Such a great hidden gem in sf! Delicious juices and sandwiches. The peanut butter and jelly ones are my favorite. It's the perfect spot to stop and grab snacks to bring to the park.

Rhonda Leon-Guerrero

Google
I picked up a pre-made ham and Swiss cheese on sourdough. The bread was so soft and yummy. It came with the most delicious tasting ham and cheese! Tomato and lettuce were fresh! It had mayo, but I asked for a packet of mayo and mustard. I could eat this every day! I also purchased a package of nuts, Coca-Cola in a bottle (my fav) Fresh organic blueberries. It's a great little quick deli. Lots of options to choose from!

Google
I love this place. This is my fav. Morning stop for a homemade muffin/piece of cake and a milk. Local business.

Clarissa Gil Orsi

Google
It’s a good place to start your day with fresh juice & natural sandwich as breakfast. They have a lot of options for natural sandwiches: Ham & Egg, Turkey & Cheese, Salami & Tomato, Ham & Avocado, etc. For drinking: lemonade & honey with pineapple or raspberry, and more options. The store is clean, the staff is kind and the prices are great! They really have good options to have a picnic in front of The Painted Ladies. It’s perfect!!

Google
Love this tiny neighborhood shop filled with fresh produce, flowers, fresh-made sandwiches, juices, pastries and more. We have a family member being treated at Cal Pacific Medical Center across the street, and I've been a regular a Courtney's every day (sometimes more than once a day). Favorites: egg salad and avocado sandwich, carrot/ginger juice, fresh tangerines and blood oranges. Really grateful this place exists. Courtney's is cash only, so plan accordingly.

Google
Incredible fresh juice and produce! Super friendly and great prices, never change 🙏☺️

Google
Update! Update! Courtney's now taking debit/credit card payments. Minimum purchase amount $15.00 or $1.00 if under the Minimum. FYI, Courtney's remains a favorite place for freshly made sandwiches and fresh fruit.

Angela Noble

Google
Courtney's is our neighborhood produce market. We stop in frequently stop and get a good deal on some fresh produce. They also have a case of freshly made sandwiches ready to go, simple but tasty and perfect for lunch on a budget. We like to stop in for a sandwich and some fresh squeezed juice and head out to make a picnic of it. It is cash only which is not usually a problem but something to be prepared for.

Yelp
I love that Courtney's is still going strong. This is one of the healthiest places for me to grab lunch (and snacks...and beautiful flowers). From the outside, it looks like a fruit stand, but once you make your way inside, there is so much more. There's always a great selection of pre-made sandwiches (including turkey, bacon & avocado on Dutch crunch), juices with some great blends. Desserts are abundant as well as beautifully curated fruit salads and flowers (including some fringed tulips once). And the prices are very reasonable. One of the other reasons Courtney's is healthy for me is that it's a bit of a trek from my workplace and, if I incorporate walking up 14th St. from Noe to Castro, that's the equivalent of 7 floors per my fitbit.

Carmina D.

Yelp
I love stopping by here for a quick, cheap lunch for under $10. The sandwiches here are my favorite. They also have fresh squeezed juices. It's a pretty small convenience store (no alcohol or tobacco products). A lot of produce and fresh sandwiches. Since it is small, items can be limited and they won't have every thing a grocery store will have but enough to make a good meal at home. No raw meats sold here. The service is to the point. It could get pretty busy here during lunch time but it moves quite fast since people are usually in and out when coming in. They also sell flowers, some chocolates and candies, and coffee beans which they can grind up for you. Great place to make a pitstop if you're visiting someone in the hospital too. They were cash only for the longest time but now accept card with a $15 minimum.

These guys know what they are doing, alright?!

Ziyan C.

Yelp
We stopped by for sandwiches on a Saturday afternoon. The PBJ was great! Strawberries were a great addition! The Prosciutto sandwich was a bit of a let-down, a little stingy on ingredients and it didn't taste too fresh.

Kathryn C.

Yelp
Courtney's is a neighborhood, corner grocer. They have great, fresh fruit that's very reasonably priced for SF. They also have all sort of sandwiches, my favs being the ham with boiled egg and the PBJ that has strawberries inside. They're charming and friendly and just an amazing neighborhood gem! They also have great, fresh squeezed juice.

H B.

Yelp
Love this place. Fresh juice, sandwiches, fruit daily. Tiny little place but great produce and a great place to grab lunch.

Ran T.

