I ordered the regular combo breakfast. Eggs were fine, link sausage was good, better than the average you can get in other places. The potatoes had too much black pepper (why is this obsession about adding a bunch of black peppers to the country side potatoes??), it’s a shame because they were too greasy. I might come back but it didn’t blew my mind. I like the atmosphere, there is a lot of space, very family oriented. Service was good. If you are looking into breakfast places to try this could be an option but try to go with no expectations and it might be a good fit to you. 4 stars but I would put a 3 if it was only about the food. Caveat: I like food that is more on the balanced side, I understand a lot of people putting a bunch of dressing but I do believe they are missing out. There is so much to enjoy about having the right meal with the perfect seasoning

Very good to excellent place for breakfast and lunch. Many healthy choices on their menu as well as some standard American fare. You order at the counter and they deliver to your table. You also get your own water. Very popular with locals. Sometimes crowded, sometimes not. Many specials every day. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. We've been coming here for 20+ years now and have sampled just about everything on their menu.

This was a brunch recommendation and I’m glad I went! They have a brunch till 2pm, and they have many classic American menu items. The portion sizes are huge! I got the combo and had leftover french toast to take home, while my friends who got the eggs Benedict had so many potatoes it was insane. The place is cutely decorated, with seasonal decor. You order and pay at the front, they’ll give you a table number and your food will come. They also have self-serve water. I found this refreshing for an easy breakfast experience. The host at the checkout was so sweet and kind! Overall I would go here again, I see why it is beloved by the elderly!

Good neighborhood spot. The type of place where you order first, find your own table and they bring the food to you. There is a decent amount of seating inside and out but could be difficult for large parties. We ordered the breakfast burrito, the turkey pesto, coffee cake and rueben special. The service was good and the food decent. Nothing outstanding. You can see they are popular for some with many regular customers.

Kind of an average place. Looks like a place with lots of regulars. Had a Denver Omelet, was good, but again, nothing special. Not a bad place, would come back, but would not make a special effort.

The menu features classic American dishes such as burgers, steaks, and salads. The ingredients are fresh and the portions are generous. The staff is friendly and efficient, making diners feel welcome and well taken care of.

Went for lunch and made a mistake going at noon as it was packed and noisy, but we did get a table. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Sat inside today as it was raining. You order at the counter, and then your order will be delivered to your table. Service was good, we've always liked the food and you get a lot. Today, we had an omelet and almond chicken salad.

Great family-owned restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The veggie scramble and buttermilk biscuit were tasty as well as the buttermilk pancakes. Denver omelette seemed to be lacking in freshness. Our son had the blueberry smoothie which quickly disappeared. We really like their turkey pesto sandwich at lunchtime.

We have been ordering items from Country Gourmet for over 20 years. What we love most is the way that, they consistently offer a regular menu of delicious, high quality, choices and, interesting specials. In addition, their Catering Menu and service is exceptional. What inspired my review today is; I just had the pleasure of placing a "Late Minute", semi complicated order with "Emanni". She could not have been more pleasant, accommodating or patient. Huge Cudos to her and, County Gourmet!!

Given all the nearby places serving breakfast/brunch, this place wouldn't rank high on my list. Years ago it used to be bustling here with nice cozy vibes. It was once pretty popular, especially during breakfast. When I came for breakfast this time, it was pretty quiet. Unlike before when the waitstaff would take your order, you now order and pay at the cashier, and then have your meal delivered. They said they started this around COVID, but COVID restrictions and all have since been lifted. Just kinds of makes it feel like a fast-food experience. The food now is just mid. Honestly, the veggie omelette and scrambled eggs weren't anything special, and something that most home cooks could make. The most disappointing was the coffee cake. They're supposedly known for this, and I just remember it being better before. Mine was a bit soggy on the bottom. Portion sizes were pretty good. It's definitely a dated restaurant that hasn't done any updating, but I don't mind that as much as the very average food and service.

Love this restaurant! Always excellent food, friendly service, lots of parking. Great selections on the menu. I typically go for breakfast. Some times it's busy, and sometimes it's quiet. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It's got a nice family vibe, and they'll do substitutions if requested (I'm not a fan of cream cheese in my eggs; I'd rather have cheddar). I've also done take-out a few times and it works great! Order online and they text you when the meal is ready. I'll be back again!

