14 Essential Restaurants in Bellaire

"Co-owners Jaime Robles and Dennis Rhee opened Bellaire’s first brewpub in the Bellaire Triangle Shopping Center, focusing on flavorful, low-alcohol German-style beers. To accompany the lagers, pale ales, and IPAs, the menu features dishes with Korean and Mexican influences like the K-So — a riff on queso dip that combines cheese and a sweet and spicy gochujang glaze with chorizo and roasted jalapenos." - Minh Truong

21 Essential Breweries in Houston

"Bellaire’s first brewpub aims to give residents more than just beer. While the brewery has an emphasis on low-alcohol German-style ales, including its crisp, Nein Schadenfreude, food is also a star here, with a fusion of Latin and Asian flavors. Try its Korean fried chicken sandwich, fish tacos, or their best-selling K-So, a chorizo cheese dip with jalapenos and a sweet and spicy gochujang glaze, and pretzel sticks, and pair with its versatile Munchin’ German light lager, or get into the Oktoberfest spirit with its Pretzel Day beer." - Sean Hekmat, Brittany Britto Garley, Megha McSwain

Yelp
Staff was super nice and inviting. I spoke with the manager to share how much we loved everything. He was very friendly The restaurant was very clean with both inside and outside seating options. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious! The bao buns were super flavorful. My favorite was the sliced ribeye but all three were fantastic. Hubs had the fish tacos. They were lightly battered and cooked perfectly. Flaky and delicate with a great flavor. I had the Korean chicken sandwich. It's going to be hard to try other items to try after eating this sandwich. It was crispy with marinated veggies and slaw or cabbage-not sure which. The sauce has the perfect amount of heat for you to taste it but not feel it. I wanted to try the chocolate pot de crème but my belly was full! Go eat there. It's great.

Yelp
Good beers, great food with super laid ambiance with friendly service...what more can I ask for?!? We've tried so many items on the menu but realized that I've never posted a review. Go to is always the common fries...sometimes with added bulgogi and egg and other times as is. Tacos are also amazing. Beers are solid - a small but good selection for mainstay and few rotating selection as well. If you left room for dessert - I am addicted to the ice cream bowl with magic honey crumble and salted caramel sauce. I love that I have the option to select just one scoop - perfect way to round out meal!

Yelp
So I came here few times and this time is really a bit disappointed. They were not buys but we have waited for 10min and we had to ask someone to take order for us. And we had ordered steak since it's steak night. And for some reason, our plate with a lot less food than customers next table. Well, they do have some good beer. So not sure I will come back here for food hut maybe beer.

Yelp
It's so nice to have a brewery in the Bellaire/Meyerland area! I'm not much of a beer drinker so I can't comment too much on the beer selection (although I did try the current Radler, which was good!). I appreciated that they had a selection of local ciders, albeit small. That didn't matter though as the food was amazing! There were a lot of familiar Korean flavors, as well as some fusion dishes. The fried rice bowl and bao were my favorites. A few of my friends got burgers and tried the fried cauliflower, all of which they loved. We had a huge party of people that continued to get bigger as folks showed up. Our server, Samantha, was very friendly, funny, and patient with us the whole time. Splitting the check was easy. And I love a business who puts back into the community--they are doing a charity promotion for a local LGBTQ organization during Pride month, and also had some LGBTQ vendors there over the weekend. We will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
CCBK is a new brew pub in Bellaire that opened a few weeks ago. My friend and I came here for dinner the evening after the official opening and it wasn't busy. It is located in The Bellaire Triangle Shopping Center a few doors down from Blood Brothers BBQ Since they are new, they don't have many beers on tap right now (only 5 at the time of this writing). They also have cider, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks including coffee. I didn't notice it until after the fact, but they have a Nitro Cold Brew Coffee and a Nitro Viet Iced Coffee which sounds amazing! We opted to do beer flights. Since there's only 5 beer options right now, we got to try most of them. I had everything except the IPA and my friend had everything except the Helles. I really enjoyed the Pale Ale (Thanks a Lot, Erchick). My friend enjoyed the IPA (Copy/Paste #1). Food: The Common Fries - The fries are made in house. These are very spicy because it has kimchi, sriracha, and sriracha mayo (along with green onions, cilantro, and furikake). I tried a few pieces that had a small amount of sauce on it. I knew it was going to be too spicy for me. They were so flavorful, but the tiny amount of sauce on the fries kicked my butt! If you love spice, order these fries immediately. Fried Fish Taco - My friend ordered this and really liked it. It looked really good, but I didn't try any. The Common Burger - Comes with two beef patties, cheddar, fried shallots, and house dill pickles. It's pretty simple, but very delicious! The bread was so buttery and soft. You can make it The CounterCommon Burger by adding toppings like kimchi or a fried egg. Each additional topping is a $1.50 so choose wisely. Bread Pudding -I don't believe this is on the menu, but our server suggested it. It's actually quite small, but it was just the right amount of food because we were pretty full from dinner. It is very good! Our server was nice, but a little slow at times. I noticed a different server was a bit slow with the table next to us, so they're probably still working out the kinks. We were there pretty close to closing so we ended up closing out with a different server. Both of them were very friendly. This place is still pretty new so I imagine they are going through growing pains. CCBK definitely has potential and I hope they do well because the beer and food are really good!

