"Cove House is one of those casual spots that feels straight out of a beach vacation movie. Swing by for brunch and ask for an outdoor picnic table under the yellow-and-white striped umbrellas. The move is to go for something like their BLT upgraded with baja stone crab and creamy avocado spread, which goes down nice alongside a vodka-spiked strawberry lemonade. After the meal, it’s just a short walk over to Scripps Park. " - sabrina medora

This place is such a cute vibe. I enjoyed the scenery, the beach vibes, and the fooood! So delicious. This is the perfect spot if you’re looks for a nice brunch by the beach. We walked but there is street parking around!

Google
Absolutely fantastic experience at Cove House! This restaurant deserves every one of its five stars. The location is simply stunning, offering beautiful views that enhance your dining experience. Our server, Jason, was a standout—kind, extremely attentive, and made us feel right at home. The coffee was excellent, and I loved that they offered complimentary to-go coffee, which was a lovely surprise! It was also nice for my mom, who lived here in the 90s, to come and enjoy the same restaurant, creating a wonderful sense of nostalgia. The service was impressively quick, and the music they played created a wonderful atmosphere that complemented the meal perfectly. As a dog lover, I was thrilled to see how dog-friendly they are. They provided water and even freeze-dried liver treats for our furry friend, which was a thoughtful touch. The food itself was delicious and served in no time. Overall, Cove House is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming environment for both humans and dogs alike! Can't wait to return!

Google
Absolutely adore this spot. Come on a quiet weekday morning if you can. Quick walk from the Cove, best Steak Sandwich I’ve ever had, and the Churro French Toast on the brunch menu was also amazing. The person I came with also loved the steak and eggs from the brunch menu. Great, kind service too!

Google
Cove House at La Jolla offers a great dining experience with its delicious menu and coastal charm. We tried the potato wedges, waffle fries, caliente shrimp, chick n toast, and the seasonal fish plate. While everything was spot on, the potato wedges fell a bit short of expectations. The seasonal fish plate, however, was the highlight, with its perfectly roasted heirloom carrots and citrus crema adding a delightful burst of flavor. The waffle fries were crispy, and the caliente shrimp had just the right kick. The chick n toast was also an enjoyable and hearty dish. Overall, a wonderful meal complemented by a lovely ambiance, highly recommended, with minor room for improvement on the sides! Service was decent too.

Couldn't have had a better experience. We sat at the bar and were greeted by an amazing staff, especially the bartender, Katelyn. She gave us so many ideas for things to see in town and to try on the menu. We are here for only 4 days, but we will make it a priority to go back one more time before we leave. Loved it that much.

Google
Thoroughly enjoyed a Sunday lunch at Cove House! The whitefish tacos and yellowfin sashimi tacos were both very good and would get again! We ordered seconds of each given how 😋 they were. No wait for indoor seating and service was great. Plenty of space between tables and nice relaxing vibe. Didn't try any cocktails this time. Definitely recommend even if you don't want to wait for an outdoor table.

Google
I've gone to La Jolla three times and every time I've gone here and gotten the sashimi tacos! They are SO GOOD - marinated tuna is amazing and the pineapple salsa is perfect with them! Lovely place to sit and see the ocean

Yelp
I've been twice now, and I've had a positive experience both times. You can't beat the location, and the food is tasty- it's nothing out of this world, but solid. Menu items are a bit pricey, but that can be expected for a place with a view of the cove. That first time I went for brunch with friends, and we all enjoyed it. The second time I went back for dinner.. my girlfriend and I split the crab BLAT and the prosciutto and burrata. The waffle fries that came with the sandwich were perfectly crispy. I liked the sourdough that the sandwich came on. I feel like the burrata plate could've had more burrata, but I'm also obsessed with cheese, soooo.. ‍ My brother really enjoyed the fish tacos. Our server, Andrew, was very friendly, as was the hostess. All around a nice experience. 4.5

Yelp
Came here for drinks and then came back later for a pre wedding welcome dinner, which was a private event. The space is super cute, nice patio and interior. The staff were all really nice. The drinks were fine. We got a plate of fries to snack on and they were pretty bad. So over fried that we only had a couple. When we came back for the dinner we had a buffet style set up with veggie tacos, shrimp tacos, tinga tacos, rice, beans, and chips. The Tinga was the best, but the other fillings were good too. The rice was also great.

