What to eat at Hayden Hall, the Loop’s new food hall, now open | Eater Chicago

"Bringing South Side rib tips north, County BBQ — a beloved Taylor Street barbecue that reopened after a long closure due to fire — showcases barbecue expertise tied to Chef Erick Williams (who has connections to DMK and is also the chef behind Virtue), and I noted the stall highlighting those classic South Side preparations." - Ashok Selvam

Nobody Hurt After West Loop Fire Along Randolph Restaurant Row | Eater Chicago

"It sometimes takes a while for a restaurant to reopen after a fire — take County BBQ in Little Italy: ownership said they’re still on target to reopen the first week of December, two years after a fire forced the acclaimed DMK barbecue spot to close, and they’ve released relaunch menus with a bigger focus on catering and a counter-service meat-and-three format." - Ashok Selvam

The portion is small. The BBQ looked really good so I was excited to try it. Unfortunately it was super mushy. I couldn't eat it & had to throw it away. I've never had mushy meat like that before. The fries looked like they were cooked in dirty grease, but they tasted good. Would not recommend the pork BBQ. I would try something else if you go.

Great friendly service with great food every time! Visited several times over the past three months and the experience is consistently perfect with delivery, pickup, drive-thru, or sitdown.

Google
I'll start off by saying my burger was very good. Taste rating on it would be a 4. I had to knock our visit down to a 3 for several reasons. First thing, they were out of ribs at 430 on a Saturday. This made me super sad :( Next, we ended up ordering 2 of the half pound burgers, both with bacon, and loaded baked potato. It took about 30 minutes for our food to be prepared. I haven't been here before but that seemed very long for what we ordered. The 3rd thing was, they didn't add bacon to one of the burgers. It's not a deal breaker, even though it was an upcharge. I just didn't want to wait for bacon after already waiting half an hour (after a 90 minute drive to get to the area) The last thing that could use improvement on our visit was the fries. The taste was good. But they just weren't cooked long enough. Very droopy and some were near raw. I'd like to come back while they were having a better day. Would love to try some ribs!

Google
Pains me to said this as a Texan but this is better than Texas BBQ. They've mastered the staples but there’s enough creativity in the menu to bring me back to town. Reasonably priced sides (Try the apple bacon baked beans) although some what I thought were sides had generous portions and could be an entree (Chicken Bacon Ranch Fries). They make their sauces in house and had a good selection of heat. I needed up taking a bottle home with me. The whole table ended up sharing everything so that we could try it all but surprisingly enough my favorite ended up being the fries pickles. The burger was messy in the best way and the table envy was an original dish called the Big Slop. The Mac N Cheese had the right amount of thickness and the kids loved it. Fries were good on their own or as a food pallet and it was fun trying all the sauces. Lastly, I think backrooms are a good indicator of overall restaurant hygiene and I could have eaten off of the bathroom floors they were so clean. I’ll be back y’all!

Google

Google
Traveling through the area and needed dinner. Ordered food online (easy) and it was ready when specified. The sampler plate was generous - ribs, pulled pork, and chicken. It was well cooked and flavorful. The wife ordered chicken plate, was good and salad side was fresh. Mac-n-cheese was very cheesy, which I like. We also ordered the Korean fries - that was a mistake because we ate those first and that filled us up! The fries were delicious with generous amounts of coleslaw and meat. Just the right amount of sweet and savory. Overall very good with plenty left over for tmrw’s lunch. The prices were also very reasonable. Wish we were around to try the brisket. Tip- sauce your meat before you leave (bottles on table). Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Give them try!

Google
My overall experience was good. The waitress dis a great job making sure I had what I needed. The dining area was clean amd well maintained. Unfortunately I am leaving a 3 star review due to the quality of the food. The baked beans were slightly undercooked and the sauce was to runny. I ordered the beef brisket and I recived what I belive to be pork... I have ate brisket from cost to cost north to south and have never had such a dry stringy piece of meat. If it was brisket you could NOT tell, however there was a good smoke flavor to the meat I recieved. Until next time Thanks the Food Gorilla.

Google
I always order two pulled pork sandwiches “extra lean” and ask them to heat it up for about 30 seconds after making it. I’m glad they go the extra mile. I like how they bring out rolls and butter as an appetizer. They could be kinda slow getting everything out, but that’s minor. The Thick N’ Sassy sauce is my favorite. The staff is nice.

Yelp
1st time being there since they opened a buffet. Very disappointing, food was worse than school cafeteria food. Use to love the place ,but I definitely won't go back. Only thing good was the lemon aid.

Yelp
Had to take a quick trip to Oneida & decided to swing in to this unassuming BBQ spot. We'd seen it once before when we had been camping at Pickett State Park & it was packed. We strolled in around 2:30, so it was not busy. There were only 3 other patrons sitting in an enclosed patio area which makes fit they're dining room. There are only about 20 tables in the place. The menu is on a big chalk board near the window at the ordering counter. They had a smaller floor chalk board that boasts the daily specials. Mr T & I perused the menu & decided on a half-rib basket & a brisket basket. Fit sides, we got French fries, fried okra, potatoe salad & green beans. They had a small tap with 3 different beers, a soda fountain & a large cooler with various soft drinks, energy drinks & a few canned beers. Ribs were fall-apart terrific. Brisket was tasty but a bit on the dry side. Great fries. The okra was perfection (don't tell my mom that is wa as good as hers)

Yelp
GREAT GOOD EATS!! Definitely some of the best things are served here. Baked beans had bacon and sweet apples which might be all time favorite over Mammaws. Creamy cole slaw and extra creamy mayo based potato salad. Pork butt is flavor packed and not dry. Friendly staff. Outside dining or a very nice relaxing inside area. Great for bringing your dog. Sweet tea is so good and Arnold Palmer was extra tasty. Huge Mason jars keep your thirst quenched. Reasonably priced. A must stop spot in the area!

