Courtyard by Marriott Atlanta Decatur Downtown/Emory

Over all the room was very nice but not so clean. The bed was terrible they need a new bed the pillow not so great either. The Service very poor. I asked numerous times for towels from 8am. 8am because 1pm and no towels. I asked housekeeping can we please have some towels they told me once they turned overall room. On top of that I ask again 30min later can we please please have some towels i was told they didn't have any ready... very disappointed..

We had to book a last minute room as we had some flight changes at ATL airport. This hotel was absolutely lovely. Ashley at the bistro provided excellent service. We also had a late check in which they took care of with ease! Everything was perfect. Next time we come to the Decatur/Atlanta area we will no doubt be staying here. The area is also SO cute with lots of incredible restaurants and shops within walking distance! 10/10 would recommend.

We are currently staying here. The hotel staff have been wonderful. The rooms are clean and spacious. Being right in Decatur is so much fun and central to everything. Our first night in the hotel was quiet and relaxing. However, tonight someone has their TV on loud, its after 10pm and its REALY LOUD! I can’t tell which room its coming from so its hard to complain to the front desk. It sounds like its next door but walls are so thin, it could be anywhere. We are on the 5th floor. Also the doors bang shut so loudly it will wake you up. I wish people that visit hotels could be more thoughtful and respect quiet hours. They truly do ruin it for others that are just trying to relax and get a good night sleep. I also wish hotels would sound proof walls between rooms. Its so unnecessary to hear the person next door. Everything is built to save money, not to give your guest the best experience. Cheap thin toilet paper, no bar soap to shower with, rooms not cleaned daily. Yet the prices never come down.

Folks like Ashley and Angel made the visit feel friendly and genuinely geared towards the best customer experience. The facility was also clean, rooms were spacious, and included a fitness center and pool. Will choose this hotel again in the future.

As a casual traveler, I should have stayed at the Hampton Inn next door. The Courtyard is best for those using the attached convention center. Parking is contrived using the underground garage with its heavily marked concrete support posts, then heading up the sketchy elevator to the lobby floor, another elevator to the rooms. The only in house food option is the small Starbucks Cafe, friendly but understaffed, especially at conference start times. Our room's heating/AC ventilation was either off or full blast..no in-between, and as other reviews have mentioned..the doors are noisy when they latch closed. Towels were thin, tp was single ply...do better Marriott. I would recommend FolkArt for breakfast..two blocks away, and Leon' Full Service for lunch/dinner..both fast and friendly.

I am here for travel with work. My rooms ac isn’t working. We asked to have it looked at, at 12pm Sunday. No one came so we asked again by 5pm. Finally someone came and set it to 50 degrees but it still climbed to 76 degrees. I’m a hot sleeper so this is very uncomfortable. At 10pm I finally ask the guy at night for a new room and he told us they were fully booked and he would find me a fan and call. He never called. I went down stairs ant 11 to a new lady and she said she didn’t have a fan. The lady then, now was able to move us into a handicap room which is fine. But why couldn’t they have moved us earlier when I asked? I thought it would be cooler because it said 73 in it. But the ac also doesn’t work in that room and it climbed also to 76 quickly so I’m waking up in sweat. We travel for work often and this is very close to one of our new stores. It’s a shame but I’m going to tell our office we shouldn’t book here. Very uncomfortable and two rooms with broken ac in a row is unacceptable. I felt I was given a run around. Finally thought we had a solution and it’s the same situation.

The hotel was decent and the room was clean. The parking was terrible. The spaces were too narrow. All of the beams were scraped up from cars getting by. The line to get out took over 40 mins because the parking pass stopped working at the exact time as checkout. Each car trying to exit and needed t

Loved the stay even had a chance to write a paper while I was there. I wish breakfast was done alittle better. It would be easier if it was a buffet or something like that. Food was amazing though!!

Wonderful! I had a 1-night stay for an interview on a very busy day for the hotel. Even so, the staff were so kind and accommodating. ROGER, in particular, was exceptionally kind and next-level at his job! Without his help, I wouldn't have been able to show up to my interview the same way. Knowing they had me covered with my check out time was a game-changer. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude. If you want a comfortable, clean, and unique place to stay with fantastic customer service (or, better, people being kind to other people), this is the place to stay!

Absolutely horrible service, attitudes, and the hospitality of this hotel and the associated restaurant, Platez. The staff is very unfriendly and inhospitable to be in the hospitality industry this should be unacceptable. I have never experienced such disrespect speaking to customers either. All the front desk associates were not accommodating or helpful when we asked them any questions or had any requests or concerns. The night desk manager was the worst of all. She was rude, disrespectful and extremely condescending in her tone and speech. And I specified at the beginning of my hotel stay to have "late check out," but the day I check out, a man knocks very loudly on my door early in the morning, opens my door, then proceeds to loudly say "housekeeping! Are you checking out today?" I told him to come back later and I had late check out. He still continues to have a conversation with me still standing with my door ajar and proceeds to ask "what time are you leaving"? Are you serious right now? We are having a back and forth early in the morning about when I'm going to leave because he did not have the courtesy to make an effort and find out first which rooms have a late check out, and even after I informed him I have a late check out, he continued to inconvenience me and ask me further questions about when I will leave for his convenience's sake. My father recently passed, I cannot sleep or stay asleep easily. He woke up an insomniac that specifically requested the hotel for a late check out. I do not appreciate that. I did not want to be disturbed or awakened in the morning. I had to wake up early and decide what time I had to leave, for housekeeping's convenience. I was forced to speak with housekeeping, who entered my room without my permission... also during check in, I saw several bugs scurrying about on the floor... so hygiene and cleanliness is questionable too. Just a horrible experience all around. I would not recommend if you want a pleasant experience with smiling faces and hospitality oriented attitudes. Being from the hospitality industry myself, I am flabbergasted at this hotel and accompanying restaurant, platez, as a customer.