Nice breakfast place with lots of options (gluten free items, including bakery, too). Easy parking close by, friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. If I want a big breakfast, the San Jose Omelette with a biscuit side is filling. Another favorite of mine is the oatmeal that has a variety of toppings. A pitcher of mimosas (orange or raspberry) is affordable and fun option for celebrations.

Came here after a long hike with my friend. I got the eggs Benedict and a cup of coffee. The service was nice and I have no complaints. The table was clean, and the food arrived very quickly. There was plenty of seating, and we decided to sit outside. Wouldn't mind coming again.

Overall experience: 5/5 Food: 4/5 We really liked our experience here. We came here after church for brunch on a random Sunday in February around 11am. There was parking in the lot that we found fairly easily. We really liked the vibes inside, very cozy, chill, with mostly a seasoned crowd. We like this. You have to order by standing in line and you get a number and they bring the food out. We didn't have a dedicated waiter which is fine. I actually liked that better b/c you don't have much expectations. You also have to get your own water, there is a water station near the side on the way to the bathrooms. I like this too b/c we get to control when we get water as well and it's good to get up and stand instead here and there. The food itself was pretty good. Big portions and the muffin was super big. We ended up taking half of our food home and eating it later on as well. I didn't even touch my muffin and ended up having it for breakfast the next day. Would come here again for brunch after church. Very cozy and comfortable vibes.

I especially like the food here. I always feel well nourished when I leave here. I'm glad I tried their winter arugula salad that was featured on their blackboard special menu. My husband ordered a half Benedict it was delicious and came with some wonderful potatoes. The only irritation was that our tables were not bused.

We've been eyeing this place for decades, but always passed it by. Then girls came for a brunch chat-meet and recommended it. That was the last piece of motivation we needed. Now we are a "member." Weekday brunch appears to be mostly senior and neighbors. That's a good sigh. Senior always watch for good value. Many obviously are frequent patrons, taking their newspaper and sipping the refillable coffee. It's an order-ahead and deliver to your table place. No one seats you and no one comes take your order. The menu is at the entrance and on a "special board." Put simply, standard, no-frill, good-ingredients, well-prepared American breakfast fares. Coffee cake is quite good -- buttery, walnut, and blueberries. Go for the biscuit-based benedict. I think better than English muffin.

i love this place! the service is great and the food is amazing as well. what we got: turkey pesto (10/10 yums): i LOVED the onion focaccia that it came one. it wasn't dry and actually had a lot of flavor. the potato salad it came with was also good. banana french toast (10/10 yums): this was probably the best french toast i have ever had. it wasn't too sweet and the combination of the banana and cinnamon was a perfect combo. this is something i would get again. smoked chicken salad (10/10 yums): personally, i really enjoyed this. the chicken wasn't dry at all. the dressing was pretty sour, so if that is not your style, i'd suggest something else. however, the grapes eere very sweet and paired well with the vinaigrette.

10/19/2024 Country Gourmet 1314 S Mary Ave Sunnyvale, CA 94087 I was in the area on a Saturday morning and tried it for breakfast. It's at the corner with Fremont in a shopping plaza so lot's of parking. I ordered the Mongolian Beef & Eggs off the chalk board at the order counter and given a number stand to take to my table. The interior is a clean tile topped table and chair arrangement with a divider to separate dining areas. My dish and table setup were brought to me shortly. The order consisted of cubes of beef, asparagus slices and scrambled eggs piped with Sriracha sauce over long grain rice. The beef was a little chewy, some of the asparagus was fibrous and chewy and the rice was a little hard. The gravy was a light coating and not very sweet, good. I would request more Sriracha the next time. Service was good with check -ins and other tables got their coffee refilled. The breakfast menu was limited, you won't find a Chorizo Scramble, Corned Beef Hash or Chicken Fried Steak here. Prices are reasonable. I would repeat for the Mongolian Beef, if they have it, not many places serve rice with breakfast in the area.

