15 Best Restaurants in Atlantic City at the Jersey Shore | Eater Philly

"Inside the Hard Rock Hotel, the Council Oak is a go-to for an upscale dinner of steaks and seafood. The seafood tower is as deluxe and over-the-top as Atlantic City, but don’t miss out on the wood-fired options. A lobster perhaps? Or a veal porterhouse? You’ll feel glamorous no matter what hits the table." - Annemarie Dooling

Top Destination Restaurants Near Philly That Are Worth the Drive

"A grand steakhouse with prime cuts of beef and flavorful seafood, Atlantic City hasn’t been the same since they hit the ground running. With their steaks prepared in J&R wood fire grills and Josper coal ovens — this restaurant proves that technique is just as essential as ambience." - Ernest Owens

Council Oak Steaks & Seafood is located inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. They are open Sun - Thu 5PM - 10PM, Fri 5PM - 12AM, and Sat 4PM - 12AM. Reservations required. My friends and I stopped in for the first time last Wednesday, and the experience was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. We began with the crispy calamari and shrimp, as well as the wagyu meatballs. The calamari offered a unique twist, but sometimes basic is better. Enjoyable overall, though I've had better in Atlantic City. The meatballs were exceptionally tender and full of flavor. Next, I tried the New England Clam Chowder, topped with crispy pancetta and oyster crackers. It was easily the best clam chowder I've ever had. For dinner we split the 22 oz bone-in ribeye, 10 oz filet mignon, lobster mac & cheese, and au gratin potatoes. Both steaks were expertly cooked, and the sides complimented them perfectly. My only complaint is that the ribeye arrived lukewarm rather than hot. We ended with the tiramisu; light, silky, and delicious. The presentation was original and added a nice touch to a classic dessert. Service was solid. Our server was attentive and helpful with the menu, and the manager stopped by to check on us.

Council Oak Steak and Seafood in Atlantic City offers a fantastic buffet breakfast, perfect for starting the day. The spread includes fresh sushi and prawns, offering a light yet delicious start. The fluffy omelette with charred asparagus, crispy potatoes, and tender artichokes is a hearty option for those looking to indulge in something savoury. For a sweet ending, there's a tempting selection of fresh fruits and desserts, providing a satisfying and well-rounded breakfast experience. Paired with a classic Bloody Mary, it’s an ideal way to enjoy a leisurely morning!

I’ve always considered the Council Oak Steakhouse at the Hard Rock Hollywood, Florida, to be the best — until now! During my recent stay at the Hard Rock in Atlantic City, I had the chance to dine at their Council Oak Steakhouse, and I couldn’t be more impressed. The food was absolutely outstanding, and the entire experience was exceptional from start to finish. Everything from the ambiance to the service exceeded my expectations. By far the best dining experience I’ve ever had — I couldn’t have been more pleased!

I normally don’t share reviews, but since I came here for my birthday dinner I figured I’d share my experience. My server Lisa was amazing! However, my food was not worth even a penny. My steak was hard as a rock and cold as ice. The manager didn’t even come over once to apologize or anything, but avoided my table like the plague. My birthday dinner was ruined and I would not recommend this place or return. Thanks again Lisa for stepping up and being amazing!

If you want fine dining this isn’t it. It’s all show & ridiculous pricing. We ordered our food and it took 1 hr & 17 mins to have our filet mignon served. We asked for a manager & she was seen walking back & forth taking more than a reasonable amount of additional time to come speak with us. She confirmed we did indeed wait an hour & 17 mins from when we ordered to have our steak served (she checked the computer!) then proceeded to tell us that if we knew fine dining that’s how long it takes & sometimes up to 1 hour & 45 minutes. So apparently we don’t know how we should be treated at a fine dining restaurant nor know fine dining according to her… Furthermore the filet mignon arrived in the middle of a bare plate with absolutely nothing around it( So classy.)Yes it did taste good enough but it was as expected for this type of cut of meat ordered anywhere else. Not outstanding…We ordered fries separately, no salt or ketchup were served with it from the kitchen server. We had to call him back & ask him. The calamari & shrimp appetizer was tasty but very skimpy& very greasy (4 shrimp & a few calamari mixed with cherry tomatoes and a ramoulade. ) Our female server (Filipino)was lovely, professional & attentive. They don’t deserve her!! The manager did offer us a desert but we declined fearing it would take another ridiculously long wait. We won’t be eating here again. Ridiculous!