Yelp
3.5 stars for food/service. Will have to come back to try the brewskis. I really appreciated the effort from this place. Great service, clean, and the sauces and pickled veggies were homemade. They tended to be on the more on the tangy side. Cauliflower (3.5/5) - fish sauce flavor was ok, garlic Parmesan tasted pretty good. KFC sandwich (3.5/5) fried well, but nothing really stood out. Grilled maitake taco (5/5) mushrooms were cooked and seasoned great. Loved it with the cotija. Grilled maitake bao (4/5) their mushrooms are really good. Paired with hoisin it was sweet and salty but I'm not a big bao fan.

Yelp
Friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food! Very family friendly and welcoming. I have 3 kids ages 4 months to 4 years old and they did great here. Such a great addition to the Bellaire neighborhood! We ordered the beets and goat cheese, Asian slaw, and several bao. Kids enjoyed the chicken tenders and k-so (made kid friendly without the spicy stuff). Loved all the food and excited to go again!

Yelp
Came for steak night and it was great. $30 for 8 oz wagu NY strip steak, mash potato's and Chinese broccoli. Had a couple pints to go with it. My son had the hot chicken sandwich and we wrapped tings up with their chocolate cake and churros with dipping sauces. All was good. They also had a fellow planing piano, flute and singing pretty good.

Yelp
I'm not really a beer person but I was here for a meeting. The chips and queso are good but there's not enough chips to go around or even to match the amount of queso. This isn't to say that there was a lot of queso there were just that few chips. The chicharrones and guacamole were better proportioned, but I'm not a big fan of chicharrones in the first place. The service was solid, and other people there seemed to like the beer. I wouldn't mind trying their real food one day, the menu looked interesting.

Yelp
I finally got to revisit CounterCommon yesterday, now that the former Cafe TH owner has made improvements to the menu. Every item we tried was amazing and a big step up in quality--total 180 from my last visit a few months after opening. I wasn't expecting so much change so fast--it seems like he has already touched everything on the menu. Everything from the new vermicelli bowl to the kids fried rice was so well-prepared, fresh, flavorful (not overly salty like it was before). On top of that, Chef Minh Nguyen personally came out and gave us attentive and gracious service when he saw the balloons we had at our table for a birthday. I am giving it 5 stars, although other service (besides the chef) was a bit too laid back. I know it was a weeknight, but we seated ourselves and it took a minute for us to figure out on our own that we had to get menus and order at the bar. That part was weird. Once Chef Minh came out, he's the one who ended up checking on us, bringing out additional things we asked for, and delivering our food. I worry he's gonna run himself into the ground if the other employees can't match his energy and level of customer service. I am hopeful they can get there. Either way, this is going to be a regular stop for us as long as the food stays this great. My resident beer snob spouse also enjoyed their brews. Having this near our neighborhood is just the best. Like, when I started enjoying my vermicelli bowl and remembering how Cafe TH had closed, I could've cried. Ok I might be crazy, but you should still check it out. (City of Bellaire, next to Blood Bros)

Yelp
What a great new place! The beer and food are so gooooood! One of the owners, Minh, is always super nice and welcoming. Come try it out!

Yelp
This was my second visit. My biggest problem was deciding which tempting menu item I was going to eat! The Bao and taco portions were entirely appropriate for both the price point AND proper nutrition. The Asian slaw was awesome. The beers are fresh -- natch! Good innovative flavors are everywhere. Plus safe things like their "Bellaire Light" if you want. My server, Sergio, was informed and welcoming. He told me they have "Test-batch Tuesday." If you are a beer adventurer like me, you'll want to check that out! The new beer that week is on for lunch also. #BSWB

Yelp
The beer here was a little disappointing. I had a flight with four of the regular flavors and the "guava". I could detect the guava. The dark beer was very light in taste. The IPA was not particularly hoppy. The food was a little under seasoned. We had the baos, Vietcao and Maitake. Both could have used a little more sauce, as they were a little dry. The friend cauliflower was good- Parmesan garlic, gochujang and buffalo.