Yelp
They carry almost everything I need: fresh fruits, juice, sandwiches, instant ramens, veggies, milk, yogurt, cheese, nuts, pastries, etc. All in better quality and better prices than most farmers' markets. If they start carrying sushi or prepared fish dishes I don't think I need to go to other grocery stores anymore.

Gary D.

Yelp
We love Courtney's our neighborhood market for fresh produce, flowers, bread, cheeses and the best sandwiches at great prices. Our neighborhood gem.

Selina W.

Yelp
Courtney is crucial to my daily/weekly schedules. How many times has Courtneys saved my a** cuz I never have time to eat something/skipping meals : 293849238x They have a loading area that I always use bc I'm always on the run. **Cash Only. I've tried pretty much every sandwich. This is a true SF gem, lets keep these small biz alive to save the small gems that SF still has :') The owner just recently passed away... I hope Courtney stays around for many years to come. Thank you for always making those sandwiches and juices!!

Dick S.

Yelp
Places like this don't exist in SF anymore. Sometimes you just need a 5$ homemade sandwich. No frills. The PBJ and strawberries on the cinnamon swirl bread is beyond delicious. Love they still rock that old delivery van and that it's been going since 69'

Sahar N.

Yelp
One of my favorite neighborhood grocery stores. The freshest produce and the most convenient goodies. From the fresh squeezed juice to the mini pbj's and bagel packages - I love them all! Be sure to bring cash!

Courtney M.

Yelp
Love it and not because we share the same name- the pasta salad is that good. I also love taking what i get to corona heights and having a little personal picnic.

Stephen B.

Yelp
If you can, think of a rugged and more rooted 7-11, or what it used to be. Courtney's is that place. There are so many great sandwiches, I'll come into town just to get one and juice, when I have the chance. It is street parking and easier if you have a small car. There are fruits and other things that is so convenient, and I like bringing friends from out of town here or people who have never been. There is such a great feeling when you enter and it has the vibe of SF there. If you're a local, you'll know it and love it for what it is.

Grace V.

Yelp
Wouldn't go out of my way to go here but definitely a good neighborhood gem. The PB+J great snack - on cinnamon bread with chunks of fresh strawberries. The fellow working is always kind and greets my baby with a smile!

Brian H.

Yelp
I would have given Courtney's a five star rating because thei quality of their produce, freshly squeezed juice, home-made sandwiches and bakery treats is fantastic! But...the staff is exceptionally rude... and they refuse to take any card or contactless payments! They only accept cash. This is a note to the owner of the business: please upgrade to a modern POS system where you can accept contactless card payments. It's 2020 and we're in the middle of a COVID pandemic!

Laura B.

Yelp
Great neighborhood corner store. Lots of produce and dessert treats. They only take cash

Marla B.

Yelp
If Courtney's has been on this corner for 30 years, then I've been coming here for 30 years. I LOVE everything about this little neighborhood gem and always recommend it to folks. Wonderful fresh fruit Beautiful flowers More than adequate dairy case with everything you need and even some items you didn't know you needed. The fresh juices are to die for. Yummy fresh pastries and cookies. Produce is pretty o.k. All very reasonably and competitively priced. I frequently go here for the little sandwiches. Today was no exception after a Dr. appt. I should have stuck to my original choices of Turkey, Avocado, BLT or PBJ. Today I tried something different and it was pretty horrible - IMP. It was Ham and egg (mayo/lettuce) on a hamburger bun. It consisted of 1 slice of ham, 2 slivers of egg and a sprig of lettuce and you couldn't hardly see the mayonaise! This is the only time I have not experienced pure joy and perfection. My fault, but don't bother with this sandwich.

Jennifer O.

Yelp
Fine, good for the neighborhood especially since there's a paucity of stores in the immediate area. (And boy, are some of those hills steep: You'd really better need that tomato, knob of ginger or must satiate a craving for freshly squeezed juice!) On my way to Diamond Heights, I took note of this green grocer corner store and was delighted when they had a 5-minute green curb where I could easily pull up and run in to grab a few carrots for bone broth I'd planned to make. And at $1.99 for a small bunch, I added 2 bouquets of pretty tulips to brighten this gray and misty winter day. Weather, by the way, I actually like: San Francisco is known as the "Cool, Gray City of Love." The owner was crispy polite. Cash is not only king but the only currency Courtney's Produce accepts which is fine. Pick up a bouquet, a quart of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice or some small item you need and forgot at the store.

Matt V.