One in our party ordered the scallop dinner. When it arrived there were 4 scallops !!! Quarter sized. They were placed in a row and the plate was sprinkled with peas. Absolutely unacceptable portion size for $49. Everyone at the table jaws opened in disbelief. Similar for the skirt steak for $59, extremely small portion of several slices. All, if you like a respectable portion size, this is NOT the place for you. Unless you get a piece of meat with the ounce size shown, stay away. But not everyone wants a piece of meat. Will never return. We were ripped off.

Google
One of the best steakhouses in Atlantic City shines bright. A wide range of different cuts is one of their standouts. Great selection of oysters and other seafood options. Cocktails has great flavor profiles and variety. Perfect for a date night, birthday dinner, or ideal pre-meal for a concert. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Google
We ordered a long bone rib steak for 2 it was $195 veiny, chewy and fatty. It was hard to cut and difficult to chew. Totally unacceptable for an upscale steakhouse. The sides were fine and the service was good but I certainly would not recommend it.

Yelp
I haven't done a review in a while even though I'm usually here at least once a month. I'm going to combine my review for visits the past two weekends. Food is always incredible. My new favorite is the bone-in filet. It is always cooked and seasoned perfectly. I really enjoy the baked garlic on top. I understand that $99 is pricey but I'm not going to waste money or calories elsewhere on a crappy steak. The French onion soup is relatively new to the menu. It's a little on the sweeter side but I love the depth of flavor. It has a perfect balance of onions, bread and cheese. It's very filling so keep that in mind when deciding on an entree. My favorite go-to meal this year has been French onion soup and the king crab legs. I love that you can get the king crab cold or steamed. The clam chowder is delicious. If clams on the half shell is a special get it and eat the soup with the raw clams!!! Amazing! The only thing I want to mention is that the service has been a little off. Not the servers - they have all been terrific. There just happens to be some miscommunication and kitchen delays. For instance, we had ordered a dinner special and when the entree came out it was completely different. The server and the runner had a discussion table side and apparently the server didn't know the special changed. He put it in the computer as "special ". We kept the entree and it was delicious. It's a big difference between prime rib and t-bone. The one night it took forever to get food. Do we really need to sit there for 2+ hours?

Yelp
This was by far the worst dining experience we have had in a long time. Our reservations were at 7, we were not seated until 720- fair enough busy Saturday night. The hostess asked us to sit in the lounge versus the dining room saying there was no difference. She failed to mention the live music (which was at intermission). Considering we were less than 10 feet from the stage- it was overwhelming. Our meal (no apps ordered) took almost an hour. Mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and 2 steaks- an hour. In that hour we watched 3-4 tables leave without getting their dinner because if the poor management and they were going to a show. Thats a lot of tables. The food was terrible. My Filet was sawdust dry in the center. My husband's strip was tough as a shoe. The house steak sauce tasted like BBQ sauce. The brussel sprouts were fine but not totally cooked. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. This was a terrible experience. I am infuriated.

