Came here for an early dinner with my family this past Friday. Cowboys and Angels is located in the heart of Helen. That being said, parking could be tricky, so be mindful of that. The interior has a very southern, cowboy vibe to it. It is a decent sized restaurant, with a lot of seating available. There is a closed off portion of the restaurant and a semi open section that didn't have walls. There were heaters located on the ceiling to prevent the semi-open section from getting too chilly. The service is decent and pretty friendly. Our server was a little slow to get to our table once we were seated. But this was probably due to how busy the restaurant was. We arrived around 4pm and were told to expect a 30-40 minute wait for a table for four. There isn't a lot of standing room available inside and you may have to wait outside until your name is called for your table. We ended up waiting roughly 30 minutes for a table and were seated in the indoor part of the restaurant. I will also note that this section of the restaurant was quite cold for whatever reason.
Cowboys and Angels offers a variety of menu items to suite just about anyones taste buds. It was hard to finalize exactly what we wanted to order, but we were very satisfied with what we ended up getting! To start we ordered the steak nachos. This dish featured their house fried tortilla chips topped with cowboy caviar, pickled jalapeños, scratch made queso, salsa verde, sour cream, and ground steak. These nachos hit the spot! The tortilla chips reminded me more of fried pita chips, as they were thicker and airier. The ground steak had a nice flavor to it and paired very nicely with the other components of the dish. And the cowboy caviar was really, really tasty! This was a great starter and perfect for sharing. Would recommend this to share with the table. For our entrees, three of us ordered the pickled peach burger, and my sister ordered the longhorn burger. These took a little longer to come out, but they were certainly worth the wait. All the burger comes with fries, although I opted for sweet corn hush puppies instead. All the burgers are 1/2lb patties and include tomato, onions, lettuce, and pickles, on a brioche bun. The pickled peach burger included their house-made pickled peaches, caramelized onions, pepper jack cheese, and an apple bacon jam. This was really different, but the flavors worked perfectly well together. The sweetness of the peaches and caramelized onions paired with the smokiness of the apple bacon jam and spiciness of the pepper jack made for the perfect burger. The brioche bun also tied it all together nicely. The hush puppies also tasted amazing. You could see the pieces of sweet corn in them and they were not too greasy. I would 100% recommend taking a chance on this burger, it is like nothing I've had before, in a good way! The longhorn burger included applewood bacon, cheddar cheese, and their house-made barbecue sauce. She ordered this on Texas toast and really enjoyed it! I will also add their fries are very, very good as well.
Overall, this was a great meal and we really enjoyed it! The restaurant has a fun vibe about it. The service is decent and is pretty efficient considering how busy they get. We loved all our food and were surprised with how good the burgers were. The burgers are quite large and quite filling. All the food we ordered satisfied us and the food we saw being delivered to other tables looked amazing as well. I would try this place out if you are looking for a solid place to eat at while in Helen.
