First, I'm grateful to Cowboy Chicken for offering a Thanksgiving plate special this past Thanksgiving when I had COVID and was unable to spend the holiday with family - I was able to salvage the day with an enjoyable meal, albeit alone. I've been back multiple times since to order their three-piece dark rotisserie chicken plate, and enjoy this place more each time I go there.
I have a long history as a Boston Market customer (and even worked there in college when it was Boston Chicken), and although poor business practice has mostly phased it out of the fast casual scene, I still look to Boston Market as a comfort food standard. If you're familiar with Boston Market and are looking for that kind of homestyle meal, Cowboy Chicken's wood fire rotisserie chicken is right there. You can order a dark or white entree with sides or family meals with a whole chicken. Cowboy Chicken also offers wings, salads, and sandwiches. I go there for the rotisserie chicken, but if that isn't your thing, there's a lot to choose from.
To me, a good chicken place also needs to be able to offer quality sides and Cowboy Chicken has a plethora of them: Mashed potatoes, rachero beans, green beans and a lot more. I'm still exploring Cowboy Chicken's vast menu so I haven't quite found a side I love as much as the Twice Baked Potaters, but I'm confident I'll get there. For $7 more, you can also have a side of brisket. Honestly, it didn't speak to me the first time I ordered it. I tried again on my more recent trip, and it was great. Not sure that it's $7 great, but I was hungry and in the mood for meat so I'm glad I got it and will order it again.
Fast casual places usually leave a lot to be desired when it comes to customer service, but I'm always impressed by the friendliness of the Cowboy Chicken staff. When comfort food is what you need, giddy up!