Yelp
We are are staying at the hard rock hotel for and ABC convention and this is one of the wonderful restaurants at Hard Rock's ; my better half wasn't feeling well gave me his wallet and well wishes. I opted to dine at a bar so even alone I wasn't alone. Unfortunately we also fad a snow storm on its way ...numbers were down. The bartender when she finally came back from serving was very nice ; there was a gentleman at the bar not sure what he did because I didn't even get an acknowledgment I was seated from him. I opted for the New England clam chowder which was delicious. I can often not finish a meal being at a hotel with out my love to finish my food I did the steak tartar appetizer; my neighbors at the bar from the convention had ordered steaks and wished they had shared ... they said their steaks were fantastic! My steak tartar was fabulous too. The bartender was kind and wonderful too and my glass of Sauvignon Blanc was perfect. I'm hoping to get my honey here to share a steak:)

Yelp
Great spot for seafood in AC. I had the scallops with truffle risotto and butternut squash, they were heavenly. The caesar salad was excellent as well. For dessert we had the tiramisu which could feed 4 people. The sangria was just okay for the price of $16. I would say stick with a glass of wine. Our server was attentive and the ambiance is very nice you don't feel like you're on the boardwalk. This would be a spot I would return too.

Yelp
This steakhouse in Atlantic City's Hard Rock Casino has a fantastic ambiance and comfortable seating. If you get the right spot, you can look right into the carnival-like attractions on the boardwalk, which adds to the experience! I enjoyed it so much that I returned the next day just to sit at the bar for drinks. The food was flavorful and well-prepared. I'd recommend this place to anyone, whether you want to dress up for a special occasion or keep it casual; you'll fit right in here!

Yelp
Went here for the first time. Got the chicken and the scallops. Chicken was pretty bland. Scallops were good, liked the puree but the risotto didn't do it for me. Overpriced and underwhelming experience.
google avatar

Yelp
The clam chowder was outstanding, and the sea bass was excellent--especially since they offer it grilled. The lobster mac and cheese was incredibly filling, and the fries were absolutely delicious. Our waiter was also very knowledgeable and attentive.

Yelp
This was one of the nicer restaurants at the hotel. We were celebrating my friend's birthday. The steaks were awesome. The lobster pot was a great presentation BUT since this was fine dining, I expected them to do more with the lobster claws. It wasn't easy to eat in my beautiful dress. They gave claw crackers but it was still difficult to remove the shell. Overall good meal & service was challenging the waitress clearly saw we were 2 separate couples but put the bill together without asking then said our only option was to give her 2 credit cards and she would split the bill in half but we all got different things so make that make sense?? It doesn't! She made a mistake that was inconvenient for her to correct.

Yelp
Eh. Way over priced! The service was ok. The bread was salty but presented well. They were big portions but the flavor was missing. Nothing was real hot. The tuna served medium was overcooked and hard. Tiny scallops portion. The Brussels sprouts were hard. The soup was very thick but good. Caesar salad was good. It was ok but I would not come back here.

Yelp
Came in to listen to Camille K perform. GREAT performance. Our meal: scallops and risotto and a Caesar salad. The risotto was UNDER cooked. Scallops were good. Alexis our server was on point.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Florida. Seminole guitar hotel. Awesome steaks. Amazing desserts. Best key lime pie presentation. Their seafood tower is incredible. Great service. Went back a year after a birthday party celebration and the waiter remembered me. Wonderful decor. So convenient to gamble and dine. Able to support large parties. Expensive yes, but you're in a casino so that is to be expected, but well worth the price.

Yelp
The food fantastic! We got filets, cooked perfectly. The sides are sharable; potatoes are delicious! As were the drinks. Our server helped us choose cocktails. She was very attentive and knowledgeable, nor to mention enjoyable to talk to. We love eating here when visiting.

