Awesome little hide away spot ! The service was very friendly, food was served fast and hot. Tried the fried pickles, I wasn't aware it was a whole pickle spear, but it was well seasoned and delicious ! The blt was also good, bacon was plentiful, and the tomatoes and lettuce were fresh. All around a great experience.

11:00 am on Sunday was busy but no wait for a table. Extremely friendly staff, the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Fried potatoes (made with onions) were perfectly seasoned (paprika salt and pepper). Coffee was great. Cinnamon buns looked amazing but we didn’t try. Parking in street only.

Google
Great place for a quick breakfast. The staff was very helpful and kept my coffee topped off. The sausage gravy and biscuits were outstanding. Great stop for brrakfast.

Google
The food options were very good and the food quality was also excellent. The ingredients seemed to be really fresh and freshly prepared. Not too greasy. Quaint atmosphere and looks like they may allow outdoor seating on nicer or busier days. Wouldn't recommend the orange juice. Didn't try the coffee.

Google
This is the best place for a sit-down meal in Harper's Ferry by a country mile. Come in hungry, but you sure will not leave the same way. Cuban French Toast was phenomenal, and the home fries with a touch of onion were the perfect accompaniment to crispy bacon. Friendly and efficient service. My coffee was never left empty. An equal mix of tourists and locals on a warm Friday morning.

Google
Casual cafe with very good home style hearty breakfast. I really liked thier version of french toast. Friendly service. Reasonably priced. Great if you are looking for quick no fuss meal that is not a product of a chain restaurant. Definitely reccomend.

My wife called ahead to let the restaurant know that we were bringing a party of 14 for my daughters birthday brunch. Normally they do not accept reservations, but they did this one time and we were very grateful. They told us to call them if there were any changes and so I called them, on the day of the event, to let them know that we were down to 13 and on our way. The lady that answered the phone asked if we were going to be on time and I told her yes and that we were already on our way. She then proceeded to lecture me about how busy they were and that we really needed to be on time. I said ma’am we will be there. We get there at 10am on a Sunday and there are 4 tables open and no wait. So I’m trying to figure out why I got lectured and I find out that they only have 2 waitresses and 2 cooks. There are at least 12 tables inside and some outdoor seating as well. They appeared short staffed to me. It took over 20 mins for them to take our order and then an hour to get our food. So again a little confused on the lecture. I will say that the biscuits and gravy are a must try and they have amazing omelettes. They make the omelet thin like a crape with a generous portion of filling so you can taste everything and not just egg.

Google
Food was excellent and priced well. The service was good although breakfast wasn’t cooked fast by any means. We got there as soon as it opened and were seated immediately. I will say that the servers shirts that say “we work harder than ugly strippers” is funny to me as an adult and I usually am not curmudgeon about things like this but a bit hard (and unnecessary) to have explain to your 7 year old.

Yelp
Came in today and were seated right away. Staff was super friendly and sweet. Unfortunately our little one was having BM issues so we couldn't stay but we did get the sticky buns to go. The food coming from the kitchen was awesome. It's not real big but the space works. Would love to come back for breakfast another time!

Yelp
Country Cafe was a nice little gem of a find in the HF area - we were looking for a breakfast spot, and this place delivered! Their menu offers breakfast, lunch, and daily specials - we ordered: +the Hearty Breakfast - comes with 2 farm fresh eggs, choice of 2 sausage patties or 3 thick-cut sliced bacon, home fries, and toast (white or rye) +a side of Sausage Gravy We really enjoyed the meal, as it was all made-to-order, fresh, and seasoned well - the home fries were my favorite, as they were super flavorful, crispy, and I loved the onion slices sauteed in! Really loved that they serve drinks in large cups - your thirst will be quenched! The staff here are super kind, welcoming, and very sweet! I'd love to check out their burgers and soup next time! Plenty of parking on the streets. +tasty home fries +friendly service! +plenty of street parking

Yelp
A great restaurant to stop by when in Harpers Ferry. It's very deceiving from the outside, it doesn't look like much. Though inside it's beautifully decorated and very modern. They have a good amount of tables but definitely fill up quickly. My boyfriend and I got there just in time, after we sat down it quickly got busier and they already had a wait. We sat down and ordered right away. I'm not sure why but the chicken and waffles sounded enticing to me. The chicken tenders were delicious and the waffles are something special. They're sugar crusted so you really don't need much syrup at all - if any. I mean, if you're going all out obviously go for it but be warned, it's delicious on its own. My boyfriend got the French toast and it was great too. Bacon was perfectly cooked and the home fries were tasty. They have a great menu in my opinion - something for everyone.