Yelp
Great food. Very good beer. Average service. Food options tend to lean toward spicy Korean, which is good if you like that. Some milder menu options are needed. Try the pretzel slices with cheese. We had it without the jalapenos and that was spicy enough. We'll be back just to try the little spears of street corn again. The pulled pork sandwich was just OK. The spicy Korean chicken was as advertised. However, the kitchen should look for a new bread supplier. The buns on both sandwiches fell apart as soon as we picked them up. The biggest disappointment was the service. This was a slow Sunday night. The entrees came out of the kitchen one.. at.. a.. time with several minutes between the time the first person was served and the last in our little party of 3. We always had to flag down our wandering waiter for refills on drinks, extra napkins, and the check. (Hint: You make money/tips on beer refills. Pay attention to your customers!) We'll definitely be back to try more menu items. In the meantime, I hope they give their young wait staff more training.

Yelp
Really happy we now have this place in the area! We eat at Auntie Pasto's and walked by seeing a few places opened up in the Triangle. CCBK was first on our list and they didn't disappoint! We were here with our little, more for food than drinks, but it is cool how you can see into the brewing operation. Everything we had was excellent. The wings - we did buffalo - weren't too spicy, but they were very flavorful. Their ranch is *chef's kiss*. Also got the chicken sandwich which was fantastic. Fries were even good too. We were a little concerned about finding something for the kiddo, but they do have a kids menu. That said, we ended up getting the lemongrass chicken bao. Got it sans Sriracha sauce and it was very kid friendly (that sauce has kick in a great way). Kiddo ate it all. I managed to sneak a taste and was split on which of us got the best thing. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu, highly recommend!

Yelp
We had a great takeout dinner from CounterCommon. The mix of traditional pub food with Asian flairs is great and adds an interesting and delicious new option on Houston's amazing food scene. My favorite dish was probably the fish taco entree--fresh and flavorful, so good. We also really enjoyed the pad see ew, which included lots of crisp bell peppers, and the burger, which was juicy and served with great fries. Great spot!

Yelp
Came in for dinner tonight! I was blown away with how big this restaurant was! Talk about spacious! Arrived just before happy hour was over. I am gluten free so I was very happy to see that they had some wine options for non beer drinkers. Speaking of gluten free, many menu items are GF. Travis our waiter said that many other dishes can be made GF as well. Talk about being accommodating! I love that they have a dedicated GF fryer! That is a huge plus for me! I don't have to worry about cross contamination! I had the veggie taco and order of their hand cut french fries. Both items I ordered for quite tasty. My dad had their wedge salad which was phenomenal. Definitely give this place a try! I will definitely be back sooner rather than later!

Yelp
The diverse menu had lots to sample to please a group of foodie friends. Highlights: Elotites, chicharonnes, tuna tartare, bao buns, Asian fried chicken sandwich, plus bread pudding, chocolate pot de crème, and croissant cronut. All German style craft beers were enjoyable.

Yelp
Great place to grab a beer and watch the game, vegetarian-friendly menu, really nice staff.
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
CounterCommon has a lot of seating. Parking lot can get full quickly but is large. Started with Chicharrones. Very crunchy and ok. The avocado dip wasn't very flavorful. Tried the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich and the sauce absolutely overpowered the sandwich. The chicken itself was good when I tried to focus on that and wiped as much sauce away as I could. I like bread pudding so ordered that and got something that was slightly larger than a golf ball for ten dollars. Seriously. At least the bread pudding was good even though you could finish it in two bites. The jujube paste, however, was a bit bitter. From reading the other reviews, the place is probably better for the beer than the food.

Yelp
New spot in Bellaire that has a great lunch special and good beers (according to the guys sorry I'm not a beer drinker). The service was amazing the space was nice and bright. Only think they might want to add a few more tv's near the entrance. Back to the lunch special for what is included and the price great bang for your buck. I got the the lemon grass bami. Not a pork eater so I didn't have the pork pate on it but it was juicy and flavorful. The fries were yummy and the lemonade was refreshing. Nice to see Bellaire expanding with nice micro brewery like this :)

Yelp
Food was not great. Service and drinks were good. Prices were high considering the food was not great.

Tommie D.

Yelp
Good atmosphere. Good food. Definitely a beer snob place. It was dead at first (lunch on Saturday) but then starting filling up.

Won R.

Yelp
Just ok. Beer is good. Service was attentive. Otherwise they really need to work on food quality and taste. I was excited for this as anyone who lives in Bellaire knows how limited we are in the options around us. The k cheese they taught is served at cold temps and none of the food was worth dining out for.

Yelp
Great food, great beer, great service. Greg is an excellent manager and Sergio was a great waiter. Will be back many times!