Yelp
My husband and I wanted to love Council Oak so badly that we came with higher expectations than we probably should for a bustling casino restaurant. We dine out often and we trade off between fine dining establishments and places some may consider to be hidden gems. When we decided to make reservations for my husbands birthday we chose Council Oak because he loves dry aged ribeye and we had not visited this particular restaurant yet. We were spending the evening at Hard Rock and figured it was a good choice. We checked in prior to our 7 pm reservations and waited about 10 minutes or less to be escorted to our table. The restaurant was much larger than i anticipated and did not have a romantic ambience. Our table faced the boardwalk and I had a view of the Ferris wheel, which was nice. We were promptly greeted and asked if we wanted bottled or tap. A short while later our server came to see if we wanted any specialty cocktails. We asked for a cocktail menu and he left to grab it along with food for another table. Once he brought the menu he gave us time to peruse. We both ordered a specialty cocktail and bread was brought to the table as well. The bread was reminiscent of a salty pretzel with dense dough and I wasn't mad at it. We ate several. We started with the Maryland crab cake, which was a lump crab cake with little filler, over a Dijon mustard sauce. We both would give it a 7/10. It was pretty good. Not blow me away I must order this again good, but nice. For our entrees I got the filet mignon with bernaise and my husband did the dry aged ribeye. We also did the lobster Mac and cheese and the bacon brussels sprouts special. My steak was cooked perfectly. However, our Mac and cheese was room temp, and didn't have the flavor of lobster or any lobster visible. The flavor wasn't bad but it just could have been warmer if not hot. The Brussels would have been better roasted rather than steamed, and they were also not hot. However, we did not bother telling our server as we only like to send things back when there is an actual major problem. The server was very kind and did a great job. He tried getting my husband to order dessert since it was his birthday but he was too full. So our server brought out a complimentary bunt cake. I don't want to review it because I don't like to look a gift horse in the mouth or whatever the saying is We decided to take our leftovers with us ( to see if the Mac would be better heated later) and they brought the containers to the table for us to package everything ourselves. This is probably a Covid protocol that stayed, but usually at diner dining establishments they do it for you. Again, no biggie. We aren't helpless. I just was expecting a bit more as far as food and experience and was left feeling like it was all just okay.

Yelp
My husband and I like to enjoy a cocktail at a fancy bar before or after dinner. We decided to try the Council Oak Steaks & Seafood. They had live music and bar was pretty. I ordered a lemon drop martini and my husband had a Hendricks and tonic. Drinks were terrible! My husband said his Hendricks and tonic was almost not drinkable, not sure how you can mess it up. My martini wasn't good either. When the bill came we were shocked at the prices, especially since they weren't good drinks. The martini was $22.50! Insane. No prices on the menu.
google avatar

Helen W.

Yelp
Heather was our server and she was great ! She was really nice and attentive. The other servers were also attentive and kept refilling our drinks. For the apps, we got the beef tartare, octopus, and short rib. The apps took awhile to come and they were all spaced out. We would finish 1 app and a few mins later, another came, and so forth. The octopus and short ribs were so tender and flavorful. The beef tartare was bland. I had the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. I had a side of chimichurri sauce and it was tart. I barely tasted the garlic or seasoning. The asparagus, lobster mac and cheese, and creamed spinach was very good. The crème brulee was vert good.

Yelp
I was very hesitant before coming due to the reviews I have read online; however, I am glad to say that I did not experience any of the negativity those reviews mention. This was my third time to hard rock AC, and since my first visit, I have wanted to come here. The staff, especially our waiter, were excellent, professional, and friendly. My drink was good- a bit strong but I would rather it be more strong than not. Both meals were delicious! I got the lobster pot, and my mom got the salmon special. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes to split- SO good! Definitely expensive, but that's expected at a resort and a restaurant that is classified as a fine dining steak and seafood house. I would eat there again.

Yelp
Sunday brunch a must! Well worth the $75 all you can eat w unlimited mimosa. I felt like I was at a cruise. The stations are impressively presented. Bakery, raw bar, almost mussed the carving station ! Food is abundant! Betty was the hostess w the mostest. Love the live music. And as if you didn't eat enough as we were heaving, there's a box of candy coated almond to go. Amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Terrible host situation, the hosts act like they're the doormen at Vegas' hottest club, so rude and disrespectful everyone trying to get a table for dinner without a reservation. The waitstaff was great though even though the food was pretty bad. I've never sent food back but this octopus texture was that of an eraser, gross, and I most def sent it back. The wedge salad was surprisingly really good and the Mac and cheese wasn't bad. I would NEVER go back even if you paid me to eat here.