My family has been going to Country Gourmet for over 25 years. High quality food. Their green salads and soups are wonderful.. everything is good here. Highly recommend.

Country Gourmet has online ordering and curbside pickup. Total win. I love their gluten free egg Benedict on cornbread. Their pozole is also pretty good. They've got ample outside seating and lots of parking. It just makes everything easier. Service is great and their staff is always helpful.

Finally had a chance to try this neighborhood breakfast spot recently with a friend. He had a country breakfast and I had an omelette with a pancake on the side. Their standard pancake is a wheat pancake instead of a typical buttermilk pancake. I was skeptical, but it actually tasted pretty good. With their breakfasts, they offer country style potatoes but not hash browns. Overall the breakfast was fine. Service was minimal. I probably wouldn't rush back.

Best breakfast in town. The Buttermilk Biscuit is amazing. Lunches are also healthy and wholesome. I love ordering at the counter and not getting interrupted by waitstaff except for coffee refills,

Great stop for breakfast on our trip to see Gold Cup soccer at Levi's stadium. San Jose omelet was wonderful. My son loved the chocolate chip pancakes.

I've been coming to the Country Gourmet for many years. Their food is locally and organically sourced whenever possible. The owner is clearly committed to excellence and taking care of her customers; she talks to her customers regularly. She has figured out how to survive in a very tough food service industry, including keeping the restaurant open during and after the pandemic.

Stopped in for a bite and was overwhelmed with great food and flavors. Home-made enchiladas. Turkey pesto sandwich on soft, fresh focaccia bread. We had a couple of natural smoothies,...one blueberry and one strawberry. And topped it off with homemade cookies,...one chocolate chip and one peanut butter. Glad I came in!

I've been coming here since I was 4 years old. My favorite was always the French toast. 30 years later I have get to find a French toast that's quite as good. The place has a homey, old-time feeling. Along with a delicious meal, come here for a coziness and nostalgia!

Came for lunch at 1PM on a Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The parking was full with cars! It was a full house but the cashiers were very efficient in taking everyone's order and getting the line moving. Once ordered and paid, we received on number and found a table to sit down inside. The restaurant has a country, homey feel. A good place to meet up with family and friends. The food is good portion and yummy!

For many years, we've met friends at the Country Gourmet for brunch after a run at Rancho San Antonio. These days, our runs have become walks, but this spot remains a favorite for its warm atmosphere and generous portions. The homemade biscuits are a must, absolutely to die for and a personal staple. You order at the counter, and the staff brings your food when it's ready, always checking in to see if there's anything else you need. Since Covid, they've expanded their outdoor seating, making it an even more inviting place to enjoy a meal. Highly recommended.

If you're looking for a nice place to enjoy a version of a good southern hospitality mill with large portions, this could be a place to start at. From the moment we pulled up and parked we noticed that there was a line starting to form outside the door, which from there informed us of how popular this location is. we stood in line for maybe about 5 to 7 minutes prior to getting to place our order at the counter. Which is another way about getting your food out to you placing it ahead of time. Then you get this cool little table topper that has your table identification in the form of a flash card, which I thought was pretty cute and creative. Overall, the service is good. The drinks is a self-serve order. You can see yourself either inside or outside on their patio and our order came out in a fairly reasonable time from when it was placed. Lots of conversation happening around, which was inviting as well. The temperature of the food and the presentation of the food and the taste of the food all past with flying colors lol a moderate size location, which can hold a lot of customers. They also have a small showcase bakery at the entrance with the register where you place, your mail orders. I was also able to use a Yelp elite coupon during our check-in, which was also pretty cool and surprising. All in all a good recommended spot to enjoy breakfast or lunch or brunch with family, friends or coworkers.

We chanced upon this place while we were walking in the town center. It turned out to be great. Variety of options to choose from both the breakfast menu and the lunch menu. There is an espresso bar too, and the cappuccino was delicious! We ordered Mexican salad, enchiladas and the veggie omelette. Everything tasted great. Loved that the Omelette was loaded with veggies which were very well done. Blueberry coffee cake that we took as a side for the Omelette tasted yummy!! Service was great. The place had a relaxed informal setting and was great to hangout with friends for a long time.