Nicole S.

Yelp
Had a delightful breakfast with the family. Everything was perfect and delicious! Awesome down home southern favorites. This is a very busy and popular place, so don't be surprised if there's a wait--but it was worth it! The servers took great care of us, too.

Jeanine L.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast food, friendly local folks and travelers alike. Quality food, and great prices. Stop in after touring Harpers Ferry, or a hike on the AT.

Stephen S.

Yelp
Prices were good but food was very mediocre. Honestly, a McDonald's fish sandwich is better than theirs.

Yelp
My husband and I were in the area and looking for a good breakfast place, and this came up on Yelp. I was a little wary - not so much about the negative reviews but about the owner's comments on all of them. Cringey. But I'm so glad we took the chance because this was the best meal we had while we were in town for the weekend. We didn't have anything fancy - western omelet for me, French toast for my husband - but it was just simple, deliciously prepared food and generous portions. That omelet was among the best I've ever eaten anywhere. I didn't try my husband's French toast, but it looked amazing. The prices were good, too. We went on a Friday morning and it wasn't too crowded, but I can imagine it fills up pretty quickly on the weekends. It's very small with probably 10-15 little tables. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a group larger than 4. Service was great. Don't miss out on this place!

Yelp
Stay away!! OK now that I've kept the faint of heart away from this local gem, I will tell you this place is a fantastic down home country breakfast kind of place. Steak and cheese omelet is best, get the rye toast.
google avatar

Phil T.

Yelp
Simply don't have the kitchen capacity to handle the number of tables they seated. They were slammed with hungry patrons and have around 15 tables they were trying to service with a tiny grill. We sat down at 10:15 & ordered right away; food came out at 11:30. Sure it's Memorial Day weekend but we ordered scrambled eggs & grits. This was everyone's experience. We were pretty amazed how they kept seating more people when the wait was so long. The food was fine and the staff was friendly, we should have went to 7-11 next door $ got some cliff bars.

Yelp
We decided to have breakfast somewhere random that morning, and this came up in the search, so we drove here from Manassas, VA. It was to be expected that there would be some waiting to be seated on a Sunday afternoon. Food tasted like what you'd expect from a breakfast joint. The grits, on the other hand, were on fire! One of the best things I've tried in a long time. No complaints about the portions for the price listed. The only suggestion would be to organize their cooking method. As a breakfast spot, I see a lot of areas where they could improve. Waiting nearly an hour for breakfast food is not ideal. I can assure you that it isn't because for many years, I've served over 800 people daily with four cooks, and everything was hot and fresh. Here, they appeared to be cooking for each ticket individually rather than in batches of ten. And with their setup, they can do at least half of that. Again, if I have to wait nearly an hour for ham steak and eggs and grits, there is clearly room for improvement. The service was excellent, but the servers' boy shorts concerned me. Hot food and shorts don't go together. But who am I to complain if the restaurant is willing to gamble on safety?

Yelp
I wemt in during a school day and it was busy. The French toast was good and the staff was amazing. Parking is typical for Harpers Ferry/Bolivar, but I was able to find a spot across the street. They are a breakfast and lunch place, so if you can get there, do it.
google avatar

Maricruz M.

Yelp
Food was very good and it felt like grandma was in kitchen cooking. I highly recommend it
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast stop (and not just because it has a small parking lot and on street parking). Friendly service, hot coffee and a pretty traditional brekkie menu. My western omelet had freshly sauteed veggies and just enough cheese for it to be indulgent without it being too much. Biscuits and gravy were on point, and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. You pay up at the counter when you're done, and there will probably be people eyeing your table while you do.
google avatar

Bob B.

Yelp
We wanted lunch, and waited until noon when we could order off that menu. Food was good, wait staff was attentive. I would go back.
google avatar

Erin F.