S L.

Yelp
Filet mignon was great, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Every single side we tried was amazing (lobster mac, homestyle mashed, potatoes au gratin, Brussels). New England Clam Chowder was perfect. Will return!
google avatar

Yelp
I always compare steak Houses to Peter Lugers. Unfortunately, not even close but still very good. The bacon and meatballs appetizers were as good as it gets. The porterhouse for 2 came out rare as we ordered. While delicious, it just lacked the grilled flavor that would have made it great rather than VG. The Brussels Sprouts were great. For dessert the cheese cake was great. A very good meal with VG service in a great setting. Enjoy!!

Yelp
Went before a show. Advised server that we had a show at 7pm to get to so she was aware. Restaurant doesn't open till 5pm sharp. Took a while to get 1st round of drinks. Finally ordered and ordered 2nd round of drinks. So two of us got the bone in ribeye ($86). Cooked perfectly and was delicious. My wife was equally happy with her Filet. Her an I both ordered side of scallops(2). I got both of mine. She only got one. In the interest of time, I gave her my second one. 2nd round of drinks came and my Manhattan was in a different glass. I half jokingly told the server that I think they short changed me some liquor. She said no it was just a different glass and normally I would have left it at that, but it was more than a little. So I poured the new drink into the old glass and showed her the difference. Ok all is well except food hadn't arrived at the table and it is 6:40. Flagged down the manager and explained it. He said they were plating the food now. Indeed the food did follow, but of course we felt rushed and no time for dessert. Manager took off charge for one round of drinks and the side of scallops. So food was good and probably would go again.

Yelp
2nd time here we had Alex again in the lounge . We enjoyed the singer they had tonight she was awesome and of course our server was just as awesome heheh ...onion soup sucked this time around but the steaks were amazing and our cocktails just as yummy .! So will definitely be back again :) Ps try the crème Brulee it's top tier lol

Yelp
Ended up at Council Oak when staying at Hard Rock for an expo. Although we ate really late, not finishing until past 10:30pm, i thoroughly enjoyed(normally wouldn't at the hour). All the sides we got - lobster Mac & cheese, green beans, calamari, fries, etc. were delicious! Service was great as well. Would definitely recommend

Yelp
The service here is spectacular. Our server was Louis and he was fantastic. We went on a Wednesday July 31st. He made sure we were ok and had everything we needed. He was polite and patient with us. The restaurant is nice and clean. Even the bathrooms were very clean and well kept. The food was very good. The espresso martinis were so good that everyone had around two or three. The mash patatoes are so buttery and good. The crab cake are delicious and if your worried about the mustard you barley taste it. The wagyu meatballs were also very yummy and would recommend. THE CRÈME BRULÉ IS TO DIE FOR, something you must get while here. The chiefs do an amazing job. I would totally recommend this place and also having Louis as your server.

Yelp
We were here for my BF's birthday. I'm thinking it is possible maybe the chef is having a bad day. We both like our steaks medium rare, and mine came out as medium to medium well. So it was taken back and got another medium rare. when we ordered our food we were told it'll be about 30 minutes to 40 minutes before we'll get our steaks. It was fine but to wait another 20 minutes or so after that wasn't OK. By this time my BF finished his dinner and I wasn't hungry, but I did have a couple bites of my steak and it was very salty. Hmm was someone in a rush to cook my medium rare steak in a rush?. Anyway, I will never order a steak from here again! I liked my wedge salad with extra bacon, but it was bit too much dressing, was a bit drenched. Service was great. The host was very gentle, and very professional, our server was super friendly and sweet. The place was pretty quiet and it was very very relaxing. We were here before and had a lobster pot, and it was very good.