Just finished a Father's Day brunch that was outstanding. The service is always top notch with the owner always making it a priority to ensure customer satisfaction. The food is healthy and delicious with so many options and today they have out homemade chocolate chip cookies to all the dads- just another nice unexpected touch. You won't be disappointed and can't go wrong with this family friendly family owned business

Haven't been back here in years. Nothing wrong with it, just haven't been in the neighborhood. I was so happy to see that everything was just as I remembered it. Great breakfast food! Service was good, food arrived quickly. And it just has that ambiance of a family owned restaurant. Friendly staff, coffee filled several times while eating, etc. I had the protein-powered oatmeal. Wanted a piece of the blueberry coffee cake (I remembered that it's sooo good) but it was late in the afternoon and they were out. Wife had the pancakes and bacon. They asked if she wanted the bacon crisp or not. It's little touches like this that separate the denny's from places like this!

I've been going to Country Gourmet since 2002. I live in the neighborhood and my work (close by) used to cater lunch boxes (with sandwiches, salad, cookie) and everything has always been good! But yesterday, since I hadn't been for a long time and was nearby for a meeting, I decided to order from CG. I am so disappointed in my skillet potatoes...as they were so SALTY!! I ordered this to go (close to lunch time)...ordering process was great, food was ready in a timely manner but ugh...there was so much sodium in this and also the coffeecake doesn't need any salt either! I hope CG will fix this as I hope to keep this local business around!

This a very nice mom and pop restaurant! The coffee cake is made from scratch! And the coffee is so yummy!! As a registered nurse the coffee is night shift grade which is perfect! The service is great too! Will be back!

Met a friend at Country Gourmet for breakfast. The cashier was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is a little cafeteria-esq... We ordered the veggie scramble with ham and the eggs Benedict, both were huge and very tasty. It was nice because we both had leftovers! Definitely a nice quiet place to meet and catch up. Will be back!

In the many MANY years I've eaten here I've never had a bad bite of food. Their eggs Benedict is a favorite, with that wonderful huge biscuit in the bottom. Egg is always perfectly poached. I love the almond chicken salad too. And the BLT. Those are my go-to bites. But everything is fresh, takeout is packed with care and they're fast, efficient and everything you want in a restaurant. Since moving from the area (and COVID-19), I haven't had a chance to come by the Country Gourmet for many years. When I lived in Cupertino it was a regular breakfast spot the whole family enjoyed, as the kids grew up. I am so pleased it remains a high quality place - still family owned and operated since 1986! A special treat of memories for my son and I to share today, with great food included!

Been awhile but decided to stop in this morning. Well for one , was up and out early enough as this place can be crowded. So you go to counter order from a medium variety menu ( was here for breakfast ) then take a seat either inside or out. Sometimes I wish it had table order service but this way it does go quickly to order. The inside is very well kept , clean all the time and plenty of people working here to make sure tables are cleared quickly and drinks are refilled lot of bakery good , didn't try any in this trip but when have it is like homemade Staff is friendly and for sure a hometown feel and look , can clearly see this is a locals place but very open to those passing through town. Plenty of parking , no EV chargers but I just have to say overall this is a solid 5 !!!!

On the past, their eggs Benedict has been scrumptious. Not so lately. The eggs are at least a little overdone; the hollandaise sauce lacks flavor - there's no zing to it; and the biscuit, which they use instead of the English muffin, is burned - too long on the griddle. Other dishes we've tried seem to lack salt or other seasoning. The carrot cake needs frosting on the edges, not just on top. We like this place and hope they'll view this as constructive criticism.

I knew I was in for something special when I pulled into the parking lot at prime brunch-time on a Saturday morning and the parking lot was as empty as the tables. Seriously, this has to be the only place around where they not only brew coffee to order, they also plant the beans, harvest them, roast them, grind them, brew, let it go cold and _then_ bring it to your table, or at least that's how it felt waiting for a simple cup of coffee. Disclaimer: it took 19 minutes for my coffee to arrive, so I know they weren't roasting to order, but the rest still stands. Then there's the food. Not much to say here other than despite being served quicker than the coffee (maybe I should have reviewed that first?), my French toast was cold - not just 'sitting on the pass too long' cold, but more like 'taken straight out of the fridge and passed under the bathroom hand dryer' cold. And inedible. Oh, and the 'maple syrup' listed on the menu isn't actually Maple Syrup (isn't Maple Syrup a protected product?) Now I know why you order and pay for your food first... you're more willing to pay when you don't know what a ride you're in for, and it's harder to get your money back.