Yelp
Just went in there today. They're back open with temporary business hours of 8am-5pm. Looks like they did a fair bit of cleaning as well! It's great to have my favorite neighbor store back in biz!

Veronica K.

Yelp
Definitely one of those local neighborhood hidden gems. Fresh, quaint and deliberately specialized in their offerings. Got some fresh squeezed blood orange juice for the drive home which made a lovely addition to my gin and juice cocktail later.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Cash only perfection Got the turkey avocado sandwich and a carrot apple juice Been going here for a snack since 1992!

Adam S.

Yelp
My go to neighborhood grocery store to grab a quick lunch when I'm working in the Castro area. Very fairly priced sandwiches usually no more than $6 depending on what you choose. The food always seems fresh and is consistently tasty. The peanut butter strawberry sandwiches are a hit as usual for ~$2. Very tasty but for the size, I'm not usually willing to spend even $2. I do very much enjoy their other sandwiches though! Bring cash!

Crystal M.

Yelp
The sandwich looked like a basic, normal sandwich, but it was actually DEEELISH. How?! Reasonably priced is not something you hear a lot in SF, but it applies here. Fresh juices, fresh produce - gorgeous mangoes for $1 each. The sweetest strawberries. Litchi nuts. Sorry this review is very rambly, but I'm honestly just thinking about another sandwich.

Anna C.

Yelp
Best and most affordable place to grab a quick lunch. I can get a delicious turkey sandwich, the best pbj, a drink, and a price of fruit for under $8. The pbj is basically a dessert and one of my favorite things in the city. It comes of fantastic sticky cinnamon bread and has fresh arrows inside

Liat N.

Yelp
I came back. I got more orange peach juice. It was still amazing. This time I also tried other juices, but they were just okay (compared to the orange peach juice). Buy the orange peach juice. Am I obsessed with this orange peach juice? Probably. Orange peach juice.

Greg S.

Yelp
This review will be short and sweet - get the Blood Orange fresh-squeezed juice. It does not disappoint.

Tracey A.

Yelp
Well hello there, Courtney. Starving when I dashed into this fresh looking corner produce market I quickly found what I was hoping for: Sandwiches, pre-made. But I waffled a bit as I peered into a small plastic container: that salad it held looked really good. Weighing my options against my hunger I grabbed both, certain I'd be sitting in traffic for the next hour and minimally, eating would make the gridlock more enjoyable. Then something happened which made everything more enjoyable. "$5 please". Five dollars for a BLT sandwich and a salad? What planet did I just land on? Can I live there forever? The sandwich was perfect, not fancy. Lots of bacon (was it Fakin' Bacon? I'm still uncertain) and fresh tomatoes. It's a produce market; of course the vegetables will be luscious. The salad though, is what took my breath away. You know that sort of salad you always think you'll make for yourself but never do? The kind that's filled with fruits and vegetables that require you to do a lot of chopping and dicing before you get down to the eating? This salad was everything I could've wished for: lettuce, radishes, cherry tomatoes, red onions, and lots of chopped fruit pieces, all good, none identifiable. This was a small, thoroughly delicious salad. My chances of popping into Courtney's again soon are about 100%. I didn't see that salad in a larger size but at these prices I think I'll just buy a few at a time. What a find.

Jenna C.

Yelp
A freaking Godsend for people who are stuck at the hospital nearby and sick of cafeteria food. It's a short walk from CPMC Davies campus so it affords a great opportunity to get some air and delicious sandwiches. Word to the wise: show up early to get best choice on sandwiches. One day I came and got this freaking amazing sandwich with a dill havarti, tomatoes, and I believe red peppers on a delicious bread. The next day, the only vegetarian options were a very tiny cheese and tomato sandwich (almost looked like it was made on one of those ciabatta toast things) and an artichoke sandwich, but of which were okay. There's chips and drinks and plenty of fruit. Just note that it is cash only!

Mary Ann B.

Yelp
***CASH ONLY*** Cute little corner store. I love the fresh juices in the fridge. I opted for the blood orange juice and it tasted so good. I think i will try orange and papaya next time. A 16 oz bottle is $3. It is not cold pressed, its fresh and made to consume immediately. I got a tuna sandwich on wheat for $3 also. It's simple here and things are labeled accordingly. Fresh fruit medley $2. I am in love. If you are hungry and need a healthy option come here. Things are priced fairly especially because it is cash only.

Maria H.