Yelp
Went here to celebrate a birthday and Council Oak Steaks & Seafood didn't disappoint. We ordered a lot for just 3 of us but managed to clean our plates of the bacon, calamari, asparagus, potatoes au gratin, tuna tartare, lobster pot, and the lone bone ribeye for two. The ribeye was cooked perfectly medium rare and everything was delicious. The service was great and our waiter made great conversation. I'd certainly come back again and you should too!

Yelp
The food was amazing. Service was good. The ambiance was so nice and relaxing with music playing. We sat in the lounge area. You need reservations for the actual restaurant area.

Yelp
Everything about this place was exceptional! The bread was warm and toasty and the crème brûlée was really good. It was the first time I had crème brûlée ever and it made me want to try it everywhere I go. The lobster pot had a heavy teragon flavor but the sea food was cooked to perfection. It's hard to not overcook shellfish with it sticking to the shell. My favorite part about my dinner was the lobster shells being pre*cracked. This made my life so much easier and I was ensured I was not making a mess on myself . Cindy and Alberto both waited on me and they were great. Highly highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing bourbon/rye/whiskey list. Too notch service. Food was incredible, the steaks were amazing. Portions were worth the price. They really want you to enjoy your experience there; very friendly.

Yelp
Horrid. I sent back my steak it was so disgusting, and we just got up left after that. How do you make a bad steak? It was completely inedible.
google avatar

Nakanaela M.

Yelp
The only thing that was good about the visit was Alberto the waiter. We were sat behind a wall between sets of windows before it became crowded. When we asked to be sat by a window, we were told we would have to go back in line. We were ignored by management as they talked to all other patrons throughout our time there. We were served deep-fried lobster... that went about as well as you'd think. I had lobster mac & cheese that had too thick a crumb crust. A server tried really hard to get us out of there by throwing my bread away and poorly handling my mash potatoes. Overall, it was a poor experience for me, I just didn't realize I'd get treated like it was 1960. I'm not coming back If you look like me, go at your own risk.

Lori M.

Yelp
The food and the service were fantastic. We were a party of six and we split a bunch of appetizers that we're all delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and helped us make choices that we all enjoyed.

Yelp
We had dinner here 7pm Sunday 12.4.22 to celebrate my 50th birthday. I had made the reservation a couple of months ago. I was happy they took note of the special occasion and also seated us in a nice booth. We were greeted warmly by the hostess. Our server, Cynthia, provided excellent service. The food was absolutely delicious and the entire experience was perfect. Surprisingly, the beet salad was the star of the evening. It was gorgeous and unique. The tuna tartare was fantastic as well. It came with what I think were taro chips that were dusted with a spice that tasted like BBQ. They were a nice change from the standard wonton crips so many places serve. Lobster was cooked perfectly. This experience blew Barclay Prime away. What we ordered- *Beet Salad - Blood Oranges, Strawberries, Honey, Mascarpone Espuma, Pistachio Vinaigrette *Tuna Tartare - Avocado, Spicy Mayo, Mango *(2) Two lb Maine Lobsters with drawn butter - steamed and deshelled *Lobster Mac And Cheese - Panko and Tarragon *Creme Brulee with birthday candle as a surprise Highly recommend and we look forward to returning.

Yelp
I am going to start this by saying I might be a little bias, I'd never been to Atlantic city before and I was very disappointed. It smells horrible but some people are dressed very nicely. You might think that's irrelevant to the restaurant - you'd be wrong. The restaurant is in the casino facing a lot of the slot machines and right next to one of the entrances. You see and smell everyone. It's overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time. I ordered a Caesar salad and the waitress did warn me it of the anchovies. She didn't warn me that it was disgusting and not edible. I also got a steak which was more disappointing than the salad. I don't remember what the side was but it was all pretty bad. It wasn't very busy but it was almost impossible to get a servers attention. I wanted to send the entire meal back but we needed to get to the kesha concert so we just left instead. I don't think I will ever return.

