I'm going to be a bit more forgiving in my review because I see a lot of potential in the place. It's a beautiful space and we were greeted/seated right away at Lunch time (right at noon). The host and server were both polite and welcoming.
Let's start with the drink and appetizer. The drink was $12 and was fine, but nothing to rave about. They noted that they could only allow us to sample some of the beers and not everything was in stock so apparently they still haven't received all of their supplies. That was fine for us, but hopefully that isn't a long term issue. I saw nothing about a happy hour so I don't think they have one at this time. I'm not sure what I was expecting for the appetizer, but it was a bit of a let down. For $10, I guess I was expecting something a bit more unique but it just tasted like that horse shoe sausages you buy from the grocery store cut up and pan fried. It wasn't terrible and I liked it, but I wouldn't say it's worth $10. They had another appetizer that was a smoked cheese board for $16 that didn't come with any meat according to the menu description. I personally would rather pay like $20 for the cheese board that included the sausage and crackers.
I got the Smoked Ham-N-Cheese with fries for $12 and it was overall good. I liked the fries just fine, but the sandwich was pretty dry. I personally like burnt things so I liked the ham cooked exactly as it was, but it could have used a bit more cheese and absolutely some kind of sauce or something. Mayo or thousand Island, but something!
My husband got the Enchilada Smoked Meatloaf for $17 and we both felt it was overall okay too. I'm not sure it's for everyone, but it was unique. Another comment mentioned this being burnt when they got it and I'd agree but again, I like burnt so I guess that just depends on the person. Maybe if it was a thicker meatloaf, it would be better though because even covered in the red sauce, it tasted a bit dry. It came with mashed potatoes under it and that was probably the worst tasting thing. It wasn't terrible, but it lacked any flavor at all like the cheap packaged ones you buy from Dollar General. His side was the mac and cheese and while we liked the flavor we'll enough, the texture was off-putting. It was too dense, especially as it cooled and started to thicken rapidly.
Other notes
Bathroom: Clean and very nice, I liked the lighted candle by the sink. Nice touch.
Menus: I'm not sure if they are expecting more finished ones but they gave my husband a finished one and mine was printed on cardstock temporary type paper.
Condiments/table set up: There's absolutely nothing on the tables. No napkins, salt, pepper, etc. They did give us a ketchup bottle when we got our food but it was almost empty and the lid was dirty with dried ketchup all over it. I don't mean to be petty, but there were only two other tables when we were there and lots of staff. These little things matter and add up.
Vibe: It's a cute place, I liked the music they had playing and the volume was good. I like that there's a playground and the slides looked safe to me, but I didn't have my kids with me so I really can't be sure.
I'll give the place another shot in a few months, but they definitely have a few kinks to work out and I'll update my review after that.
