Full-time traveler here @what are we doing -I’m leaving a review because I saw that a local guide left a “1 star”. First of all, this person probably isn’t even a coffee aficionado and likely doesn’t have developed taste buds. I’ve been drinking counterculture coffee for about six or seven years now. They ship me two bags every month to a different state or location and it comes fresh roasted. The customer service team is some of the best people that I’ve ever had the privilege of discussing issues with because living on the road can be challenging to get high quality third wave coffee. I’ve never been to this LA location, but I will be there in the end of February 2024 and I plan to visit their tastings at 10 if they’re still open. Don’t trust your local guide, they probably drink Starbucks.

I joined the basic barista class here. I love it. It is comfy and enjoyable. Also, they give information as much as you wanna know. First time, I tried to make coffee from espresso machine. Masha is instructor today. She is amazing. The place, the ambience are all good.

If you have never heard of coffee cupping, you have to go in for a coffee tasting. Because this is the best place in town to be for a coffee tasting. How else would you spend your Friday night? No but really, incredible voice here, they love what they do. If you are into coffee like I am, learn to describe and define coffee qualities like a pro.

Don't come here if you want to be disappointed. Me and my mom came here on November 29 for a coffee tasting event and the guy cancelled it last minute. Will not be coming back 👎

Definitely a well-kept secret. Fun experience to learn about high-quality coffee and espresso beans while also getting to sample the finished product! Looking forward to making a return visit.

Very very fruity and bitter coffee. Terrible for espresso or Americano. Stray away unless you like fruity and bitter coffee.

10 p.m. every Friday is a chance to feel their culture and enjoy delicious coffee. I recommend you to visit.

Poor quality coffee. Poorer customer service. Zero response to emails.

Yelp
This is a training location for baristas who serve Counter Culture Coffee. They have free Friday "tastings" at 10am for the general public (tickets available on Eventbrite albeit they do not actually check your ticket). I have participated twice in the past few months and have found their one hour tastings quite informative and it has renewed my appreciation for coffee. The discussions vary based on the questions that come through so if you're a beginner, or aspiring aficionado, bring your questions! Be aware - it is not hands-on. They serve one of their products (May or may not be available in-store) during the tasting. They do have classes in which you can pay for. Also, others might bring their dogs, so if you have any severe allergies or phobias, please take note of it.

Yelp
Everyone here is friendly and knowledgeable. Coffee is dry flavorful. We attended their class for espresso and loved it. They gave us 6 weeks for free of coffee beans.

Yelp
A new location for this company. Based out of Durham NC. They are coffee roasters & this location is for training purposes. At the moment, the classes are for Wholesale Clients. These classes includes Origin of the beans all the way to roasting, different types of methods in brewing, & serving. They are working on classes for coffee enthusiasts. The Grand Opening today consists of a taco truck from Guerrilla Tacos, tasting coffees, the different flavor profiles each roasts offers, seeing the different methods of brewing. The staffs are knowledgeable & very informative. They offer different beans from all over the world. Today, they had a blend from Kenya & Ethiopia. The tones of this blend is fruity, slight acidic, & it does hit the sour notes right at the start. The decor is very modern & contemporary . Lots of hidden storage spaces that is functional & for multiple usage. A nice outside patio & seating area. A Farmers market is just right outside of the establishment in the trianglr lot. Parking could be tough, especially when the Farmers Market is going on because they close off streets. There is a small lot behind the building & side street parking.

Yelp
Outstanding coffee facility in Silver Lake! What sets this apart from all the other great cafes on Sunset is that this is actually NOT a coffee shop. This is just a training center that focuses solely on coffee education. There are free tastings every Friday morning at 10 AM and they offer various courses that anyone can register in, such as home brewing classes, espresso classes, and even cupping fundamental classes! This is a great place for all coffee lovers to come visit!

Yelp
Not as informative as I wanted regarding coffee tasting. Did learn a lot about their company value and what they are trying to do in the coffee scene. Maybe I should look into other more specific classes.