Yelp
We went to Council Oak Steaks and Seafood before a concert and were celebrating a birthday. Due to the size of our party, we were in a private room, which required a pre-selected menu. The appetizers, sides, and desserts were served family style and each person could select an entree. The food was delicious, esp. the crab cakes. There was plenty of food plus leftovers even though it was served family style. Our server, Nicole, was great. She made sure we were all there when they presented the birthday dessert (sorbet) and wished the birthday person a happy birthday. She made sure we had everything we needed and that everyone had enough water. We had leftovers and asked if it was possible for us to leave the leftovers to pick up after the concert. Nicole was able to accommodate this request. When we went to pick up the leftovers, it was very quick and easy. The restaurant is right next to the broadwalk so you can see the broadwalk from the window. The decor was also very nice. I would definitely come again if I am in the area.

Yelp
Very disappointing....only thing that was spectacular was the service The tartare has an obscene amount of onions and capers....ruined it. Crab cake was good Onion soup was horrid, had to drain the fat off the top, zero flavor was so under seasoned and cheese is overly abundant( I know right how could that be bad) it's so melty that your choking on it and it thick Omg worst cream spinach I've ever had in my life! Someone took the cap off the nutmeg and dumped the entire jar in. Mashed potatoes lacking cream and butter as well as under seasoned Wild mushrooms eh not our fav The prime rib was a miss the one upstairs in the lounge is free and better Ribeye was the better of the two steaks Really was annoyed with how this establishment completely under delivered Oh the butter was good, not as good as buttermilk farms butter but good rolls were basic nothing like capital grill (where I order a second basket) Just really had high hopes I wouldn't waste your money here, looks good but that's about all Fellow New Yorker Keens steakhouse Peter Lugar Old Homestead

Yelp
Overpriced for what you get. Apps were good - the octopus , crab cake and short rib were good. Steak was mediocre and sides just as underwhelming. What is it about the restaurants in Hard rock ? None of the food ever comes out hot - including the food here. And the bill was very high.

Yelp
A romantic atmosphere with professional staff. The French onion soup was very hardy. The beef short ribs melted in my mouth with its savory sauce. While tasting the filet minion, it danced on my taste buds with such delicious flavor.

Yelp
Forgot to take pictures. Our waitress Victoria was fantastic. She paid attention to us like we were her only guest. Was aware that we had a show to go to. Unfortunately one of or steaks came back over cooked. It took over 40 mins for them to bring is a new one. My was delicious the mash potatoes were to die for. The manager did come over to the table to talk to us. But sad it took so long to rectify. .

Yelp
Some friends in the restaurant business had recommended Council Oak and I really wanted to try them so I made reservations. Unfortunately the reservations were too late in the evening so I tried to walk in a few hours earlier. By luck they were able to seat the two of us right away. Thank you to the wonderful hostess on 8/2/2024. I had read many great reviews and then a couple that were not so great. I'm happy to say we had none of those problems and in fact no problems at all. We started with the bacon slab which really was amazing. Cooked perfectly with some kind of smoky sweet magic goo that was delicious. I ordered the filet mignon ($60) and the mashed potatoes. My girlfriend ordered the veal-something. I forget exactly. But my steak was perfect. Hers too. We ordered green beans but they came out as asparagus which was fine because she loves asparagus and my food pyramid is based on meat and starch. I often order filet and have always thought a certain restaurant's EHT had the best. I'm afraid they have to move over now because the filet at Council Oak was really amazing. It had the perfect degree of searing while still being very tender and full of flavor. I love that it is served simply without drowning it in some kind of sauce. It was perfect. ...Really. The server was friendly, smiling, helpful, and attentive. No complaints at all. As we sat there enjoying the food, we both agreed that this is the best steaks we've ever had...and we're older....we've had a lot of steaks over the years. The bill for the two of us, with one appetizer, a couple drinks each, including tax and tip was $300. That's probably more than I expected, but it was worth it.