Yelp
Love this place! The view is nice and I like the beach "shack" vibe. But it's very clean and cute. The service was also good and we got seated right away. But the food was awesome! We shared the prosciutto benny and the churro french toast and I can't decide which was better because I loved them both.

Kassandra G.

Yelp
Such a cute and casual lunch spot in La Jolla! Cove house is very close to the water front in the area and for a beach side restaurant the prices and food were great! The drinks pack a punch and pair with the steak sandwich you found the perfect combo! Portions are good, food is tasty and you won't break the bank! Service wise, our server was so sweet and accommodating! She makes sure we were always taken care of and our orders came out perfect! Service was also fast which was great! Overall a good place to try on your next day in La Jolla!

Yelp
If you're in La Jolla and looking for a place to eat, go here. If you're willing to drive for a good brunch, go here, you won't regret it. The hatch chili breakfast gravy was the stand out. We ordered a moco loco, then balanced it out with the beet salad. Both were great. The restaurant has a slight ocean view from a few tables. I'm not sure if reservations would help you get a seat with a view. Service was great. She checked in just enough and everyone was friendly.

Jacqueline M.

Yelp
We came here for lunch. The food was excellent as was the service. I had the crab sandwich. It was savory and I loved the waffle fries. They had a great crunch. My friend has the fish tacos. She said they were flavorful and the fish was fresh. The view was oceanic and the ambiance was beach casual with hospitable service. The server knew the menu well and recommended great drinks for non-drinkers. Thanks Cove House for a lovely lunch.

Yelp
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and it was such a mess. I ordered the pesto potato veggie mix? This is what came. The photo is all you need to describe it. I asked the waitress if there were mushrooms in it before I ordered and she assured me it didn't. (I'm allergic) When I got it, it was full of mushrooms. I ended up getting a child's cheese quesadilla which was edible but in no way something to be excited about. My boyfriend said his food tasted old/sour and didn't finish it. We both left hungry with a $60 bill. I'm not sure how this place has good reviews.

Yelp
Delicious brunch, gorgeous view and its proximity makes it a great pre-beach day brunch. I must omit the 5th star for the cardinal sin of not having espresso -- else the establishment is excellent. The crab stone Benny was 5* with a standard potatoes side. The crab meat is served atop an eggs Benedict with a tasty, meaty like herb biscuit all of which is thickened by a rich, meatstock-less gravy. They don't have espresso but the iced coffee was decent, and they have a selection of cocktails. Hoppier cocktails would've been better. Maritime decor with a beautiful view of the cove, friendly service. No line for 2 on a hot post-labor day Saturday at noon. Cove House was short of breathtaking but one of the best brunches I had in San Diego.

Kyle D.

Yelp
Overall: A good option for casual brunch or lunch near the park. The good: Food was great, particularly my bacon/egg/cheese sandwich. The bread was buttery, crispy, and thick, and had plenty of filling between the slices. The potatoes were seasoned and cooked well, and the portion sizes were more than filling. Service was friendly and they had high chairs for our baby. The not-so-good: They have limited hours, so don't expect a later lunch or dinner. Not a lot of outdoor seating, or even inside for that matter, so if it's busy it may be awhile before you're seated. The menu is somewhat limited. Food/drink: 8/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 8/10

Jenny N.

