Nourishing Bodies and Minds at Liberty’s Kitchen During the Pandemic | Eater New Orleans

"Serving as a location that supports homeless and at-risk youth in New Orleans, Covenant House was among the organizations that received prepared meals from Liberty's Kitchen during a relief effort that produced 1,000 meals a week for 10 weeks." - Beth D’Addono

About 10 years ago I was there. They helped me giving me a place to lay my head. I was lost following a radical group but one of the ladies at the counter told me not to go out that night. And I never really bonded with those people because she had met them and looked into their teaching. I am now a Christin Deacon Pastor and back in school. The staff there are good people.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SHELTER...THE LADY MICHELLE HAS had numerous of complaints. The staff is rude and judgemental. They only feed them sandwhiches. They deny people for no reason. They have rats, no laundry. The staff harrass you because they want money. They do not have pure intentions. They only want to intake people for money, they also are against spiritual people. They lie about the rules and requirements.

DO NOT & I repeat DO NOT come to covenant unless you genuinely DO NOT have a place to stay. This is not a good place for child or anyone to be! The staff are EXTREMELY rude and very fake. They will smile in your face but secretly don’t care for you or anybody that resides there. They will throw your items away or steal them if you leave and do not get your things the same day, & they don’t care about your circumstances. The staff do nothing gossip about the residents, and talk nastily to the residents. They have no control at their homes and are so insecure within themselves that they have to come to their jobs and look down on a bunch on homeless youth. you’re honestly better off saving your money and doing everything on your own. let covenant house always be your LAST option or not an option at all.

I have a friend that's in the covenant House and I thought it was meant to help people book from what I'm hearing all I hear is that y'all is holding people back and helping who y'all want to help almost like a discrimination thing I would like for someone to investigate to make sure they are helping people like they're supposed to be am I in my business about a lot of things but when it comes to doing the right thing and helping your people that's what you're supposed to do help your people not be picky about who you help your help everybody no matter what color are race. If y'all don't look into it I will be sending somebody to investigate

I stayed there once some years ago but not very long. The first few days were ok, but after that I saw that place and the staff for what they really were. I remember all of the staff names, etc. one night after everyone taken their showers a girl and her kinda younger female friend went outside for their last smoke for the night and the outsiders that they let come in whenever jumped the youngest girl! The shelter did nothing and the cops showed up late and did nothing as well! I was mortified by what I saw! On my first night there I noticed that they meaning the staff always picked on this one girl and made fun of her having pcos! A month or so later the female staff kicked her out with nowhere to go and she went killed her self because of how they treated her! The staff there have horrible attitudes. No manners at all. They play the residents against each other. As for the director, that person should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this type of behavior from the people that are employed there.