Yelp
I have eaten at a lot of BBQ places in the US and I would no doubt rate this place as my all time favorite. Although they were out of ribs when I ordered my meal (the sampler, which was super cheap) they gave me more portions of the other things they had to offer. This place is amazing. If it were closer to me I'd eat there every day. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
First stop of 2025. We were in the area for the day. We usually enjoy some kind of smoked delicious bbq. However. Today we both ordered 1/4 cheeseburgers with fries and fried mushrooms. Fries were great. Mushrooms were great. Cheeseburgers were avg. nothing extraordinary but just your basic cheeseburger. Fine with us since it is a bbq place. We will be back for more delicious bbq. We stop in a few times a month in the summer. Server was very nice and cordial and another worker came out of the kitchen and he was very nice and spoke. We look forward to stopping anytime we are in the area. Overall great place to eat out. We have recommended to several friends.

Yelp
Friday catfish was great!! Several sides available not just the requisite slaw and fries. The drive through is open so we didn't go inside. Service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
Honestly some of the best brisket I've had in years. Growing up visiting the area, I always got used to only seeing the good ole fast food restaurants. This was a breath of fresh air. Everytime I come back to visit family, I'll make a point to stop by.

Yelp
They have great BBQ. I love to get the loaded baked potato with pulled pork. We love eating there, try it you won't be disappointed

Yelp
The best BBQ I've had in my life! Great service, local, family owned, nice patio, family ambiance.

Yelp
I had the sample platter and all the meat was dry. Very disappointed in food. The waiter was very good attentive.

Yelp
So good. Food top notch. Service is great! They do the best with what they have. Will for sure go again and again.

Yelp
Third time I have had steak here. Better than Outback for their 8oz sirloin. Very tender with absolutely no fat and because the thickness is uniform throughout, they cook it exactly the way you want for every bite! I had the fried mushrooms and they are excellent in light tempura batter. Very casual here for dine in or take out--a great local restaurant.

Yelp
I had the pulled pork with fries and beans. The meat while cooked well didn't have much seasoning and the sauces were too sweet. The hickory sauce looks and tastes like sugar water and liquid smoke. The beans were too sweet. I hate to say it but the best things I had was the fries and ironically the sweet tea. I love to find a non chain restaurants, which this one is, but to me it disappointed.

Yelp
One of the best places with some of the absolute best food I've ever had and is by far my favorite local spot. Prices have went up as it's grown but you get your moneys worth! Try the chicken bacon ranch fries and thank me later!

Yelp
Everything we had was good. The Apple pie is super flaky and delicious! It is a must-have when you come here. I ordered the smoked chicken with fried pickles. The smoked chicken was cooked perfectly and was full of flavor without any sauce, but the sauce they served with it was sweet and fruity and added a bonus layer to an already perfect meat. The fried pickles were a little too salty if I'm being picky, but it didn't stop me from eating them. The ranch sauce was delicious and tasted homemade. The banana pudding is delicious, but not as special as the apple pie in my opinion. I also tasted my husband's loaded potato. It was so full of bbq pork that it was hard to get to the potato. Overloaded potato would be accurate. They didn't skimp on anything. I did not try his pork nachos, but he reports that everything was excellent. Seating is outside, but they fire up heaters on cold days.

Yelp
Wow great samples lier platte easily feed three folks. 5 sauces to try too. Spiced fries good too. Cheese burger good too.reasonable price and nice folks

Wendy V.

Yelp
I'm new to the area and co-workers wanted to give this place a try. My order exactly was: Smokes chicken basket, with sweet bbq sauce, Mac and cheese, fried pickles with ranch, fried okra with ketchup, banana pudding, and a Coke Zero. The chicken was the driest meat I've ever been served. They did not give me the bbq sauce. They also failed to include the ranch I ordered. Now to the fried pickles. It was basically pickles and flour. They were cold. Not even room temperature. The okra was great but not homemade. The Mac and cheese was extremely good. Now to the banana pudding. There were no bananas whatsoever. Nor was flavored banana pudding. It was a major disappointment. Can't believe I spent $20 and the only thing I really ate was okra and Mac and cheese.

Yelp
The food is freaking amazing. We just moved to this area and are beyond happy to have found this gem! The ambiance is perfect with metal tables and a screened in porch area but we mostly bring our food home. Super fast and friendly. Go. Now. Lol

Kimberly P.

Yelp
Ribs and pork chops good. Baked beans awful and so so potato salad. Slaw good. Sauce just ok.

Gordon F.

Yelp
Wow! We were VERY impressed with the food and service of this "out of the way" spot! Of course, if you live in the Oneida area it's right on the way to just about everything. We had the brisket, SUPER DELICIOUS. Served hot and it was moist like it should be. They served it with a kind of a BBQ sauce that was a perfect balance between sweet and savory. I often choose French fries at a place like this, because that's one "does" at a place like this. However, these hand-cut fries [browned to perfection] we SO GOOD that I ate them as though they were the main course!! The restaurant is extremely CLEAN. We haven't been going out to eat much {COVID and all...]. But County's BBQ is the PERFECT PLACE for a "nervous Nelly" like my wife! There 'dining room' is actually a really cool LARGE outside porch. Even though [we went in the winter] the screened in porch is covered with a very transparent roll-upable plastic, there's what feels like plenty of air exchange. They have standalone gas heaters to take the chill. VERY COMFORTABLE! I understand that they're busy time of year is spring through the end of summer..... SO GET YOURSELVES THERE PEOPLE! We will DEFINITELY be back again and again from Clinton, TN. G&H