Yelp
Terrible. I ordered a rum & diet, an appetizer and a baked potato. Took 20 minutes to get my drink. Ok - fine. UNTIL the bartender then tells me he forgot what I ordered. WHAT? I've been sitting there for 20 minutes and my order hasn't even been entered? The manager comes over and says he'll rush it. Ok. Finally I get some food. The shrimp app wasn't very good. But whatever. Not I'm there waiting for a bill. And waiting and waiting. At this point I've been there an hour and revived one drink, a baked potato and an appetizer. I finally dropped my uneaten food and the remaining half of my drink at the host station. Host was super nasty. I will never ever go to this terrible establishment again. The employees are rude and the food isn't very good. Save your money.

Yelp
We got braised short ribs and it was cold, the lobster Mac n cheese was cold, my sister's husband got a tomahawk steak and it was white inside! It was absolutely disgusting for it to be "fine dining." I think they gave us the leftovers from last night. Never going there again.

Yelp
I expected better ambiance here, like more steak house vibe instead of hotel vibe. Also the steaks were very salty & it's $6 just for steak sauce, not one is included. We started off with the Kobe beef meatballs (which is new to their menu) and the waitress sold it as the best sauce in the world. They needed to add more of it because it was very scarce, it was very good, just need more on the plate & maybe another meatball as well. The French onion soup was fantastic & so were my scallops! The butternut squash puree was the perfect pairing along with the truffle Parmesan risotto. I licked the plate clean! The martinis were magnificent, & so was the house made bread so sadly we had no room for dessert. Xoxo

Yelp
I never write reviews, but for being a seafood restaurant as they claim and I am a pescatarian, I couldn't believe how bad some of the fish we ordered was. If u charge crazy prices, ur food should be amazing.. but when the quality sucks, u feel like they are trying to make you look like a fool .. serving you very very sub par quality seafood. Appetizers Caesar salad $16 - delicious Lobster pot $68 - lobster tail sooo chewy, (supposed to be tender) ..king crab legs were not even split, they just throw in 2 pieces and it's fend for yourself... cracked 2 nails to just try and get a small piece out, the shrimp were so waterlogged and gross (costco has far better quality shrimp) .. Meal Crab cake appetizer $24 - only one crab cake - all shredded crabmeat - not one chunk ..prob the worst crab cake I have ever ordered from anywhere - any frozen crab cake u can buy - blows this one away and I guarantee u can make a better one .. $24 for one of these? - is shame on them. Tuna .. $49 - I asked for medium rare .. 4 sliced pieces came out - 2 were "well done" and u couldn't even eat one piece bc it was sooo chewy.. had to spit it out.. the waitress claimed that the top pieces always come well done when cooking (really)?? If u cooked an even piece of tuna - that would never happen).. no way that tuna was sushi grade. Beat salad - had the craziest white blobs on it - couldn't make what it was - soooo bad and just so weird - taste like butter on the salad Desserts excellent .. and I am not even a dessert eater .. crème brûlée is excellent, the chocolate cake, and the cheesecake were great. Honestly shame of this restaurant, u are paying top dollar for a good meal and the quality was so poor ... u can get better seafood at the Cheesecake Factory (making an analogy) but that's the truth

Yelp
My wife and I picked Council Oaks as the special place to dine as we celebrated our first night in Atlantic City. Are we ever happy we did as we loved it! Everything was outstanding. Start with the service. Hostess Betty was lovely. Ashley, who took us to the table, was wonderful. This was a great start. Then it was time to eat and that's when the very skilled waiter Artan took over. We had shrimp cocktail (crispy and big) Cesar salad(perfect)Split a strip steak (tender) and lobster (mostly tender) Asparagus (the dipping sauce was outrageously delicious)and baked potato (not hot enough) The old fashioned was excellent as well. The photo shows the ambience. Couldn't have had a better night - they delivered on every count :