Yelp
A little brew pub that just opened in the neighborhood.... The reception was friendly, the food great and the beer, super!

Yelp
Love this new brewery in Bellaire and look forward to seeing great things from them in the future. Highly recommend the delicious kim-chi fries and bread pudding for dessert. I'm not typically an IPA gal, but the Copy/Paste was quite tasty. Give them a try!

Yelp
Food was amazing and beer was great and cold. We had a sampling of food, including burger, bao, and tacos. Service was great! I highly recommend checking out Counter Common!

Yelp
We waited for 15 minutes for someone to sit us. No one ever came so we left. While we were searching for a new place all of a sudden the hostess came out of hiding.
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
Tried a flight of their in-house brews and every single one was fantastic, honestly better than most of the beers I've had at Houston's breweries. Food is also outstanding, this will definitely be a regular stop for me and my partner.
google avatar

Yelp
Exactly the place we need in Bellaire! Food was amazing and beer was delish. We bellied up to the bar and had a sampling of food, including salads, bao, and tacos. Service was the perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive. Our bartender/server, John was super knowledgeable and engaging. I highly recommend checking out Counter Common!
google avatar

Yelp
Great beers and excellent food and dessert menu. I went there for a friend's birthday and knew the owner's sister. Even though this isn't an unbiased review, the first experience was awesome and I will be inviting colleagues there.
google avatar

Stewart H.

Yelp
This place is nice inside and is starting to take off. Since they are new, they are working out the kinks, but the food was really, really good. Beer was good, and they are working out some new flavors. Overall, a great experience. Give this place a try - I bet you will like it also.

Yelp
This is a new favorite! The service is always great (we always ask for Jon - he is fantastic)! The food is amazing! My husband always orders the chicharrons as an appetizer. The elotitos are to die for, and are my personal favorite. We recently treated our friends to dinner, so we tried the K-So with pretzel sticks for the first time - AMAZING! I tend to stick to the fried rice or the cauliflower "wings." Both are delicious and never disappoint. The grilled maitake bao is also good. My husband usually orders the Common Burger, but has tried their wings and the Korean fried chicken sandwich. Their fries are so good - they're even good leftover. Counter Common is absolutely a must-visit!

Ursula O.

Yelp
We are so happy to have a new-Ish place serving their own craft beers and a tasty selection of Latin-Asian fusion foods. The Korean fried chicken was top notch. Servers are friendly, and the owner/manager is usually on site from what we've seen. Plenty of TV for sports -- enjoyed Astros playoff games and World Cup final at the bar -- and no pressure to hurry along. Hopefully, they get with their neighbors at Blood Bros barbecue, which seems a natural. Outdoor tables offer another option when spring hits... next week!!

Matthew M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick drink and stayed for a couple more and some grub. Stay at the bar. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Got the Common Fries and the Bulgogi Bao (both excellent). Excited for Copy / Paste #2 with mosaic! I will be coming back with the family and hopefully the kiddos will like the kids menu...if not I'll just come without them!

Caleb M.

Yelp
Very good beer, brewed on site. Sleek, modern ambience, but very relaxed. Unlike some similar places, not loud and easy to talk. The Asian fusion queso (on the menu as "K-So") is great. Have gotten it both times I've been there. Good service, and a family friendly vibe. Try it!

Dennis S.

Yelp
The menue is very limited. The food was way too hot versus spicey as described. I will not be returning.

Michael M.

Yelp
Great food, people, and atmosphere. Love the nitro cold brew coffee. Will be coming back soon.

Jeff M.

Yelp
This side of town needed a microbrew, and while the beer here is good ( I'd give it a B+) the rest of the operation needs help. The food is rich, but not particularly tasty (except the pad see ewe!) and 1-dimensional food isn't food worth returning for, especially in a family oriented neighborhood like bellaire, it really missed its target audience. SMM isn't exactly up to par either, a could be run much more effectively. Ill probably come back, but only for the beer.

Jason P.

Yelp
Excellent burger, fun food menu overall. Nice spacious interior. Oh and the beers. Really really good. Nice variety of lower ABV styles (helles, kolsch, altbier) executed flawlessly, and the IPA was pretty good as well.

Joshua S.

Yelp
Decided to try this new restaurant and had a pleasant surprise. Typical Houston Asian/American fusion, with Korean fried chicken, Korean style french fries, And other than expected high quality foods. Beer was not the best; but was not bad. I would come back, for sure.

Tessy K.

Yelp
Tried this super cute place out for the first time today and I highly recommend! Great beers on tap and really good food and a ton of variety! Big space and really clean. Definitely will be returning :-)