Yelp
Overall a pretty good experience! I feel like breakfast and brunch can be hard to make special or unique since the options are so much more limited but I did enjoy my food! I got the steak sandwich. We also tried the churro French toast which was a nice sweet treat! Note: the nut allergy symbol on the menu for this item is due to the brioche being produced at a factory that has nut products, though they're not directly in the dish (confirmed by the server and chef). The steak was good and made to how I asked! We also tried the chicken fritters which was pretty lackluster but came with sauce so that's good. Parking is all street parking since it's in DT La Jolla! We were seated outside and it was a little dusty because of that, but to be expected I guess!

Yelp
Here's a revised version of your review: We chose this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary, anticipating a delightful experience based on previous visits. Unfortunately, our expectations were met with disappointment. On this occasion, we ordered the veggie bowl, classic 2 eggs any style, and the mimosa kit. Starting on a positive note, the mimosa kit was well-presented, complete with a bottle of champagne and pineapple juice, which we specifically selected. This was a refreshing part of our meal. However, the main dishes fell short. My husband ordered the 2 eggs any style, opting for scrambled egg whites accompanied by potatoes, and avocado instead of bacon. We were taken aback by the meager portion sizes, especially considering the price point. The lack of generosity with inexpensive ingredients like potatoes was particularly disheartening. My veggie bowl was similarly disappointing, lacking in both flavor and substance. The salsa, which I hoped would add a vibrant kick, turned out to be nothing more than hot sauce, further diminishing my meal's appeal. Despite these shortcomings, the restaurant did offer a gesture of goodwill with complimentary dessert margaritas. While appreciated, this did little to offset our overall dissatisfaction, as our primary desire was for fulfilling and tasty meals. Conclusively, our anniversary meal was far from the special experience we had envisioned. The scenic potential of the location notwithstanding, the restaurant seems to have devolved into a tourist trap. Regrettably, we cannot recommend this establishment and will not be returning for future dining.

Yelp
Great location and an adorable patio. Nice spot to enjoy a quick brunch. Tasty food and friendly service.

Sara T.

Yelp
We walked up and got a table around lunchtime on a Friday. I got the Stone Crab Benny with the hatch chile gravy on the side. Instead of a traditional english muffin, they serve their benedicts with a house made herb biscuit which is to die for. It was so fluffy and flavorful. This was probably my favorite thing I ate on our whole weekend getaway. My husband got the Grilled Fish Tacos. He said they were really fresh and delicious. He also ate almost all of my hatch chile gravy with his tortilla chips. Something about it tasting like queso, but in the best way. Overall the service was fantastic, the location and atmosphere were both great - you can't beat La Jolla. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to everyone!

Risto K.

Yelp
Excellent location. Great service and ambiance! Better than average food. Stopped by for a weekend brunch and decided to have a meal. Cove House has a fabulous patio in proximity of La Jolla Cove. Good views from the side of the restaurant in a relaxed atmosphere. Brunch menu has combination of breakfast and lunch dishes along with lots of drinks. I had a bun-less burger with added egg and avocado. It was all right as burger was well done and perhaps little more, while I requested medium. Our server Christina was top notch and corrected the mistake. On the other hand Loco Moco was amazing and I would have it any given day...

Sasha P.

Yelp
Beautiful views from the restaurant. The food is good, but I found it a little bland without adding hot sauce, ketchup, etc.. Service was great though and the waitress was super nice.

Alexander E.

Yelp
On vacation, stopped in here on Monday morning. Promptly seated outside, with a nice view of the ocean. The food was awesome. I got the stone crab BLAT -- or, perhaps, BLA, seeing as how I asked them to hold the tomato. The sandwich was delicious, as were the fries. In fact, I didn't get to eat many of the fries, since my kids kept begging me to share them. Based on the other Yelp reviews, Cove House has a great reputation. Based on our experience, it definitely lived up to the hype.

Rhonda M.

Yelp
I walked in and immediately sat down. The server was so sweet, she was super helpful with her recommendations and she was very attentive. I ended up having the crab blat, which I forgot that I didn't like crab, lol, but that's not the crabs fault, it was a beautiful sandwich and I think most everyone would love it, the French fries were (10/10) crispy, salty, perfect...honestly they were some of the best fries I've ever had. The aperol spritz was really good too. The views from the patio are of the beach area and really great. I'd definitely come here again.