NGL, kind of a shitty hotel. Ever seen one of that classic liminal spaces hotel in London? This is just like it. There's a pool usually empty and a gym, same thing. It's a hotel for business and school meetings in the nearby area. The room was freezing, water didn't really heat up all the way, and house keeping was hella aggressive. Overall fine time.

I popped in for a mini staycation with a couple girlfriends here & WOW! A hidden gem right here in Downtown Decatur! I was checked in by the Director of Rooms. He was professional, well groomed, kind and offered a complimentary bottled water. My check-in was fast & seamless because I used the Bonvoy app. The hotel was absolutely gorgy. It was extremely clean and had excellent amenities. Two of which, were the reason we came. The indoor pool and an active mini bar. The pool was clean and felt so relaxing. At the bar, Tasha made me the best espresso martini I've ever had. 100% recommend this hotel for any occasion!

Wonderful check in service on the night of May 31. He was so sweet and friendly he could tell we had had a long day and greeted us with waters (us being myself and the two pilots in our crew). So that sounds like not much but ayer a 15 hour day a nice cold bottle of water was the best thing to have given us. We all were very thankful. Lovely hotel, higher standard than normal courtyards. Nice gym. No breakfast for free-but there is a Starbucks downstairs it just opens at about 6:30am. Not sure about parking because we flew in. It close to downtown Decatur which is super cute and has lots around it.

Checked in last night for a company training seminar. Room was very nice and quiet. Bed smelled fresh, lots of television channels to choose from, my only complaint was after a 15 hour day, and a 3 hour delayed plane ride I really wanted a hot shower! Well I had that sucker turned all the way hot, and it stayed ice cold. I also found a used towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. My shower was quick because of it. It also has very little water pressure, you know like someone spitting on you. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay. People seem to be respectful in the rooms too.

Good location BUT...If you have allergies or asthma in reaction to feather pillows and bedding, BEWARE of this hotel! I asked for a feather free room (I am severely allergic to feathers) in the online communications with this Courtyard's staff, when making my reservation. Upon arriving, I checked again with the front desk staff, who assured me my room was feather-free, and in fact, mentioned that he could not upgrade me because the other rooms were not feather-free. However, a few minutes after entering the room, I knew something was not right because I started to get watery eyes and chest tightness, which are the first symptoms of an asthma attack. When I checked the pillows, two of them were feather pillows, in the room that was supposed to be feather-free! I called housekeeping to take them away, but no one picked up. I called the front desk but, no one picked up. I called up housekeeping once more, but still no one answered the phone. I finally had to go down to the front desk so the clerk could radio the housekeeper to remove the feather pillows in my room. By this time, I was starting to get short of breath, so I took my allergy/asthma medications to prevent a full-blown asthma attack. The housekeeper came shortly after, and removed the feather pillows, expressing her surprise that they were present in their "feather-free" room. This is potentially dangerous for the health of customers, who may be allergic to feathers. After informing the hotel in writing, and then verbally confirming the feather-free status of the room upon check-in, the indifference and carelessness with which my health-related request was handled dismays me. This is not the Marriott quality of service that I am used to. In the past, I have had to be hospitalized because of my allergies, and I am thankful I was able to prevent an asthma attack at this Marriott hotel, but if I had just taken the clerk's assurance that the room was feather-free, I could have ended up with an acute asthma attack requiring ER care. All because of the carelessness of the staff at this Marriott hotel. I wrote to the Marriott feedback site and was told they had contacted the hotel staff to respond to my feedback. I waited for the 3-5 days that they indicated in their email, for the Courtyard Atlanta Decatur Downtown/Emory staff to respond to my feedback. But no one approached or reached out from that team. Very disappointing. The matter of having feathers in what is supposed to be a feather-free room may be an inconvenience for housekeeping, but it could mean a medical emergency for someone with allergies/asthma like myself. The indifference of this Courtyard's executive team says it all about their customer care---it is ZERO.

Big downgrade in service and comfort since my last stay there over three years ago. Front desk disinterested in going beyond check-in & check-out service. Not very involved in carrying much or way or the other. Example: Someone tried to open the door to my room several times while I had gotten in bed for the night. I kept hearing someone struggling with the door. I went to the door and yelled through it for them to get away. I heard the sound of someone running away. I called the front desk to report it, and the woman could have cared less. At the most, she asked if I would like the maintenance man to check the hallway. If you request. Help with your luggage, not available. Beds have been downgraded. Not very comfortable. Towels are thin & scratchy. Food is very limited. No restaurant. Limited snack services at spaced out hours. Coffee available at spaced out hours. Not going back to that hotel, and it used to be a favorite,

The hotel was clean and accessible. A few of my complaints would be that the bar was closed during the entire visit and the Starbucks/Eatery was closed most of the time during the day and evening. I understand that Covid concerns may be the reason for these closures to avoid guests gathering but guests were still gathering in the lobby with their own store bought cocktails/beers and meals. Most of the reviews for this hotel stated that staff was rude. I actually found most of the staff to be extremely helpful and pleasant, with the exception of one. My contact with Able, Roger and Lamont were absolutely great. Any questions or concerns were answered promptly and in a courteous manner. Nicole, however, when I called the hotel to inquire about a early check in, she answered the phone and promptly asked me to hold and did not wait the millisecond it would have taken for me to say, "Yes, I'll hold." It's the equivalent of feeling like someone hung up on you. After reading reviews about rude staff members that one encounter had me a bit nervous about the rest of my trip. Fortunately, I can say that I was only in contact with her physically once and that was during check out. A bit of phone training may be something that would be useful for her.

