strip in Vegas. Check your cool guy attitudes and your $20 blazers at the door and allow everyone to have a great time and enjoy the venue. In 30 days when there is no one there you can definitely attest it to the wannabe coolguy bouncers at the door. If you are visiting the beautiful town of Scottsdale take your crew and your money elsewhere.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
What an amazing spot! Such beautiful decor and lighting. At night they have a dj that plays great music and they have a fire dancer! A little older crowd makes this the go to spot instead of those raunchy bars down the street. Staff is very nice. This is the spot to go to!
