When my girlfriend visited from out of state, she wanted to eat here because she was very taken by the name (we are often tickled by things like this) and I enthusiastically agreed to try it out.
I'm one of those people who goes online to look at the menu so that I know what I want already when I get there, but ahhh, there were SO many things that sounded so good! I went with the Surf Bomb since it's kind of a staple and a best-seller, and when trying new local spots that's what you want to go with. It did not disappoint! I loved my food and so did my girlfriend, and I know I'll have to come back several times over to try all the other things on the menu that I was torn between.
A lot of people mention the sign on the window, in their reviews, so I'd like to address that. It says "Come for the food, not the service!" You have to understand something. A part of this place's charm is a certain tongue-in-cheek attitude that is hard to explain, but is best described as "We're all just trying to get through it, be normal and be chill please." I think some people who don't have a sense of humor won't jive with this place. If you come here expecting to be treated like a Queen, you're gonna have a bad time. If you come here expecting to be the staff's top priority when they're completely packed and orders are piling up, you're gonna have a bad time. Order, enjoy your (delicious) food, tip your server, and be on your way!
It's a small establishment and they get really busy, so there can sometimes be quite a wait to get seated, which can be hard when you're hungry and it's hot out. They're very up front about how slammed they get and suggest, even on their website, that it would be a good idea to call ahead. They keep several lists for walk ins vs phone calls, so just because it looks like someone who came in after you got seated before you, that's not really the case. If you have questions, ask! Everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful, but you will not find that fake, pandering, over-the-top "It was a pleasure to serve you!" attitude here, which I think maybe puts some people off for some reason? I personally appreciate the realness.
Long story short, we loved our visit and I will absolutely be back (with or without the girlfriend, sorry baby).