So I guess I'll​ start off with ​the things I actually liked about this hotel. The front desk staff were amazing... they are professional and friendly. The hotel also has a little bistro inside that serves many different​ meals and drinks..​. Also,​ there's​ a pretty nice gym. BUT... there's​ was a​ lot I didnt like about this hotel as well. The location wasn't​ the best. It's not a bad location but it was nothing around it. The parking is HORRIBLE​. You have to park in this parking deck and it is so NARROW. It was so hard to park or even back up... the spots are extremely​ small and all the cars are close as hell... My room was nice but my bed was so loud and noisy​... as soon as you sit down it makes noises... if you roll​ over it's making noises...​ I don't​ know if the bed was old or what but it was super annoying. Also,​ the walls are so thin, I literally​ had to go to sleep listening to my neighbor's​ bang their heads against the headboard... I doubt I would stay here again.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, travel had been restricted and I was not planning any trips; however, due to family situation I needed to travel to Decatur, Georgia. There are only a couple of hotels in the Decatur area and the Courtyard was the closest to where I needed to go. It was easy to book the room through the Marriott website, but I would say that the prices were generally higher in the Decatur area versus other areas in Atlanta (Downtown or Perimeter). During the booking process, there were constant notices regarding traveling during the pandemic and links towards each individual states response and guidelines for traveling during the pandemic. When I pulled up to the hotel, they had the doors restricted to either card access or you had to be granted access into the hotel (similar to what hotels generally do at night but this was now the policy during the day). In front of the check-in counters were tables where the keys were presented and where guests were asked to remain (which was approximately 6ft behind the check-in desks). On the tables were printouts detailing the current situation and what services were and were not going to be available during the stay. Since I was only staying for one night these did not apply to me but had I been staying more nights, if I wanted to my sheets changed I would be given a bag with sheets, towels, toiletries, and other housekeeping items and I would change my own sheets and towels, place the dirty linens in the bag and place the bag outside the room to be collected. Considering there were not a lot of people in the hotel nor waiting to be checked in, the process was very quick and the service was good. From the outside, the hotel did not look updated or renovated - it was decent but not brand new - however inside the hotel looked like it had been renovated and updated and had a really nice open lobby. As you entered into the hotel, on the right hand side was the check-in counters, a mini service area with drinks, food, and other items for purchase, while on the left were some couches. Straight ahead was a massive lobby with lots of chairs and tables to sit and relax on. You had to cross through the big lobby to get to the elevators, and along with right-side was a conference room, the business center, as well as other meeting rooms; along the left side was the hotels restaurant (which was closed). My room was on the 4th floor and there were two elevators on either side which could take me up to my floor. The hotel was laid out like a U with rooms on either side and a the lobby in the middle; the window in the rooms would either face the outside or the lobby - my room faced the outside. As you opened on the door, in the entryway on the right was the bathroom while on the left was a open and big closet. The closet contained room for storage, a luggage rack, as well as an iron and ironing board. The big bathroom contained a large sink, a toilet, and a bathtub; bathroom toiletries were limited but the shower had refillable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash (which smelled really nice). Further into the room, on the right side was a little nook which contained the coffee maker and on the left side was a mirror. Along the left wall were mini-open shelves which contained the fridge at the bottom and the ice chest and glasses on top. This was connected to a shelf that had the TV on top of it and that led into the desk which a chair. There were plugs along the wall and lights above the desk - mini lights and a lamp but more lights were needed (especially at night) and while there were plenty of plugs, there were no USB ports. Along the right side were the two double beds with a nightstand in the middle. The nightstand contained plugs and outlets and on the headboard were mini lamps as well as plugs - there were plenty of outlets scattered throughout the room. The beds were big and comfortable, the bedframe seemed old as it kept making noise everytime someone moved - the beds provided a good nights sleep for one night but I am not sure I could handle the noise for multiple nights. The room also contained a sitting chair next to the wall and a massive window which let in lots of natural light. Amenities in the hotel included a fitness center, an indoor pool, a business center, meeting rooms, a restaurant, a mini-service area, complimentary wifi, and a parking garage (not complimentary). Since I was only there for one night, I did not inquire which facilities were open given the current situation. I did use the wifi which was complimentary and did not require a code; the wifi was decent but sometimes spotty especially when you moved around the room. Overall, it was a nice stay at the Courtyard. The rooms were big, the beds were decent, there were plenty of outlets in the room, and the lobby was huge with lots of sitting area.

My stay here started a little rocky as there was an issue with my reservation but the manager on duty took care of the issue very promptly and ensured me that everything was handled. The hotel is located right off of West Ponce and Clairmont Ave and is less than a 3 minute walk to the Decatur Square and other places. They have a covered parking lot at $10 per night so that's helpful. The self-pay parking can be added to your room as they give you a card for in and out privileges during the stay. From the outside, the hotel looks like just another courtyard but walking inside you can tell that there has been a ton of renovations done over the past few years. The lobby area is extremely spacious with plenty of lounging area, a business center, and a bistro & bar. They also have an entire conference center that's connected to the hotel and a small fitness center. The rooms are fairly spacious. My friend had the room with two double beds and it was definitely less space than the room I had with the one king bed. Nothing super fancy about the room or bathroom but the bed was rather comfy. Luckily our room was not on the courtyard so we didn't hear much outside noise. We did have issues with the AC and had to reach out to guest services several times before it was fixed. They also do a very good job accommodating you and your group should you need an additional stay at night or two. Overall, a good experience.

My non-profit has stayed here a few times for a conference at Emory. The location is pretty convenient and the atrium gives the hotel a nice open feel when you walk in. Just be aware if you have a room facing the atrium - you'll probably want to keep the shades closed for more privacy! Just a side note - I didn't think they had great cable options. It was hard to navigate and find movies/shows to watch with no guide channel; there was just a print out with the channels listed.