BloodyExpert R.

Yelp
Delicious food. Cool atmosphere. Tasty hard kambucha. The burgers looked good, saw all the table around me order them and I did ask how they were and they all told me I ordered the right thing... them Pattie's looked like the frozen ones from cosco. Lol. Nice spot with an ok view. Don't know if I'd return but it was a good experience.

Leslie C.

Yelp
Perfectly fine food in an absolutely lovely setting!! Service was a bit rushed. The food was okay. The orange juice was a real deal- tasty at only $4 a glass. The eggs were good but unless you specifically darned for the bacon to be crispy or came soggy and pretty gross. Place is expensive probably due to the location.

Danielle S.

Yelp
If you're looking for a brunch place in La Jolla, look no further than Cove House! The food is overall pretty standard brunch favorites, some with a San Diego spin - like the California Benedict which adds a nice slice of avocado to a classic Benedict. We got there right at opening at 9 AM so had no trouble getting a table, but I imagine later in the morning there might be a bit of a wait. The parking is pretty standard for San Diego and is all street parking, since it's right by the water - it's a little challenging and during peak times, I would prepare to walk a little way, some of which will be uphill. The best part about Cove House is the view - if you sit outside there is a stunning view of the water as the restaurant is angled on the hill. Prices are also pretty standard for San Diego $15-30 per plate.

Vincent T.

Yelp
We had ordered the popcorn chicken and a few drinks. The popcorn chicken was super greasy and you can definitely tell the oil that it was fried in hasn't been changed in a while. We didn't finish the popcorn chicken. My michelada was delicious. Service was average. Overall the experience was okay.

Allie T.

Yelp
Delicious food for breakfast. They did well serving me with my food allergies, was so glad service was on point and staff knowledgeable. Ambiance was wonderful - ocean vibes never disappoint.

Gabriella C.

Yelp
We had the burger and the loco moco, both were very delicious. Nice view of the water and the prices were reasonable. The staff is friendly and the food came out quickly. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast with innovative twist! I am so glad to have found Cove House at Yelp, as I had one of the best egg Benedict I had in my entire life. Located in the popular hotel/dining district on LA Jolla, this restaurant appeared to be family owned. Parking was limited to street parking only. The restaurant offers breakfast, brunch, and lunch options. For breakfast, I had the Benny with crab meat. Instead of using traditional English muffin, the restaurant offers a homemade herb biscuit at the bottom of the eggs. The homemade herb biscuit was really a standout for the egg Benedict, as it made the dish very savory and yet light. The hollandaise sauce was creamy, and a little went a long way. The potato on the side was crispy on the outside and very tender inside. As for the cost, most bennys are around $25. The serving size was generous enough that you would only need a light lunch afterward. The service was warm and attentive, and our food arrived very quickly. Overall, it was a wonderful place for breakfast! Highly recommend!

Jazzi E.

Yelp
Cove house is a great spot for brunch! I have been here many times and it never disappoints. I have visited on the weekend and there was a short wait. The restaurant is small and has indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is great and has a view of the ocean from one side. You can smell the ocean breeze while sitting outside and can go about a block down to the ocean walk to see the seals. Food: I ordered the stone crab benedict (probably the best thing on the menu in my opinion) the biscuit is to die for and the stone crab is so fresh and yummy. I have also ordered the chilaquiles (second best brunch option)! Drinks: They aren't very strong but they do taste good. I can't remember the name, but I ordered a gin cocktail that was really good. Parking: can be very difficult on the weekends as this downtown area gets really busy. There is street parking that's 2 hrs, or if you get really lucky the side street next to the restaurant is unmetered.

Alex C.

