Welcome to Beaumont, would you like to buy a ticket for the gun raffle?
Came here for a Hayes Carll concert and got myself a bona fide Beaumont experience.
Tickets are purchased over the phone on a "will call" basis, so you show up, they check your name off the list and assign you to a table. There are about 20 tables that sit 8, so be prepared to make some friends.
Food was served buffet style and consisted of brisket, sausage, dirty rice, potato salad and baked beans. The BBQ was by no means the finest in Texas, but was good enough that I went back for seconds.
At my show, and I think they do this at most events, they had a free beer tasting. As a craft beer fan, I was stoked! They had four offerings from Lazy Magnolia that were also available for purchase at the bar. Domestic buckets were $16 and premiums were $20. I found myself drinking Shiner drafts at $4 a pint, so it's safe to say that the beer selections are respectable. They had a few house wines available and you are free to bring in your own liquor. Guy at my table had a very nice single barrel Knob Creek that he brought in without a problem.
As for the show, it is obviously seated and very intimate. Hayes Carll played a very stripped down set and Courville's stresses repeatedly to keep table conversation to a minimum.
Overall, this is a great concert experience for those that appreciate intimacy and comfort. I hope to be back someday. They don't have many shows, and they all seem to sell out, so the locals seem to love it just as much as I did.