When I go to a hotel there are 3 things I look for. Cleanliness, bed comfort, and QUIETNESS! This place was clean (except for the used towel I found behind the bathroom door) and the bed was comfortable enough. But damn, this has to be the noisiest place I've ever stayed at! The set up of the rooms is really odd, the windows overlook the lobby and there seems to be no noise insulation at all. Both nights I was kept up past midnight because of people having a good old time in the lobby. The worst part is the noise echos through the long lobby. There are tables near the bar and the first night a large group of people were sitting there talking VERY loudly. The second night it sounded like kids were yelling and running around in the lobby. Definitely something you wouldn't expect from a hotel charging $200 a night. If you do stay here, demand a room that doesn't overlook the lobby!

Beautiful location! Im thinking newly renovated. Modern. The rooms were clean & the bed was comfortable. This hotel is adjacent to the convention center but luckily for us there wasn't an event during our stay so the hotel was extremely quiet. The lobby is one of the most spacious lobbies I've seen for Courtyard. Ample space to relax at their bistro for food & drinks....or get some work done at the media center. If you're in the area this property is a good pick.

Great front desk service. Rooms are clean. Location is perfect for my commute in Decatur. Hotel bar and restaurant are open. Gym is open 24/7. Always a good experience here.

Arrived and was given a room that wasn't requested. When I asked about the room Sekena got upset and called the Decatur Police. Whoa!!! Marriott was kind enough to take care of use even though the police stated that Sekena has done this before and they recommended the Hampton Inn. I would never stay at this property ever again. Even though Manager G states someone would reach-out to I've heard from no one from the organization and Marriott decided to sweep the incident under the rug‼ Say Bonvoy to your faithful rewards members... Bye Felicia, I mean Marriott.

Great location, but we had an absolute nightmare of a stay here. After our first night in the room, we woke up and it was 79 degrees. Seemed off, but we turned up the A/C and headed out. Morning two, it was 80 degrees, so we asked at the front desk; they'd turned up the boiler because some rooms were cold, and the whole place was roasting. They were working on the problem. OK. Went off to spend the day with family. Came back at 9 pm to a hot room - this time with no water. The whole place had no water, no A/C, and no one notified us the whole day. The clerk at the front desk said they had tried to reach us IN OUR ROOM. They had all our contact info, but used none of it. So off we go to find another hotel at 10 o'clock at night with a 7-year-old in tow. This place is new and beautiful, but woefully understaffed and unable to run a place that is habitable. The offer to comp our room for a night when we could not stay there is a ridiculous way to make this up to Marriott members.

Worst hotel I've stayed in over my many years of business and vacation travel. Second and last time that a courtyard does it to me. If I'm writing this review while in the room, then you know it's bad. 1) Woke this Saturday morning to hammering above the room. 2) guest services, maintenance etc are not available via hotel phone. 3) front desk/ guest services doesn't pick up phone period, from initial check in 4)No remote control in room when checked in 5) No room # on hotel room, so we had to guess the room we're in 6) room smelled like paint 7) No local info or brochures in room 8) parking lot is a nightmare and they know about it. 9) Had to go through 800# twice to contact hotel guest services 10) guest services a) sent a remote up with security who couldn't find room and knocked on multiple doors b) I had to open door to alert him c) back to nailing incident, told that I have to take the noise because hotel is under construction and signage was everywhere when I booked, so now I'm blind and just learned from the front desk, lol, not funny d) can't change rooms because they're booked, but you have rooms available under construction on a Saturday morning. 11) Called customer care to issue a complaint but was referred back to front desk to complain because I'm still in room. I wonder how long it will take for them to tell me they can't do anything. So I will get up out of my bed on a Saturday morning to issue a complaint with someone who doesn't pick up the phone and is more than willing to not help me. I'll be positive and try. 13) wish I could've uploaded the insistent hammering sounds. I'm sure I've said plenty but I will follow through with the corporate complaint and as Marriott rewards member am truly disappointed in my current stay. If you've felt powerless in a situation where you've spent your $, I understand.

I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Atlanta Decatur twice in this past year, once in July and again in September for work. July stay was fine however during my September stay I had my camera stolen out of my room by a housekeeping staff member. NO ONE took the incident seriously. In fact, I had to keep reminding them to check in on it and see who had gone in my room. I checked out of the hotel September 7th with no explanation regarding how my camera was taken from my room however I knew it had to be a staff member. The only information I received was that housekeeping had been asked and no one saw it as well as lost and found checked and it wasn't there. Upon check out I left my name and number and asked they please investigate further and get back to me. Two days after returning home I still had not heard anything so I reached out to my meeting contact at the hotel and left a message about losing my camera. Let me state that the meeting planning staff at the hotel are AWESOME and as soon as he found out he contacted and put me in touch with the hotel's GM. When the GM finally got back to me he informed me they would do a full investigation. They went through the key card logs and saw that an employee had gone into my room around 9:00 AM on September 6th despite there being a DO NOT DISTURB sign on my door. The GM would work to get me the money back for my camera and asked that I send the receipt. Well, I sent the receipt and I guess when he saw that the camera and lens combined was over $2,000 he realized this wasn't some little cheap camera. There was no rush to try and reimburse me for my loss. In fact, I had to check in with him on the status of the reimbursement after which he informed me that due to the amount it had to go through corporate. In the meantime, Decatur PD had been notified and contacted me. By now it was September 30th, almost a month after the incident. I will say that once Decatur PD was on the case, my camera was located and returned with 2 weeks! This whole experience really freaked me out and has changed my whole thoughts about hotel. I have to stay at this hotel again for work and am NOT looking forward to it. I feel like I need to be very careful about how I pack and make sure I take everything with me at all times which is a hassle. I shouldn't feel like this! This staff member is now facing felony burglary charges and will hopefully not victimize anyone else but like I said, this whole experienced has left me traumatized. I never received a formal apology from the hotel and am beyond disappointed at how I was treated (except by the conference planning staff) and how the entire situation was handled. My advice to anyone staying here, don't bring nice stuff and if the hotel has or offers a safe, USE IT!