Yelp
Cute restaurant near the water. Loved the outdoor patio seating. We got the aguachile, grilled fish tacos and chicken tinga tacos - everything was great and fresh. My cocktail was really good and recommended by the server!

William V.

Yelp
This place outbrunches the rest of La Jolla! Just had an amazing brunch at Cove House and I'm still drooling! The food was absolutely a hit! Imagine crispy French toast with a churro twist, topped with strawberries and whipped cream - that was their Churro French Toast, and it was absolute heaven. The Prosciutto Eggs Benedict featured perfectly poached eggs, savory prosciutto, and hollandaise goodness, with some delicious potato wedges. And the Chilaquiles? Crunchy tortilla chips, rich tomato sauce, fried eggs, avocado, and pickled onions created a flavor explosion that was out of this world. The vibe at Cove House is super chill with great outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying the beautiful La Jolla scenery. The music added a nice touch to the atmosphere, making the experience even more enjoyable. Shoutout to our waiter, Jason, who was incredible and made sure we had everything we needed. The entire staff was awesome and made us feel right at home. If you're in La Jolla, don't miss out on this brunch paradise. You'll thank me later!

Abigail H.

Yelp
Parking in La Jolla is tough but once we got a spot we got seated right away. Service was okay, eggs Benny was pretty good - a bit dry could've used some more hollandaise. Location is great and loved the outdoor seating / open air restaurant. Coffee choices were a bit slim.

Bruzz Z.

Yelp
Food was insanely good, i had the chick'n' toast. Waitress was super nice and service was great. Music choice was 5 stars, the vibes were beachy and coastal. +100 aura

Bianca G.

Yelp
The food was hot and flavorful. The drinks came out quickly and our server was very attentive and courteous. Thank you Christina

Isa J.

Yelp
Cove house is one of the cutest brunch spots in La Jolla. I initially thought it was a tourist trap because of its great location and it's all over my TikTok feed but the times I've gone I've been able to get a table pretty quickly and the food has been amazing! The chilaquiles were a little spicy, which I wasn't expecting. They were good but not the best chilaquiles I've had in San Diego for sure. The prosciutto eggs benedict was delicious! I don't normally see prosciutto in eggs benedict at other breakfast restaurants so I decided to give it try. If I come back to here I could see myself ordering this again! You can never go wrong with french toast so of course I had to get it. This didn't disappoint. They were fluffy, sweet but not too sweet and had a little bit of a crunch because of the almonds on top which was perfect. Overall, if you are looking for a great spot before you walk to la Jolla cove and see the seals, you have to come to Cove House!

Russell M.

Yelp
Great spot smack dab in the center of La Jolla. Comfortable outdoor deck seating. But the real story is the food-outstanding! I had the crab BLAT - fantastic! Crab meat salad piled high on some incredible rosemary fresh baked bread with a couple of slices of thick flavorful bacon. Others in our group had the burgers which were apparently equally delicious. Great service. Fun place. Good cocktails too.

alexis h.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and decent food. I always get the stone crab benedict when I go there. Food could be a little hotter but its still delicious. Its a great place to sit and watch the ocean and drink coffee.

Ivana S.

Yelp
So good I forgot to take photos. It was a brisk and sunny morning. We sat outside, of course. The coffee was fresh and hot. Had the California Benny, but substituted their delicious sourdough bread and it was a 100% hit! Service was great. Atmosphere perfect. Food yummy delicious. Will be back.

Minda H.

Yelp
Great service, great location and really good food! I had the burger and egg bowl and it was extremely delicious. My meat was juicy and not overly seasoned. The only negative was the coffee tasted stale but not a deal breaker

Marie P.

Yelp
The Cove House is our must stop every time we are in La Jolla. They have great happy hour specials from 3-6 including craft beers and my personal favorite, the Cove Runner cocktail. The Cove is a really cute breakfast/brunch/lunch/early dinner kind of place just a short walk to the beach. Keep in mind they do close at 6 every day. The service is always great and we will never not make a stop to our favorite little spot!