Food is always delicious, took a friend from out of town and they loved their breakfast burrito. Perfectly filling before a day on the golf course. Enjoyed some of their blueberry coffee cake. Plus is always a win! Perfect weekend spot for brunch. Love how they run their service of ordering first.

Simple menu, simple food and honestly nothing better than that. You order first then sit & they will bring the food over to you. What stood out to me was the gluten free options they have, it was delicious and had multiple options for desserts.

My parents love coming here for their veggie omelets and side of coffee cake, however I was worried that there would be no vegan options available. I was pleasantly surprised that in addition to the oatmeal, they had an amazing Buddha bowl which was colorful and flavorful (also gluten free). Portion sizes are fantastic here. I also got a dirty chai with oat milk which was delicious. This will be added to our rotation of brunch restaurants for sure!

I only ended up here on a Sunday because the nearby new cafe was crowded. Country Gourmet wasn't crowded, so we ordered coffee (after a wait) and took a number. Twenty minutes later, still no coffee. I went to the counter and asked about my order, #82. The question went to the fry cook which caused a bit of delay. Finally I was told the coffee was being made. It came out several minutes later, no napkins. I asked for napkins, they never came. I asked again and at last they came. I deeply regret the $1.50 tip I added when placing my order. I've never been a rabid anti-tipper but experiences like this will inevitably tend to change that.

Great spot for breakfast and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. It's cafeteria style seating so order food first then find a table unless you have a larger party (6 or more maybe) then you let them know so they can put a table together for you. My favorites here are the French toast and blue berry coffee cake. Definitely recommend picking one or the other and getting a cup of coffee with it but if you feel willing get em both and treat yo self! Again great spot for breakfast and will be back!

We returned today at the request of a friend who loves this place and hadn't been in a couple of months. I arrived around 10:45 am on a Sunday and was able to find a handicap parking spot by the door, with plenty more available. As I was crossing to the entrance our friend drove in and soon joined me in the waiting area to peruse the menu and the chalkboard with daily specials. My son soon joined us at 11 am. It was at least half empty when we arrived, with only a couple of tables of people seated outside under the overhang along the front of the building, and as we were leaving an hour or so later, there was a big line waiting to order at the counter before finding a table. When we walked up to the counter only one party was in front of us, and we ordered. Our friend loves the California Coast sandwich (described in previous reviews, also see photo), my son ordered the multi cheese omelet and requested that the cream cheese be omitted. HIs one side was a piece of the delicious blueberry coffeecake. I ordered he CG Breakfast, which was two eggs any style (scrambled), grilled potatoes, and a piece of the blueberry coffeecake in a to-go box for later. There are many other choices I could have made. As you can see, the potatoes were quite plentiful, and next time I may not request them because I was pretty full. My son hadn't had the cheese omelet before, and as he began to consume it he said there was way too much cheese in it, very stretchy too. The menu says "Jack, Fjorland Swiss, cream cheese, herbs" so he only had two cheeses. He ended up giving me at least 3 ounces of the cheese to take home - I wasn't about to let it go to waste. Our server was a very nice tall young lady and she expertly took care of everything for us, with the exception of water (my son went to the water station to get water with ice for himself, and water no ice for our friend). He also ordered a Coca Cola at the counter which our server brought to him, along with the silverware for each of us rolled up in paper napkins, and the ketchup for my potatoes (she asked me if I wanted any before providing it). The table we chose was on the other side of the wall separating the seating by the counter from the dining area (it's marked for handicap seating, and I had my son remove one chair so I could sit on my rollator as usual). We had a very pleasant meal - all the food was expertly prepared and beautifully presented (see attached photos). The ambiance is always very welcoming, the staff members are kind and helpful, and it's never noisy so conversation is easy. Thanks again to the wonderful owners who keep this lovely casual bistro a favorite of many!

