The AYCE scene for Asian style bbq and sushi is fierce and I am woefully unprepared every time. Instead of classic KBBQ, Cowboy offers Japanese BBQ, which ultimately is fairly similar, just with generally less marinades and slightly different cuts of meat. My dad and I went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon for an early Father's Day outing. We were seated immediately in a dark cozy area. On the weekends, there are only two tiers: ultimate and supreme. Supreme is about $10 more expensive but is the only option that offers the AYCE Wagyu experience. We opted for the ultimate, which came with the premium lunch items and a good amount of other sushi items. Food came out in a timely manner and like other AYCE restaurants, you could order as you go.
Portion sizes are all reasonable so it's easy to try multiple things without feeling overwhelmed. The meat, even if it wasn't Wagyu, was good, and each table comes with 3 different dipping sauces for yakiniku. The sashimi options are pretty diverse, not as diverse as a full out sushi restaurant, but had a good variety of fish and mixed cooked and raw options. My favorite sushi dish was the Aburi salmon, ended up getting two of those. Generally, all the fish was pretty fresh, not too fishy, although I will say that the cuts of tuna were not my favorite and I wish they offered the fattier cuts of tuna. We did also end up getting an extra garlic butter cubes that we didn't order by accident but it was good so we just accepted it.
I think my biggest regret will be that my stomach can only handle so much food. They have a very diverse menu, including fried foods like karaage and takoyaki, and I would have loved to tried those as well. We ended up not trying any rolls either but they had a good selection that if there was more space in my stomach, I would have loved to try. At least there is always room for dessert. The pudding was yummy, exactly like the jelly pudding you get in boba and my dad had a delicious matcha ice cream. Definitely will need to be back! Maybe with an emptier stomach, a few more people, and a little better prepared.