Yelp
Honestly my favorite part of the experience were the waitresses. They were hustling and had funny t-shirts that said things like "be patient, there are like 2 of us here".... which is totally true. Did it take awhile to get a table? yes. Did it take some time to get your food? yes. Was it delicious and reasonably priced? YES. It's a small spot. If you want to get in and out for a quick breakfast, then go to McDonalds. If you want a warm country feeling with food fresh off the griddle, then put on your comfy pants and patiently wait for that to happen. I thought it was a little weird that they wouldn't serve us a cheeseburger (which are supposed to be AMAZING) at 12:30pm because they were "still serving breakfast" but whatever- we got sausage gravy over biscuits instead and they were just as wonderful. Go here. you won't be disappointed- just prepare yourself for a bit of a wait, cuz there are like TWO OF THEM working.

Alison S.

Yelp
Don't pass this little place by! A little confusion when we got there, it was 11:55, they gave us breakfast menus, which we would've ordered, but we saw someone else ask for a lunch menu, so we did too. FYI-breakfast stops at noon & lunch starts...I ordered a tuna melt, which can be risky at unknown places, but, I'm so glad I did! Perfect tuna melt!!! Grainy wheat toast, fantastic tuna salad and melty yellow American cheese, grilled to perfection! Hubby ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and that patty was definitely hand patted and perfectly juicy! It definitely makes me want to go back for a burger!!!
google avatar

Troy B.

Yelp
Excellent service and food. The Monster Burger can be a challenge to eat but it's worth it. Hot Dogs are also delicious. Great place for breakfast.
google avatar

Kristy A.

Yelp
Super cute little diner.  We went for breakfast and all the food was good.  Plenty to choose from and plentiful portions.   Service was great.  We were in and out, but didn't feel rushed.   They don't split checks for parties of 5 or more, but for breakfast, that wasn't a big deal.
google avatar

Carlyn L.

Yelp
Favorite breakfast spot! super busy in the weekends for a reason, they have the best little donut holes around.
google avatar

Nora F.

Yelp
It's no joke when Google picked this up at the best breakfast in town. You go Google! We decided to come here for breakfast because I enjoy local cafes when it comes to enjoying the food during our trips. We were served by a nice and sweet waitress, Caitlyn. We ordered 2 over easy and French toast, with bacon. Even the coffee is great at this cafe. They have rye bread so that's what I asked for when the bread option came up but I did ask for grain bread first, but they don't have that. Rye bread is good enough. The breakfast was amazing! Really amazing! From the eggs to bacon to bread. They didn't mess around! The cafe is cute, clean and cozy. Three Cs! I'd highly recommend this cafe for breakfast in town. They make a good breakfast for sure!

Steve E.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service and beautiful location. I had a three egg western omelet that I couldn't finish, and their country bacon was thick and delicious. LOVED it!!!

Yelp
Had a bad experience today. I have been coming here for years (since 2019). When 340 was recently shut down, I drive out of my way (45 minutes) to come here with my family and show support, with the traffic/customer route being cut. I came by today 20 minutes until 12 with my two children. It was admittedly busy inside. The kids are picky eaters, but have food-favorites here and usually order the same thing. A new waitstaff person was there and was fairly indifferent and unfriendly--not a big deal, as they were busy. We got breakfast menus and drinks. 15 minutes went by before she returned--no big deal, again they were busy. The kids were expecting lunch, it being noon, and I asked if it would be possible to get hotdogs for the kids. "Nope!" was the answer, followed by, "There are folks waiting here for breakfast, you know," her voice dripping with contempt. Surprised, I wasn't sure how to respond, so I asked for a minute to figure things out. After this, we were ignored by her and the other waitperson (who I am familliar with and think is usually excellent) for over a half hour, literally serving those around us. I finally went up to the register to settle the debt for the drinks (we should have just walked out), and left with the kids for Burger King. I wasn't angry about this at first, but given time and reflecting on it, I am now. The attitude of this new waitperson was a total "F- you", and I was honestly surprised that this was becoming the comfort-level of this place. I am not sure I'll be back for a while. If I do, I'll let the owner know--she's an excellent and no-nonsense type of Lady. Running a small business is hard; having good people represent you can be even more difficult. The food remains excellent, but this was a mess of a day, especially with two kids in tow.

Peter G.

Yelp
Don't order the waffles, the batter is packaged and not made on-site. It was not mixed well, it was bitting into undissolved pieces of sugar.

Yelp
Love getting breakfast here when we're visiting my daughter. The fresh donuts are so soft and delicious. The service is fantastic too. It's a little place but the staff is great and the food is fantastic.