Jamie H.

Yelp
Came to La Jolla for the first time with my girl and we were walking around checking out the sea lions and just stumbled upon this place. Was early afternoon and we were hungry and we were seated right away. I wish I remembered the name of our server but she was super cute and attentive and answered all our questions. Ended up getting the burger and grilled fish tacos. Both were excellent along with a couple drinks. Great location, service and food. If I'm ever back in the area will definitely stop by.

Ashok K.

Yelp
Been twice (with my family of toddlers) and will keep going every time at I'm at La Jolla Shores! One time I had the crab LT and one time I had the avocado smoked salmon toast. Everybody I was with has also loved their meals. The portions are the Goldilocks perfect size, flavors are awesome and unique enough, and service is so good! Caitlin was our waitress today and she took great care of us all. This is one of my favorite spots in San Diego - and I'm a North County local transplant from NYC

Key D.

Yelp
I can't say enough positive things about this place. The food, service, and location--it's the perfect La Jolla spot. I hosted a 25+ person event (the day before July 4th) in their main dining room and the whole thing was PERFECT! To do an event like that where guests were complementing the food&drinks WEEKS later tells you something. After that event I've dined at Cove House multiple times and they are consistently great!!

Gabriela E.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday and got seated right away. We got the two egg plate with bacon and the classic benny. The food was good, nice view if you get a corner seat. Service was a little slow but overall decent spot

Jessica D.

Yelp
Came in the day after Christmas around 12:30pm and was seated right away. We had the option to sit outside in the patio but it was too cold for us. The inside has cozy, beach decor. Our server was friendly and always asked if we needed refills on our drinks. The menu is limited. There are more savory items than sweet. I think they should add more breakfast items as well.

Heidi M.

Yelp
Fun spot to grab a burger. Sit outside and enjoy the view. Average food, nothing special. The fish tacos are nothing like the tacos at Shore Rider (sister restaurant), I would go there instead, better tasting food but no ocean view. This place seems a bit more touristy. It's nice that you can walk to beach after you eat. Clean bathrooms, not much parking around.

Maria C.

Yelp
The food was great! We got seated quickly during the week and they came and took our order right away. The only thing I didn't like were how dirty the menus were and how sticky the tables were

Katie G.

Yelp
First time trying this place out! I've driven by this place multiple times and it has always caught my eye. Finally got a chance to try it out. Went on a Sunday with friends around 2 PM and we were seated right away. I ordered the loco moco and we all all shared a bottle for mimosas! The loco moco was delicious, I'd describe it as a fancier spin on the classic version, definitely on the heavy/hearty side. When ordering the mimosa bottle, you get the option to choose from a couple of different juices. We received a bottle of bubbles, chose pineapple juice, and was enough to fill 4-5 glasses. If you get lucky, your table may also have a view of the ocean. Will be coming back!

Mary N.

Yelp
The fish tacos were delicious! We had the mimosa bucket for $19 and had a view of the water. The service was fast. I wish I lived closer!

Tif M.

Yelp
Gloomy but the sun would be out later in the day. Sat outside in the corner. The waiter was nice and great service. Food came out quick no wait. Food was okay and Bloody Mary was delicious.

Kristina M.

Yelp
You can't beat this place for the view, warm staff, and scrumptious food. My girlfriends and I have been here twice and been impressed both times. we will be back.

Lainy M.

Yelp
I've passed by this place numerous times and have never been inside. Big mistake to pass it and not try. This place is absolutely amazing!! The food is soooo tasty. I was between the chilaquiles and a few others but I'm so happy I got the chilaquiles they were so flavorful ! Add the shredded chicken and it's amazing! They even brought my boyfriend two scrambled eggs to finish the chilaquiles with because we devoured the chicken so fast! Also their French toast is delishhhh! 10/10 recommend! Service is phenomenal I love how sweet all the staff is and the vibe is just right. Will be back