Note that I won't be discussing bed softness or shower pressure in this review; my work has an annual all-day event here so this will just be about the event experience. I'd have to say the Courtyard Marriott has been pretty pleasant the last two years I've visited for this purpose. According to their website, the Decatur Conference Center has 10 total meeting rooms for a total of 15,000 square feet. We were in just one room so I can't say anything about the others. The room temperature wasn't frostbite cold which is always a plus. You could hear clapping and such from the adjacent room but that wasn't a huge deal. Tasteful holiday-themed decorations brightened up the room. Last year, the hotel provided little notepads and pens, but they didn't this year. Not sure if that's an optional feature or not. All of the staffers were quite courteous and pleasant. The breakfast and lunch were both buffet-style and were highly satisfactory. Just give me crispy bacon and I'm happy. The lunchtime desserts of cobbler and apple pie didn't leave us dying of pleasure, but there was baked salmon which was awesome. Between breakfast, lunch, and snacks, I was stuffed. If you're into tea like me, the tea service is Bigelow which seems to be the brand served at nearly every hotel. The women's restroom by the conference area is strange in that there is only one paper towel dispenser, and it's all the way on the opposite wall from the exit/entrance. Who planned that? But aside from that, there was always plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and the bathrooms were kept tidy. And you can't beat the location of the hotel and conference center, right in happenin' downtown Decatur. Once you've finished for the day, you can treat yourself to drinks and/or ice cream only blocks away.

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Courtyard Marriott Atlanta Decatur. The hotel was immaculately clean and appeared to be brand spanking new! The lobby was spacious and welcoming and had many nooks where you could sit with friends and socialize. While I did not find the decor in the room anything exceptional, it was clean and spacious. The staff at the hotel was friendly and efficient. From my experience at check-in to my time spent at the bar, every was very eager to please. What I enjoyed the most about the hotel was its location. It's within easy walking distance to many shops and restaurants. If you are ever in the Atlanta Decatur area I would highly suggest you consider staying at the Courtyard Marriott.

Gym is decent; rooms spacious and clean. Just FYI there is no room service; only clean the room every 3 days. Had a huge wedding the night we were there and my room was essentially above the wedding. The acoustics were incredibly bad so I could hear every single loud conversation and laughter late into the night. So many hotel rooms seem sealed off from outside noise but not this one! I had to blast my headphones to sleep. Nice front desk but the housekeeping is barely around. beds comfortable, Decatur is a nice area. People are good about wearing masks. they

The room is amazing with that said I was disappointed in my stay, they charged to park which is already a down tick since I'm paying to stay there but the parking was a disaster The first two floors were packed the 3rd floor had a few spaces all extremely tight parking took more time than checking in even took. In addition to that there wasn't free coffee and that is a big deal for me I typically stay at Marriott hotels because when I get there they always have free coffee waiting for you but not here after driving 8 hours from Louisiana I was so wiped I was looking forward to that pick me up and all I got from the front desk was "in the morning they'll have coffee you can buy" safe to say I won't stay here again & actually I am looking for another hotel to stay in as soon as I'm done here

This Courtyard by Marriott is a pretty solid hotel in charming downtown Decatur. My husband and I got a free night here courtesy of the Decatur Book Festival, and we were happy with our stay. We would've booked the whole weekend except that it sold out way in advance. Serves us right for taking our time planning a Labor Day trip. Service was fantastic. Every single person we dealt with was friendly and competent. We only stayed one night, and the desk staff learned my name. We didn't get housekeeping during our short stay, but the room was clean, neat, and comfortable. Courtyard isn't a luxury hotel or anything, but I was pleased with what we got. Bed was decent, and the room was spacious. The lobby was nice, and so were the conference rooms where we took in a panel during the book festival. The Courtyard ended up being home base for the festival, which sprawled out across downtown Decatur. The hotel was centrally located, walking distance from a whole slew of great bars and restaurants. I'd love to come back for the book festival, and I'd gladly stay in this hotel again.

This is a lovely hotel in downtown Decatur surrounded by restaurants and little shops. The hotel has a free shuttle, but I didn't use it. The rooms were clean and a nice size with a couch and end table. The bed was very comfortable for a hotel. I slept well! The lobby is large with plenty of seating. The little cafe and the front desk has very friendly staff. The hotel is very modern, and I would stay there again.

I'm pretty much a huge fan of this hotel chain as I have stayed at a handful of Courtyards in the east coast and each experience has been met with quality and comfort. Our stay in this location in Decatur, Georgia was no different this time around. The location is very close to shops and restaurants (there's a Publix complex with eateries nearby, maybe a less than 5 minute drive from the hotel). The entrance and lobby is very spacious and inviting and it has been outfitted with contemporary furnishings and tech amenities such as charging stations for your laptops. There's even a small "Market" convenience stand by the concierge desk where you can pick up snacks, beverages, and random toiletries. Additionally the hotel has ample parking on the premises though there is a fee (I believe we paid $8 per night). Our room had two queen beds, and an additional roll-away, and yet there was still enough space to walk around the room without feeling cramped. The bedding was comfortable and the sheets were clean. As well, the bathroom was pristine. I cannot think of one critique (except maybe the parking should be free for all guests). Otherwise, we had a great stay at this Courtyard Decatur Downtown/Emory and it proved to be the best value for our time spent in Georgia.