Charlie K.

Yelp
Lovely diner, wonderful food and staff. We currently live in Jefferson County & frequent the diner as much as possible, planning to move to southern WV in the summer but when we return to visit we will go to the Country Cafe
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Loved this little place. Breakfast was delicious. We had the hearty breakfast and western omelette. Hearty was a true way to describe my meal, the home fries were outstanding!! My husband had the western omelette and it was huge and according to him "fantastic". Highly recommend.

Renee W.

Yelp
The service and food here was phenomenal. I enjoyed the quaint cafe as the atmosphere was very warm and inviting. My daughter enjoyed her meal and ate every bit of her French toast. I had the steak and cheese omelet which was delicious, and the coffee was good as well. My daughter and I will definitely be coming back. The staff was professional, kind and welcoming.

Yelp
Very rude! They did not tell us that they were closing at 3pm. My husband left to grab something after ordering (about 10 minutes). While I waited for him to return the food came. The owner yelled across the restaurant at me saying "we are closing at 3, I was wondering why are you not eating ! " I was a shocked that a restaurant owner would order a customer to eat faster ! When I told her we can go sit outside if this would help (I was being sarcastic) she seriously told me she wanted to go home and close the restaurant!! It was 3 min after 3pm Unbelievable! Their customer service is a joke! The Burger was bad... zero flavor. It tasted like bargain club burger meat with a little bit of greens and a tiny piece of cheese that was barely the size of the patty. I could have gotten better and at a McDonalds. The "chips" were cheap bag chips and tasted bland not worth over $10. My husband had sweet potato fries. The fries potatoes were flaccid with old oil. They tasted more like old frier oil then sweet potatoes. 2 Burgers and Drinks in rural WV for $30. I would not recommend their food or that service to anyone. It is a tourist trap for hungry folks going to the national park and they take advantage of the lack of better options. They also set up the receipt tip to show automatically 20%, 25%, and 30% No the standard 15% ... a cute psychology trick / peer pressure trick. The waitress was nice but the owner ruined it. It was my first and last visit there Edit Read the other negative comments the owner is full of excuses, exaggerates and loves to equivocate for poor service rather than fix the problem. Not that it is important, but my husband had a time sensitive project and had a timer on his wrist. He got to the table 14 minutes had elapsed... not 30. I'm disappointed they couldn't wait for us to eat like in a normal restaurant or at least be polite about it. When I worked at a restaurant, we worked till the last customer left of their own accord. If I yelled across the room at a customer, I would be fired. Also, fact that the owner was listening to conversations says a lot. Seeing we are in WV often it isn't about the price it is about the quality of food in relation to the price.
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
French toast and pancakes were delicious as well as the bacon. Service was good; food took a bit longer than we expected but they were busy since it was a Saturday morning. Overall, great visit! We were disappointed that we missed out on getting some of their donuts- get there early if you want to try them! We got there after 9 AM, and they were already gone for the day!

Nikki Z.

Yelp
Cute little breakfast place. Staff was very friendly and always kept your coffee filled. Breakfast was delicious.
google avatar

Ellena C.

Yelp
I've been missing some home cooking comfort food and so happy I found the country cafe, I'm not super social and the waitress was able to pick up on that while still remaining friendly and not letting my coffee cup empty. You walk in and it smells heavenly their homemade donuts are just the best!

Benjamin J.

Yelp
Sat down at 10am and was immediately given drinks and menus. After that, we were completely ignored by wait staff and saw multiple other people order and receive food. Finally at 10:45, we tried to gain the attention of staff and were again ignored. Thanks for the free drinks but won't be going to this location again and neither should anyone else.
google avatar

McKenzi D.

Yelp
This place is so cute! Not much seating, but it is worth the wait to be sat. Diner-like breakfast options. I had the sausage gravy over home fires. To clarify, home fries = big, seasoned cubes of potatoes. They make fresh doughnuts to which sounded wonderful. My friends and I were all happy with our brunch yesterday.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
We had our eye on going here for breakfast but unfortunately slept in too late and missed it by a few minutes but decided to stick around and try lunch, glad we did! I had the hot ham and cheese with sweet potato fries and my boyfriend had the monte cristo with onion rings and everything was delicious. Service was also good. Yes, this place is a little slow but that's expected because it's small and very busy. It didn't phase us, food was worth it. Our waitress was great also. If we lived here we'd be back!