Yelp
I miss this place so much! So happy it is still going. The produce is fresh but the sandwiches were amazing! Top pick for me was the peanut butter and jelly with cut up strawberries!

Connor R.

Yelp
Cash Only. Amazing fresh juices and quick ready made sandwiches for $3.50!! Get the PB&J!!

Janini D.

Yelp
Cash only. Fantastic sandwiches, fresh cut fruit, and fresh fruit juices! Veeeery affordable

Ed T.

Yelp
I've been shopping here for 8 years, and it's a real mixed bag. On the one hand, I really like their fresh juices, which are very reasonably priced. On the other, 2 negatives which make me cringe a bit every time I enter the store. First, it's cash only, and if they don't happen to have change (usually, in the morning), you are out of luck. You just have to leave your food on the counter and walk out, because they throw their hands up, saying "sorry, no change". Ridiculous. Second, the owner. She's unbelievably rude to both customers, and especially staff. Today, I bought some juice and had another bag from Safeway with lactose free milk (which they don't sell). She asked me, as if I were a child, accusingly if I had produce in my bag. I said no, and she just glared at me. Extremely unpleasant, and no need for it. Hope this helps: Stick to the juice and avoid the rude owner.

Glen B.

Yelp
Has always been a great go to, known for very affordable sandwiches, great produce, guacamole, asiago pasta salad, and tons of other stuff. Staff has ALWAYS been pleasant. Closed this week for a deep cleaning, not sure when they will reopen. Soon I hope.

Danielle B.

Yelp
Guess what...I still hate Courtneys. My son is always begging to go here after school (all the kids from his elementary school stop in for snacks). On Friday, he picked out a PB&J sandwich. When we got to the register, the saleswoman charged me for two. I was puzzled and then she tried to accuse my 6 year old of stealing a second sandwich in his book bag. Why is a 1st grader going to steal when their parent is buying them snacks? I opened my kid's backpack to prove he wasn't stealing anything and she did not even apologize. It's a weird position to be in to hate a corner store so much but Courtneys is THE WORST.

Costas F.

Yelp
My friend told me about this place on a bleak Monday morning. My day was immediately brightened by their low prices and high quality ingredients. I look left and see freshly squeezed healthy juices. I look right and see a cornucopia of delightful sandwiches. Tuna (my favorite), artichoke, eggs and bacon. Even if it's not on the shelf they will probably make it for you. They even had Young Thai Coconuts there as well which for me is a delicacy. Every time I pass this place it's a must go and I recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood. The only thing that's takes away is that it's cash only.

Alfred R.

Yelp
The best place ever when it comes to fresh juices fruited and produce! Don't forget the amazing freshly prepared salads and sandwiches to go!!! This is a mom and pops that deserves citywide recognition!!!

Janice C.

Yelp
First impressions are everything. When I was still on dayshift, I stopped by at Courtney's one time to get coffee at 6:30 am. Such an ungodly hour calls for caffeine. What it doesn't call for is snippy bad attitude from the woman at the cash reg, who OBVIOUSLY has not had her cuppa joe. (or a man named JOE, whatever the case maybe) I would've given her my 50 cents to pay for the coffee, if I hadn't used it on the damn MUNI! All I had was $10! Her response in a mocking tone: "Well. You're buying coffee so you can just get change. I see what you're doing." (well, she ended up having enough change in her cash reg, so her POINT was???) I forced myself to be the ADULT in this situation, so I put on a fake smile and said, "THAT is all I have" As I walked away from the store, my evil twin took over: "you know what you should've done?! hurled that hot coffee in her face! the old hag can go to CPMC across the street if she needs treatment for her 2nd degree burns!" * eeevil laughter in the background * Ever since then, whenever I see her there, I simply keep walking past the store. On the days when she is NOT there, I buy some of their produce. Their mangoes and papayas are sweet and priced right. (TIP: if you see the papayas priced at 99c/lb, you know it's ripe already or sometimes too ripe). I've tried their sammies too. I like my simple ham and turkey. Their fresh squeezed juices are so good! My favorite is the strawberry lemonade, although its not available all the time. Good neighborhood store and friendly staff. (except for you know who)

Jess L.

Yelp
This is a super sweet corner store with lots of fresh vegetables, pre-made goodies, and some "staples" like cheese and crackers. They had a super awesome deal on Brussels sprouts for 99 cents a pound! We emptied the joint! The people who work here are really nice. It's not too crowded, either. The non-credit card purchases are pretty tough, though.

Jade T.

