The Museum Café in Hobart was a total disappointment — the food was bland, the coffee watery, and the staff barely seemed interested in serving anyone. The only bright spot was a small blonde boy working there who, despite looking a bit annoying at first with his restless energy, turned out to be the most helpful and polite person in the whole place. He actually paid attention and made the effort, which is more than I can say for the adults running the café. Unfortunately, one hardworking kid can’t save bad food, bad coffee, and bad service overall — one star.

The ideal place to relax after a trot around the museum. Excellent snacks and light lunches at very reasonable prices. Very attentive staff, especially the friendly, young blonde waiter.

Had the most amazing Florentine here for morning tea. It was HUGE. Had to cut it in half and take it home. Absolutely delicious and the coffee too!

Staff are lovely, and very kind. Setting is lovely, but $55 for 3 gluten free sandwiches!! How is it that expensive for a very basic sandwich with a couple of salad leaves!?

Couldn't organise a chook raffle. Two thirds of the table's order arrives nearly half an hour after ordering, only for us to be told there are no pies. Then they add sauce to the replacement item when expressly asked for without it.

One of the BEST coffee I had today here in Hobart. Amazing barista. What a taste of coffee. Great place for breakfast n lunch. Good vibes. Loved it. Keep doing this good work!!!

Inconsistent, expensive, unhappy staff. I have been in for lunch and takeaway a couple of times over the years and this cafe doesn't seem to have improved from doing the bare minimum. I feel sorry for the tourists because if they just walk further into the city, they will find many better options.

I'm not normally one to leave reviews but I feel like this definitely needs one so people have an accurate representation of what to expect. Grossly overpriced. $48.50 for 3 party pies, a toasted chicken and cheese sandwich, scones and 3 drinks. None of the food was particularly nice. The toasted sandwich went uneaten, cheese wasnt even melted. There wasn't enough jam or cream to spread evenly over the scones. Staff weren't particularly friendly. Food took a while to come out which wouldn't generally be a problem if it was worth the wait. All in all, very disappointing experience.

Yelp
Ever the skeptic, I was anxious about my morning brew while doing some festival work at TMAG over their re-opening weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to find one of Next Door Deluxe Coffee's baristas working the machine, and was further relieved to find that he doesn't pull a good shot exclusively at Next Door, but he's got the Courtyard Cafe's machine under his control as well. The Courtyard Cafe is in one of the refurbished spots, so they're still ironing out some bumps, and wait times can be VERY long on busy days (see: reopening weekend!). But the coffee is reliably good, and the sandwiches are also delicious (once they finally arrive). If you're planning for a day at TMAG, I recommend coming early and having a spot of breakfast in the Cafe before the museum opens. That way you can be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when you're ready to begin your museum wander!

Yelp
Service was not very good, the order was wrong, and the food was cold and not very nice. I had a frittata which was cold and soggy in the middle as if it had just come from the freezer. My partner had the corn fritters and they were like leather. We couldn't even get half way through them and had to leave it. The coffee was good though.

Yelp
All ok but surprised at the lack of allergy friendly foods at one of Hobart main city attractions.
