The Cove Brewery, a recent addition to Deerfield Beach, brings craft beers and a shabby chic beachy ambiance to the area. However, first impressions were a bit challenging as the signage isn't easily visible from the street, causing me to miss the entrance initially. Once inside, there are varied seating options, from high-top tables to cozy couch nooks and bar stools, create a welcoming atmosphere.
While the ambiance is inviting, the service left much to be desired, especially on a weekend. During my 3-hour visit, we had to request service multiple times, and it was only after reaching out to the servers from the adjacent restaurant, WonTon, that someone attended to us. It's worth noting that while WonTon's service was commendable inside the brewery, but they can not take orders for the brewery which can be a little confusing. You'll need to head to the bar for that. To add to the service troubles, the one server who did come to the table never started a tab for us or brought a bill or asked for a credit card so when we went to the bar to settle up on our own accord we were slightly reprimanded by the bartender for not providing the beer staff server with a card. I think some people might have just left so clearly we were doing the honorable and right thing.
A significant letdown was the absence of beer flights. For a new craft brewery, offering flights is essential, allowing patrons to sample and savor a variety of brews. On the brighter side, the live band playing reggae and ska tunes added a lively touch to the evening.
The beers were decent, but I'd advise caution with the fruity frozen beer concoction--it was overwhelmingly tart and sweet. Overall, while The Cove Brewery has potential with its ambiance and beer selection, there are areas that need improvement for a seamless experience.