Yelp
Having this corner store 3 blocks from out apt was golden. Fresh juices and mini sandos were super affordable. They also have an array of fresh produce and flowers. Cash only!

Marcus E.

Yelp
Whether you are looking for some decent priced premade food on the go, some fresh juices or a place to get some fresh produce, this is the spot. I got a veggie burger, beet juice, kettle chips and a half pb&j (with strawberries inside) for $11 bucks and it was all delish. I so wish I lived in the vicinity of this cute little gem of a store. Definitely a favorite.

Joyce H.

Yelp
I drive 40 miles from South Bay just to get peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from Courtney Produce II for my boyfriend. The sandwiches here are really great. They use strawberry jelly and then cut fresh strawberries to bury inside the sandwiches. The bread is a fluffy marbled cinnamon bread. Delicious. I usually call ahead to make sure they still have sandwiches because it's a long drive. One day I called ahead and asked them to save me some. Not only did they save some from me, they specifically made me extra sandwiches so I could take some extra ones home. Amazing customer service. It made my day. Overall great place. Beautiful flowers, fresh fruit, yummy sandwiches and always worth a long drive to visit.

Norah M.

Yelp
I just LOVE this place! I live nearby and enjoy a good walk to get there and always am thrilled to see the huge amount of gourmet sandwiches available. I'm known for buying 4 or more to last me a day or two and then share with friends. And, the staff are always pleasant. It's a pretty little store inside and always enjoyable to go to.

Mark S. I.

Yelp
+4 stars for the 'take-no-prisoners' attitude towards sandwich making! Rawr! Plus - all handmade, under $5.50 +4 stars for friendly and/or terse service. Works for me. Just keep the sammiches coming.

Merrick W.

Yelp
Love Courtney's! Such great produce, excellent prices, and amazing PB&J sandwiches! If only I lived closer I'd be there several times a week. Support local businesses like Courtney's!

Julia Q.

Yelp
This place is great. They have fresh juices and affordable sandwiches. I had just worked out and wanted to eat a healthy bite before going to eat five slices of pizza to gain the calories back. Courtney Produce has beautiful produce and lovely juices. The people who work here are very kind and kind of give the store a family feel.

Jake D.

Yelp
The best! Great produce, flowers, mini-sandwiches, non-mini-sandwiches, fresh squeezed juices (carrot + ginger), baked goods, non-baked goods. People are nice, and it's on a nice quiet block, too.

Robin P.

Yelp
This "produce market" is such a disappointment. I can't even call it a produce market - hence the quotes. They don't use their space wisely, have a very low inventory of produce, and what they do have is often way past it's prime. I went there most recently for leaf lettuce. All they had was some spring leaf lettuce in a ziplock bag. What kind of produce market sells their lettuce in a ziplock bag? They did also have some iceberg but it was about a week past it's prime. I left empty handed and headed to Safeway if that says anything. Embarrassment. Avoid and go to one of the city's real produce markets.

Cassandra J.

Yelp
After seeing an article on SFWeekly featuring the Peanut Butter & Jam sandwich at this shop, I *knew* I had to go here and try it. What's so special about a PB&J sandwich you ask me? It's hard to say... get a good quality peanut butter, a robust strawberry jam and two very fresh slices of white bread and you have an awesome sandwich. But somehow Courtney's Produce found a way to take the perfect food and bring it to sainthood. Seriously, this sandwich should be put on a shrine and worshiped. Picture this: two very fresh and soft slices of CINNAMON bread, huge GOBS of creamy peanut butter, a sweet and fruity SLATHERING of strawberry jam, and the best: CHUNKS of fresh strawberry... all mashed into a half sandwich shape. Dear gods in heaven, I didn't know you could take perfection and make even better. I sat outside and I savoured every single bite of that sandwich. For $1.50, I would taste that every single day if I could. As it is, whenever I'm out on my bike for whatever reason, I will be taking a side trip up to the Castro to grab me one of these. There's a cooler full of other types of sandwiches, but I'll be honest, I was there for this PB&J sandwich only. The bottled drink selection was a bit slim for the pickings, but I found a juice that worked (I wanted an energy drink and there's *zero* energy drinks at this place, at least when I was there). TRY THIS SANDWICH, YOU WILL NOT BE SAD.

yana n.

Yelp
The only place I know with fresh juice at these prices, it's incredible. Flowers, fruit, sandwiches, and other produce - my go-to neighborhood spot! Hoping they stay in the neighborhood for a long long time!