Great Fresh food. Mexican Salad is a staple in our house. And the chicken enchiladas are tasty too. Always good service. I wish they would open for dinner again.

I gave the Country Gourmet a great review in 2017, starting, "I don't know why I don't go to the CG more often." Today, the best we could say is, "not bad." Everything was "not bad." And that, unfortunately, is not good. Several things have not changed: Still large and spacious, clean, though it feels dated and a little worn. The system is the same: Order and pay, and they bring the food to you. It used to be quick, now it was pretty slow (even though we went in mid-afternoon on a weekday). The food is still pretty wholesome, with mostly the same dishes. But what's not the same is the quality. It's "not bad." We were disappointed and would compare it to an average diner-level restaurant. The dishes were competent but bland and average. My partner said it was like a meal at an assisted living home--slow, mild, bland. Not bad. I had a BLT. To their credit, they asked how I wanted the bacon and it was good bacon, cooked pretty close to my request. But otherwise ordinary, with supermarket-quality lettuce and tomato (and in September, they should have still been able to find fresh tomatoes), mayo on pretty average white bread. Again, not bad. Likewise for the enchiladas. They looked good but were surprisingly ordinary, without a lot of flavor. The black beans, served on the side, were ok but looked like they had been prepared a few hours ago. We got a lemon bar for dessert. The lemon portion was bright, flavorful, well balanced between tart and sweet but the crust was disappointing. A gluten-free shortbread (I think that was the goal here) is not difficult to make but this one was not very flavorful or buttery. Texture was ok. And the crust was weirdly thick--about three times as thick as the lemon. Others seem to still love the CG but for us, it seems to have lost its mojo.

The care of preparing the food is lacking. For breakfast the potatoes seems like it was made a two to day days ahead. the poached eggs is excellent. Service is good but it seems like the personnel turnover is high. Ambiance is the best thing going for Country Gourmet.

Came here for brunch & had a lovely time! When you come in, you'll be greeted by menus & you'll order everything right at the counter, pay, & seat yourself. A little bit of a different concept than we're used to in the Bay Area, but I wouldn't give them shade for this. They have mimosas by the pitcher- win! They will bring all the food out to you- also win. Outdoor seating is available & standard. Indoor seating is good & plenty. There is a lot of staff and it is clear they work hard, but I wouldn't necessarily label them hospitable- customer service forward yes. So this is where the star docking comes into play. However, the staff seemed very happy when interacting with each other. The food was wonderful & very hardy. It was very delicious, ready super fast, & absolutely perfect presentation. Even when the mimosas came out, we were given nice flutes. I would recommend this location for a super nice calm brunch or lunch with relatives.

I was driving past this area and I was hungry for breakfast so I thought I'd check it out. Set up is more informal in that as soon as you walk in you order and then you choose your seat. You're given a number and a server brings by you food/drinks. I had ordered eggs Benedict with crispy potatoes. My eggs Benedict had well done eggs, the yolk was fully cooked, this is not eggs Benedict. Also my potatoes were supposed to be well done but they were room Temp and not well done. The best part of the meal was that the eggs Benedict is served on a well toasted biscuit- so good. Except for one side was perfect, the other way too thick, with no yolk, it was too dry.

What a great restaurant. Large in and outdoor seating. Go to the cashier line and put your order in. Pay and they give you a numbered puck. Pick a table. They deliver your food to you. A good amount of yummy and delicious plates to enjoy. From soups, to salads, pancakes to benedicts, salads to wines, they have a lot of food stuffs. Lots of parking. Friendly staff. Busboys keep tables clean.

My husband and I both love the Country Gourmet. He can get a breakfast with bangers, an incredible pastrami sandwich, while I get my favorites - the spinach omelette, chicken almond salad sandwich.. there are other favorites. I come with my foodie friend who loves the salads. All of the food we've had is delicious and well-prepared. Healthy & tasty.

Negative experience. I'm allergic to corn syrup. So I double-checked over the phone before dropping by and on the counter while ordering. They said it is real maple syrup each time, but ended up serving corn syrup. They didn't even have any maple syrup to serve.