The room was HUGE! The lobby is spacious. Take out food and drugstores are close by. Public transit is a stones throw away. Everything is cleaned and sanitized. James the guest agent was the best. He made sure I got my rewards points and he even switched me to a room further away from elevator. The TV was controlled by scanning a bar code so you used your phone as a remote control! The Serta bed was phenomenal. Best sleep I've ever had. I heard ZERO noise during my stay. I just cannot emphasize how huge this room was. It was like triple the size of your average hotel room. The room floors were wood laminate which seem more sanitary and easier to clean than carpet. The study desk was almost 6 feet long with a pull out section. The chair was ergonomically designed which provided hours of comfort. The TV must have been 55 inches if not bigger. Not too many channels but the apps were plentiful. Netflix. Prime. Showtime. The shower had nice water pressure. Paul Mitchell tea tree shower products are provided. They were awesome and these new pump dispensers have eliminated the mini bottles of the past. Great environmental effort Marriott!! The lobby had a beatiful minimalistically decorated Chrismas tree. It was so inviting! Bravo Marriott. I love being a Rewards member!

We stayed 3 nights at this very hospitable hotel. The front check in staff were exceptional helpful and friendly. A special thanks to Chris for his helpful "bad weather " tip . Housekeeping was just ok - had to request twice for them to bring towels after cleaning and removing the used ones. We will again be using this hotel in July when we are back here for our sons wedding. Best part about this hotel is its location. Great neighborhood, lots of nearby restaurants and shops and really close to the Marta station. Only "negative " - room lacked safe.

Excellent location, close to many places to eat, from coffee shops, to breakfast places and a nice downtown restaurant area. The hotel is very nicely appointed and very clean. All of the staff extremely friendly. A couple of things that were not up to speed. The on site Starbucks had a self serve coffee pot and that was it, and it was very weak. The bathroom sink hot water was tepid at best. Otherwise, all was wonderful. We would definitely stay here again. The internet was free, but they did charge $10 a day for parking.

The Courtyard Marriott on Clairmont is an excellent location for a room block when you are throwing a wedding reception at the Historic Courthouse on the Square. The hotel is newly renovated and they did such a good job with the decor and amenities. The rooms are quite comfortable. The customer service by the floor staff is amazing. Normally a hotel like this would get five stars from me. I knocked off two stars because of Whitney. If you're a bride you're gonna want your mother or mother-in-law or a wedding coordinator deal with her. Again, late to post...but here you go.

This hotel is awful.  There are prisons in third world countries with better Wifi. It's essentially unworkable. But worse than that is having a room facing the lobby/atrium. If you do, you will not get a wink of sleep. People are screaming, yelling, and partying in the lobby until the wee hours. Front desk staff ignore it as though they're unaware that HALF THE ROOMS IN THE HOTEL are hearing this noise. The last night of my stay (a Thursday) there was a CHILD'S BIRTHDAY PARTY in the lobby with dozens of screaming and running children until 11pm. When I called the front desk to ask if they could please control the noise they seemed SURPRISED that someone would call to complain. I've stayed here for years and it's ALWAYS LIKE THIS. So obviously they don't care. If you get a room that faces to the street you are ok but if you get a room facing in-- you will not be able to sleep. If I had ANY CHOICE I would stay anywhere else. Unfortunately I come every year for a conference and have to stay here, but it's painful and you should spare yourself if you can.

I guess you'd say I'm a regular here. I stay at the Marriott Courtyard at east twice a year and an a member if the rewards program. I'm not entirely sure whether my issue is with this particular property or corporate Marriott but there has been a general decline in amenities such as a free daily paper, and a complimentary bottle of water. These little touches have in the past raised Marriott hotels above the level of Holiday Inns and Quality Inns. As things stand now, they are no better but they are still relatively pricey. The title extra touches are what drew me to Marriott, but I am inclined to reserve at a local Holiday Inn where you expect very little and usual get it; At Marriotts, your expectations are higher and you are apt to be disappointed. They meet the minimum standards of cleanliness and there is always enough hoist water, but I sure do miss those chocolate chip cookies. They are the little touches that used to set Marriott apart and at a higher level.

This is the most horrible Marriott I've ever stayed in because the room doors slammed so loudly you couldn't sleep! In fact, neighboring doors slamming shook our walls. You can hear people's individual words out in the hallway from inside the room. Don't stay here if you want to sleep. Wait for the Hampton Inn next door to be finished. Loud. Loud. Loud.

The staff was wonderful- the check in people, housekeeping. The folks that work at their bistro were terrific they were great to talk to.