Abigail G.

Yelp
The place screams they don't give a .... The food was yummy and greasy perfect for hangover and we were seated right away.
google avatar

Mandy L.

Yelp
Came here for lunch Pros: - Cute, homey atmosphere with a real fire stove for wintertime - Huge portion sizes for the price (and prices are really reasonable) - Everything was delicious - loved the side pickles and chips - Clean cute one-stall bathroom that promotes poo-pouri - Takes credit card and cash Cons: - Limited parking space
google avatar

Dan C.

Yelp
This place is not the nice local spot your expecting. Been there for the 2nd/last time, both times it has not been busy and it takes almost 45mins to get food and the waitresses don't check on the tables.

Shannon C.

Yelp
The creamiest coffee I have ever had! Ordered an iced vanilla latte yesterday and it was so good we are going back again today to get another before we head out. The owner also gave us free crackers to bring my dad because he was sick which is so generous and thoughtful. Good people. Good atmosphere. GREAT coffee!
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
Five stars, not because this is a five-star restaurant experience, but because it is quite simply a perfect little diner. You know what you want when you sit down at a place like this? They have it, but they do it just a little better than you expect, and with a smile. We love the T-shirts the servers were wearing (with phrases like, "Be patient--there's only like two of us"). But we didn't have to wait for anything. Service was friendly, coffee was good and hot, and our breakfasts were delicious. Seating both indoors and out. We'd come back here anytime!

Lorissa H.

Yelp
Great customer service and very friendly. Order the fish sandwich and it was the perfect size. Loved the crinkle fries too.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing and the service is always awesome. Been going here for a long time and it never fails to amaze me. The food is always great and they always take care of me. I would recommend this place to anyone. My favorite place in town.

Yelp
Do Not eat here. The lady cook and I say the word "lady" generously is VERY rude and unprofessional. Her attitude belongs in a dive bar and not in a restaurant. If you ask her just a simple question she will go off on you and say you the customer are the one with an "attitude". Judging from her size she also appears to be eating some of the profits. If she is the owner she needs to get some business trainer and if she is not the owner needs to have a come to Jesus talk to her about her aggressive attitude. I have eaten here before and found the food to be just ok so I won't be missing anything and neither will you if you dont dine at this establishment. I rarely leave reviews but in this case I felt something needed to be said about the cook. Good luck and there are many other fine restaurants in HF that respect their customers..
google avatar

Hui H.

Yelp
Special foot long hotdog, freshly made for the cafe by Holsinger's meat market. Honestly, the best hotdog I've eaten in America - hotdog was juicy and perfectly seasoned! Perfect after a Harper's Ferry fall foliage hike! The apple cobbler could use a little help though...
google avatar

Robert W.

Yelp
I have eaten breakfast here many times but not during The pandemic, I'm sorry to say. Food is always delicious and the service is quick and friendly. The pricing is reasonable and I plan on going back as soon as I can I recommend it highly.
google avatar

Kit T.

Yelp
Good food, affordable and convenient. It's basic fare, but well done and with good service. Relaxed atmosphere. As diners go, this is how to do it right.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
The staff was great and constantly came back to our table to make sure we had everything we needed. My sons ordered doughnuts and loved them! They are fresh and hot. I had the 3 pancakes which filled me up with a generous portion. Would defiantly come back!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Great place to grab a nice breakfast and a great cup of Black Dog coffee. Hospitality is authentic and generous. Try their burgers - definitely the best in the area!
google avatar

Jon L.

Yelp
This is a great country breakfast spot. Fancy it's not, but clean and affordable yes. They have a fair breakfast menu which they serve til 11am. I opted for the veggie omelet, two eggs with spinach, mushrooms & tomatoes. I added a side of hash browns. I stopped in to visit Harpers Ferry on a Fall Sat morning, not much else was open. Friendly staff and affordable. I would highly recommend for breakfast.
google avatar

Bill C.

Yelp
My kind of place. Delicious cheese omelet. Great Black Dog Coffee! Debbie our server called me sweetie...how did she know? I love it!

Yelp
Was a very clean restaurant with a nice breakfast menu. We were seated quickly and the service was very fast. We both ordered the Hearty breakfast. Excellent food, cooked just the way we like it! Highly recommend the country cafe and general store.
