Gasthaus Polster – Erlangen - a MICHELIN Guide Restaurant

"In this establishment steeped in tradition – it's been a family business since 1839 – the gourmet restaurant and Polster-Stube have been merged and now offer many Franconian regional dishes on the menu, alongside classical cuisine. Vegetarians are also catered for. There are lovely, comfortable guestrooms." - Michelin Inspector

The hotel is situated in Kosbach, a village near Erlangen. Very nice surroundings and the hotel with restaurant in a former farmhouse is romantic. Parking is good and close to the hotel. My room was large, friendly, clean, a big bed, a fabulous bathtub in the bathroom. Nothing amiss, all very positive. There is a tiny elevator/lift if you aren't up to using stairs. I did not eat at the restaurant, but the menu looks very tempting!||I did have a bad breakfast experience but that was solely due to the woman serving, who overlooked me one hundred percent while asking at the neighboring tables (a couple and a group) constantly whether anything was needed. Coffee, tea, scrambled eggs were brought, used plates taken. Me? I was unable to catch her eye, not for lack of trying. Nearly comical how she never once glanced my way but scuttled off, head down. The husband sitting at the next table with his wife had noticed this and at some stage called "Hello!" and she immediately turned and asked what he wanted. He pointed to me and said: "this lady wants another coffee!" - She then "noticed" me and did bring a coffee, wordlessly and without any "enjoy" or the like. Quite strange. So do skip breakfast if you travel alone. Other than that the place is really good for overnight stays.||Other perks: Around the hotel are ponds characteristic for the fishery and aquaculture that's traditional to the whole area. Carp is harvested here and right next to the hotel is Fishery Oberle, a historic fishery with a brewery and a very good carp restaurant. And Erlangen does have quite a few attractions, the botanical garden as an example.

Arrived here without a booking while touring on our motorcycles. From the outset. The staff could not of been more helpful. They accommodated us in an attic room. This had great views and was incredibly large. The restaurant was very nice. The food was incredible. This was a gem of a place we found while on our travels.

Delicious food, my family and I celebrate every occasion we can here because it's such a wonderful environment. I always leave feeling like I've tasted something I've never eaten before. They're innovative with the menu and eveythign tastes homemade. I'm a vegetarian, and there are always options for me that are really unique and delicious

My husband and I enjoyed a beautifully prepared lunch here, and thoughtful, pleasant service. I think we were in the less fancy of two restaurants, but it was still elegant with pink cloths on the tables and dark wood-panelled walls. We chose from the daily specials - lamb`s liver for one, and venison for the other. For dessert, their creme brulée came with a fruit salad and custard - a nice touch. And, as an extra and unlooked-for treat, our waiter brought us some chocolate mousse he had made that morning. All of it was excellent and we would love to go back. Just for fun, there are fishponds across the street and before lunch, we watched men catching carp. There is a fish restaurant next door.

With two of my friend gone for two days. We had an order for one room, but when arrived we got two but for same price! Very kind. The rooms are clear nice with very nice bathroom, minibar. The breakfast good.||They have a restaurant the food really good, and the beer as well.||The staff and the prices very friendly. ||Overall this is a very smart choose if you are there.

Out in a country town, it's not a destination location but, if you are in the area, it is a lovely family run hotel. The traditional building and furnishings look fantastic but rest assured the bed and other items are more recent and comfortable! Other than the bells ringing loudly at 6 am there were no negatives at all. Breakfast was nice, nothing great but lots of fresh produce and good coffee.

Only ate in the beer garden but the experience was wonderful. From the breaded sheep's cheese with the basaltic eggplant to any of the wonderful entrees that were served to our table, everything was top notch. The server spoke English and menus were available in English as well. Beautiful setting and wonderful food!

A few weeks ago we came here for a birthday party and were really impressed with the food. So, we had lunch here today and again the food was excellent. This is now definitely one of our favourite restaurants.