Not Up to Par - Night of the Living Dead This newly refurbished Courtyard by Marriott is nicely appointed, but fails to deliver on the basics, unfortunately. As a longtime fan of Decatur, I've been anxiously awaiting the opening of this hotel. Set in the prime footprint of the former Decatur Holiday Inn, the new Courtyard has been under renovation for more than a year. And at a glance, it looks well worth the wait. Within walking distance of the quaint and hip downtown Decatur area, the stylish and modern hotel seems perfect for a weekend couple's getaway or small to mid-size business conference or event. And maybe one day it will be. But today doesn't seem to be that day, just yet. At the end of the day, the most basic service a hotel provides is a place to sleep. And stylish rehabs not withstanding, this is unfortunately the service that the Courtyard fails to deliver. We checked in later in the evening on Friday, and asked for a late checkout, if possible. Graciously, the desk clerk said we could stay until 1PM the following day, and made a note of it on the check-file (this will be important later, stay tuned). After later returning from a night of dining with friends, we hit the sack well after midnight. Which is when things slowly started to go from bad to worse, like something out of a sit-com. After cleaning up, the first thing we noticed was that the toilet continued to run. Not just the sort of long-time-to-complete-the-cycle-run, but rather more of the very-loud-and-just-never-stops variety. We attempted to jury-rig a solution. But the stubborn toilet won the day and continued it's racket. And for a small room...it really was quite a lot of noise. So, we called the front desk and asked if someone from maintenance could assist. We were told someone would be up right away. 20 minutes later with no help in sight, we called back to check on the progress. We were told something else had come up that the maintenance department needed to work on, but that they'd be up shortly. After 15 or so minutes, we called back and told them not to worry about it; that we would just deal with it; we preferred to go to sleep by this point. 20 or so minutes later, now approaching 2AM and us just having dozed off, was, of course, when the maintenance person knocked loudly on the door. Hop up, throw on some pants, groggily answer the door and politely tell them not to worry about it, we were retired for the night, thanks anyway. And for the next hour and a half, I'm happy to say we slept very comfortably and soundly. That is, until the hotel-wide fire alarm began to roar at piercing decibel level loud enough to wake the dead. Appropriate, perhaps, given that Atlanta is home to many episodes of the fun TV series, "The Walking Dead". Adrenaline and heart pumping, we hopped out of bed and hastily threw on some clothes, preparing to evacuate. And then, after 60 or so seconds...the alarm stopped. Blissful silence followed. I checked the hallway, and all appeared well. I also peeked out the window to the parking lot; no sign of trouble and no emergency vehicles. Warily, we concluded that it must have been a false alarm. Our heart-rate now having returned to within a hundred or so percent of normal, we crawled back under the covers, sighed, and closed our eyes, heading back towards our goal: sleep. About ten minutes later, the fire-alarm strobe-light in the room began to fire. There was no klaxon this time, but the powerful strobe-light combined with the ongoing racket of the running toilet turned the room into one of the creepy corridors from the classic horror movie, "Alien" for about five minutes. Fun stuff. Eventually the in-room-fireworks stopped, and we were left only with the relatively benign toilet noise, something that at this point had become seemingly relaxing in comparison. That is, until... ...8AM and a soft knocking comes on the door, followed by an attempt to open the door from outside the room. I race to the door half-naked and find...the cleaning crew. Given we'd watched in person as the desk clerk made note of our late checkout time of 1PM, this seemed like an odd oversight. Back to sleep. That is, until... ...9AM and the same thing happens. Knocks followed by attempts to open the door by a determined cleaning person. The Siege of Stalingrad might have gone better for the Nazis if they'd had the sheer willpower of the Courtyard Cleaning Regiment. Upon checkout, I smiled and politely told the desk clerk that I'd like to speak to someone about a credit for the night's stay. He thought for a moment and said, "I might be able to help you if you tell me about it." I politely replied that I preferred someone who could definitely help me, and that "might" wasn't good enough today. I got another couple of minutes of semantic runaround and left, deciding to let Marriott keep my money, and resigning myself to a Yelp review...and hopefully a nap later.

When ever I am in Atlanta on business, I stay at this hotel. The space just re-opened in February after a complete renovation and now is a stunning Courtyard Marriott. I give 4 stars for price point, location, and comfort/convenience levels. If you're familiar with the Courtyard brand, you know what to expect as far as decor and amenities, but this place really goes above and beyond. The Courtyard Decatur is by far one of the most accommodating hotels I've stayed in. The staff is very helpful, it's absolutely gorgeous inside, and the hotel is centrally located in the heart of Decatur. Decatur Square is right around the corner and full of great restaurants, bars, and even has a local music venue, Eddie's Attic. Huge perks for me are the SUPER COMFY beds, amazing showers, a refrigerator in every room (especially when staying for a couple days), free wireless internet throughout, Starbucks in the lobby, delicious oatmeal from the bistro, I love the coziness of the lobby (usually I'll sit in one of the cubicles holding meetings/working for hours), and a free shuttle parked outside will take you any where within a three mile radius of the hotel. I love the walkability of Decatur and as I mentioned, the local scene is really something. Not that this pertains to me but, theres over 15,000 square feet of meeting and ballroom space. With all the little churches around, I imagine it will be quite the hot spot for rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions.. Virginia Highlands is one of my favorite places to hang out while in town. I usually meet up with local friends and head there or downtown ATL. I believe a cab ride for me from The Local on Ponce back to the hotel was $12.

We stayed here for a wedding and were truly blown away...what the hell is this place doing in downtown Decatur??? Looks like a midtown/downtown hotel on the inside. Very swanky...I almost felt uncomfortable it was so fancy. I was told they recently refurbished the whole place and I believe it. Both my wife and I were amazed at the decor for a hotel in this area...The rooms, the lobby, everything has been redone! They have an awesome bar in the lobby along with cubby-holes to duck away in. Lots of sitting areas everywhere and the openness of the lobby makes the place feel huge. I'm a really big fan of what they did here... Rooms are adequately sized....we had a nice King sized bed and had plenty of room to move around in. Bathroom was kinda small, though. Maybe it was just our room but it seemed the pillows were for a little kids room. I want big open pillows not 2 little dinky ones. I think our room got the short end of the poo-stick on that deal as others said they had full sized ones...I know, its' not that big of a deal but I like to sleep well when staying in a hotel. Bed was comfy except for the miniature pillows. We were not sure about the parking situation. It was kinda strange; they have a parking deck but it's $10 a day to park there. However, we were told we didn't need to pay it and could just pay $5 for each time we needed to get back in. We didn't leave but once and I couldn't tell if they actually charged my room the $10 a day or not...be sure to ask. You need your card to get out of the parking deck so I guess they keep track that way. As with parking in Decatur, you'd be better off to use the deck or find free parking. The enforcement officers will get ya if you don't... I will totally recommend that others stay here when in town...with it being right in downtown Decatur, 10 minutes from the Highlands and pretty fly, you can't beat it.

I am not sure how I feel about all the windows facing the interior of the hotel. You can spy on people from your window, expose yourself by accident, or be a bit nervous of a peeping tom- but that is my opinion. Besides the awkward position of the hotel windows, this hotel definitely lives to the hype established by the Marriott. The breakfasts in the morning are fresh and delicious. There is a work station at the side where you can get work done or surf the internet, and the staff is friendly. Our hotel rooms were always clean when we came back. I just wish the gym had more weights because it seems more suitable for the cardio enthusiasts and that there were wider parking spots at the parking garage. It seemed very confined. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to explore Decatur (or Atlanta, in general) because this hotel is minutes away (walking distance) from the MARTA and is surrounded by mom and pop shops where you can find delicious dishes. I highly recommend visiting Sweet Melissa's for breakfast!

So as you see on my review and many others, both positive and negative, the GM sends a response. I responded to his response on Facebook and said, "if you are serious about your concern, then contact me." Nothing!! Like most other businesses they care about your dollars and if your aren't happy - c'est la vie; you are one unhappy person. And one person doesn't affect the bottom line.

The old Holiday Inn in Decatur closed and was renovated turning into a Marriott Courtyard opening in March of 2012. We stayed there for a wedding weekend and had a nice room, comfortable bed, extra towels when we asked for them and peace and quiet. I recommend getting rooms that are NOT on the inner courtyard that is now a closed in gathering area and you can hear all that is said drifting up to the 5th floor. The parking garage is old and tight so be careful. It is within walking distance of many nice shops and restaurants and about 15 min drive to Emory's campus if you are visiting the school.

I haven't stayed in many of this chain but it was so-so. The lobby is really lovely and airy but the rest was unimpressive. We arrived on a Friday to one weird little restaurant being not open. Then the room had two (Paul Mitchell -yay) shampoos but no conditioner. Sad. The workout room had the crummy elliptical machines and the tvs don't have many of the same channels as the rooms. There were no cups for the water machine and no magazines. Similar lack of attention of other basics However the front desk (Chris James) was one of the friendliest people I've ever met.

This hotel has mind blowing decor and the service was great! I didn't have any problems with the room service or help! The front desk was very helpful when needed and they even allowed us to CHECK in EARLY in the morning at 7AM, which was GREAT! there is a small 24hr "market" down below by the entrance that's nice and handy for a quick snack. The bistro is great too for some quick coffee and drinks. The only thing I didn't like was the parking garage. The garage had very tight parking space that was impossible to park into! I also didn't like how the parking garage and the main hotel and lobby had a separate elevators, it was very inconvenient and you had to do a lot of back and fourth from car to hotel room. Although I didn't like the location of the hotel and there was limited restaurants near by, you had to drive quite a distance for some nice food. Overall it was a nice stay!

First off, this hotel is grossly over priced. I'm still lost as to how their rates are consistently higher than Marriotts that are located in Buckhead.. Secondly, don't let the outside fool you! BEWARE OF THE BED BUGS! I'm sure they aren't in every single room, but the one I stayed in definitely had them. Its a nightmare. I got bit on my neck, forehead, and arms. Some made their way back to my house and it's just been so bad. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.. On top of all that, do you think that I received a refund? nope. I was more upset that no one had any sympathy than I was about them not refunding. So I paid $150.09 for one night to stay there, $120 for Terminex to come out to my house but that's after throwing a bunch of my clothes in the trash.. Blah. Good luck staying here...

Great hotel to stay in Decatur as its walking distance to downtown and MARTA. The reception is super friendly. Each and every employee. I bought wine at the little store in lobby and Mr. Allen went and found me a wine glass to take up to my room. The little store is decent, but expensive. $7 for a miller lite! Got upgraded room as I am a Gold Elite. The room was very large. And two walls of windows on a corner unit. Not much in the room that you wouldn't find in a normal rom. Just lots of free space. The black out curtains worked well considering the room was all windows. The lobby restaurant was surprisingly good. My daughter had a fantastic kids French toast which was fresh with a side of strawberries. Coffee was nice and strong. The only disappointment was the indoor pool. It was the reason we booked this hotel for my 7 year old and it was really cold. And this was June. It is a nice and clean pool with lounge chairs and towels however. Wish there was a hot tub. Would stay again. And a great weekend place since you can walk to local shops and restaurants.

The hotel itself is just fine. Great location, easy access to MARTA. The poor rating is due to the Conference Center. On July 8th we attended a party at the Decatur Conference Center, which is attached to the hotel. The appetizers were delicious- spanakopita, mini dogs in blankets, spinach/artichoke dip, meatballs. Then the salad came out. No dressing. None on the tables, none to be had from the servers. Waited 15 minutes before any dressing was available. After a rather long time, entrees were delivered to the tables. Chicken or fish, with some people having special meals. All of the food was inedible- VERY salty. Like everyone in the kitchen had dumped salt on the food. Awful! The desserts were good, but I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I really hope that the facility refunded the cost to our hosts.

This is not only the worst Marriott we have ever stayed at, the service is aweful. Staff tell you they will correct your online booking - then does not. Return to room you are locked out. Room goes without service for two days. Carpet in room is so stained, must wear shoes or at least docks to walk around in room. Ask front desk to hold luggage - they will 'forget' what happen to some of it. Place is run down, overpriced and definetly not worth the say, even if it's the last place in town.

From what I heard this was a remodeled hotel, to the fact that I couldn't tell is a positive. I travel quite a bit so consistency is always a plus. This Courtyard does the chain proud. The best part about the place is the location, right off of MARTA and walkable to many restaurants and stores. The only negative was that the sound was not all that good, but if you ask for a room away from the main atrium, I am sure it's fine.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and in good condition. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We will stay there again. Great location.
